Question Galaxy watch 4 to 5 restore - Samsung Galaxy Watch 4

If I backup my SGW 4, can I restore it to a new SGW 5, thereby not losing watch faces that are no longer available?

I have discovered the answer to my question. Yes, you can restore any previous watch apps, settings, faces, etc, to a new version watch.

Perfect. Is there any guide I'm quite confused?

I don't know of a guide, but I took a trade in deal from Samsung on a GW5. I backed up my GW4 before resetting it for return to Samsung, and during the setup of the new one, I was asked if I wanted to restore from a previous watch, which listed the last 3 that I had owned. The restore included options for apps, settings, watch faces, etc. It was real easy.

Mr. Time Maker (Make own watchfaces or use finished faces)

Thanks to supersoulfly, he wrote it already:
I don't know if this app is available in the US market yet, but it became available last night in Korea. It lets you do custom analog watchfaces and download ones others have made.
It needs a watch app from the gear store, a google play app on your phone, and a website is used to make the custom faces.

It works great! I already made a few faces.
It's really a great app. Here's some I've made.
Any improvements let me know!
(28/10 Seamaster updated to higher quality and daylight version added)
Did anyone have trouble with the app constantly logging you off?
Digital readouts or no?
I prefer digital watches instead of the analog hands, but I need one with the date displayed on the main screen, is it possible to make this type of watch face on this website/app?
Not in a hurry because Im returning my S2 and waiting for the S2 Classic to show up anyhow, but...
Not digital, no. Sorry
The app will not allow me to send watch face to the phone. I'm signed in but that option is grayed out. I can cancel or make it a favorite but not send to phone. Am I doing something incorrectly?

Reboot your watch and try it again (holding the home button for 7 seconds)
Having the same issue. It is grayed out. I rebootd my phone and watch and it still does work.
The same here... Sending option is grayed :/ Any clues (besides rebooting, as it has done)?
After installing MR.TIMEMAKER app with the samsung app store you must select MR.TIMEMAKER watchface at your gear s2 than you could send the watch faces to your watch.

I wasn't able to find that in the Galaxy Apps (store). All I found was the app on Google Play.

I am assuming this will work on the 3G version?
The Samsung app store on my Galaxy Note 5 was messed up so I backed everything up and factory reset the phone. After the restore, I finally can see the app and watch faces in the store again. Yay!
When all else fails, RESET!
Anyone notice the watch face displays Chinese writing with a checkmark sometimes using custom displays? Also I swear it doesn't wake as often using tilt. Could just be me on the last issue though
I get through all the watch creation stages and then it refuses to geberate the watch. Annoying or what. Anyone else got this problem and solved it?

Restore paid watch faces after reset

Hi,
After I've reset my Gear S3 I've noticed that my paid watch faces are gone. Is there any way to restore them?
Thank you.
You could try this:
On your phone, open galaxy apps, click top right and choose settings. Then choose receipt. It will show you all the paid apps and watchfaces you have purchased.
I'm not sure if you can install them again from there. But at least you have proof of purchase if you need to get in touch with the seller of the apps and watchfaces.

Instead of settings, you have to go into My Apps, and you'll see all the watch faces that you have bought. And yes you can install them again.
On your phone, open Galaxy Apps icon, click top right and choose My apps. Then choose All. Choose Gear column. It will show you all the paid apps and watch faces you have purchased & allow you to reinstall any of them.
Go to the Gear App on your phone and choose Apps from the menu. Then choose the three dots in the upper right hand corner and then choose Download History. All of your purchased apps will be listed for you to restore.

Same case happened with my gear S3,all purchased watch faces in KSA disappeared with watch reset in Egypt and restored only apps purchased in Egypt.
samsung account
I've had some of this with every Gear watch. As long as you are logged into your Samsung account you won't have to pay again. You just need to know the app you want which I always do. Once I click on it, the price goes away and it is clear I am not being charged.
When you are charged you get messages like "are you sure you want to buy?" You then get confirmation emails on the purchase. You also have a testing time period to request a refund.

Restoring apps & watch faces
In Galaxy Gear, tap Settings tab, select Apps, tap the 3 vertical dots on top right corner, select Download history, select the Gear tab, all previously purchased apps and watch faces will be listed, select the down arrow to the right of the item to reinstall on your Gear watch.

