Errors when trying to build for S6 (Exynos) - Galaxy S6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wanted to build RiceDroid 5.0 using @fakemanoan 's sources but I get some errors that I can't really solve. I looked at commit history of lineage/hardware/exynos repo and noticed that there are commits related to compilation errors. Here is the error.log:
https://temp.sh/aNizH/error.log
I somebody knows what to do I would be grateful!

Hi,
You need a couple of patches before you can build it properly.
You need to allow warnings from "hardware/" to build. https://github.com/LineageOS/android_build_soong/commit/17379d26179022b7bc8a55cda0318b125836a065
Also, you need to have a passthrough composer (or change it to hwbinder) otherwise you will fail to boot
hidl: Add Passthrough Composer 2.1 · html6405/[email protected]
It was removed in Android R but needed in Android S for Exynos 4.
github.com
You might also need this: https://github.com/html6405/android...mmit/f816b37d845e99ad8333422a76ee791bb5493318
I will fix the repos at a later date. GL!

I updated the repos, so as long as you sync with the new repos and apply all of the patches from 7420_patches, it will boot. Tested on lineage 19.

Alright. Thanks for quick reply !

The rom is now building. Thanks for new patches. Btw that framework base patch is not applying with git apply. I had to use git apply --reject. Same story for vendor patch but that can be applied manually.

It is likely that ricedroid has the fingerprint patches pre-applied, as other ROMs, such as crdroid, also apply this patch.
The vendor_lineage patch is for adb. Not strictly necessary, but useful if you need to debug.

Damn lol. Welcome to the Squad

Finished building and booted. However audio (only dial tones are working), and microphone aren't working. Still waiting for @Concept48 to test other stuff and send me logs. I noticed that there are a lot of commits regarding audio in /hardware/Samsung.

That's alright but the fact that you were able to boot is a big thing in itself. uk i have been trying to build evx 6.7 for the past week or so but it fails to boot fsr. Probably cause of the passthrough impl or something stupid that i have done

Check updated patches on fakeman's GitHub. I could even start building, without new patches added yesterday. Btw since I am building for Mi439 (Redmi 7A/8/8A), chances of booting ROM there are 99%.

I'm still using this, and will continue to do so until Nougat roms come out. Security is way out of date now, of course, but I just love the features of RR. Will not change to Lineage or Mokee.

I love RR too but i can't understand if it is fully functional (dt2w, lcd problems, camera upside down, no agps, wakelock with localization on... are being resolved in these days and some of those problems can't be solved because of proprietary issues) so how is possible that it works totally?
At this point i ask myself why the developers didn't use this source to build then?

I haven't had any issues at all with mine (though I haven't tested dt2w since I don't use it). Works pretty much flawlessly after doing a couple fixes:
1. flash the "lights" zip to fix the LED behavior
2. Disable NetworkLocationService
Then this rom works damn near perfectly. I've had zero issues using it as a daily driver for 3 months.

@ezrexl you are really funny, it's device source not a rom.
There's nothing changed for oreo on the source, we automatically created 8.0 branches for all our repos independent of Oreo support for the devices.

Holy, thx but no, I am not a proper developer to build 8.0, I can compile Android and fix errors, but I lack the fundamental skills in order to debug and fix problems. I am trying to learn how to fix broken functions, but it's going to be a long time till I will be able to be sufficient in Android development. I believe that for now, other devs such as Rashed should continue to support the devices, and I appreciate their hard work to bring Oreo to Android. As a matter of fact, all credit should go to these devs, not me. Also, I have one build that is half compiled, may fix wifi, but idk. Also link has been fixed (must have not fixed it properly)
Any chance to port this to RS988?
One day... Shortly after i am finished learning a new language i will be teaching myself rom building and will help... Provided i am still alive.....

Searching a volunteer to provide OmniROM 9.0 builds

Hello people!
After AOSP the OmniROM is now the second custom rom available on the XZ2, XZ2C and XZ3. (Needed to omnify the device files to build TWRP with it.)
Due of lack of my free time (plus I am providing AOSP and TWRP and don't have enough free space on my online storage), we need someone providing us builds for the XZ2, XZ2C and XZ3.
Of course it need to be a DualSim and a SingleSim build.
At the moment the omni device trees only offer a SingleSim variant, but it does only take 3-4 lines of code to offer a DualSim build option after lunching the device tree's.
You only need to adapt the code of the AOSP project.
PS:
They won't accept code changes at https://gerrit.omnirom.org, because they never actively support them.
Yes. I don't like this opinion, too.
PS0:
I can confirm from too people running OmniROM 9.0 on their XZ2C and XZ3 that it works.
At this moment I am running OmniROM 9.0 on my device as a test if it works.
PS1:
I can confirm, that you can directly integrate TWRP into the OmniROM (and maybe AOSP, I will test it on the next successful build).
Just build the entire ROM with "-userdebug", but the bootimage with "-eng".
Of course you need to replace the standard recovery with TWRP, while building.
This is a good place for an example how to modify the manifest files:
https://github.com/minimal-manifest-twrp/platform_manifest_twrp_omni/tree/twrp-9.0
Of course you should put your changes into the "local_manifest" folder and modify the omni manifest files.
Of course you can build an twrp installer, if you don't want to run an "-eng" bootimage.
But I can't execute "fastboot boot twrp.img" on my XZ2.
You you may need todo the same stuff like we are doing with out stock rom, to install TWRP. (TWRP thread).
Pictures
A screenshot I forgott.

Yes, as you can see in the screenshots.
The same like in Sony AOSP (the base for every custom ROM for our device).
Of course the implementation still needs Bugfixes and feature enhancements.
You can see the open tasks in the bugtracker linked in the AOSP topic in XDA.
If it's only the builds you need I can help but I probably won't be much help adapting the code.
