Recovery of ASEC Files (.android_secure) - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
I recently found that I had and old .android_secure folder on an unused micro SD card, curious I opened it and found 4 ASEC files which if recovered could have some save data partition left.
Unlikely, I know, the problem is I have went through many of the current known ways to recover these files (smart switch, link2sd, fx file editor, zarchiver, and many more)
These file applications don't even recognize the .android_secure folder exists, but on my pc I can clearly see that it does - with the files.
Is there any application that can recover these files, assuming they are not corrupt?
Thanks,
Shardokon

Disappeared directories in SD card - what best way to recover?

Not sure if it is the same as Orbit2 file corruption problem. But mine consists of a few disappeared file directories - 3 directories all over 900MB. All the other smaller directories were unaffected. And the files should still be there as the space used and space left reported were the same as if the directories were there.
What would be the best tool to recover the directories and the files? Thought about using chkdsk, but I worry that it would just delete them. I have rescuePro bundled with SanDisk, but the files types were not listed in their compatible table.
Anyway to prevent this from happening again?
I used a program (for Windows) that recovered my hard disk from a total disaster. I deleted a partition and created another over it. It recovered everything.
Its name is [email protected] Partition Recovery. Connect you card reader with the card and check it.

[Q] Possible to create a folder shortcut in another folder?

So I'm sure many of you have run into this problem...
Newer phones tend to come with their own disk partition that shows up as "sdcard". They also have an external sd slot which shows as "sdcard-ext" or some variation.
Many older apps assume the built in one is the ONLY sdcard, not realizing that they need to offer the option to browse for other sd cards. They often don't give the option to go up directory to get to it either. So you have to copy the files you need manually from your external to your internal.. it's a big pain in the ass.
So is it possible to create a folder shortcut or symbolic link to the sd-ext from within the internal sd card?
Kinda like in windows, you can create a folder shortcut to c:\windows from c:\program files\
Then you could just open that "shortcut" as if you were opening that folder. That would make things much easier
Sure

File Transfer N8013

I am attempting to transfer TWRP 2.6.0.0 backup files and EFS files from my N8013 to my Win7 desktop. The backups are stored in the "0" folder on the internal SD card. A straight drag and drop only moves empty folders from the N8013 to my desktop. KIES was able to transfer some of the files but not the system and data backup files. I have tried to manipulate all file/folder properties with no luck. I searched and read where others have run into this, but have seen no solutions. Anyone have suggestions?

Use an Micro SD card and back up from TWRP to it. Then plug that in and take it that way.

In TWRP, I copied the folders from the internal to external SD. The folders then copied via drag/drop onto my desktop. Thanks.

Strange internal storage issue - need some advice

I am encountering an issue, for which I have been researching all day with no resolve. Galaxy Note 3.
The issue is that I cannot copy or move files INTO the internal memory.
With Root Explorer, I can read/write/edit files in /system (which verifies root), I can even create a directory, delete directory, or rename in /sdcard, I just cannot copy or move files into /sdcard.
When I connect the phone to a computer, I *can* move files from external SD into "phone" (internal storage/sdcard).
Oddly, Root Browser *can* copy files from ext-sd to int-sd (Root Browser seems to invoke SU just to copy files from ext-sd into /sdcard).
Root Explorer, FX, ES cannot. They all have root privileges and have been uninstalled/reinstalled.
I have other phones with exact same configs, but never had this problem.
Any idea on the cause?

Can you move your apps to SD card???
you can try backing up your SD card data to your pc and formatting it in Fat32..
I am having the same issue! It apparently happened after i did a nandroid restore to stock from CM11. I realized this when certain apps stopped working such as GTA San Andreas (could not save game anymore), and Torrent downloaders (Could not save .torrent files to hpone anymore errors). I dont understand what the issue maybe? does CM11 corrupt Internal storage? im formatting both internal storage and reinstalling my rom to see what happens. hopefully this fixes the problem!
EDIT: Looks like that solved the issue! Im not sure though if me formatting the internal storage helped or reinstalling the whole rom helped. Hope this helps others!

Copy /data partition to a computer

Hello.
Longtime 1+1 user here, I decided to buy me a new phone.
While organizing files to copy on my new phone, I accidentally deleted /sdcard. I'm no noob, but while browsing my internal storage on Windows, I saw amongst my know folders a folder called /sdcard, which would mean its path would be /sdcard/sdcard, so I thought I should delete it, since it didn't have anything inside. The thing is it was actually my /sdcard.
So everything is gone.
Now, multiple recovery software I've tried are able to find my files, but without their original path.
What I'd like to do is use Recuva to do it. In order to do that, I have to make a copy of my /data partition to my computer. All the ways I found tell you to make a copy to your /sdcard or external card. Since the file is large (~54GB), it can't be done on internal storage. But how can I do that in my phone since it doesn't have an external card?
Any ideas?
Look there https://stackoverflow.com/questions/26967862/how-to-make-an-image-of-android-partition-to-your-pc , I hope it'll help you!
Alternatively, you can use large (64Gb+) USB stick with an OTG cable and store your dump on it
