Question Is there anyway to fit more app icons on the home screen the default - Google Pixel 7 Pro

Hello, I have a Galaxy S10+ and I am setting up my new Pixel 7 Pro, but I have a problem, I have set the font size and display size to the smallest and set the screen resolution to the highest but I am still not able to have 5 icons side by side as used to on my Galaxy S10+, can you fix that on the Pixel 7 Pro or is that not a possibility.

Hold an empty spot on the desktop, then go to wallpaper & style, set the grid size to what you want on the bottom of the menu.

Ahh ok, had totally forgot that was the cause, lol such an easy task.

Or alternatively avoid Google's launcher and go for something infinitely more customizable and superior. I'd advise Nova Launcher.

Or group them and with one extra touch you can quadruple the number available.

Plus one for Nova Launcher.

+2012-ish, because that (or longer?) is how long I've sworn by Nova Launcher Prime.

I seem compelling as the stock launcher with the search bar in the buttom and the at glance in the top sucks ass.
Do you miss anything by installing the nova launcher or do you just get extra stuff and another launcher, like is there any reason to stick with the default launcher other then keeping it stock.

I like to use the default apps, including the launcher, when they allow me to do what I want/need. But when it comes to the Google/Pixel launcher I feel that Google is acting like Apple in NOT ALLOWING me to remove the STUPID search bar! I have never needed or used a search on a cell phone! So I do not want it taking up my screen real estate! So then, it's back to Nova Prime!

Ues I am thinking the same also for the "At a Glance" stupid thing, google, please allow me to remove these things.

~86 apps, 12 folders, 8 widgets - made to look like 15 app icons and 4 obvious folders (and 8 widgets). I might've lost count of the apps and skipped a few. In Nova Launcher Prime, with some "folders" set to behave like apps unless I swipe up or down on their icons. Some icons I have different swipe up and swipe down actions to launch other frequently used apps that I don't really need an icon for.

Pretty simple and functional
For me simple is good.
which widget is showing the clock, current weather AND 3-day forcast? (I'm using beautiful widgets, and I don't see that option.) Oh, and I'd show my homescreen, but it changes too often.
Thanks

Yes it is.
I spent hours (literally) poking away at Adwlauncher EX and this is what I came up with. Compared to what it used to be (first post) I like being able to use more of the screen and force widgets to be the way I want...but still not sure about the smaller icons. No way to have the exact same icons in Adw?
I would very much like for this thread to survive like similar threads have on other subforums, so I guess I'll try to breath some life into it once again.
I ended up going portrait only for my homescreen and like it:

Here's mine:
Screen 1, Home:
I set quick launcher on the droid logo:
Screen 2, Work:
Screen 3, Reading another circle launcher on the book holder:
Screen 4, Media, launcher on the ipod center button
Screen 5, Games, Circle launcher again on pointed lines
thats it, well atleast until i've getting bored and start build another one...
What launcher and what's the notebook thing in the third pic?
sorry, i forget to tell the ingredient:
-adw launcher 1.3.3.1
-palmary weather
-circle launcher
-desktop visualizer
-minimalistic text
-multilive wallpaper
the notebook is a picture i found on google and photoshop it lil bit, as for the application shortcut on the left page, i use desktop visualizer with exported pen memo drawing for the icon...
Is being able to customize the top toolbar with shortcut to apps etc only in normal adw or have I missed it in adw launcher ex?
Im sorry i dont understand your question...
afaik the top toolbar is uncostumizeable, as for the screen icon on the left I use laucher action shortcut and yes perhaps it's only available on the adw launcher ex version
Seems to be a difference between ADW launcher EX versions then. On mine, which is the latest, it seems there's only the drop-down menu button and no way to change it
That home screen is really cool dewadewi. Thanks for some cool ideas, I was hoping for a new kind of homescreen setup other than the common android/honeycomb one. I like the launchers.

[Q] stretching a widget

Is there a way to stretch the news @ weather widget so it completely fills out the screen horizontally? Here's a screenshot taken on my n4: http://imgur.com/7GzoAO2
I want the widget to be one cell wider, but it's not resizable. Any possibility?
I think you would have to use a different launcher.
Is there no other way? I actually want to keep the Google Now launcher.

Google launcher doesn't allow widget resizing. What is it about GEL you want to keep? Maybe you can reproduce it.
I'm just not into all that customizing and so on, i just want stock Android. This is the only widget i can't resize.

Maybe if you go for something like Nova, you can have it look exactly the same as GEL. the only difference would be that instead of swiping right to get to google now, you'd have to add it to a swipe up gesture or something.

Yes it does, as long as the widget in question supports it, and the News & Weather widget does support resizing.
Long press it, release and you'll see the edges are now highlighted; drag the dots to resize.

I tried making it look like stock Google Now launcher but i don't think it's possible. Don't like how it looks.

Links aren't working for me so not sure what you mean. You can set icon size to whatever you want. Just go through all the menus one by one.

You need the paid version to resize the icons.
Long-press the app drawer icon to change it to the flat white version.
Also, the Search Bar can be set to the same size if you play around with the number of rows.

