Question A53 October Patch - Samsung Galaxy A53 5G

Does the A53 october security Patch have bugs?

Only one way to truly find out lol. Im very hesitant to install the A53 October security patch. Been searching forums for bugs information too.

I took the plunge and installed a53 October security patch on my Taiwan edition using tmobile service. Phone calls work on 5g or 4g. Thank goodness. Text messages too. I know their is more stuff to wonder about. those 2 for me are the most important functions for my usage.

I didn't find any bugs

How to locate and install this patch? I am in the USA and the last update is from September.

Just wait patiently for the october patch
Cause there are no differences

No bugs

Guess it doesn't have a barometric pressure sensor

Thanks for reply, i was asking because on gsmarena specs it says it has a barometer sensor, so i thought i have defective device, ok nevermind. on bluetooth side i have only problem not recognizing obdeleven device in app to connect, i can see it in bluetooth settings, other devices connect properly, but all working fine on my old galaxy a8(2018) with same app version, am not sure but i think it worked before october patch..

Hey,
is it possible to get some dongle work with webos?
The touchpad has GPS. Just need a program that doesn't need internet to load the maps.

I believe you are mistaken, and the wifi version has no GPS.
I have a bluetooth GPS receiver that I used with my Viewsonic g tablet but that required an "blueGPS" app to get it to work. I imagine with Touchpad may also require a third app to get it to work. An app that is likely not available for the Touchpad.
Are their any app for the Touchpad that can use a GPS?
There are apps in the hp-market. But i can't make out if they
all are real gps or if they need wlan/inet too.
Most of them also cost money.
I think i also read somewhere about using extern gps with that app
called usbpassthrough. But that app looks like some handy app, because
it didn't start in fullmode.
Ah, my apologies, my information was based off of a chart I googled last Saturday after purchase. It did not differentiate between the wifi and 3g/4g versions. I guess I can cross searching for a new GPS app off my to do list...

LOL... yeah, no need for a GPS app.
I wonder if there is a way to get my bluetooth GPS receiver to work with the Touchpad. I got a confirmation e-mail about 3 or 4 days later from HP.com but it hasn't shipped so I'm not certain I will actually get one.
Anyone got some info on this, with GPS this table would be such a great product.

Install Preware and get Navit. The app works fine in fullscreen and either orientation. Just let us know if you manage to get your dongle working.
I've got a Bluetooth dongle but the touchpad couldn't find it... I tried selecting OTHERS but nothing...wondering why...
EDIT: I found that we cannot any other device other than webOS, I suspect it's all about the stack, hopefully some developer out there can hack it.

Reading that ^ I tried an old cheapie chinese BT GPS receiver I have lying around, it found and connected in a couple of seconds. Now we just need some GPS software to make the right calls to it!
To both of you who've successfully paired your GPS dongles, does GPS show up as an available location service?
If not, it shouldn't be particularly difficult to make a patch.

no, iam not able to do anything with it. There is a Navit, but i haven't try it yet.
No you can't do anything with it, none of the existing gps apps work because they are looking for an internal gps module, they don't look to bluetooth for it. What we would need is an app that works via the bluetooth stack? the way the old Palm Tx etc did.

Bluetooth issues

Do you think Samsung will fix Bluetooth at some point- or shell I refund this phone? It's not connecting to 50% cars currently available on the street.
mine works in every car i own perfect
I, like many people, I would imagine, only own one car, but it works perfectly with mine both on it's own and in use with Android Auto.
no issues here at all with that.
not working with BMW 2007 and 2010
No issues with BT at all.
Working fine for me as well.
I would be looking at the cars, not the phone. The BT in this phone is top notch.
This is second S8+. And the question is do Samsung fix it? There is whole Internet posts about non working Bluetooth on S8+ so no car problem.

That does not mean it works with every car and as I said there is a lot of proved cases that is not that great. And just to add I've had no problems with S3, S4, S5 and S7Edge, and this post is not competition that it is working or not because obviously it's not for me. I was hoping someone already got some info from Samsung about it.

What I'm saying is, it's not the PHONES fault. It would be the fault of your car/radio. If it was the phones fault it wouldn't work on anything. Just because your car uses old technology, or bad technology, doesn't mean it's the phones fault.
But I'm saying and provided a link, there are other thousands people with the same problem, so you still think it is just my car(s) problem? And phone is ok? And also no problems with previous galaxys?

Search for any phone in existance and you'll find a thousand people complaining about Bluetooth for said phone without them doing any real troubleshooting to try to narrow down possible factors. Sadly, its usually down to user error, an app or setting that's been altered unknowingly by the user or the fault of the device they're trying to connect to.
I don't believe there to be a widespread problem with the s8 at this point. If I see more evidence in the future I'm happy to concede and admit that there may be a problem but right now this is just the same rehashed complaint that you get with every device these days.

Can you connect to anything via bluetooth? If you can, it's not your phone. Pretty simple answer and how to get it. If you can't connect to ONE device, they might not be compatible, that's part of technology always changing. What kind of vehicle bluetooth are you trying to connect to? Exact make and model, of either the car with built in bluetooth, or the device if it's aftermarket.

