Question Bluetooth - jumping back/back - Google Pixel 7 Pro

Hello,
the following annoying problem:
I connect via Bluetooth to my car (BMW - unfortunately already 5 years old) to listen to music via MP3. Playing and the connection work great.
However, the maximum number of the album is not displayed on the BMW display - but only 1/1. No matter how many songs an album has - it is always shown 1/1. I don't care - but BMW offers the opportunity to scroll through the album on the steering wheel, so that you can choose another song - or that you can jump forward/back - or jump to the next/previous album . Unfortunately, this is no longer possible.
I have already tried different music apps - unfortunately not a success.
I also played around with various options in the developer options - unfortunately not so far.
My BMW has installed the latest software - the latest several years ago - unfortunately there is no newer one
What could this be due to? Is anyone familiar with it? Maybe otherwise someone has the problem?
Many Thanks
Many greetings
George

With my P7P I luckily don't have these problems.
But in the past I had the exact same problems with my old OPPO Find X3 Pro and a Hyundai.
Back then the Hyundais Navigationsystem Software was updated to latest available version (Software still gets updates regularly) but that didn't solve the problem.
So I also tried to fix the problem with adjusting Bluetooth relevant settings in the developer options, without success.
What solved the problem for me in this case, was a firmware update of the OPPO X3 after some time. After months (I think the time frame was 3 - 4 months) of not working, suddenly the problem was gone after an oppo android update ^^
So now the problem on your side is, that you can't clearly find out whether the BMW Software is the reason for your problem due to the fact that the software is really really old.
That is the difference to my Hyundai problem in the past.
Hopefully any upcoming Pixel update will solve your problem
In the meantime I would suggest your to open a call at support.google.com. Maybe they have any additional hints.

Thank you ery much for your help.
Yes - I don't have an overly large hope that Google will fix it at some point - but still - I at least write Google support. Thank you for the tip - I could have come to it myself

[Oreo] Bluetooth Audio settings in Developer options don't stick.

So I've recently updated to the current oreo Beta on my MHA-L29 and I'm facing issues with the Bluetooth audio codec selection. Regardless of what device I connect, Android always switches to the lowest possible settings aka 44. 1kHz streaming and 16bit sample after stopping/starting audio (its enough for a song to end and a new one to start to reset those) now visually the settings don't actually change at all as long as a Bluetooth device is connected, so even if I change to 96kHz the option displays 44.1kHz, however the change in sound quality is definitely noticeable since 44.1kHz has atrocious artifacts on any higher note.
Now my question would be if this is beta related, a general oreo bug or If anyone actually has an idea on how to fix this issue.
Build number: 8.0.0.361(C432)
Bumping this since I still haven't found a fix and maybe someone else has the same issue.
Having the same issue on a Mate 10 Pro, seems to be an Android 8 related problem.
Same issue here.. but bluetooth does work well
Having the same issue, do you think they will fix it?
Updated to .363 today and unfortunately the issue still persists, i am actually starting to get worried now that it will take quite a while for this to be fixxed, if it is adressed at all.
I'm having this issue as well and this is absolutely atrocious.
Ever since I upgraded to android 8 my bluetooth audio sounds like crap. There is very noticable overall hissing and lots of cracking (most noticeably on drums in music).
I also tried digging in the developer options but nothing will stick, this is the first and last time I ever bought a Huawei product.

Im pretty sure Huawei is not to blame for this, since i've seen reports from other phones aswell having the same problem, i believe its an Oreo problem in general that adds ontop of the other bluetooth connectivity issues.
Ran into the same issue myself. Unacceptable audio quality reduction since Oreo update a few days ago. Rolling back to Nougat for now. Based on what I could find, seems to be just as much Google's fault. I really don't like what they did with the notifications either. The app running in the back round is just plain annoying since you can't turn it off.

