Question Native call recording without root? - Google Pixel 7 Pro

Hi. I am on the Samsung S22+ now. But I consider getting a Pixel 7 Pro.
On Samsung and Oneplus phones I had to root to get native call recording (in Norway).
Do P7P support native call recording out of the box, or do I need 3rd party apps or root to get it?

Not to my knowledge, at least here in Germany and I assume Norway is the same.... of course with rooting all is possible (plus that is much easier than with Samsung)...
I tried other calling apps (e.g. True Phone) that allow for call recording, this in theory also works without root but in reality is inferior in recording quality....

Is this correct:
Got a Google Pixel? Now you can record calls anywhere around the world
Strangely, Google Pixel Phone app did not offer the call recording functionality till now outside the US. However, things may well have changed.

That option is missing on my Pixel 7 Pro. Unlocked version on T-Mobile US.

Can you record calls on the Pixel 3a without root?

HI,
I've seen that in the Pixel 3 (and not XL) there's an app which still enables call recording without root - Cube ACR:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78285599&postcount=5
Is there an equivalent app for Pixel 3a?
Call recording is very important for me and I couldn't find any thread which targets the PIxel 3a specifically.
Thanks,
I mean the cube app shows up in the play store on my 3a. So install it and try it
In general, you need root for really record calls. But there is some apps that record the audio from the loud speaker with the mic. It's not the ideal way but it's possible.

I haven't purchased the device yet (if it wasn't clear from post) because not being able to record calls out-of-the-box is a deal breaker for me. That's the reason I addressed this question to the community.
@smartuser8
Thanks for the input!
If someone managed to record calls easily without root please reply, thanks again!
If you want a true 'call recorder mode' there is only 2 ways:
- Root
- Other manufacturers with a stock rom with that mode in the call app. I remember my old Asus Zenfone with ZenUI with that mode during call. But I don't know if Asus is still doing that today... Good luck.

Thanks! I know that Xiaomi has built-in call recorder in MIUI and Samsung recently introduced one in the Galaxy S8 - S10 lineup.
I guess that I'll have to go with one of them.

is there an answer to call recording or not?

call recording thread searches seem to only return outdated information, as far back as 2010 results. what is the answer on call recording with a non-rootable Android 9, Samsung Galaxy S9+ SM-G965U. Will a custom ROM provide the necessary access to be able to call record with a third party app such as ACR? Like before Android 9? This feature is important enough to me that I will rollback Android release or dump Samsung. Oh wait! I can't roll back Android becuase I can't root? WTeff
Thanks!
You can get native call recording on OnePlus oos with magisk

How to use Call Recording/Second Space on EU version of Realme 5 Pro?

The EU version of Realme 5 Pro does not have Call Recording feature. The feature isn't simply there. It also does not have Second Space feature.
How can I get these features on this phone?
Same problem here. Law in Italy allows call recording without any notice or agreement between parties. This Android 10 is really a screw-up to disable it for whole for EU.
Hi, do you have solved the problem? I don't want to root my phone just for this, it works too well...

Phones with Call Recording working without root in 2020

Hi,
I'm looking for a 2020 phone that has easy to enable call recording feature (wheather built-in or through 3rd party app).
Up until now I'm using Oneplus 6T which is extremely easy to enable call recording using JOneplus tools (no root needed).
I know that the last Oneplus phone that comes with oneplus comm suite is Oneplus 8 and the newer devices comes with google comm suite and that means no call recording (in Europe).
Same goes (from my understanding) for Xiaomi phones - in Europe they tend to be with google dialer unfortunately...
I know that some phones still have call recording but only if you have india or US version. I'm interested in European versions or at least phones that you can easily trick to make call recording work.
My question is:
Could you please guys list from your experiencs what phones enables call recording without rooting by either using built-in dialer or 3rd party app that works.

How to enable Call recording in calls, in Europe?

Hi, because of some stupid privacy law in europe we are not allowed to record OUR calls (WTF is that, its MY call, why not if I do not do anything wrong with it).
I use this function A LOT, because I tend to forget things, do not have at handy a pencil or something, so I simply record the call when needed, and this has been of GREAT help.
Now I ordered the Galaxy Fold 2, because of its great fold functionality (I use phone for business) but I forgot to check before ordering, if this call recording "hack" is available for this model or not.
I had Oneplus and Xiaomi, and with both, with a hack, is possible to get the (official) call recording work in Europe, now I hope I did not do a terrible mistake in buying the Fold 2 if this possibility is not there.
Thanks

Samsung OneUI always had Call Recording integrated, however, it's disabled for EU and other regions.
You can re-enable it with Root.
You have to replace the file /system/omc/[XXX]/cscfeature.xml because it's a cryptic placeholder file.
You will have to replace "XXX" in the folder path with your country-code. For me Germany was DBT.
You create a new cscfeature.xml in Text editor with the following content:
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<SamsungMobileFeauture>
<FeatureSet>
<CscFeature_VoiceCall_ConfigRecording>RecordingAllowed</CscFeature_VoiceCall_ConfigRecording>
<CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>true</CscFeature_Camera_ShutterSoundMenu>
</FeatureSet>
</SamsungMobileFeauture>
Like I said, you put that file into /system/omc/[XXX]/ and you have Call Recording Settings in Samsung's Phone-App.
You can also do research about cscfeature.xml for yourself, it's widely known for customisations. You can also allow disabling Shuttersound for Camera-App etc.

With rooting you can enable this.
But you PERMANENTLY disable Samsung Pass, Google Pay, Samsung Health and multitude of other important features. 3rd party / banking apps will nag you (and the next owner) about the rooted phone.
You can record calls on unrooted phone with a 3rd party app, there are plenty (I'm using the one from Lucky Mobile Apps).
You can disable camera shutter sound by bixby a routine (app launched - camera, then "do not disturb" mode on).

Samsung Pass & Samsung Pay yes forever. Samsung Health too, but can be reinstated with a build.prop mod.
If bootloader is unlocked, but not rooted, Google Pay & other apps (like Netflix) wouldn't work, due to Google SafetyNet showing the status "Fail".
But if you root the phone with Magisk & enable MagiskHide (or the new Zygisk), you can spoof Google SafetyNet-Status, and all apps work again, because they don't know the phone's been unlocked & rooted.
This is how I use my phone. Magisk spoofing SafetyNet.
There are also Custom ROMs that have Passing SafetyNet out-of-the-box, so no Magisk Root needed in those cases.
