CARPENTER - ICON PACK MANAGER
It's been awhile since I built anything new and something that wasn't entirely revolving around a luancher app, so here I am today presenting my next project that I'm ready to show off, Carpenter. Carpenter is an Icon Pack Manager app built with Google Firebase. This is an app that allows you to keep tabs on your favorite Icon Packs, preview them, inspect them and even extract icons for personal use. You can even "Craft" your own icons with assets extracted from Icon Packs or images on your device. I got the idea for Carpenter actually about a year or 2 ago when I started plans for my next app but I wasn't sure how to approach it without disrupting the content providers who build Icon Packs for us. I had to execute something that did what I wanted it to do but also come with the pre cautions of not destroying the market for fellow developers. This app is designed to allow users to give new life to older icon packs like Moonshine for example or extract Icon Sets for custom shortcuts youv'e made on Windows 11, since Android is now a subsystem in some situations like Waydroid as another example. I wanted to create an app that allowed users to use Icon Packs for personal use but also hold onto the idea of content protection. So, Lets talk deets.
CONTENT PROTECTION
Carpenter is powered by Google's Firebase which in turn requires the user to login to unlock features in the app. The application is also a paid app to prevent piracy. After logging in, Carpenter will locate installed Icon Packs. Any Icon Packs that have been manually installed will be locked up on higher android os supporting the ability to detect installation source. They will not be supported unless installed by a trusted source. Some Icon Packs that allow you to create custom sets are currently not supported. All Icon Packs installed by Google Play have to "Settle" which simply means it needs to stay on your device for one calendar day before Carpenter is allowed to inspect it for Icons Sets. This means you cannot go on Google Play, buy an icon pack, get what you want from it and refund it. Icon Packs also cannot be inspected if your not connected to an internet source which cooencides with not being logged in. Multiple doors shut when one open to prevent content from being stolen.
DEMO MODE
Demo Mode is something I crafted instead of a license verification system. Carpenter will detect if the user side loaded an APK for installation or installed directly from Google Play. If you open Carpenter after side loading it to your device, The application will go into DEMO MODE. This simply locks out "Priority" features as well as some major Firebase powered sections of the application so it doesn't congest the cloud for paid users.
Priority features include the following...
Extracting Icon Sets to your device
Saving icons sets to your cloud
Viewing the saved assets tab from your cloud
View the favored icon packs tab from your cloud
Saving crafted icons to your cloud
REQUIREMENTS
Latest Google Services installed on your device (Login will be disabled but limited functionality will work)
Active Internet Connection
Icon Packs installed from Google Play (Il support other sources later)
Successful Login
Supports Android 5.1+
Icon Set processing will be effected by the chipset in your device and how much ram is available, sometimes, loading icon sets will take some time on older devices. This cannot be improved.

I get the same issue on my Pixel 6 with the test version. Thank you.

Update 1.12 published
-Fixed an app breaking bug that tried to find resources that did not exist on some firmware platforms for a material component text style
-Reworked the Firebase authentication login
-Fixes to the avatar view
-Fixes to the popup view and bottomsheet view for Android 13 (Might still be some style issues yet)
-Deeplinks for Terms of Service and Privacy Statement now properly functioning
-Removed License Validator for a homebrew Demo Mode
DEMO MODE
-Demo Mode is active if Carpenter is side loaded as an apk to your device. It simply detects if Carpenter was installed by the user or by Google Play. If by Google Play, All Features are properly unlocked. If sideloaded, "Priority" Features will be locked out but allow the user to tour the application. Major firebase functionality disabled.

Issues have hopefully been resolved

Updated OP with DEMO APK Link and some extra deets from the latest update

There's currently an issue saving custom icons to the cloud that im currently investigating. The IDs generated for a users asset/icon are sometimes null which the system automatically deletes if its not correct or deleting 1 asset deletes the entire list.
Il monitor this and give an update on this as more information is available.

Yes it worked on Fold 4… Thanks a lot

Next Update will focus on a few things
Their will be a credit system incorporated in extracting icons to your external storage and a limit to saving icons to your cloud. What these caps are and how we manage them are currently in development. This allows me to keep tabs on cloud traffic and limit traffic congestion. These credits and limits can be increased in due time with upgrades.
An add-on store will be added for per said credit system (Likely not needed but some folks may want it). This store will also be used to renew your license once a year for long term users to support development.
The crafting table will gain the ability to view your cloud assets and use them directly while crafting icons. This required me to rework the menu for cloud icons abit while adding an icon preview sheet feature.
There's an issue with IDs not generating correctly for cloud assets and icons. This becomes a problem as this could overwrite pre existing custom icons and assets and could cause the entire list to be wiped by the database if it sees inconsistencies when a user deletes an item. Im looking to resolve this issue soon.
Popup Menus have not been positioning themselves correctly or setting the correct parmas so ive been working on that as well as their entry and exit animations. These menus were inspired by my popups in GCA launcher and will likely be ported back into GCA with the improvements made.
Browsing icons can get alittle slow from category to category so il be looking into improving this across the board.

The crafting table will allow users to access their cloud assets while crafting in the next update. This took abit of maintenance to pull through, just a few minor patches to go until it rolls out.

