Hello,
My device is S22 ultra (exynos). I want to ask if anyone has a problem with extracting text from a photo - a function of the s-pen and the Samsung keyboard. For me, after updating to Android 13, the function to read (OCR) text from a language other than English does not work.
I'm looking for help!
Thanks!
It's working fine here.
I just got some german and portuguese text using the camera.
Edit: I have the Exynos version too, running BeyondROM

Yes, but Cyrillic symbols or others else is not working. Just latin symbols are recorded.

What do you mean - "theme"?
Found it a few days ago and fell in love with the interface. It's really polished and beautiful. Best notes app for android IMO.

Yes.
I mean the android theme that you are use it. I like the black bar with white icons.
Why do I have it in... japanese!? Is there a way to change it? I am learining this language, but hey, I don't know that much yet .
seems like it doesn't recognize any other language than english... That could be a problem... japanese isn't very easy
hopefully the dev fixes this (default language to english)
Yeah espiecially when everything is in kanji .
So that's the case. I'm not changing my phone's language to english only for one app . Dev, please fix this .
Looks like Chinese/Mandarin? to me
I'm learning Japanese, and I can't read it too, because there is no kana...
Hope English will be available too...
Chinese and Japanese uses same chars, they just read it in different way. You still have to learn more, Japan consist of 3 alphabets - hiragana, katakana and kanji . I still don't know for sure if it's Japan or Chinese, I judged by the way how date was written in note (I think that it is unique for Japan). EOT I think .
English is available, you just have to have english as default language in phone.
Is it really useful to start a Japanese/Chinese language discussion on an android forum? But I didnt say Japanese dont use kanji, I just mentioned there was not any kana (hiragana/katakana) in it. Japanese text is a combination of Kanji/Hiragana/Katana. So if the whole app is in Chinese characters/kanji, its obvious it isnt chinese. And the the way the date is used, isn't only for Japanese, i think.
But on topic. If the app is in English (or Dutch, of course) the app would be great i think.
sorry for ot......but,that launcher are you using?
Can't use it since it's all in an Asian language. Please fix this, would really love to test this.
I like it.
Couple things I noticed:
1. When typing it doesn't support the Android auto-correct and auto-punctuate feature. Which is big for me.
2. When you're on the screen with all your notes, it would be nice to be able to long press on any note and either edit/delete/share/whatever that way. Instead of having to open the individual note.
Those are the only to things that I've noticed so far. But I do like it.
Its not a theme or a launcher

nope.... and I can't even find any option to change the language . Please fix this
Sorry, it's fixed, but you have to download the app from market, not from this thread.
It did fix it for me, I just installed the new version over the existing one and got english instead on chinese.

Hi All
I live in Quebec and I just got myself a shiny NS. However, there is no option for a french canadian keyboard in the settings, only the azerty french keyboard. Is there an easy way to enable this language?
Thanks!!!
I don't live in Quebec but I wouldn't mind knowing the answer to this. I've read somewhere that Slideit keyboard from the market has a French Canadian Keyboard but I really wouldn't count on it til I tried it and last time I checked you had to pay for it. The only one I've tried is from the seeARM swype keyboard from his Galaxy S JL2 Rom but how to get it to work on the Nexus S I'm not sure but it was nice to have on the SGS.
edit: I have swipe beta on the Nexus S so maybe it can be ported over....not sure how but if someone here has any ideas it very well could work. seeARM hasn't been around in quite a while but might be able to run it on the Nexus somehow.

Swype already works fine on the Nexus S. You cannot distribute Swype, it's illegal on XDA.
Check out keyboard alternatives, they most likely have what you're looking for. Alternatives such as Smart Keyboard Pro and Swiftkey.
I wasn't trying to distribute Swype, just trying to mention the only french canadian keyboard I'd seen so far....as being french canadian anyway since they are few and far between.
Thanks. I am aware of the alternative keyboards available but I would have liked to stick with the stock keyboard as I find it pretty nice!
I'll report here if I find a way.
Hi, I'm from Quebec too and I'll share some information that might be useful to other French-canadians Nexus S users.
First, I noticed the Nexus S doesn't have a French (Canada), which can be an issue with the News and Weather widget. I will explain how to take care of that.
Put your system language in French by going in the following menus
Settings > Language & keyboard > Select language > Français
Now you'll notice that the language is set to Français (France)
The problem now is that by having this language set, you automatically get an AZERTY keyboard.
Install the following application (Using the Barcode Scanner application from the Android Market)
Once it's installed, you'll have a new application called Paramètres régionaux. Open it up, press on the context menu button and press on Add Locale.
Put the following informations in the Add Locale popup:
Label: français (Canada)
Language: fr
Country: CA
Variant: <empty>
Now, to have a QWERTY keyboard, go in the following menus
Paramètres > Langue et clavier > Clavier Android > Langues de saisie > English (United States) (only have this keyboard checked)
Now you should have a french operating system, with a QWERTY keyboard and the News and Weather (Actualités et Météo) application that now gets Canadian-related news instead of France news.
Thanks for the great post. However, I wanted an english operating system with a qwerty with french and english dictionnary/autocomplete!
I finally found a way : install CM7. With this ROM you have all the dictionnary/locale you want!

