Hello i am new here in this forum and i wanna know why i cant load my phone with a twrp recovery cause i've install it on my phone but the recovery stay in the official samsung recovery if i can get help this will be very kind thx

There Are 2 Options.
1.try rooting your phone and after rooting it extract the tar by the Odin file you downloaded copy the img file to your phone and open the twrp app and try flashing it to recovery and if u dont wanna have root uninstall it.
2. in twrp reboot to fastboot and extract the .tar file and copy it to the fastboot directory and type fastboot flash recovery (twrp.img) and reboot.

can see my screen?
What stage are you in? Have you got clockworkmod-recovery installed?
I assume you are referring to superuser zip file. DO NOT unzip it, copy the zip file into your Nexus S sdcard, any folder.
Copy clockworkmod-recovery image file to C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools\
1. Reboot into recovery: Power off, hold Vol-Up and long-press Power button. This should get you in FASTBOOT MODE
2. Flash clockworkmod recovery via fastboot: Go into Windows command prompt
Code:
cd C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools\
fastboot flash recovery recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.0-crespo.img
3. Once fastboot is finished, choose "RECOVERY" option on FASTBOOT menu. That should put you in Clockworkmod Recovery menu.
4. Select "install zip from sdcard"->"choose zip from sdcard" and select the superuser zip file that you copied earlier.
5. Reboot and you should be rooted.
Hope this helps.

So it says sending recovery. But its just stuck on saying that and is it supposed to take long?
If you are on stock rom, clockworkmod recovery may be replaced by stock recovery upon each boot.
You can re-flash clockworkmod recovery each time you need it, or disable the recovery restoration. Search this forum for instruction on how to make recovery stick.

Have you got Android SDK-tools installed? Did you install the "Platform Tools" package via SDK manager? fastboot.exe is not installed by default. You may want to install USB driver too. See attached picture.
Test if fastboot is available and working: plug nexus s to pc:
Code:
cd C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\platform-tools\
fastboot devices
If usb driver is working, you should see some device id being displayed.

Please see previous post #11 to test if fastboot/usb driver is working. Nexus S must be in FASTBOOT MODE.
Install Google USB driver package from SDK manager if necessary.

help in flashing

if i want to flash boot.img but its inside the zip folder and inside other folders, how do i do it? i tried to use twrp and flash but it flash the zip only, i want to know how to flash files inside a zip folder or someone told me u can flash using boot loader and i don't know how to do it
Extract the boot.img file on your PC from the zip you have in a fastboot folder on your c drive. Connect your phone to the PC with USB debugging on. Go into the bootloader. Chose fastboot. Now from cmd prompt in windows type 'fastboot flash boot boot.img'. That should do it.

can I rename twrp.img to 0P6BIMG.zip to install TWRP ?

right now I only have access to a computer which I am live booting backbox linux (no windows) and I have been racking my brain trying to get it to run simple adb commands with no luck.
thanks to sunshine and kingroot I was able to unlock my bootloader and root.
Now I just want to flash a custom recovery either CWM (philz_touch) or TWRP .since I can't flash the .img file over my computer if I were to rename it to 0P6BIMG.zip will it flash the img file?

Sdcard will work.
I have attached a .zip with the latest M8 VZW android-info.txt along with TWRP3.0.0-1.img
It's already named correctly, just add to SD-Card and enter download mode. :good:

Change from Philz CWM to TWRP?

I flashed Philz recovery and I want to change back to TWRP 3.1, but Philz will only recognize zip files and not img files. How do I get a zip version of TWRP or how do I flash the img file? I also cannot get Philz to mount to my PC, and a lot of things are crashing on my current rom so I can't install any apps.
Download adb and fastboot. and also mfastboot, extract everything to single folder
download twrp .img from https://dl.twrp.me/falcon/ and copy .img to adb folder
On your device, go into Settings -> About and find the Build Number and tap on it 7 times to enable developer settings. Press back and go into Developer Options and enable USB debugging. From your computer, open a command prompt and type:
adb reboot bootloader
You should now be in fastboot mode.
Download the correct image file and copy the file into the same folder as your adb and fastboot binaries. Rename the image to twrp.img and type:
mfastboot flash recovery twrp.img (you may get partition mismatch error but neglect it and reboot to recovery)
and reboot to recovery thats all

General [Root] Magisk Patched Boot image

Firmware 18.0830.2101.81 Magisk patched boot image.
I have dumped the boot image from Asus payload BIN using Python. Tested and works flawlessly.
Try on your own RISK!
How to install:
- Unlock your bootloader using ASUS unlock app.
- Enable debugging in developers options.
- Install ADB & Fastboot Drivers.
- Extract then copy the attached boot.img to ADB tools folder.
- Open a prompt command in ADB folder, enter command "adb reboot bootloader"
- Select Recovery using the volume keys and power key , then select fastboot.
- Enter command "adb flash boot boot.img"
if the above doesn't make sense, then probably you shouldn't be trying to root using this method.
Thanks.

Does anyone tried applying an OTA update while rooted? Is it sufficient to restore stock boot image, apply update zip file and flash new patched boot image? I have not tried it yet, because there is no TWRP available and I want to backup my data before trying.

Yes you can apply ota update.
When the OTA Update finishes don't reboot click later, then go to magisk install OTA to inactive slot.
THANK YOU! This file saved my phone. I installed some other boot image that wouldn't let me boot the phone, this file brought it back to life.