New update rolling out tonight (APK updated, the apk was signed differently so demo users may need to change apks from previous installations)
Ive integrated a new developer mode so i can work on services easier without being interrupted by demo mode. As a demo user, if you feel something shouldn't be active, please let me know... I think i nailed up the doors properly...
I made some backend changes to the database that required a physical update which includes starting to integrate Cloud Asset Slots and Extraction Credits. They are not active yet but will be soon. This simply means users will have a cap to how many assets they can have in their cloud and how many icons can be extracted in a months time to their device. This can be monitored through the avatar menu on the dashboard.
These credits and slots can be increased with an upgrade but i really don't think anyone will need them unless your really want them. This in turn required a physical update to start services for in app purchases. Users will also be able to renew their yearly license (like if you were given Carpenter for free and wanted to still contribute to funding) and purchase credits and slot upgrades. This should be coming in the next update.
This update also included the following
-Users can now access their assets from the crafting table. This allows more options to user creations in real time.
-Fixed a bug that when selecting an asset to craft from, the craft activity would open twice, this caused issues to saving and creating assets. Sometimes nulling out the icon ID.
-Revamped the style to popup view cards.
-Added place holders for upgrades in the popup view
-Cloud Asset Render Service upgraded to work with the crafting table and be acceasible to other Carpenter services in the future.
-In App Display Messages and Notifications services are active
-Messages popup (should) save the last recent notification by Carpenter
-Icon Packs downloaded by Amazon app store and Samsung Galaxy store are now supported (should be)
-Security logic updated in Icon Extraction and Demo Mode services
There will be a part 2 to this update, just be patient as this next part might take me some time but shouldn't restrict any users from the experience

Took a small break for the holidays, development has continued.
Ive successfully integrated the ability to increases caps with add-ons and so this weeks focus will be to integrate the caps and test them. Caps will be added to slots for cloud storage and how many icons can be extracted per month. This allows me to cap the cloud traffic and increase load times and secure content alittle easier.
Users who renew their license will see alittle "*" symbol beside their name. Il do something alittle extra on the next Milestone update.
Ive improved cloud asset loading in the upcoming update, it may need triggered with a swipe to refresh when viewing your list on start. Im gonna look at adding an indicator or some sort to remind users to refresh their list.
Lots of exciting things in development, ill keep the user base posted here and on the telegram channel.

Almost ready to publish the next update that will push towards the stable branch. Some details about the screenshots.
Upgrades and Code Redemption options will be available. These are not requirements but only to continue to support Carpenter as a quality of life. The app functions perfectly fine without the upgrades but just allows me to limit user traffic.
Demo Mode user experience fixes implemented
Samsung Store and Amazon Store support for downloaded icon packs
Main Fab now has a badge for items in each tab. User will be notified if user has used over half of there asset slots or if they are full.
Popup View has been revised to be smoother and information more available to the user. Credit system and Slot availability now integrated. In App Purchases and interface fixes.
Il be tweaking the main inspection activity before release to the stable branch sonit feels fresh for everyone with new rolls and information to identify.
Thank you for the support.

Added a promotional video above

ive released a new update today on Google Play which offically launches the app out of beta and into the light. Il continue to publish updates on the beta channel with more experimental features and upfront changes but everything seems to be rolling steady as planned!
The apk has been updated above as the demo version allowing users to take a tour and see what i've been working on but the unlocked version is the real treat as my users have experienced.
The new update implements content protection for icon packs. It simply means that users have a credit system for extracting icons to their devices, the credits reset every month. We'll keep an eye on this and see if it needs lowered or increased. The credits can be increased by purchasing an upgrade inside the app. These upgrades are simply integrated to prevent traffic congestion in the cloud.
Users now have a slot limit for cloud assets, same as credits, users can increase the slot count with an upgrade.
OTA Updater and version checker has been integrated in the popup menu.
Security logic has been increased for monitoring where the specific icon packs were installed from. Ive added support for the Galaxy Store and Amazon Store. Again, Icon Packs must "settle"before allowing you to access them which simply means they must sit on your device for one calendar day before Carpenter can access it.
I still have alot of things planned for carpenter but i will wait for the user base to increase first before adventuring into deeper waters.

Starting tomorrow, Carpenter will be free until the new years. Enjoy!

Carpenter is now free until the new years. Enjoy!
A good time to get involved and check out what Carpenter is about. Again, icon packs need to sit for one calendar day before you can harvest and craft with icons. Im working on supporting icons from icon studio and Lawnicons but since their structured alittle differently, itl take some time to work in support.
I am working on a new update that reworks the inspection activity, it'll be more streamlined.

I have a new update being cooked up in the background during this promotion so it should roll out near the new year. During this time, users may notice some traffic congestion until than. (assets loading incorrectly by ID or just slower)
Im looking into an alternative to google sign in, we may look into alternative email sign ups if it plays through correctly. Long as users can be identified individually, i don't really care what we use.
The inspection activity is getting a rework. The activity will consist of tabs and load an icon pack details in categories. APK information, content information, icon categories, view themed icon (vs how the menu action is now) and view missed icons (possibly show system suggestions or alternatives)
Browsing icons by category will get get abit of a rework. Its alittle bit of a mess right now as i really didn't know how to tackle it. Mostly i consider it like a developer preview but i want to integrate smoother loading, search by label or filters, get the adaptive shape loader to respond faster, limit the amount of shapes we can preview or a better way to see them.
Icon packs will eventually have an option to apply them to supported launchers. I cant support all the launchers on the market so I will probably just mimic a similar way from an icon pack library.
If you have any suggestions, ideas, request or concerns, please drop a comment below.

