Lineage 19 - Official - Sony Xperia 5 II Questions & Answers

Recently, the Xperia 1 II has recieved an official Lineage ROM. Since the 5 II has almost identical hardware (afaik, correct me if I'm wrong!), does anyone know how hard it would be to get Lineage on the 5 II? Would that be difficult, or can someone with relatively little knowledge of building ROMs do that?

The best current ROM for the TL-10?

Hey everyone.
I am growing sick / bored of EMUI. I dislike literally everything that they've slathered onto Android. From the notification panel to the crappy lockscreen and everything in between.
My question is this: Which of the (albeit extremely limited) available ROM's for the HAM7 is the best, and as a bonus closest to stock android?
I do realize that flashing these ROM's requires some jumping through hoops, but I think it would be worth it at the end of the day.
The only two ROM's I know of that's working on the HAM7 is KangVIP (this is an EMUI-based rom as I understand, so I would love to avoid it) and the unofficial Cyanogenmod 11. Both of these requires downgrading to 4.4.4, but honestly if that means I can break free from the shackles that is EMUI it would be worth it. Even sacrificing the fingerprint scanner, which is one of the reasons I blindly purchased this phone, would be worth escaping the devastating black hole that is EMUI.
I've also read that, due to the similarities between the HAM7 and the Honor 6 (?) you can get away with flashing ROM's intended for the latter. Has anyone flashed one of these bootleg ROM's and is currently having a smooth, stable experience? Are there ones based on Android 5.1.1 and above?
For the record my device specifically is the TL-10 Gold model (B324).
Cheers. :good:
Huawei doesn't released kernel source for 5.1.1 or 6.0 android so there isn't any costum rom based on this android version. There is only 4.4 kernel source so only costum rom based on this android versions can be available. If there is any good developer...
Bottom line: if you want to flash rom and costumised your system you should bougt some Nexus device or some other popular flagship that has xda community support such as HTC M7 / M8, samsung flagships with Snapdragon cpu...

Help Choosing Chinese Smartphone

Hi,i need some advice...
I'm stuck choosing between 2 chinese smartphones, them being the Xiaomi redmi 4 prime and the Lenovo Zuk Z2 (4 Ram).Been browsing the web in search of comparisons between the 2 but there's not much more than specs vs specs. Can you guys give me some advice.Thank you.
Firstly you kinda posted this thread in the wrong part of the forums. Mistakes happen though so you know for next time.
As for the question, I just got my Zuk Z2 in the mail around 5 days ago and I'm loving it. It has a great selection of custom roms, an active development team, good battery life, better specs than the redmi 4 prime (a snapdragon 625 in the redmi 4 prime vs the snapdragon 820 in the zuk z2) and is around the same price. If I were to pick between the two of em I'd say the Zuk Z2 is probably the one to go with. Just be prepared to flash on a custom rom once you get it since the stock ZUI skin that comes with the phone is... Pretty bad (I'd recommend you flash cosmic os if you have a hard time selecting a custom rom. It has overall the best balance between stability, speed and battery life and it's an officially maintained fork as well)
Hope this helped!

The Zuk Z1 comes with Cyanogen out of the box. The Z2 however usually comes with a special rom called ZUI. Some online (for example banggood) will flash a weird hybrid rom onto the device before they ship it but this rom is usually a bit buggy and flashing a custom rom is recommended.
To sum up
Zuk Z1 Default OS: Cyanogen Mod
Zuk Z2 Default OS: ZUI
You can flash a custom rom easily however no matter what os comes preinstalled on your Z2 so unless you really want to stay on stock you shouldn't need to worry.

When will we see Custom Roms & Kernels for our lovely Xperia 5 II?

Yo guys! It's been a few months since the Xperia 5 II came out and still nothing on the horizon ..
Are there any developers working on a custom rom & kernel? The xda xperia forum is very quiet when it comes to this phone, it's a shame
I would love that one day we could have Lineage OS, or Resurrection Remix, Dirty Unicorn, Omnirom or even EvolutionX. Maybe it's just a dream?
The stock rom is fine but I do would like to have options
I would love to see Lineage on my Xperia 5 ii, I kind of want my XA2 back, which would now be running 18.1. But I guess we have to live with stock rom on this one At least the camera is lovely...

Well, sounds like a starter, but as Lineage enthusiast I'm only looking for a rom without Google, this sounds like the exact opposite. But I guess this one will make at least some people happy ;-)
Working on LOS here. Coming soon!

That's awesome !!
I hope we do see custom roms soon. I'm still using my OP6 and I can't decide between Pizel 5/4a 5G or Xperia 5 II. Would like to go for the Xperia due to longevity but the lack development support is putting me off. If I get one, I will certainly root and remove any bloatware.