Bluetooth Loosing Name/Passcode

Hi all,
I've been searching for answers to this issue to no avail so far!
The Bluetooth works flawlessly when it works but after the unit has been off for a few hours and comes back out of sleep or even after a full shutdown, the Bluetooth stops working and looses both its name and passcode
Sometimes takes up to 3 full reboots to get it back
It's got an sd-968 in a px3 unit running Malaysk ROM also with the most recent MCU
It did the same on stock ROM too
Thanks!

Ahh that would make sense! Strange I thought this would conflict with the on-board bluetooth
AFAIK there is no USB bluetooth module that works with our units...if technical support is going to send you a replacement it will be a full coreboard replacement.

The same situation with my PX5 Dasaita - very rare, but some times bluetooth looses name and password. Can t find what is the cause...
Regards
I have a KBT unit and the same has been happening to me too. Initially the name was "EONON" (the reseller) and passcode something starting with 5. For no apparent reason the name would change to "CAR-KIT" and passcose 1234. The same happened after I upgraded the SoC from a PX3 to a PX5, updating the MCU and firmware (multiple times for reasons unleated to this). After the upgrade it would go back to "EONON" and at some point it would change to "CAR-KIT" again.

Pretty much the exact situation but with a slightly different name! Upgraded MCU which didn't help at all. They sent me a new stock ROM to flash which also didn't help so thought I'd try Malaysk's, again no help. I'm wondering if it is a hardware issue or software..

Hello, i have the same problem with the same bt chip.
SD-968 on Eonon navigation. Last summer it was working ok if i remember correctly when i was on stock rom, but then i changed to malasyk and hal9k, and i have problems.
I checked the factory settings and i have SD-968 option on BT. I even dissasembled the navigation to physically check if i have SD-968 and its there!
If i put the navi to autosleep, almost never wakes up with BT available. Always no name and no password with no luck of writing them back. The only solution is to reset the navi once, maybe twice.
I tried to put it on auto off after 30mins, so it will do a full bootup, and maybe 5 times out of 10, it works.
Maybe is has something to do with the cold? i tried the navi on my table in the house and it was a perfect 10/10 at bootup.

GPS and call quality still an issue?

I understand call quality has just been updated but both this and GPS seem to be a recurring concern on the official asus forums.
I've read many posts of calls being quiet but fuzzy and how GPS is grossly inaccurate.
I'm wondering whether people are still struggling with both or just a few isolated cases. Anyone have any experience they'd be happy to share?

I can't confirm any call issues.
For the GPS, maybe that has to do with the European GPS system issues of July 2019 (see this https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galileo_(satellite_navigation) )?

Me too, because I didn't observe any GPS problems in my usage prior this update nor after it. It should be checked by those who routinely compare the GPS route data to the map data.

This where I found out about the GPS issue but no official response there.
Lots of threads, even with the update, that the ear piece is still not producing the sound that many find acceptable

Impromptu update?

10.0.0 (QP1A.190711.020.C3, Sep 2019)
Seems like it was posted today..
Anyone flash it or know what it's for?

Perhaps a fix for sensor issue?
I'd flash and see but ugh.. I have my phone set up perfectly including Google Pay.. May still do it, I'm sick like that!
i know right i didn't wanna flash it since we are a week away from the October build but will there even be an october build now?

Pretty sure there will be. The C3 indicates it's a hotfix release so that shouldn't impact the normal schedule.
So....did anyone flash it yet? Lol
Got it via OTA toda, 1335 MB on C3.
haven't seen anything different, lol.
Can confirm that this build has fixed the swipe up issue for unlocking not working properly - but still suffering from the screen goes blank when on a call (to ear) and then does not turn on again when viewed unless various buttons pressed!.

I was chatting with the Pixel team yesterday about something unrelated and was trying to get any info about the C3 update. Instead, I got very evasive runaround about how there is no approved communication. He didn't act like he didn't know what I was talking about but just wanted to change the subject since he wasn't going to say what the "hotfix" was for. I guess this their new strategy after still not disclosing the difference between .19 and .20.

Yeah, they used to be very up front with what the differences are in the builds. Usually they were carrier specific. If I had to guess, this new update fixed some huge security issue that they needed to fix ASAP before the bad guys could take over our phones.

Just take the OTA like good "sheeple." Don't worry about when it will get there, and of course you'd never need to root and block all of those glorious ads.
I flashes this new release yesterday and I may say it is big...I'm still going deep into what's new but haven't found anything relevant yet.

Is that the issue of swiping, or the proximity sensor info not causing the screen to reactive during a call?

Proximity.. I wish that while on a call, no other involuntary touch action could activated... Until hanging up or pressing a deliberate action.
Apparently a hotfix for the sensor bug went out 5.5MB for other pixels... (see the stickied sensor bug thread) Makes you wonder if someone made an oopsie in our case?
I noticed my phone a little bit colder after this update.
It's a pretty big update! It's the same size as the official Android 10 image. Weird.
Any of the 10 features that we haven't gotten yet in there? Like the customization app or whatever? New AOD clocks? I can't remember what all else we were supposed to get. I don't have time today to check it myself.