[App] ☆ Energy Bar - pulsating Battery Indicator! ☆ [1M+ Downloads]
Greetings!
Many of you who have a Windows Mobile past like me, might have instantly recognized the thin colorful line(s) in the above image. And for the new Android generation, introducing Energy Bar - a pulsating Battery indicator!
Energy Bar puts a thin line on top of your Status Bar whose length corresponds to your device's current Battery level.
Got a full charge? The line will cover the whole width of your screen.
Battery depleting? So will the length of Energy Bar.
After several iterations (thank you for the feedback, early testers), the App is now feature packed:
Energy Bar can be configured from a width of 1 pixel to cover the entire status bar
Energy Bar puts almost 0% load on CPU, as it wakes up only to reflect any change in battery level
Energy Bar's origin can be configured as left/center/right
Energy Bar can hide on fullscreen content (apps, videos, images, games etc)
Energy Bar can be configured to change colors automatically depending on the live battery level
Energy Bar could have a mono color/multiple color segments/gradient
You can literally assign any color in the world for your favorite configuration
Energy Bar as a cool pulsating animation whenever a power source is plugged into your device
There is something about visual over numbers that keeps you and your device's battery level in sync with just a glance. You may find it intuitive/effective/stylish way to read the battery level, let me know what you think

Greetings!
Many of you who have a Windows Mobile past like me, might be very well familiar with the inspiration behind this application I created, temporarily called as Energy Bar. I saw a couple of Android versions as well, including the one which comes bundled with MIUI custom roms. So, here is my implementation of it (Video Below):
What it does?
Puts an Energy Bar at the top of the screen which indicates current battery level on any screen.
Plug-in any AC power source to start pulsating animation. The animation is detailed enough to let you know where was your battery level when you initially plugged in and what is it's current level during the whole process of charging.
A customizer interface to choose between three colors, Activate/Deactivate, auto start on boot.
The color chosen is always saved and used when the service is activated/deactivated, crashed and restarted, auto start on boot.
When customizer interface is closed by clicking "Close and run in background....", only the bar runs which takes around 3 to 4 MB static RAM.
The load on the CPU is 0% when the AC source is not plugged in. The service gets activated only when battery is reduced.
The Video:
NOTE: The video below is of the TEST version of the App, an updated video will be soon posted.
It's hard to showcase the features in screenshots (attached,) so I have uploaded a video of the app in action:

On some devices, you may have to enable the App in 'Auto-start Apps' settings to survive a phone reboot.
Expect 0 mAh battery consumption.
EB_6.3.3_BETA:
#1 Added support for Android 8.0 Oreo.
#2 If you have faced "Permission denied" issue, this version should resolve it.
#3 On Android Oreo, in Status Bar mode, pulling down Notification bar wasn't possible, it's fixed now.
EB_6.2(.2)_BETA:
* The pulsating charging animation now remembers initial charge until power source is turned off.
* Lots of new Animations now available, including an option to disable it.
* Status Bar mode's background is now configurable as transparent or opaque.
* The UI now has clues on how to delete segments.
* Instructions to keep EB alive on Huawei/Lenovo added.

EB_6.1.4_BETA is a critical maintenance update featuring:
* The App now officially supports Android 7.0
* The 'Screen overlay detected...' issue on Marshmallow is finally taken care of, phew!
* Devices on which App crashes on launch is fixed (E.g., Moto X Pure)
* 'Merge Segments' color configuration now survives a reboot of the device.
* Thickness limit increased to 30
Thank you everybody for the amazing response, more updates will follow, if you love the App, don't forget to share it. Cheers!
EB_6.1.3_BETA:
* Attempts to resolve bugs faced by some devices.
Thank you everybody for sending in reports!
EB_6.1_BETA:
* Auto-hide is now not limited to just fullscreen videos, games, images. It will work on any fullscreen content which doesn't have a Status Bar.
* Support for Android 6.0.
* Flashy Ad replaced with native static one.
* UI glitches are now fixed completely.
* Lot of internal optimization for continued harmony between your device and Energy Bar
Discussion of the Release Version of the App starts from Post #20http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=49385457&postcount=20.
Some screenshots by the XDA community, I don't know if the Bar is complementing their beautiful screen set-up or the set-up is complementing the Bar

The change has already been made, one of the devices in the video is not a rooted phone.
It would be great if you could set different colours for every say 10% increment so green for 100 to 90 blue for 90 to 80 etcetera, also being able to change the frequency of the animations from 1% to 2% or 5% or whatever would also be quite cool.

Every 10% might be messy, but will include the feature in a limited way, say every 25% may be.
Is it possible to change the bar height? That's a very needed feature if not.

I found the particular height I used to be an ideal one, but Indeed adding more customization option won't do any harm. Currently working on something that will significantly enhance the functionality of the bar, will showcase it soon.

Sure, you would be able to experiment with the height!
Off the top of my head, possibility to set a background color can be interesting too. That way if you have a transparent status bar and let's say a blue battery bar on a blue background then you can still see it.
That's all I can think of at the moment.

I'm not sure you would need a rooted phone for that. Simply have the progress color diminish while keeping a "full" color bar behind it/right to it. Two colors to set in this case.

Oh got ya! I thought you were talking about status bar background, which is not possible to change, atleast not till 4.3
My suggestions:
It would be nice to have the option to set the bars position to multiple locations (below the status bar, above or below the nav bar, or even left and right of the entire screen).
The centered mirrored option would be nice as well, as people who use roundr will have the bar cropped at the edge (happens to me with TEAM Battery bar and it's the reason I have it disabled now).
Also having a bar height option and being able to lower the opacity of the bar in case the user wants to have it overlap the clock and all the icons on the status bar.