Is your Bluetooth turned off while you changing the setting. I think bluetooth need to be turned off if you want setting to stick. I tried my phone and it is keeping the setting

I couldnt care less about who's to blame, its unacceptable Huawei pushed this update through with such a major bug in it. If they couldnt fix developer settings not sticking, the least they could've done is make people aware of this issue when they offered the update. I use my phone for music A LOT and if I had known this in advance I would have never updated in the first place. Now im stuck with this crappy audio quality on a phone I paid 655 euros for.
Welp, that's what you get for not waiting around for bug reports I guess....
Does anyone here know if there is a safe way to downgrade back to Nougat without voiding your warranty? I know how to root etc. but I dont feel like totally breaking open my phone again, I got out of that world a while back because I wanted to avoid this crucial stuff not working the way it should stuff. If there is no other way Ill void my warranty but I'm seeing lots of different guides on here and none of them seem that professionally made so I'm kinda on the fence

Fair enough point. You can downgrade safely via the Huawei pc application, just choose update and it should give you the option to downgrade. It will however most likely factory reset your phone so I'd advise you create a backup first.

I downloaded the HiSuite app and there is no downgrade option anywhere.
Edit: Windows 10 antivirus says the downloaded .exe from the official Huawei website is a virus, anyone else have this?
Hello. I've been playing around with the Bluetooth settings and I've found out that while playing Spotify through BT, if I change the kHz to 48 or higher the sound is actually getting better! Although the setting isn't sticking or showing, I'm getting way better sound choosing 48 kHz or better after I press play. Maybe just my phone, but try it out if you're experiencing bad quality BT sound!
Thanks. Will try the 48k sound mode out
I was having this problem with my P20 Pro and Sony WH1000XM2s. Turns out you can get the aptx HD codec and 24bits setting to stick if you select 'Priority on Sound Quality' within Sony's Headphones app. Sample rate is still stuck on 44.1khz however.
Edit: Just turned off bluetooth and set sample rate to 96khz, turned bt back on and it's sticking!

Bought a first Android phone, not working as hoped - pointer for working it out?

I just bought my first ever Android phone, Acer Liquid Zest Plus.
It's not quite working in the limited ways I was hoping it to work.
First, I drive a Honda, which has handsfreelink system for connecting the phone to the car. The phone connects to handsfreelink ok, but then shows some weird behavior, in that when using the car's controls to place a call through handsfreelink, handsfreelink immediately apparently hangs up the call (i.e. the car's display shows that it hung up the call). However, this does not actually hang up the call on the phone itself, as the call gets placed nonetheless and when someone picks up on the other side, I can have a conversation through the car's audio system. Seems to almost work, but the weird behavior just described means that I can't hang up a call without pulling the phone out of my pocket and hanging it up from the phone (as opposed to hanging up using the car's controls) while driving, which takes a lot away from the point of it all.
What could be the issue with this? Note that I had a Blackberry Passport before, which used to work all as intended with handsfreelink, and my family member's iPhone 7 Plus also works as intended with handsfreelink. Is it that my Acer Liquid Zest Plus does not have the necessary bluetooth profile/stack to works with Honda's handsfreelink? Is it that handsfreelink proprietary to Honda and uses something unique, as opposed to being a generic bluetooth device of the kind? Is a bluetooth device link this, used by other auto manufacturers, feature the same generic bluetooth thing, or is this something only Holda can possibly answer for me?
Could updating the phone solve this issue? If so, how? I go into Settings -> About phone -> System updates and it tells me that my device is up to date (I did not update it since pulling it out of the box). I notice that it's on Android 6.0 , and a quick Google search showed some discussions that it is highly unlikely that the phone will get newer Android update. The "Android security patch level" shown in "About phone" says December 5, 2016. That's a long time without a security patch. Should I, and is it possible to, update the phone?
I've heard of rooting an Android device and installing custom Roms before. Where can I find a guide for my device and the custom Rom files? I am hoping this might solve my issue with handsfreelink.
I know I am all around the place with my questions, but essentially, the issue I am having is that bluetooth connection to my car's audio system does not work as expected, and I am wondering how I might fix it. I am wondering if an OS update (either official version by manufacturer or a widely-used custom Rom) might solve this issue, or simply adding an extra bluetooth profile to the phone.
A solution would be awesome, but I'd be asking too much if I was hoping for that. Instead, if anyone can just provide me some pointers in terms of how to do research on what I should be doing to solve this, or clarify some concepts (to the extent you can tell I got it wrong from reading this post) for me, it would be really appreciated.
I've already been to Honda's handsfreelink website and Acer's support page for this product and there's nothing helpful there.
Thank you very much.

VW Bluetooth issues...

