Accessories Otterbox Defender Pro Case and Screen Protector Compatibility - Google Pixel 7 Pro

I am looking for a compatible screen protector for my Otterbox Defender Pro case. I currently have a Zagg screen protector on my phone and I can not use this case with it because it lifts the edges. I really like the case and know Whitestone Dome will work but I do not want to go the loca and uv curing route. If anyone is using this case with a cheap tpu protector let me know. Otterbox has a Alpha Flex protector that is compatible with the case but I would like to find something less expensive.

I have a Spigen case and the Whitestone Dome.
Never used to cure a protector, but it was easy, just look a several Youtube video's.
I also used a can of compressed air to remove any dust.

Thanks but I said I do not want to use a loca based protector. I've seen the install videos and it's not anything I'm interested in doing for my own preferences. I'm looking for a TPU protector for the Otterbox Defender case, not Spigen or any others. I already have one sitting in my drawer. I do like the compressed air idea for the lint on the edges.

I apologize. Big oversight on my part. I scanned over your OP, but apparently it was too early when I did so. Sorry.

No biggie but thanks. I think I will just bite the bullet and order the Alpha Flex. It's about 2mm less wide than the one I have. I did retry the Otterbox with my Zagg last night and so far it hasn't lifted it again. I still want a backup for when it dose because the fit is so close to the sides and corner. I think they should have cut the case friendly ones a bit smaller.

Hi @Misterxtc, I hope you don't mind if I make a suggestion, in order to hopefully obtain better answers. Edit the thread title to be something like:
Looking for Non-LOCA Screen Protector compatible with Otterbox Defender Pro Case - read that as: definitely not Whitestone Dome

For what it's worth, Whitestone also makes a non-Dome Pixel 7/Pro screen protector, but my wife and I are using the Dome (with Otterbox Defender Pro) so I can't report on the other. They have a reputable warranty, even if you mess up an install, though.
Edit: Also, although your thread is technically a Question-type thread, I agree with you putting it in the Accessories category, as there are a billion new Question threads in this section every day. Okay, maybe only 20, but still.

I did see that on youtube I think but he said it's full coverage. I have warrantied a few screen protectors with them with no issues. But I did order the Alpha Flex a few minutes ago just because they said it is 100% compatible with the Defender Pro. At least it was Google credit I used for the Zagg and not real cash.

I am considering buying the Alpha Flex for my Pixel too. However I haven't found any proper reviews online. Did you end up installing it? If yes, how is it working for you?

The install tray is held together with rubber bands and dose not hold the phone well. Mine ended up popping out of the tray half through the install and ruined the protector so I returned it for a refund. For the price they could at least give you a good install method. The protector itself might be good but good luck getting it on properly.

That's a shame. Can you recommend any other good TPU screen protectors? I was also considering the Whitestone UV Gen but from a video I saw it seems to leave a visible horizontal line in the middle of the screen. Never thought finding a screen protector for a phone could be so hard, it looks like there are no good options.

Sadly not for this case but I have been using this one for a few months now with either my Tech 21 or Spigen Tough Armor cases. I gave up on Otterbox this round.

I got T-Mobile on mine it's so good

REVIEW amCase Hybrid Bumper Case And amFilm Screen Protector Premium HD Clear

Hi, this is a review of the amCase Hybrid Bumper Case And amFilm Screen Protector Premium HD Clear.
I received them this week, i like the back transparency, because it lets the original S5 design show, the case has a nice fit and lets very good space to access all ports, also it feels good to the touch and has a nice grip, since the back is solid, also this make it feel like a more expensive product.

I didnt like the case because of its back. It kept giving me goosebumps....its a weird material
I'm thinking about trying this case and wondered how it fits. Also, how is the installation?
Any more info on the Screen Protector?
Recently bought another brand off Ebay and was wondering if the amFilm brand you mention is any better? The ones I got were really hard to align and just did not seem to go down right. This caused the edges of the protector not be sealed down tightly and I constantly get air bubbles in the sides and near the home button. I even payed extra for fast shipping so it was kind of expensive. The ones your talking about are cheaper and get good reviews so I am considering trying them. Did your friend happen to mention how the protectors fit? Or if he has had any problems with air bubbles?

Purchased this case the other day and it's great! One of the best cases I've had.

Cheapest case with built in screen protector...

Since Otterbox seems to release their Defenders two months after the phone release, I need case with screen protections built in... No way I am letting this phone go commando for two months... What is the cheapest one you have found?

The Ringke Slim is an excellent thin case that ships with a nice free screen protector. I normally don't use their included screen protector because I prefer glass, but I'm using it now until the glass protector issues are sorted out.
I got it shipped for less than $10 through Amazon Prime.