Nova vs stock

On the s8, wanted to get opinions of people whom tried the stock launcher for some time, then moved to NOVA launcher,
Do YOU see a difference in lag experience between the two launchers on the s8 ?
(Not worried about customization differences)
I started with nova prime but slowly over time have gone to TW, it's not near as bad as it used to be. Didn't notice much lag on either launcher but I've disabled quite a few services.
Nova launcher is much smoother everywhere but I back to TouchWiz. Love the new TouchWiz.
Sorry Nova you not my preferable for this moment.
I have been using the Nova Prime since its release.
I always install it on any smartphone first of all. However, this time I gave a small chance to the new Samsung UI and was a few days with it.
No way, the Nova is way better/smoother.
Futhermore, the Nova launcher equalizes
the performance of any smartphone. For instance, my previous Note 3 and 4 got the same smoothness with the Nova as compared to the S8+.
Nova for me; much more flexibility and control of my home screen. widget placement is very limited with TW, not so with Nova. and now Nova allows you to swipe left and show Google Now. my (simple/clean) work layout is below . the only drawback using Nova vs TW is limited (if any) use of TW widgets.

thanks for the compliment. this is basically all i need to see when i'm working. as an FYI, the navbar buttons are from a substratum theme and @Tigerhoods 35pt high navbar overlay. also, my Nova desktop grid is 16x11; this allows for precise placement of widgets so i can get the widget layout exactly like i want it.
Going into developer options and cutting the animation speed helps a ton without sieging up the interface
nova is way better than stock!
Nova FTW
Nova for me! Every time I get a new phone I right away root and remove/uninstall stock launcher and have Nova as my main. I LOVE the fact that I can double tap the home screen to lock the screen (less pressing the button - less wear on button). On top of that it's just an over all smooth and fast experience with Nova
Thanks for the comments, and im aware of all the advantages nova has, But intrested in overall lag experience between the two launchers on the s8

I tried stock, nova and pixel launchers. It's very clear that stock is the winner.
I also asked my iPhone friend what he thinks is the best one not knowing which is which and not knowing anything about them, and he chose stock as well.
Edit: spelling
I tried TouchWiz but it doesn't allow me to resize my widget. And I don't believe I can achieve this setup with TouchWiz.

They may have done away with them but I doubt it. Search in settings for "status bar" it's likely due to a 3rd party app interfering.
Same in safe mode?
Good Lock Quickstar isn't installed and stock launcher? The status icons should be visible on home page...
Malware is another possibility.
I use a combination of different settings in Android 9 and 10 to disable all of the icons on the status bar.

I agree that one UI is a thousand times better than it used to be; I have been using samsung phones since the S1, and I remember how horrible it was for a very very long time.
In spite of that, I prefer the customization's you can do with Nova Prime, and, aside from a few years recently being an Iphone fool, I have gotten used to Nova over several of my recent phones. Plus I have a few saved Nova customizations, and you dont get the option to have other configurations on One UI the way you do with Nova..

The N10+ is totally different. Nova doesn't manage the app tray as well.
Pick theme (the basic high contrast ones work best)>pick icon pack>pick wallpaper then use the Goodlock family of apps and One handed Operation plus to modify it further.
Moded stock N10+

Question Need Recommendation for Home Launcher

Hi All,
I've been using Nova Launcher for years on every Android phone I had (didn't update it to ver 7). Now with S22 Ultra version 6 is baggy so I tried Nova 7, but I can't stand it, It's very slow and stuttering the developer doesn't seem responsive. It's ruin the new beast experience.
Any recommendation for an alternative good launcher?

Using Nova here still as I couldnt find any alternative.
As for the stuttering, Go to developer settings and set all transition scaled to 0.5x
Then run the below commands (individually, one after the other) in a ADB Shell and restart the device.
settings put global window_animation_scale 0.10
settings put global transition_animation_scale 0.10
settings put global animator_duration_scale 0.10
I may get laughed at and mocked for posting this, but the Microsoft Launcher does everything I need. It is highly customizable, smooth as silk and full of features. It is one thing that large entity does right.

I tried it once.
It was unable to hide apps (The unnecessary unlocker apps for PowerAmp etc).
Also the grids cannot be customized like Nova does as shown below.
Then the gestures of Nova ... Many things were missing for me.

Google feed is a special page. and I just installed the latest beta of the launcher. All you can do is "remove" their feed, but you can't replace it with the Google feed.
So, eh. Can't replace oneuI or nova yet for me still.
Microsoft Launcher eats your battery more quickly than others..
Nova is best launcher.
Lawnchair 12 beta is also good basic launcher.
One UI is an excellent launcher.
You won't find anything that has the combination of speed, efficiency and customization it does.

There are some compromises. Many of One UI's features are better than Nova plus the Goodlock family of apps.
Try using Digi Clock with built in quad switches for opening apps. Goodlock One Handed Operation plus will also do that from anywhere on the side panels. I use both. All my frequently used apps are instantly available.
No problems with Nova 7 for me
I hate that we may be hijacking this thread through this launcher debate, but one of the things that I like about the Microsoft Launcher is that it allows me to backup all my settings and use the same on my tablet. Also, I love the expandable dock that allows three rows of icons. Does Nova or One UI offer those features?

Love Nova on the S22 Ultra - smooth as butter.
Been on Nova 7 since day one. No issues. Had a few issues on my fold using the big screen, but on the 22 Ultra it has been great.
suggest to try Action Launcher. highly customizable, google feed page, fully working widget stack resizable, quick and polished, low impact on battery.
