I have perfectly rooted my a53 5g using magisk v25.2 running on Android 12.0 , ONE UI 4.1.
Tried
Code:
mount -o remount,rw /
'/dev/block/dm-0' is read-only
File system type is f2fs
Issue -- Cannot remove bloatware/system apps even if I have rooted phone.
Please help me how to mount system partition as read write
Also cannot disable dm-verity I tried flashing zip but after formatting data stuck in bootloop.

I was trying to enable writing titanium backups to the SDCard by editing the file:
/system/etc/permissions/platform.xml
However I was not paying attention and now everytime I boot up I get spammed with error messages "Unfortunatley, the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped". All apps also produce a force close saying about the same thing. Continuously. I can recieve calls and open up a couple of apps but only by the small window between closing error messages. Here are the steps I took when editing the platform.xml
First I edited the file as suggested:
Original:
Add the media_rw group:
Then I copied the file back to the SDCard. After that I overwrote it in /system/etc/permissions. Not realizing the permissions were incorrect. I restarted the device and started getting errors. I assumed it was the file permissions so I started up ADB and entered the following lines:
mount | grep system
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system /system
chmod 326 /system/etc
chmod 644 /system/etc/permissions/platform.xml
chmod 644 /system/etc
mount -o ro,remount /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system /system
That changed the file permissions so I rebooted by my device and got stuck in a boot loop.
So I rebooted into Clockworkmod recovery and tried to restore a working backup of my stock ROM. Got past the boot loop but still spammed by errors, so I tried to restore just the /system partition from the recovery using Clockwork's advanced tab. Seems like the errors are even worse. I wanted to know if by my description someone could give me a push in the right direction. Does anyone know what permissions the /system/etc folder is supposed to have? I suspect the reason this is happening is because I changed the /system/etc permissions instead of just changing /system/etc/permissions. Please offer any knowledge you have. I've pretty much exhausted the first few pages of Google and I don't want to give up and factory reset just yet.
Thank you
Hi,
I need to know your device and exact model to point you in the right direction for help.
I have a Samsung S4 with Tmobile. SGH-M919 version 4.4.4.4, I'm running stock ROM with Clockworkmod recovery. Just an update I can use ADB reliably in Clockwork's recovery mode. Though I'm not familiar with the file structure now that /system isn't mounted and everything seems to be in a different place. After the previous post I tried to mount /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system by using:
mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/platform/msm_sdcc.1/by-name/system
but the ADB session was disconnected in the middle and on reboot I'm now with no touch ability to close the error messages. I tried wiping the Dalvik Cache and the other Cache. Now I'm just browsing in Recovery through ADB looking for answers.
Then here is the best place to ask for help,

Good luck!
Thank you. Thread closed.
I have a Sony xperia M2 D2303 with kitkat 4.4.4 and compilation number 18.3.1.C.1.17.
I have successfully rooted it using KingRoot v4.9.5.
Also I have checked that system is rooted using tools such as root checker and it says rooted.
Now, I am trying to remount /system partition as RW but without succcess.
I have googled and tried several solutions posted here but nothing works for me.
Access to /sys/kernel/security/sony_ric and try to disable sony ric security using:
problem here is that sony_ric folder is empty, I mean, there is no "enable" file and I cannot create it as partition is RO (read-only).
Using ES file explorer or other file explorers as root I have tried to remount partition as RW but it fails.
Code:
echo 0 > enable
Using ROM Toolbox pro, and then from terminal emulator I have tried some commands:
Code:
su
mount -o remount,rw /system
fails.
Code:
su
system/bin/mount -o remount,rw /system
also fails.
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
also fails...
I have tried to install busybox but it fails as well.
I have tried the method explained here but when executing the command:
sh /sdcard/mrw/root.sh
some errors appear as script tries to do things in /system so since it is read-only (not rw) it fails.
Also I have tried the method using SuperSu-me explained here but without success. It completes ok but then SuperSu is executed automatically. SuperSu says to update binaries so I update binaries, then another screen comes saying that another root app was detected, so I press the button to uninstall it and continue installing SuperSu. SuperSu says "Installing ........" and then it crashes, that is, it appears a screen with two buttons, "How to update" and "Reboot". Kingroot, purify apps continued installed and working, and I cannot replace them with SuperSu.
So at this point I have no idea what to do...
My conclusion is that all these tools need to make changes to / and /system but since I have these two partitions set to read-only (cannot make them rw) then all these tools fail. So I think the main cause is that I have / and /system readonly.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
Please, help!
I am trying to modify /vendor/etc/audio_policy_configuration.xml for some personal tests. I am rooted with Magisk v14.4 and have Snoke R11 kernel.
I have tried:
FX App (with root module) and mounting various folders RW
Root Browser app
"mount -o rw,remount /system" in ADB then modifying the file with an app on the phone
ADB push the file in TWRP with system mounted (adb pull the file after shows my modifications)
But, every time I reboot to the OS, the file has reverted and my changes are not present. I can successfully modify the build.prop however...and if I reboot to the bootloader after pushing the new file with TWRP, then boot into TWRP and pull the file, I can still see the changes. But the changes get wiped on boot of the OS.
I have a similar problem (I want to update the hosts file that is located in the /vendor/etc partition).
I don't know why you mount the /system partition in RW while you need to access the /vendor partition...
The whole point of Magisk is that you can do these things without modifying your /system/ or /vendor/ partitions, just create a Magisk Module with your modifications.

Hello everyone,
I just did a clean update on my OP6 (A6003) by using MsmDownloadTool to completely reinstall everthing then I updated manually to OxygenOS 10.3.4. After the update I unlocked my bootloader and flashed TWRP, Magisk and installed BusyBox when the phone turned on. Everything is still working but when I installed Root Explorer to delete all useless Google system apps I wasn't able to delete anything. The system folder isn't mounted as RW and I tried with to switch to RW without success. I tried with a terminal to : (mount -o rw,remount /system) but still nothing, it shows me this (screenshot.png).
I suspect that the latest Security update (1st of May) has something to do with this but that's just my hypothesis.
I finally noticed that my boot time went up like from 15sec to more than a minute and I don't have any explanation for this.
Thanks you.

OxygenOS 10.3.4 is Android 10, which means it has SAR (system as root). so try mount -o remount,rw /

I can now delete folders from /system/apps and /system/priv-apps but I can't delete folders from /system/product/apps or priv-apps or /system/vendor/apps or priv-apps which still are in RO.
Thanks for the first solution.
Here is the solution to your problem my friends. Enjoy!
Works like a charm in Android 10 and later. Now my system, vendor and product partitions are read-write!
Use at your own risk!

Hello, I have a Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro rooted with magisk and some mods installed.
I wondering if is it possible to mount permanently (with the "fstab" under android) a samba hare in the /storage as a external sd_card and use it as a r/w point.
I've tried to use
Code:
su -c mount -t cifs //<my_adress> /storage/test
in termux but mount doesn't recognize address location.
I probably need to change my command line or install some sambaclient/cifs mod.
Do anyone know how to do this ?
Thanks