How's the included screen protector that came with your Ringke Slim? I put mines aside cuz I'm also waiting for a good glass, but debating if I should just slap the free one on.. Do you notice any glare when using your phone outdoor? And how does the edges look with your screen protector on?
It's a perfect cut. To tell you the truth, I'm a little shocked how good it is considering that it was free with the case. The cuts get as close as possible without going into the bended glass portion so no lift issue. This also means you have to get alignment right during install.
As far as glare, didn't notice any. I put it on because I didn't want to rush into buying an unproven glass protector.

Looks like gorilla glass 5 scratches like no other, so I figured this thread could help others with reviews and recommendations. I saw gpel made an all clear cover, and there's a few similar ones on Amazon. I'll try to update as we get some more time to check quality.

I'd personally go for a slickwraps or dbrand skin for the back of you don't like cases. It'll protect it, and you can get something like a leather to still keep the premium look.
thank you for thread , i hope we found soon good protectors
I hope someone will test out some of the crap on eBay, because I sure as hell am not going to pay 50+ dollars for a screen protector.

Hi Y´all!
I ordered this one yesterday:
https://shop.brando.com/brando-workshop-full-screen-coverage-curved-glass-protector-samsung-galaxy-note7-transparent_p14575c1547d8.html
I´ve had good experience with Brando for the screen protector for my old trusty SGN3.
But the shape of the screen on the SGN7 has got to be a challenge.
On a flat screen a 10TH of a mm / 5 100TH of an inch doesn´t matter.
Here the shape has to be just right for the sticky coating to make a bubble & distortion free experience.
I saw a screen protector review on Youtube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QQXq0ewUJtU
This product tried to handle small differences in curvature etc. by only applying sticky coating on the edges.
I would have to agree with reviewer. That doesn´t work.
With 20/20 hindsight I might have thought to ask Brando about this before making the order - Oh well :fingers-crossed:
Regards
Elo
Can't wait to see the results!!

I ordered the same one. Hopefully it will work well.
On the other hand, I currently have a Skinomi one on mine (wet application). I'm using masking tape to hold down the edges as it dries and adheres. So far it's almost invisible because I took my time. No rubbery feel either. If my case works well with it I might not even install the glass one.
Leaving the plastic sticker on the back glass for now, though.
Edit: Just read the comment above mine regarding the same TGSP

Lol I meant to write "whose owned". Just got up, sorry.
Either way if I see the screen protector has that tape only on the sides I'll probably just return it.

Screen Protector?

So I'm under the impression that the glass panel that covers the LCD is not made of gorilla glass, meaning it would (in theory) scratch relatively easily. This almost certainly necessitates a screen protector, then.
However, I'm only able to find tempered glass protectors (which would be a great added bit of protection) atm, and I hate them because of the dreaded "halo effect" that totally defeats the purpose of the bezel-less display. I've been a fan of the "helicopter-polymer" screen protectors, as once they're stuck, they're stuck; however, I'm unable to find any of those.
I snagged some of the cheapo "transparent-film" protectors (only redeeming part is they give you like 6 in a pack), hoping that I'll be able to get those to stick all the way down around the edges.
Anybody found a screen protector they like?
watch the youtube video where the scratch test is performed. it is near impossible to scratch the screen. i can't see any reason to use a screen protector on this phone given that the scratch test performed as well or better than any other flagship device
edit here it is

I have the mi mix pro version and using this glass screen protector. http://www.ebay.com/itm/142182915322
Perfect fit but has the rainbow effect on the middle of the screen. It looks like it disappears as time goes on though. It's edge to edge no halo.

Hardness test proved the ceramic is an 8, and the glass screen is a 6 (supposedly on par with most other flagship devices, even though there's supposedly no gorilla glass. I've been using it as my every day for about 2 weeks now, and the screen is pristine. I would like a film protector, but if it interferes with the otherwise gorgeous display, I may just run naked.
The case on the other hand is, in my opinion an absolute must. I like the one that came with it, and it seems like it would be pretty protective. I have no intention of accidentally dropping my cherished device (nor testing to see, even though it's insured), but it seems like minor drops might actually be handled quite well by the OEM case.

Worth Ave Group. Always have had good experiences with them; they've never done me wrong, and they cover accidental damage.

I'll have to check that out for sure. I have never dropped a phone before but who knows. "knock on wood".
I found some pretty cool phone cases on eBay and one on Amazon. Hopefully they'll get here within the next few weeks.

The last eBay link you posted is interesting as it does have what looks like extra corner protection. Might grab me one of those.

How long did they take to get to you? Did you order them to be shipped to the US?