[APP][4.1+] SwiftOpen - Fast Launcher BETA [v0.9.3]

INTRODUCING SwiftOpen
To speed lovers: this is the app you thought didn't exist but always wanted.
SwiftOpen is a launcher (not a home launcher) that allows you to launch apps, shortcuts, contacts, calls... very, very fast.
Not only is it fast at launching whatever you want, but its interface also allows you to choose it quickly, without even looking at the phone. And this applies to as many shortcuts as you wish.
It is also lightweight and battery friendly!

Appearing on XDA-TV:

TRANSLATIONS:
I can provide native translations for Spanish and Catalan. If anyone wanted to contribute translating the app to any other language it would be very helpful. If so, please pm me or send me an email. Thanks!
Features:
Very fast launching
App launching
System toggles such as torch, wifi, autorotate...
Did I say fast?
Shortcut launching
Recent apps and calls
Guided setup
Folders that allow even more shortcuts
Multiple detectors
Multiple actions per detector
Custom icons for folders
Icon pack support
Alt-tab to switch to the previous app
Tablet (and phablet) mode
Intuitive settings
Battery friendly
Plenty of customization
I have already incorporated many features suggested by xda members. Any suggestion is welcome, and if I have time and I find it appropriate, I'll add it!
LAUNCHING IN PREVIOUS STATE:
Since v0.8.3 SwiftOpen launches apps in their previous state instead of restarting. Some apps behave different than expected, and need to be treated in a different manner so that they are resumed instead of restarted (like Whatsapp and gReader). I have a white list of these apps, so if you find an app that is restarted tell me and I'll try to verify that they'll be resumed if treated differently, to add them to the whitelist.
SOME PHONES:
The app does not work on some Huawei phones because of the rom -apps with floating windows don't work there. At least with those that I've tested. If someone has a Huawei phone with stock rom and it works, please tell me.
It does not work with some Xiaomi Redmi either. If someone has a Xiaomi phone and finds that the app works with the stock rom, please also tell me.
It is not because of the code in the app, but the rom those phones have...
VERSIONS:
v0.4 and v0.5 have not been optimized for Lollipop.
From v0.5.1 and up it is optimized for Lollipop.
In v0.6 the signature and the package name have changed (among other stuff) which means you'll have to configure it again, as it won't install on the previous version but in parallel. I'm sorry about this. The apk is also larger, because of the icons and all the changes in the project structure; it'll improve in next versions, I hope.
0.6.2 uses more ram than it should, and there are a few other issues.
ANDROID ISSUES:
If you go to the home launcher and then launch an app, it won't be launched until about 5 seconds after going home. It's how Google wants it to be, and I'll try a workaround in the future but I'm not sure if it'll work. Nevertheless, the point of this app is not needing to go to the home launcher
BETA:
This app is currently in beta. All your feedback will be more than welcome.
And you can also suggest new features...
If the app crashes it asks you to send me an email, with the Logs. You can see what is being send, so don't worry about your privacy, it is safe!
OPEN SOURCE:
Now I have to fix some bugs, add a bit of functionality, and clean up the code. Whenever this is done (in a few weeks, I hope) the app will be open source.
MATERIAL DESIGN:
I am also working on bringing material design to the app.
Nevertheless the priority is bug-fixing and functionality.

Great job
I'll keep an eye to see how it evolves. By now it looks promising.
It would be great to include the ability to add widgets as well.
Yes, it's planned. I will add the features I have planned so that you know them. But that's after bug fixing, when the app is open source. So it'll take a while yet. At least a month.
Awesome! (some feedback)
I've been looking for something like this for so long. I simply love shortcuts. I've been trying it for a day now and here is my feedback (and some suggestions):
- Settings don't apply inmediately. You have to turn off and close the app and then restart it for them to work. (It would be awesome to see real-time changes (i don't know how difficult that is), for example, for the vertical position of the border detection).
- The alt+tab function is simply genius, i use it more times than i expected. Keep that up.
- Rows and columns could be editable for each table. For example, i got a "Contacts table" (where a folder in my main page redirects to) where i'd like 6 contacts but i want 4x3 icons in my "Main table". So that would be a cool feature too.
- The permanent icon: I don't know it's purpose. If it's only to close the app, maybe an in-app long press button or something will do better and be less invasive for the drawer?
That's all for now, i will edit, if you want, with more feedback on the next days. :good:

Thank you very much for your feedback. About settings, I know that and its in the bug list to be fixed.
Rows and columns editable for each table is also into consideration. Nevertheless I don't think it is intuitive because the cells would not be in the same position.
And if the permanent icon means the notification, it is because to ensure that the app is not killed by the system, it is required to have a permanent notification.
If you give me more feedback it will be highly appreciated
Here's some more
Here are two more things i noticed:
- The border detector sometimes gets graphically buggy and it shows a big rectangle where the thin line should be. I assume it's the detector losing its transparency. I have a Nexus 4 running cm11 M10 (maybe it's only my problem)
- And second, sometimes when you accidentally fast click the border, it opens youtube (in my case the top central shortcut) instead of the one that belongs to the very edge of my screen (which i have empty to prevent this cases in particular, though it seems not to work)
I leave a screenshot with my config also.
About the big rectangle in my phone it happens very very rarely. But I'll fix it as soon as I discover what causes it.
And about launching YouTube, I'll look into it. Nevertheless it shouldn't be necessary to leave that cell empty if you use the "distance to drag necessary..." preference. I know the name is not intuitive but it prevents the detector from opening the launcher when the drag is very short (taps).
Thanks!