Still nothing ?
Same new nexus S ( add to that a fresh scratch on the flimsiest screen I've ever touched ) but no french canadian keyboard. I'm can't stand the french OS.
But still need to type in french...
Nothing new ?
Thanks !
Before flashing CM7, I briefly used an app named "Gingerbread Keyboard" or something similar, that was free on Android Market and had a number of additional locales like French Canada (so QWERTY), or French QWERTZ which is used in Switzerland.
Another option with the stock rom (with alt. recovery so as to be able to mount /system in read-write mode) is to use adb to remove LatinIME.apk from /system/data and push the one from cm7 into the same location.
To get the apk you'll need to download cm7, unzip it and find the apk there.

My understanding is that you can use the English keyboard (qwerty) with french autocorrect. You can add additional languages in the keyboard settings and then toggle languages by swiping the spacebar. The French Canadian keyboard is just a qwerty with extended character set for accented letters. Your keyboard wont show the extended characters anyway due to the size.
Hey guys, about two weeks ago I downgraded from Jellybean back down to ICS because of a problem I was having with JB I just got the OTA notification again, so I was hoping someone who is using JB and has the keyboard dock could test something for me.
I use the Asus Greek Keyboard IME a lot because I'm taking a lot of classes with Greek The problem I was having with JB was after the update I could no longer use the keyboard to input accent marks over vowels For instance: ά έ ώ. To do this once you've activated the Greek keyboard IME you just have to press the semi-colon key, followed by the vowel. Could someone with the latest firmware test this for me and tell me if it works now or not? What it was doing before was putting that little apostrophe looking accent in front of the letter, instead of over it when the letter was typed.
Thanks!

Hi Rikeshar - I wold send a message to Gary Key about this. (send him a link to this thread so that everyone can see the information too - or just copy his response (with permission)). Gary is an official ASUS Rep here on XDA.

I tried with both Asus Greek and Android Greek keyboards, they ARE NOT working with Greek. I'm running latest .18 JB.
Thanks buhohitr, I guess I'll hold off on updating then. A related question, if I do hold up, is there a way to dismiss the update notification but have it come back the -next- time the firmware is updated?
I send the question to Gary, wolfman87. Thanks, hopefully he can provide some insight or bring it up with people who might be able to do something.
Hello again. Could someone who is up to date with their Asus firmware test this for me again please? Need to know if the accent marks are working correctly in Greek.

Yes, it's working, I typed a and hit the semi key I have a'. But you need to check it out yourself to verify for real.

Ack, maybe it isn't working then. Was that accent mark over the a or just beside it?

That's a shame. Thanks for checking for me. If you wouldn't mind, could you check one more thing? I've just read that JB finally added Greek to the stock keyboard. You've been testing with the ASUS keyboard for me, right? Could you check the stock keyboard as well, as a final resort? I appreciate it!
keyboard dock software error
Hey guys, quick question and I hope it will be easy to answer:
Asus messed up the keyboard layout on the Jelly Bean update (it was fine in ICS) and its practically impossible to type in greek using the dock. Has this been fixed in CROMI? Is it even a known issue? Apart from a couple of unanswered posts there seems to be no information on this.
I 'm kinda desperate over here, any help will be appreciated.
thnx

Don't know if this helps you but I had a similar problem when going from English Canada to French Canada. I've had it for 2 weeks now and it wouldn't type French accents over the vowel. They would be before or after. Today I started looking at the settings to figure this out and notice a choice "choose system language". I ticked that box. I also chose French Canada and English Canada in the lower "asus" keyboard and android keyboard. Now if I want to type in French I change the system language and the keyboard automatically switches to the French keyboard and types the accents properly over the next letter. Type the accent and the cursor changes to a blue box and the next letter types in the box under the accent.
Hi,
hopefully this is the right Forum for the following question:
I am using CyanAOSP Android ROM (KitKat 4.4.2) and AOSP Keyboard with 3 languages installed: English, German and Croatian. For all of them I activated slide/swype function but it is working only for the English and German language typing/swyping.
Does anybody know how to get slide function to work on Croatian language?
When I type in croatian words, it works fine, only the slide function does not work.
I bought Swype but it slowed down my Smartphone (Samsung I9000) significantly, as well as SlideIT.
Thanks for any Suggestion/Help.
Pavana
Hey guys,
I have looked but for some reason it's difficult to find information on this topic.
Sometimes I need to write in Slovak language on my Android 6 phone. However, it seems neither the AOSP keyboard nor GBoard have the ability to type with diacriticals (accented/national characters). The SK keyboard is identical to the EN one.
I tried SwiftKey but that seemed to slow down my phone and make it less stable. Is there any way to add languages with national characters to the standard keypad? (Preferably to the AOSP one.)
My 2nd question is about the reverse. AOSP keypad offers no word suggestions when the language is set to SK. GBoard and SwiftKey do, but only WITH accented characters. However most of the time when I type even in SK, I still don't want to use accented characters.
Is there any way to use a national dictionary (again preferably in AOSP) but have all the accented characters replaced with the standard A-Z? (E.g. č->c; é->e.) Even my old candybar phone with T9 had that ability 12 years ago and I miss it :/
Thanks in advance.
Edit: Oh sh*t posted in the wrong forum, sorry!! Please move to Q&A, I had multiple tabs opened and confused them