So I've recently "upgraded" my car from a Opel Zafira 2009 to a 2015 Volkswagen Golf 7 Variant(stationwagon).
In the VW there's an infotainment system, not a NAVI but still classified as MIB 1 I've figured out.
I've done a ton of searching and it seems to still be an issue with certain cars infotainment systems, I have no issues what so ever connecting my Lenovo tablet to the car and playing Spotify through that. But since there's no phone feature it's kind of not what I'm after.
I've contemplated just getting a used *insert random other brand here* and just use that until the issue is solved, but since I've done quite a bit of reading on this I see that this has been an issue since late Android 10 versions of Oxygen OS and still persists on 11...
Has anyone here found a workaround for this? Is the issue still ongoing if I use a custom rom and most important, is there a stock camera to flash on custom roms?
Needless to say, it's annoying as heck and yes I've actually done every bit of troubleshooting there is. I even reset the infotainment, removed power from it and put it back... The whole shabang so to say...
It's a bug with OnePlus and no matter what settings I use in "developer alternatives" it still keeps randomly disconnecting, sometimes after a few seconds and sometimes it's a minute and a half.
Things I've tried:
- Removed the pairing on both devices
- Removed fuses related to infotainment on car, waited 2 min and tried again
- Unplugged the infotainment from the glove compartment, waited 2 min and connected it again
- Deleted data/cache on the bluetooth app within android
- Tested another device(Lenovo tab) that worked fine.
- Hard reboot of the infotainment(10 sec power button hold)
- Rebooted the phone(obviously)
- Reset system settings on the infotainment
- Asked a VW dealer, they had no idea and wanted me to bring in the car
- Searched numerous VW forums for any updates(has to be done by a dealership I've figured and since it's working with another unit not relevant).
- Every bluetooth setting combination related to bluetooth in developer settings.
- Probably alot more, but it's been a few days now.
Note to self, the Lenovo tab is actually running android 8, so I might have to get a Android 11 device to test with as well.
This is the only community I trust when it comes to custom roms and that kind of stuff tbh, so if anyone has experienced anything similar or found a workaround, feel free to post...
Thanks in advance for any reply. If you experience this as well feel free to says so, maybe it can all be submitted to OnePlus(not that I think they would care) or something...
I've attached a video displaying the issue as well.

Android 11 Bluetooth connection Problems - Any permanent fix yet ?

Phone Motorola One Vision (unlocked but NOT rooted)
Recently got updated (in UK) to Android 11 ~ 24th August 2021
Received a Security Update (dated 1 August) on 1st September 2021
Problem: Bluetooth will not stay connected - phone 'sees' whatever I try to connect to, it might 'connect' but then disconnects - depending on device it may take a few attempts before giving up
Firstly before anyone says 'search for it' - I have.
I've seen many posts about Android 11 & it's 'broken' bluetooth & the many so-called temporary fixes - but nothing works for me
(Clear Cache/Data, Reset Networks, Delete/Upair & reconnect etc) - Only thing I've not done is a full Phone factory reset
When the phone got updated to Android 11 everything went smoothly, except I had to go through all my Apps & (re)give the necessary permission to SD card etc. This also meant my Car Infosystem (SYNC 3 on a 2018 Ford C-max) didn't recognise my phone - so I deleted it & reconnected it & afaik for the week I was on Android 11 the phone stayed connected without any problems.
My Bluetooth Earbuds (cheap pair off of Amazon) still worked without any sound drop-off & My Amazefit Bip watch also stayed connected (apart from the occasional 'hiccup' when the App I use gets an update)
I then received a 'Security Update' a week later & now I've noticed Bluetooth is NFG (No F-ing Good).
When I try to pair up, the device(s) are seen (whether the car, earbuds or another phone) - I get the usual 'Check Pin matches the same as...' messages & I confirm.... then the phone disconnects/reconnects/disconnects until it finally gives up
In the case of the Car connection I get additional messages such as 'Allow Access to messages - An Untrusted Bluetooth device Ford C-Max, wants to access your messages' & I also get 'Bluetooth has stopped' pop-ups
In the case of Pairing up Phones - it just connects & disconnects, sometime when trying to reconnect - it doesn't even try to connect
The ONLY things that seems to stay connected is my Amazefit Bip watch - & ironically this is the only thing that DOESN'T show up as a 'Previously connected device' under Bluetooth
To try & figure this out I've tried all the usual tricks mentioned on Google Searches (as mentioned above), as well as trying different AVRCP & MAP options under the Phones 'Developer options' (even the 'Enable Gabeldorsche' option that apprently is suppose to stabilise connections)
- Nothing I've tried lets me stay connected more than a few seconds.
As I mentioned earlier I googled a lot & I see that Android 11 has had Bluetooth connection problems for a long time (posts I've seen go back to Feb 2012) & it's not just on one particular phone manufacturer - all the solutions given are basically all the same thing repeated, which I've tried (apart from the full manufacturer reset)
But as mentioned - these are 'old posts' (a few months old) & my questions are.....
Is there a permanent 'fix' for Android 11 Bluetooth connection problem ?
Do I/Will I have to wait until a proper fix is sent ? (afaik all this has happened due to the last 'Security Update' I received)
Is there a way to 'roll-back' to the previous Security Update (remember my Phone isn't rooted) - just to prove it's the update that caused the problem ?
or am I totally 'up-the-creek-without-a-paddle' do to a muck up by Google/Android developers ?