Let's hope for it! The device and especially display format of the 5 ii is really nice, and I love that it is compact and fits in my pocket without problems. Lineage on this device would really give a positive vibe about a longevity.
(BTW: yesterday I installed Lineage 17.1 on my fathers ancient Z5 Compact from 2015, everything works just fine and amazingly fast, thanks to getting rid of the google stuff. Now he can use it for some additional time --> that's sustainability. Let's hope for the 5 ii to be as longevity)
Had some issues last Night, but i'm syncing a fresh 18.1 repo with xperia device trees right now. Will take some Hours but i think i can share a first Build the next Days...

Any chance you can test it and tell me, if the camera is still working and has the same functionalities? I'm not talking about the fancy Sony Camera app, but the simple one delivered on stock ROM. On XA2 and Z5 Compact the Lineage 17.1 Photo App is quite ok, but of cause these ones have no triple camera. And as the 5 ii is not cheap I would like to be sure, that this key feature is working properly... Or that I have the possibility to get the stock camera app working.

You can ask directly to the dev, I think he must have tested the image before he released it.
I'm waiting for someone to try it too lmao cause I don't want to lose any stock features.
Anyway I'm pretty sure it will work, otherwise he would have mentioned it in the post I guess

Is there any update on your Lineage-Release? Unfortunately the published version from ken442266 has been discontinued and I don't want to return to stock

LineageOS

Hello,
I wanted to see if anyone made LineageOS work on the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra SM-N986U1. I would consider it a nice replacement phone for the ZTE Axon 7 I have currently but I can't find anything so I am posting here. I currently have the DooGee S95 Pro that I am trying to get the LineageOS GSI of LineageOS 18.1 running but it won't boot.
Thanks!
Good question, wrong thread man
Oh sorry what place should I post it then?
Don't get this phone if you want custom ROMs. I couldn't get Lineage GSI to work but if you can then it's not going to be as good as Lineage built for the specific device.
OnePlus 9 Pro or even literally anything else would be a better choice.
Hello,
Hardware is better than the DooGee S95 Pro by a lot, I can get the GSI to load on the DooGee S95 Pro and wanted this phone because the bootloader is unlockable and we can then have custom rom. I like this phone because 5G, SD card slot, Note series with Stylus, wireless charging at 15w, NFC, and really nice screen. Any recommendation on a better phone then? I am running LineageOS on the ZTE Axon 7 and havent found anything better... sadly.
Apparently the OnePlus 9 Pro doesn't have an SD card slot, the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G has pretty much every great hardware feature I could want ( no mention of a notification LED but yea ) but no mention of good software like LineageOS on it... Q_Q
So nobody's going to port over LineageOS? Too bad.
get a xiaomi if you want custom roms man,.i had plenty on k20pro
I was working on it for a bit but i cant get 18.1 android 11 to boot. it goes straight to bastboot. ive spent hours on it but no luck. 17.1 i got going but ril is all borked, no wolte (which i guess is a samsung wide thing with LOS so i dont know if it is even fixable) no 5g and because lte doesnt work phone calls drop to 3g AND SMS only works on EDGE connections lol. then i got bored and have been playing with smart home crap but thats a story for another day lol. its sad but i think the custom rom scene is dying. its a shame really. all us developers made imprvements and then the big companies copied them and now no one except the REAL nerd hard core users feel the need to root or flash a custom rom on their phone. years ago it was almost a requirement to have a good experience on the device. hell los invented the notification quick tiles.. anyways i had 1 to many beers and went on a tandget there sorry, i'm going to bed now.
if anyone feels like it my WIP tests are on my github
github.com/Albinoman887
its a huge mess with many branches for each repo that are just tests or crap or dont even compile with non descriptive names for comits and stuff but there things that are worthy. (DUB3 kernel merge comes to mind)
I truly like LOS. If some developer could get a stable 18.1 version for the Exynos Variant, I would unlock my phone, and change the OS to LOS

Hello,
What's required to make LineageOS actually work? What help is needed? I'm not an android developer but it would be nice to know what I can do to help.
Thanks
P.S. I also have experience installing GSIs on phones and in my experience the GSIs won't load on Android 11 if it's either the wrong partition type OR for the Android 9 device I have it wouldn't load 11 if the bootloader code had been modified with Magisks and I had to put the boot code back to stock and then it booted so it might be something like that.
Hope that's a little helpful. I know this thread is getting old though...

Lineage on Zenfone 7?

Hi
I want to try Lineage on an old phone before comitting my current Zenfone 8 to it. Unfortunately the Lineage website does show the 8 but not the 7. Has anyone tried it?
Alternatively I have an old Max (M1) but I am having problems unlocking it, besides it is rather slow...
Just bought a Zenfone 7 Pro and am planning to port LineageOS to it, cannot say how long that will take or even say for sure I will be successful as I have never built a ROM for an unsupported device before.
But considering this will likely be my daily driver for many, many years to come as phone manufacturers have universally abandoned features I value and embraced features that I hate, and LineageOS is what I wish to run, I have a lot of incentive to get it working.
