Hi All
I have ROG 5s tencent edition. it was modified by seller to global. I have been using it for more than 1 year now. Last night something happened and it went off. I tried turn it on but it kept bootlooping at logo. It is not detetedable by computer because bootloader was locked by seller before selling. I had no idea about that at that time.
MY device is now in bootloop. I can open bootloader but it won't take me to recovery mode. Fastboot commands are also not working . Phone not found by computer in any state. Can any one provide me with some pointers on how an i flash firware,
Recoery is not opening. When I select it from bootloader it keeps bootlooping
Fastboot is not seen by computer. Tried many cables, both ports.
If anyone can guide me that be a huge favor as this is my daily driver
Your device should be dected in bootloader mode even if it has been locked. Connect via the side port with a good data cable and check drivers on Windows.
Once you have verified you have access to send Fatboot commands to the device in Bootloader mode, you can simply do a RAW flash to any working version and then upgrade normally to the firmware version you want. You don't need unlocked bootloader to flash this way.

I have tried but it is not detected as anything. Not even unknown device. I have installed qualcomm drivers. What other drivers are there? Could u tell?

If there isn't a hardware issue with the device, you should be able to.
Try to delete the driver and re-install it. Use the official Android USB driver from the SDK as opposed to Qualcomm drivers from random places on the net. Plug it in from the side port and try to turn it on while connected. Have Device Manager in Windows open and notice changes. Read out what it is recognized as. If absolutely nothing, then it's the cable, Windows or the device may really have a motherboard defect.
I believe it's more likely motherboard. Is there any fix for it?

So Ive just bought a brand new U12+, and obviously the very first thing I did was attempt to root it.
Main hiccup Im running into here is that my PC wont recognize the phone while its in recovery or fastboot/download mode.
If I had to guess, I think it's a driver issue, problem is I've been searching for hours now and cannot find the proper drivers for it to be recognized. (I've also tried every USB port on my PC, both 2.0 and 3.0.)
Ive tried using HTC sync, uninstalling it and leaving that driver, Ive tried letting windows auto install the driver, and I tried a generic android USB driver, none of which have seemed to work.
PC will recognize the phone while it's fully booted to OS, and I can even command it to reboot into recovery from there, but once its in recovery I lose connection.
Not sure how much of a difference this makes, but I bought a factory unlocked phone, still sealed, with all the plastic and accessories inside the box. But when I boot into download I get the message "Security checking failed DENY", this is only supposed to show up after the bootloader has been unlocked isn't it?
Anyways, if someone could point me in the right direction for these drivers it'd be greatly appreciated.

Strange suggestion but try a different pc. My phone isnt recognised when I try to install magisk on my phone on my home pc but it works on my work pc.
I got about 9 different USB ports on my home PC and none work
Also download platform-tools_r29.0.2-windows for fastboot etc.
While you're in troubleshooting mode, try another USB cable. I had issues running fastboot commands and the like when using a generic USB cable, but it worked fine using an OEM one. Can't hurt to rule that out too.

I am using the OEM cable, straight out the box. I'm gonna try meddling with it again when I get home and see if I can get it working.

Ive done a fair bit of searching but I can't find anywhere to download older version of platform tools, I have the current build 29.0.5.
Long story short converted my phone from TMO to global. Went to relock bootloader but didn't flash the global rom from Oxygen updater and had to MSM back to TMobile. I have all the latest drivers installed and all the latest tools. My pC detects my phone when its booted but when I go into Fastboot I can't send commands to it. ADB Devices runs and says the list but does not show the device number. Sending a command comes back as device not found. If I unplug the phone my pC makes the disconnect sound. There's no sign of my phone in device manager but when I go down to the tool bar I can find Android device attached via USB.
I spent 2 hours already trying to get this to work and I'm out of ideas. I've even googled it and tried everything there. My last thought is to MSM again in hopes that it resets something

Honestly I was typing in adb devices instead of fastboot devices. So I think my computer was detecting it. I did reinstall drivers that I got from the OnePlus site. I made allot of dumb errors
Hello everybody, I was trying to update my Magisk and that process failed. I thought nothing of it put it off. Tried to restart my phone a few days later and now it's stuck in a fastboot loop. Cannot even go into recovery. So I'm like okay, probably need to reinstall recovery and flash a clean rom again. Try the "fastboot boot recovery.img" command and it's giving me a "waiting for any device". Googling says it's a driver error, but that's strange because I have used my phone on this computer before with ADB and fastboot. Fastboot and ADB commands work fine on my Oneplus 3T.
A week ago I also had the problems after the Magisk update. But connecting to the PC worked normally for me. Once you've installed the drivers, there shouldn't be any problems. You could use a different cable.
Incidentally, Magisk only messed up the boot image. It is sufficient if you flash your boot.img, then the twrp.zip, reboot into recovery, then the magisk.zip.
That was completely enough for me. Cell phone works normally again, without data loss.
Good luck!
Yeah that's exactly what I am trying to do, I can't even flash the boot.img to get into recovery, my computer won't recognize the device for some reason now. Do you know where I can find the drivers? I could only find shady 3rd party sites. Thanks!
Tried installing drivers from here, no change.

