I want to use the international version of the S22 Ultra, and after comparing the bands in the phone with the AT&T network I'm on, the phone seems to have all the same 5G bands and every 4GLTE band except 14, 29, 30.
I live in a fairly populated city in the northeast that is fully 5G enabled, and want to know whether my signal strength or speed would be negatively affected because of the missing LTE bands?
Part of what I'm confused about is whether this LTE deficiency is even an issue as long as I'm connected to a 5G tower and getting the 5G signal? Also, from what I've read, it seems that these missing bands are not the ones primarily used by AT& T, but rather for carrier aggregation, though I'm not sure what means!
I could really use some help and advice on this from you guys. Thanks!
Identical bandwidth is not enough. The transmission protocols are also different. AT&T is the Another World.
Could you please elaborate and explain? The regular US version of the S22 Ultra obviously works fine on the AT&T network. The international version roams fine on the AT&T network. Samsung is not building such diverse variants of the same model that they wouldn't work everywhere, right?

Hi, I have a 64gb OPO in USA on Straight Talk, using AT&T network. For some reason I'm not able to get an LTE signal in Burlington, Vermont area despite LTE service being available locally. As soon as I cross into New York, New Jersey, or other states I can and do receive LTE signal, so I know my device and Sim card are capable. Others have told me AT&T uses an unconventional LTE band in this area because they took over another carrier called Unicel. What I need help determining is what band they use locally and subsequently which radio I need to flash to get LTE on that band. Currently my battery drains fast constantly switching from hspa to hspa+, yet doesn't do so in other cities and states. Any help, and links are greatly appreciated.
The OPO hardware LTE bands are: 1, 3, 4, 7, 17, 38 and 40. ATT US uses bands: 2, 4, 5, 17. So, if your ATT LTE signal is on 2 or 5 you won't get LTE in that area on your OPO. The bands are a hardware limitation of the OPO and can't be unlocked, as some people have tried in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56577252&postcount=455.

I am using it here in USA on AT& T network, but it seems like the 5G bands are not compatible with European 5G's networks because I am getting horrible speeds. Even on 4G. I went to AT&T store to see if they can do something, and they upgraded my plan to 5G plan, changed the sim card but that did nothing. Anybody knows if the bands are same for international models and US models? I am ready to sell the device in Europe and buy unlocked US version. What speed are you guys getting? I am lucky to pull 30mbps, in some areas not even that. I live in greater Los Angeles area, so there should be good coverage, right?

I'm curious to know why you imported / purchased the N20 Ultra with Exynos when we in the Uk and other regions are clamouring for the Snapdragon version ?
I was tempted to import a N20 Ultra from Hong Kong but was advised against it due to possible issues with signal and connectivity.
5G bands are totally different. You won't get 5G on ATT

I have spend more than 6 months in Europe last year, so I was thinking it's no big deal to buy in Europe. I also root my phones regularly, which lately is not that necessary, I have to admit.

Im running LineageOS 17 on a Samsung S5 (G900T) and currently on the T-mobile network. At my location T-mobile seems to provide the only decent signal on their new 600 MHz band 71 which seems to be getting utilized more across their network, especially in rural areas. My phone does not support this band by default.
Has anyone recently had any luck following any of the older threads such as https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...-bands-to-samsung-galaxy-s5-qualcomm.2948822/ in order to enable support of newer LTE bands on older devices? Or, on the flip side does someone happen to know if there are actual hardware limitations that cannot be changed in the firmware when it comes to newer LTE bands?
I didn't realize until after I received it that the KB2000 was the Chinese variant. The one I bought said it was was GSM unlocked. I switched over to T-Mobile but have abysmal service where I'm at. The most I've seen from my house all the way to work (which is admittedly, in the boonies) is 1 bar, and most of the time it's just an "x." I had Sprint before which was pretty bad, but at least actually worked. I figured T-Mobile would be the best bet, as they're merging, but that was a failure.
Anyway, the listing says the phone is GSM unlocked and not for Sprint or Verizon, so is there no hope for getting this phone on one of the CDMA networks? I love the phone, but if I can't use it as a phone, I can't do much...