Nice work
Awesome app, I'd love to see it fully perfected!
Here's my feedback:
1. When the launcher is activated when in SwiftOpen Settings, the activity stack is all messed up, (especially if you go into creating a new table and opening the launcher while configuring it). While pressing back, the same activities come repeatedly and I have to press back a lot of times to exit the settings. Not a big issue, but a rough edge to be polished. I think it can be solved by providing a separate task stack for the launcher activity alone, by specifying a
Code:
android:taskAffinity
for the launcher activity in the manifest file.
2. Android limitation of launching an activity from a service only after at least 5 sec, is unfortunate. I was riddled with the same problem, however to overcome that, I replaced the activity and made the entire thing "draw over other apps". I am not sure whether it'll work properly in this case, but worth a try anyway.
I'll come back soon for the updates.
Edit: I guess point 2 is in place, since I don't see the delay anymore.
I noticed the stack issue and forgot to write it down, so haven't tried to fix it. I'll try as soon as possible. Thanks for the feedback!

The "Distance of drag necessary..." works just perfectly fine!
I also noticed the stacking-back problem but i thought it was only me...
Keep up the awesome job!
Edit: Trying out the new v0.3 and noticed one thing, it's hard to explain so i'll try my best.
When you swipe away the apps from the "recent menu" (i dont know how to call it, it's the bottom right soft button on a Nexus4) and you leave it completely empty, using the Alt+tab function closes the app everytime.
It may be silly but that's a bug i think (although not very critical )

Thanks for telling me about the name. When I looked for it it didn't appear (or I didn't see it). Nevertheless I'll put Swift open - Launcher or something like this, in the play store.
About drag and drop, it's in the long lost of to-dos but not a priority. First I have to fix some bugs. Thanks!

[APP][2.1+] HybridLauncher - Open Source

Im sorry, but as I'm not able to create external links on XDA yet, you have to enter the urls on your own. If I had been able to create a DevDB project, I would have done it.
HybridLauncher
HybridLauncher is a completely new type of Android-Launcher!
It's designed to be highly configurable and innovative.
Screenshots:
As I am currently not allowed to insert images, please have a look at hybridlauncher.bricklore.de
In the past, the underlying principles of Launchers have significantly differed from those of desktop computers. In particular, the homescreen was only able to show Widgets and Apps, usually arranged on a grid, and usually only able to display a finite (small) number of icons at once.
We adapt the concept of desktops to smartphones by providing a homescreen whose capacity is limited only by your phone's memory and without constraints on the type of items it can show.
We improve the concept of desktops by providing not only completely free positions, but also arbitrary tilts, sizes, and aspect ratios of the items' icons. The homescreen's size is dynamically adapted, such that an infinite number of icons can be displayed.
Technically, the homescreen is simply a folder. Actually, every folder can be used as homescreen (and there's an effectively unlimited number of those). Other folders can be directly accessed (the HybridLauncher also doubles as a file manager) and individually designed, just like the homescreen.
This is solved in way robust against changes of your ROM:
The layout of every folder is stored in small file (".layout") directly within the folder. Thus, if you change your ROM, by reinstalling the Hybrid Launcher, you instantly recover your homescreen (desktop).
HybridLauncher is available in two different versions: "Lite" and "Full". While you can enjoy full functionality with the Lite version, it shows a permanent notification in the statusbar.
Unique features of the HybridLauncher include:
Unlimited homescreens with individual backgrounds
Real files on the homescreen just as on the pc-desktop
Freely positionable items with optional grid or magnetic axes
Items individually adjustable
Item size and rotation continuously adjustable
Dynamic layout-size
Direct execution of shell-scripts
Links to other folders and files
"Open with" dialog as known from PC
Highly adjustable
Available for Android version 2.1 up to 5.0+
Data privacy is our highest priority
(HybridLauncher does not require internet access, no data will be submitted)
For maximum transparency, let us explain why HybridLauncher requires the following permissions:
VIBRATE: When you long-press Items, your phone will vibrate.
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: HybridLauncher is a filemanager. Thus, it should have permission to write on sd-cards. In particular, if you want to use a folder on the sd-card as homescreen, then a .layout file needs to be created on the sd-card.
WRITE_MEDIA_STORAGE: This is generally the same as WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE, but on newer devices (5.0+) the access to the external sdcard is blocked by default and needs this extra permission.
READ_CONTACTS: Contacts can be placed on your homescreen (e.g. to open the SMS app quickly), so HybridLauncher has to access your contacts data. HybridLauncher will not submit any data (have a look at the source code).
SET_WALLPAPER: An app needs this permission to change the background image.
SET_WALLPAPER_HINTS: For background parallaxing the system has to be told the size of the wallpaper.
Information:
HybridLauncher is available in the Google PlayStore, or on my website (hybridlauncher.bricklore.de).
HybridLauncher Lite:
Play Store: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.fluxnetz.hybridlauncher_lite
Mirror: bricklore.de/android/hybridlauncher/release/hybridlauncher_lite.apk
HybridLauncher is OPEN SOURCE and licensed under GPL v3, you can view the source here: git.bricklore.de/hybridlauncher

I have just reimplemented the wallpaper scaling, which should fix the problem.
Please have a look at the update and tell me if it worked for you!

Since your launcher is open source could you please add it to F-Droid? Would make it easier for people not using play store or gapps like myself to keep it updated than periodically checking your website

Looking good
It's nice to see a launcher that offers something slightly different. So many of them just seem clones of each other. The ability to place icons anywhere and not be constrained to a grid is something I've not personally seen before.