Hello my friends,i have a HTC U 11 and i bought a samsung gear S3 frontier before one month.I bought about 50 watch faces and i installed until two days before that if the watch faces are at my gear at my apps at sasmung galaxy apps appears as ia didnt download and install.I installed once again all and when i go back to the main menu of the galaxy apps and again once at my apps i have the same problem my faces or apps were like no installed and i have again start them to install........any help please...
Change your sim card
Have you try changing the sim card to other country rather than using the local sim that you have been using right now. after that you can open the galaxy apps and update the application, sort of like that. Hope this help.
I had the same issues for the last week with my Huawei mate 10.
I contacted Samsung support many times and they kept saying the same thing about checking the galaxy app, which as was said before, its the first thing we do. I then posted my problem on Samsung community site and was told to try to contact Samsung pay in your own country.
Although they said they couldn't help as I used PayPal they did said others are having similar issues with the latest update.
I then went to reply on the Samsung community site but for some reason my password was not recognised so I had to reset it. After that I sent the reply and of course I had to log in again with my new password in gear manager, now all my paid apps and watch faces are back.
They must have done something!
Cheers guys ... I'm late to the party just got an S3 classic and this just saved me. Had to reset to fix the samsung pay bug and lost face(s) !!
All sorted now though.

[Completed] App is Interrupted during installation... (SOLVED)

Hello guys,
I would like to get your opinion about the problem that I am experiencing at the moment. And I am sure there is an easy solution that I can not figure by my own.
I have Sprint Galaxy s6 Edge Plus paired with Gear S watch. And I was so excited when I search is there any GoPro App that I can use with my watch instead of buying the GoPro Remote Controller. And yeah someone already did and looks really cool! So there is an Lite Version and Paid version. So I start installing both at the same time. And my watch start acting weird. I am not sure is it because the installation or something was wrong and I did not notice. But screen is blacking out and some of the apps were missing the icons on the main menu.
So I had to restart the watch couple of times and I did not solve the problem. And then I hard reset the watch (Factory Reset).
But the Galaxy Store still showing the GoPro App for Gear S installing! So I reset my phone as well! ANd then went back to Galaxy App Store. The both App (GoPro Lite and Paid version) shows INSTALLED!
So there is no app anywhere. Anyway I click the app on Galaxy App Store. It says "Move To Gear S" and I do click that. It just brings me to main page of Gear Manager! Nothing else.
So luckly I have the same setup with my wife. So I installed the app successfully on her phone and everything looks good on her end. App is also on her watch too!
I emailed to the App Owner to send me the installation file so I can install manually and get rid of the issue (I guess). I did not hear from him yet!
So I download some apps to see the root files since mine is not rooted! But I can not see any GoPro Gear S related app on the app/app menu or since I am not rooted I see empty on mnt/asec !
If I back up my information with using the Smart Switch I am assuming it will back up all the info that is stored on the phone so I am worrying that Galaxy App store will see the same like installed after the hard reset and restore process which I do not want to waste my time with!
But I still think that there must be a location that Galaxy App Store reading this info and assuming that the app is installed (partially installed and the file that makes the store to recognize as installed is in the file) so if I delete this files I can successfully re install the app and make it easy solution!
I will appreciate for any help!

Can you restore watch face purchases using a non-Samsung phone?

I've just upgraded to a P20 Pro from my old and tired S7. Integration between the Gear S3 and S7 was of course perfect. I've installed the gear app on the P20 but cannot get it restore my old purchases, although I am getting notifications on the S3 fine. I'm going into the Gear app on the phone and selecting the restore option (About Gear > Backup and restore > Restore) and it then states it's searching but never actually gets anywhere. I remember when I did this once on the S7 it found the backup to restore instantly. I am assuming it finds the info from the Samsung Cloud.
Are there any additional apps I need to install or steps I need to take to get it to work?
Even with my iPhone I can install previously bought apps on my Gear S2. I can browse all my apps/face in the Gear Store in the "My apps" section.

Restoring Watch faces

I just swapped from my old V20 to my new S10. Did a backup right before switching. When I restored on my new phone, all of my downloaded watch faces were gone. I checked in the store under my page>all and none were there.
Has anyone else experienced this?

You'll need to go search for the watch faces again. If you purchased it, you can download it free as you already paid for it.
You can refer to samsung receipt/invoice for the name of the watch face you purchased. For me, I keep the names of the watch faces I use and purchased for easy reinstallation in a text file in the cloud.