Perfect fit but has the rainbow effect on the middle of the screen. It looks like it disappears as time goes on though. It's edge to edge no halo.

My phone came with this case on it when i purchased it. Do you have a grid of little dots across the entire screen?
Yes it does. You notice it when screen is off.

I just installed this Screen protector and I have to admit that it fits very nicely. No air Bubbles or anything.
Unfortuanely, i can confirm the amazon Reviews, that the Touch responsveness is pretty bad

Thanks. Looks like it'll be a return to amazon then. Maybe I'll go back to film instead of glass. I saw one on ebay for $3.
does it fit even w/ the case on?

whitestone worth the premium?

I'm looking around for a tempered glass with decent touch responsiveness. do we know much about how well WSD will protect the screen vs other protectors? it costs quite a pretty penny. i was wondering if any of you had experience with cheaper ones that'll offer the same level of protection? this one (https://www.amazon.com/LK-Protector...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=YX5Y8Z1JQ3BMGQX5XTF8) is quite highly rated at amazon and has a fakespot rating of A. anyone tried it out?

The link you provided is a product that only has adhesive on the sides, don't waste your time there will be an air gap and the screen responsiveness will be garbage. Like you said those reviews are fake and you would be wasting your time and money if purchased. Yes the WhiteStone dome is expensive, but you get what you pay for. I have had mine installed since Launch and not a single issue, it looks and feels like there isn't even a screen protector installed. For a product that could potentially save your phone from breaking, why skimp out? Would you buy cheaper tires on your car that are much more likely to fail? No.
I do believe that the Whitestone is worth the price.
I have been using tempered glass screen protectors for a few years now and the Whitestone is much easier to install, bacause of the jig that comes with it.
I have installed the Whitestone on two Note 9s. One for the wife and mine.
The only issue I have is a minor one. It seems a bit of excess glue is around the edges and atractslint from my pocket.
The coverage and feel is awesome.
Once you buy the full kit that includes the UV light, only the replacement kit is needed for any other install or phone. The replacement kit comes with the jig, but not the UV light.
I refrained from purchasing a phon ewith a curved screen until this type of screen protector was available. I refused to deal with the ege only attached protectors.
It is a bit pricey, but I highly recommend it. After all, you are protecting a thousand dollar phone. Twice what I've ever paid for a phone.
My experience with the whitestone: It is ok if you dont mind the sharp edges when you swipe from the sides. In my case, air bubbles started to appear at the right edge. Whitestone sent me one replacement which I am trying to sell, because I don't see it working in my case.
Pros:
Clear;
Sensitive;
Warranty (although you have to pay for shipping);
Cons:
Sharp edges;
Air bubbles appear at the edges after some time, 2 months in my case;
The adhesive left exposed at the sides attracts dust/lint;
how do you get the glue off when removing? I bought a twin pack but the first is quite scratched

The glue is attached to the glass, not your phone. Once you begin peeling the screen protector off you will notice the glue is only on the screen protector and your phone is left clean.
does the whitestone dome work with the Note 9 included case? as im fairly happy with the included case for now, but i wanna get the dome screen protector if its compatible.
What is the included case? In my country there is no included case, but it is compatible with the samsung silicone case.

Oh what?! I didn't realise that. Well in Australia it comes with a clear rubber/silicone type case inside the box. I believe it's the same one samsung sell on their accessories page. So I guess it'll be compatible then, sounds like the same one you're talking about. Thanks

I think it's worth the premium. Been using it since S7 days and installed, I think 7, on friends/family phones. Killed itself for 3 displays from drops so far.

A benefit of the vast research, conducted for the purchase of A Note 9 for the wife. Thru that and setting it up for her, I was so impressed that I got a Note 9 for myself. The 8/512 version, of course.
My first non rootable phone in about 6 years.
I am digging it!

I was really hesitant on spending $40 on a 2 pack of tempered glass. But after biting the bullet i couldn't be happier with the glass. It fits and feels great. Doesnt disrupt the touch sensitivity and keeps the premium feel of the phone. I hated that the cheap ones that only have adhesive on the sides and dot matrix on screen made the phone feel super cheap because it felt like you were touching a plastic screen.

be careful, however, if the phone falls and hits the glass film, it does not protect the display and breaks, it happened to me on note 8.
In other words, it protects only from the graff.

No tempered glass is going to protect your screen from cracking. It helps but doesn't prevent it if the hit/drop is right.

If you want a tempered glass screen protector then the only option that works well (IMO) is the Whitestone Dome. The issue is (and I've tried many times) with Whitestone Dome is that the sides of your screen protector may get tiny bubbles even after you think the install was perfect. Mine showed up after a day and spread to the enter left and right side of the protector.