No joy, looks like that's the same file as the one I downloaded. Thanks for your help anyways.
Now I can't even turn my phone off lol. It woke itself up this morning magically and now whenever I hit power off in fastboot it just boots up again into fastboot. Might have to send it in...the horror
Your phone is crying out for help. It doesn't like to die.
I think you will have tried everything possible. Have you already connected it to another computer with the right drivers? Tried other cables?

Haha yeah, it's like your kid who refuses to go to bed and is throwing a tantrum. Yeah two different computers that are known to have worked with this phone in the past (how I unlocked the bootloader in the first place). Different ports, different cables. It seems like I'm having the same issue that a lot of other people are having with the last Magisk update, except they're able to flash the recovery image in fastboot to get back running.
This is a ****ty situation! That was really a nasty magisk update. I wonder why its consequences are so different, even though it is the same cell phone.
fastboot cannot recognize device but adb can
usb debugging is enabled on device. running latest version of adb, fastboot. Have tried on both mac and win10 but same issue on both. Oneplus 7 pro is running 10.3.0GM21AA >fastboot devices >adb devices List of devices attached 966c8016...

Hello. I'm an owner of a Xiaomi Redmi 9A and I have following rooting problems with it:
1. while beeing in phone's fastboot mode and after sending from the computer's terminal (after sucessfull connection):
"fastboot oem unlock"
the phone "thinks" for a short bit before restarting itself without doing anything
2. I have a Xiaomi account bound to the phone and when selecting the "check unlock state" the phone ask me to turn off wifi, enable the (paid) data transfer and bind the phone to the account
3. while using the official Xaiomi unlock tool (with was downloaded from the phone producer's website), the phone isn't even seen in it
Could anyone help me ?

in case of adb and fastboot, I had used them on Linux.

thanks, but it seem to don't work correctly with my phone.
After my phone had become detected when was in the fastboot mode and after clicking the "select" button in the app, the phone has rebooted to the normal mode and asked to scan again. It hasn't done anything except the mentioned above.

The cable is new and I won't wipe my Linux to install a Windows (about with I have a bad opinion)
Make a dual boot, just resize partition, you need 30Gb and in 45min you will know what is the problem.
Or you can try to liveboot windows from usb stick.

Question: Why do you push so much on me to install Windows?
This forum is dedicated to mobile phones and my topic is about anormal phone behaviour of a phone while attempt to root it. Wiping out a safe Linux and installing a Windows won't help at all....
I tryed to root the phone on friend's laptop with a Windows (with the latest drivers and software installed) and it didn't worked.
I suspect that the producer probably has fabrically instaled a damaged or improper firmware
As you wish. Windows is more device friendly. I just suggest to do it on W, nothing more.
You state that fastboot works, but Linux don't see your phone, like in case you don't have drivers for adb. We don't know if you installed everything on Linux properly

This device does not have OEM unlock. Contact ASUS to try and resolve the issue with the unlock app but I suspect you have a converted phone that is getting rejected by the ASUS side. Attempting too fix it yourself will involve amending some device parameters, I think someone has added some notes somewhere on the forums here..
I made a comment on asus zentalk. I've been waiting for a week, no answer. There are 20 moderators, but one person is not responding. a disgraceful place.
Hey man i went to the internet cafe yesterday to install raw firmware. I downloaded win10 asus qualcom usb drivers , downloaded usb minimal android sdk, pressed the volume up power button, the computer did not see my phone on the start screen, I tried many times and it didn't work.
The computer sees the phone without entering the start screen. I even copied 40 movies to the phone. but every time I press the volume up/power button the computer does not see the phone when the start screen comes up.

It had HTC, Samsung, Xiaomi. I switched to ASUS. maybe my version is cn but the chinese changed it to ww! I didn't know it was like this i wouldn't have bought this phone had I known.
How do I get out of this job? I risk losing imei and more. maybe my device will be hard bricked. Flashing raw software takes a lot of effort. first of all, my computer doesn't see my device on the start screen, I couldn't even take a step. I unlocked the bootloader hundreds of times on my previous phones. I rooted hundreds of times , I installed custom roms hundreds of times,. but I could not progress even one step on the Asus phone.

Suggest using the orginal Andrid driver directly from Google. There is no specific ASUS drivers needed for this device although the one in your link may work too. And yes, you do need to sort out your driver before you can flash from PC to the device with Fastboot commands.

Hi, your device seems to be a converted chinese version (with Tencent Games on the back) so you need to use this method to spoof the region if your phone and force the bootloader unlock: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...the-bootloader-of-your-rog-phone5-5s.4371255/
Saying and complaining ain't gonna help you out.
Lost people don't wanna reply as this is covered many times and can be found with search option on this forum.
Anyway his is relevant info for you :
1: The usb c port needed to use to flash etc in bootloader mode is on the side, NOT the bottom one.
2 : if option 1 this Still not working add device manual in driver section of computer, then is driver problem.
3: adb drivers/software/map with adb commands etc needs to be present on computer, or commands will not be executed correctly and give error.
4: of you have a Chinese phone CN FW that is flashed with the WW firmware, you will get problems, only way to solve this is to use correct firmware on device and upgrade.
This is also covered in a big topic on this forum.
5: of you need to go to a internet cafe do to flashing and install firmware, and you had Samsung xaomi etc and can't work this out yourself or Ith search option, o ask myself if you should mess with the phone in the first place,
When it goes wrong, it is bad phone, crap etc.... While it is user error. No hard feelings.
Hope you know enough now and get it fixed