Although it seems quite a bit of work to do, I will hook myself into it right now.
--UPDATE--
It's not that easy for HybridLauncher, as the git repo is hosted on my own server which makes things more difficult (no https, minor problems). Additionally fdroid is not able to build from these souces without "understanding" the exact instructions (One has to preprocess the .java and .xml files in a special manner)
Unfortunately I wasn't able to figure out how I can add a prebuild binary .apk to fdroids repository. If you could guide me, I would supply those binaries until I have fixed my server issues.

I'm not a developer so I'm afraid I can't be much use troubleshooting your issues adding your app to F-Droid. I'll ask my friends who are and see what they say. You could also ask on the F-Droid forums, they are always willing to help add a new app
Thank you, really good work.
I cant download from play store....maybe its banned in my country....please can you provide apk or link to apk dwonload?

[APP][OFFICIAL] KWGT Kustom Widget Maker (Android >= 4.4)

KWGT is KLWP little brother, if you do not want animations and per second updates or just need a widget, than, this is it! Same great customization, global properties, layers, effects, complex objects, live maps and a LOT of data, weather, astronomy, world clock, rss, you name it! And you can copy objects from KLWP too!
App is available on the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.kustom.widget
Or via manual download here: https://kustom.rocks/kwgt/apk
Use KWGT awesome WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) editor to create you own designs and display any data you need, at once and without draining your battery as many others tools do! With Kustom Widget you can create customized Digital and analog clocks, live map widgets, sophisticated Battery/Memory meters, randomly changing images, music players and much much more. Imagination is the limit.
Official XDA Threads
Kustom Komponents Gallery (AKA reusable Widgets inside Kustom)
Kustom APK Skins Pack
What's the difference with Zooper, Mycw, Buzz or UCCW??
You have Komponents which are like widgets inside widgets or reusable items inside the editor. So for example you can create a clock and redistribute it as a module for KWGT, users will just add your clock and change the options you expose (like colors and font), there are many examples online on the store already or you can check the dedicated thread above
You can download content directly from HTTP, so you can have a Google Map with the city you are in directly in the widget background if you want, or use Street View, or you can have a Komponent that does that for you like this, you can add it with one click
You have global variables, so you can set a color once and then use it whenever you like, so, when you want to change it you just change the global and it will change the color everywhere in one click, this allows users of your theme to change color easily
You can create touch actions that will hide / show elements based on touch, so you can show full weather data when someone clicks on a weather icon and then hide it automatically after X seconds
You have containers, so you can group items inside an object, move them together, apply effects and rotation to the entire group
You have built in music support, so music will work without any additional tool, no music utilities needed, it just works
You have more effects, like long shadows, morphable text, blur images and so on
You can extract colors from images, cover art or anything downloaded from the internet (like kolorette does, but builtin)
You can use formulas on any property you like, no need to use "advanced parameters", you just turn a property into a formula and then you can do anything you like
You have full support for different location, so you can apply a location to any group and make a world clock in seconds, locations are then easily accessible from the settings
You have much more functions, you can download text from HTTP, use regular expressions, parse RSS, XML and JSON, do math with dates, create timers
Much better resizing, the widget will resize automatically and touch will always work on any module regardless of the orientation
A wizard to create APK skins in seconds without any Android development knowledge or additional tool except the JDK
Last but not least KWGT is much much more battery efficient, you can check this easily with a good battery monitor like better battery stats plus, Kustom has 2 processes so you can clearly see the difference between the editor and the real widget/wallpaper service)

I've been waiting for this thread. Awesome app!!
Good
:good:
I really like this app but coming from zooper, i found some most needed features missing like SMS, missed calls, gmail etc. I hope you include these along with whatsapp, facebook and twitter.

So unread counts are planned, for SMS missed calls and Gmail i will add a plugin if you are running android < 6.0. Whatsapp / FB and Twitter have no way to get unread counts BUT i will add notifications support so you will be able to count unread notifications. Stay tuned

Great! it will be great to have most of zooper's customization features. Is there anyway to change the weather iconset? I liked zooper's resizable vector icons with option to change its color and alpha opacity.

Yeah sure, in KWGT you can even use SVG files for that and distribute them as Komponents, please check the "featured" section when adding a Komponent you will see many for download or search for Weather Komponents around, there are also some tutorials on the official page
Taking Zooper looks like abandonware, tryed this app. Look good, but placing text is a crime. Using Zooper you can give an area a destiny of text and regulate the max amount of lines, etc. Within KWGT I don't have real control over text items. This is a must have
Great potential....but not there yet (no buy yet). Hope it will (Love tweaking my homescreens!)