It won't work on Verizon well (if at all) since it's missing band 13. So Verizon is out.
Theoretically it could work okay on T-Mobile since it supports bands 2/4/12 but "boonies" coverage for T-Mobile is trash in my experience. It's also lacking band 71 which travels furthest from the tower (realistically this probably won't make a difference if you already have super poor signal). Some phones on T-Mobile will get native Sprint signal now too- I noticed this behavior on my Pixel 3a XL but not on my OnePlus 8T KB2005. Certainly the KB2000 will only connnect to native T-Mobile. This is reserved for iPhones, Samsungs, Pixels I think.
AT&T might be worth a shot. It supports bands 2/4/5/17 and KB2000 is on AT&T approved device list https://www.att.com/idpassets/images/support/wireless/Devices-Working-on-ATT-Network.pdf 17 is the low band coverage (700MHz) just like Verizon B13 and T-Mobile B12. AT&T has better rural deployments too in my experience. It won't get 5G and you're missing bands 14,30,66 but 2/4/5/17 is enough to have a decent network experience.

Yeah, I was trying to get *away from* the big guys like Samsung and Google. I've had LG phones for a while and liked them (don't care for updates, so it doesn't bother me), but now that's a no go..
Saved up for the nice OnePlus, and I know people have said they're kind of "selling out," but they're still super root friendly and very open, so I was excited. I also knew I wanted to switch to GSM (been on Boost/Sprint forever, now), and I figured going to T-Mobile from Sprint would be my best bet, as I figured I'd have T-Mobile's coverage PLUS Sprint's, because of the buyout.
Then I read Sprint users can all fallback on T-Mobile, but not the other way around? Except for your listed "premium" models. And I also didn't figure the "boonies" service would be quite this bad; it's awful.
Other people around me say ATT is awful as well, pretty much only Sprint and Verizon are serviceable. Looking at the frequencies, it has no Sprint CDMA bands and with Verizon it only has one: BC0 (no BC1). I've read that 13 is Verizon's "main" LTE band, but how do we know this information? Is BC0 (800) better than BC1 (1900)? I know that *overall* with Verizon the service wouldn't be fantastic, but as long as there's connection in the boonies, that all I need, really.
Hi, I'll be visiting the US in about 2 weeks and will be getting a prepaid sim for about 6 weeks during my stay there. In the past 5G in the US was not supported as the international variant of the galaxy series was an exynos modem. However this year with the snapdragon modem will there be a difference?
Has anyone tried to bring a global snapdragon version of the s22 ultra, specifically the S908E/DS to the US and gotten 5G to work? I am thinking of either using AT&T or Google Fi. If you have a better recommendation, I'd love to hear it. Or if it won't work in the US, if someone could clarify why, that would be greatly appreciated.

I see, thanks. So I see some of the bands are supported for 5G with Verizon/Tmobile/AT&T/ etc. Does that mean 5G will partially work, or for that provider to work all of the bands the provider uses must be available?

you can narrow that search down to provider, but you would be best researching the area you will be visiting and which network provider has the best coverage, different carriers use a variety of different bands

Yeah I narrowed it by provider, and as I mentioned the phone has most of the networks, but no mmwave and missing 1 or 2 5G bands, but still has 3-6 bands depending on the provider.

its not the phone missing the band, as such, its just bands are split between devices so as to keep the networks from being overloaded on a single band

Gotcha. In the past I've looked at the 5G coverage map, and pinpointed my location. It says that the area is covered for 5G. At&T's map does not say what bands are covering that area though, it just says 5G. Is there somewhere else you mean I should go?

it doesnt sound like it, but its possible that your carrier maybe or have upgraded its 5g roll out its best to compare current/latest checks from your carrier and manufacturer as the dates for other sites, like the link i shared may not be current