Im having exactly the same problem. Looks like it's the security update. May have to wait a month to get a fix I hope.
Sorry, I have the same problem with my One Vision XT1970-3 after upgrading on android 11
Did you give Magisk Bluetooth Library Patcher a try?
Same problem on UK Moto One Vision XT1970 following update to Android 11 and subsequent security update on same dates as above..
Ford Galaxy 2018 Sync 3 keeps disconnecting and reconnecting before giving up. Same Bluetooth "check pin..." message appears.
Everything worked flawlessly under Android 10. This is definitely an Android 11 issue.
It would be great to see some positive response from Google / Android / Motorola.

Not a lot unfortunately.
I posted this problem on the Lenovo/Motorola Community Support forums (3rd October) & it seems not just you & I have had this problem (& not just on Ford Sync 3 either) - it does seem to point more towards the September Security Update though
Some posters have gone & brought new phones because of this problem, & (IMHO) a couple have even been a bit brash in their comments about how poor the support is. (What DID people do before phones could connect to cars by Bluetooth??? - I remember if someone called while I was driving, I just waited until I could pull over & phone back lol)
I admit I would've liked Motorola to release a sort of mid-month 'rollback' security update or something.. maybe even allowed people with problem to download & side install (somehow) the pre-1st August update just so that they could use their phones like they did before (I think you can with a rooted phone, but mine is unrooted).
let's hope they figure it out for the October Security Update

Thanks for the reply. Buying a new phone is a bit extreme. I've found that simply using a cable gives all the functionality needed with the added advantage of charging en route. Need to delete Bluetooth pairing for a quiet life.
I'll wait and watch for news of a workaround or solution.

I recently upgraded from my trusty Note 8 and am finding the new Android version to be completely underwhelming (a common theme, I'm finding). I can't really think of any actual improvements to my daily user experience and two things have gotten worse enough that I have been researching solutions to them to no avail. The first is the main topic of this thread. My older Bluetooth car stereo (not Android auto, but apparently that is equally as broken) sends an "autoplay on connect" request. No individual app autoplay setting seems to matter, it is a system problem. On the Note 8 this was also the case, however it would only actually play if the app was open (present in the task switch windows). This was occasionally annoying but now it is much much worse. What happens now on the S22U is that apps I have long since closed will just appear to open zombielike and autoplay. Even when I am in the middle of opening a music app, e.g. a podcast that I was listening to yesterday will just start playing because it was the last used app.
I can't believe that it's 2022 and Android doesn't just have this fixed yet it has been underdeveloped for YEARS now. Why can't it just be a system wide setting? And why on earth does it insist on playing audio even if it was PAUSED before Bluetooth is disconnected? I have a feeling there is nothing I can do about this, but I wanted to vent.
I mentioned there was a second most annoying issue with the new version of Android. This is that the "double tap to switch" to previous app window is inexplicably slower than it used to be, to the point you might as well not use it. I used to do that constantly and it was very effective. Why on earth they removed this feature is beyond me.
If anyone has a current solution to either of these problems please lmk.
I've also have this issue... Both with the Pixel 6 Pro and same thing when I switched to the S22 Ultra. I'm inclined to think it's an issue specific with Android 12. On my Pixel 5 (using Android 11), autoplay when connecting to bluetooth worked every time. Even with having setup a Bixby routine to autoplay upon connecting to a specific bluetooth device, it does not always work... It's frustrating.