I can add the max number of lines on next release, very easy, i do not however understand the "etc", what else is missing? Also did you check the list of things that Zooper cannot do compared to KWGT? Its here. I know i am biased but i think KWGT is years ahead.
I don't doubt that Already seen some nice extra's
I also see a lot of similarites with Zooper, which makes me think it is based on in a new iteration (which makes me doubt for buying before I know it fits). It also could be a new app which uses Zooper and takes it a level further. (Seen a reaction in another thread, other people are doubting because of this). My goal: Getting the right app to do the things I want with my home screen And yours looks promising
My main problem is the widget size, compared to the text control. I understand you translate 720 to all other devices. But if I edit "my widget", it only gets a width which is maxed for a halve or third of the screen (On my Galaxy S6 using nova launcher). This makes editing harder to do. Scaling is one option, but it does not yet works practical for me (PEBKAC ?)
Also changing orientation looks like it is missing a correct scaling (widget gets wider, but it looks like it is smaller). But it changes, instead of zooper . There is also a lag when changing orientation (default redraw timer, not reacting to orientation switch).
What I like would be a text region on my canvas, which I can position and give a height (or max height) and width.
Dimensions are now based on
- Fixed width, which does not give me enough control to position multiline text (control is lost especially in the vertical)
- Fixed Font height, which results in text running out of the screen
- Fit width, which does not use the amount of space in the vertical
My suggestion would be to separate the text and text region (settings).
- Setting the dimensions: (width fixed or relative E.g. 100%, height), give the postion (fixed or relative)
- Setting the font info: How to use the region e.g. fixed font size, fill, vertical/horizontal alignment, max amount of lines/single line, (max amount of characters ?)
The etc is/was a lazy way of saying the above

This has nothing to do with Zooper, i started KLWP (and then KWGT) because i felt options on the store were really too bad in terms of resources and features and UI, so this is inspired by other widget makers (and wallpaper makers too) but completely on its own, so, you should avoid thinking about Zooper when using KWGT as its quite different on some fundamentals.
Anyway you do not actually need to buy KWGT since all features are available in the free version, but if you buy it and you feel you want a refund in, say, 1 month from now, just drop me an email, will refund.

The widget is different from the live wallpaper, in the widget with no scaling "720" means the shortest side of the widget (so the height on a 4x2 or the width in a 2x4), but you should not care about that since there is no limit on that anywhere and scaling just changes how that size is interpreted (so with scaling set to 200 720 will become 360), not sure why is impractical, it just works and scales correctly (Zooper does not even scale, if you change the widget size you have to relayout manually...). If you scale a KWGT it will redraw and adapt based on its size automatically.

You need to set Orientation to "AUTO" in the Widget settings, by default KWGT expects that your launcher orientation is locked. If you set it to AUTO it will draw properly in both orientation rearranging everything based on size, it will still have some lag, like 100/200ms depending on the complexity because KWGT will redraw everything (this is different from Zooper / UCCW they always draw both the landscape and portrait so there is no lag but they are much less efficient because you end up drawing something that you do not need most of the times doubling the resources required like RAM and CPU / Battery).

You can do max amount of characters or even ellipsize using $tc(ell, text, 10)$ for example, that will cut and if larger add "..." at the end. For everything else i think having the max number of lines combined with the fit width will do exactly what you want.
I was a zooper user for many years, and like others I began to realize that it appears to be an abandon product - certainly there were no updates for a long time.
I was looking to where to go in the future, and looked at all the similar products. KWLP (KWGT was not available at the time) appeared to be the most sophisticated of the alternatives.
I discovered that I was able to replicate all of my zooper widgets in KWLP - and it gave me even more capabilities. The only personal downside was that I prefered widgets (and the ease of placement on a page) to the live wallpaper. Then KWGT - gave me everything. In a very short time, I took all of my zooper, now kwlp items to kwgt. I now consider kwgt a complete (and then some) replacement to zooper. Bottom line, there was a small learning curve, but once past that I have everything I had with zooper and then some. On top of that, kwlp/kwgt is under constant development and super support from the developer. You can see from the responses above that he takes customer support and product quality/development very seriously. Zooper has no active development and I question if there is a future at all.
kwlp/kwgt has a very active user community on g+ (frankly I like xda forums better) - but there is alot of community and developer support.
Basically I made the switch and am very happy to have done so.

Is it possible to backup (not export) my widget config and reapply it to a new widget?
PS, the config utility is very heavy, sometimes it loads up to 5 minutes. WTF?
---------- Post added at 09:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:57 PM ----------
One more question. Can the progressbars use a formula as a parameter? Or only fixed parameters? And can a standard progressbar (battery) use a custom number of sections?
Not bad, I try
The latest version has a strange bug. $nc(csiga)$ often freezes and constantly displays 9 (not 99!) until I lock the screen. I never had this bug on Zooper, so it's not hardware or firmware.

This loading issue has been reported by more than one user, i cannot reproduce it on my device and it does not happen on the live wallpaper version (KLWP) so i can't really understand what its going on, can you create a full bug report as explained here: http://kustom.uservoice.com/knowledgebase/articles/615645-send-debug-data (follow the android bug report section), that will be very useful
To copy a widget into another you have 3 options:
Open the first, select all items press "copy" and then open the second and press paste
Export and then Import
Use Komponents (and export them as well)

Yeah sure, to create a formula based progress bar just do the following:
Set progress to "Custom", a new option will show called "Progress"
Select the option called "Level" and turn it into a formula
Use a formula that returns a value between 0 and 100 ($bi(level)$ for example)
Select the sections you need

Hi Frank,
I am creating an IOS style status bar and it is coming up nicely but i ran into a few issues. I am using a formula to set the visibility to ALWAYS or NEVER when bluetooth, airplane mode, wifi, carrier bars etc are turned on/off. It works perfectly for airplane mode, wifi, 3G/4G etc but there is a delay of say 5-10 seconds when i turn bluetooth and alarm on/off. Is there a way to speed up the refresh rate?

So for Alarm its not currently because android does not actually "broadcast" the change, i am working on a better approach on Android 5.x or better but i am not sure that will entirely fix this.
For bluetooth it will be fixed in next release (just forgot to register a listener for that)

Great! I look forward to next release. I forgot to mention that 3G/4G [ nc(dtypes) ] also takes a while although it is usually less than 5 seconds but delay is still there.
Question: Suppose we have 3 items like shape1, shape2 and shape3. They are horizontally or vertically displayed inside a stacked group. If i set the visibility of shape2 (middle one) to "NEVER" it disappears but it still takes that space and there is a big gap between shape1 and shape3. Is there a way to snap shape3 to shape1 so there will be no gape if the visibility of shape2 is set to NEVER? This is currently causing some design issues and i can't find a way to fix this.
Cheers.

I'm creating this thread to invite anyone that have interest in using Android launcher app to get some user experience feedback and post it here for me. Please also test if it has some bugs, the phone manufacturer/model and which ROM you're running are all needed very much for me to fix them.
Sorry, for now is English only, soon I'll put back the other languages.
People always need to use smart phone with one hand while driving, working, drinking coffee or eating something, and the large screen smart-phone made you very difficult to use at that time.
OF Launcher used newly design with longitudinal slide, one finger will touch things easily. Users can slide to open multiply drawer with customized wallpapers which will get an unprecedented visual experience.
OF Launcher shows your apps at the bottom where you can touch them easily, without icons and widgets cluttered your beautiful desktop. Then, an amazing thing will happen. You can set your own pictures or even stars’ posters as app folders’ wallpapers, which will be shown on your phone screen totally, and these personalized wallpapers will make your phone stylish.
Rather than spending a long time in other old launchers with all your 10 fingers, just swipe and slide to manage your Android with one finger will be a better choice. The quick access app drawer let you get where you need to go comfortably. 10+ desktop gestures allows convenient access to your favorite apps, system settings, switches and all your phone widget with just one hand. You can add more folders and arrange your favorite apps to always be within your reach.

It's an awesome concept for a launcher...I know it's in early stage but still I would say it need a lot more refinement.I am running it on a Redmi Note 3 with official MIUI Dev ROM version 6.12.15.
Some suggestions from me
1. Please add icon pack support for the launcher
2. Support for system animations
3. Try not to use in-built music player, make it as a controller for the player that's running.
4. Make the side menu on both sides work by edge swipe. Feels better
5. Option for custom app groups
6. You may provide widgets in the wallpaper area which are related to the current app menu/app group eg. On home group it may show weather and time or something (news feeds maybe) in the same way music shows music control social may show social feed (I guess you get it now )
7. If the above request is done, the menu on the right will be free for your awesome imagination.
8. Provide option for live wallpapers in even though it's in the area where wallpaper is, as KLWP+OF launcher will do wonders.
considering bots? like google asistant
Consider not using Google for only download. Till then I cannot use willingly

Hi
Here is OF Launcher APK shared on my google drive.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B9ysdhkEPKVKU1pPTXNZdmdmSUE
Sony M2 Aqua - EagleXperience (based on 5.1.1) with locked bootloader & xposed
So far I LOVE this! It's perfect in terms of being customizable but not overwhelming. (I often waste lot of time planning out a homescreen only to tell myself I'll get to finishing it eventually.)
I pretty much agree with the above comment (icon packs would be cool; more widgets, though I like the way they look on the hidden side menu, etc.)
1. I like the wallpaper that shows up when the launcher first starts up, the black/orange space one, but can't find it in the folder wallpaper picker. Can you make that one available?
2. Other than the home folder, the app drawer isn't functional. I tap on any app and it says "unknown" (screenshot won't attach). They do open from the home folder, though. (Also can you make the "trending" and pandora box fully hideable?)
3. It takes a while for newly-downloaded apps to show up in the launcher.
4. Allow non-google engines in the search widget. Connect the music widget to the media player app.
5. It seems to use a lot of space, especially for how simple it is, but I haven't scrutinized every other launcher to compare, so maybe it's normal.
I'm not on Facebook, so I can't join the group. But I'm happy to continue giving feedback/usage statistics to help you out.

A last beta version, official version will be released this month
Hi all,
Here is a last beta APK you can download
http://www.oflauncher.com/oflauncher.apk
What we need you help to test this time before official version launch:
1. Is there any other problems when you are updating?
2.Will it make your phone crash or slow?
Let me know the problems’ details, so that I can check it and improve OF Launcher in the next 10 work days. I will focus on solving this kind of problems. Thank you in advance.
no longer can find app in google play. Am I missing the updates? Also is it possible to maybe group apps in a small folder that could be placed on picture area on top of each app folder. An if so can it be an optional to show same said mini folders on top of all main folder pic rather than have to make same mini folder for on pic on each main folder. Also maybe instead of making it compatible with icon packs. You could just make an option to change Icon picture to a personal gallery pic you can resize.Love your launcher. Willing to pay up to 20$ just to keep add free. Also not sure if it's been mentioned. But on samsung s7 edge you can't put same app in different folders.Automatically removes from previous folder once added to a new one.I think you may of fixed this but also notice when switching from hd,to fhd,or wqhd apps start disappearing.Once said resolution switched and kept on for a day said appsdo eventually return.Thank you again for hard work. Sould be top ten launcher 2017.
Good job!

Hey, I've update a new version. Please have a try and give me some feedback.
Launcher settings backup ?
Would you be able to add backup option for launcher settings. Whenever the app crashes, i ll have to redo all the settings. Instead it would be easier to restore from backup
Thanks

Just installed. I must say it's a very fluid launcher. Keeping a clean home screen with the draws sliding out is real nice. Great job! Looking forward to the future updates.
