So I'm guessing this is an android 12 problem seeing as this started happening after installing android 12 a while back. Though I could still connect to wifi it was unstable, now it just won't connect to anything.
Restarting the phone doesnt help and resetting the wifi/bluetooth settings does nothing either.
I also only see 5ghz networks and they disappear and reappear randomly even if the signal strength is really good and I'm in close proximity to the wifi network.
I'm also out of mobile data which is the only way for me to get a working internet connection on the phone currently so I can't back anything up and try to reinstall the phone )))))))
Gotta love android 12 and how your phone can just be rendered useless without warning

I keep getting data drops where it will drop mobile data completely and wont keep a connection with wifi. It still says its connected with wifi but it wont transfer any data, with mobile data it wont even show a data connection on the status bar.
I hear this is a common bug that a lot of people have, I get a good connection on stock 2.3.3 so I am currently stuck. I was running 1.9.9 MIUI and have this issue on anything else I try.
I loaded a stock build.prop w/ MIUI and it killed my cell network connection, no connection at all and it froze on reading SIM, but my wifi connection would not drop, and was flawless. Is it possible it is a setting in the build.prop that is being added or overlooked in roms?
I am having this same problem.
I recently purchased a G2x and installed the latest stable CM7 right off the bat, and started experiencing random drops to the EDGE network. This and a dead zone in the center of my house led me to believe my phone had a reception issue.
I have flashed back to the stock rom and my dead zone is gone, completely, and the data drops stopped.
Google searching hasn't led me to any answers and my next stop will be the CM forums.
So, before rooting, my One X had great Wifi connection. No issues. Now that I'm rooted, I can't connect to wifi to save my life. I tried the wifi fix (not the ROM, but the 3 files instead) and still nothing.
I've tried turning off Mobile Network while wifi was on, turning mobile network on while wifi was on, tried restarting the wifi....
I cannot get a connection to the Store, browsers won't open webpages, it's essentially done for. Yet every other device in my house can access the router just fine (and it's not just here, it's elsewhere.)
Anyone have any ideas how to fix this short of flashing the new ROM (which I can't do from my house since the HTC drivers always fail to install.)
Have you tried running fix permissions to see if there's some sort of error holding things up? The only other thing I could think to do is to do a factory restore of the phone, unfortunately...
Hey guys,
I'm having some issues with my Wi-Fi connectivity on my N5 and it's freaking me out! :crying:
When I'm trying to connect to my home network, the Wi-Fi icon is getting orange after some random time.
Some times it gets back to white, some times it's not.
I know its a known issue but nothing seems to fix it.
I tried everything - reboot my phone, reboot my router, reboot into safe mode, forget the network and connect again, toggle into airplane mode and back, change Wi-Fi settings to connect only to 2.4 GHz, avoid poor connections, update my router firmware.
NOTHING worked!
The only thing I haven't tried yet is factory reset but I read some people saying it didn't help them either.
Only turning Wi-Fi off and than on again makes it "white" again for some other random time.
I'm running stock everything on a rooted device with Android 4.4.4 build KTU84P.
My Wi-Fi is working great with other devices in the network including a Nexus 7 2012 and some laptops.
And it seems that my Nexus 5 is connecting fine to other Wi-Fi networks.
It worked fine in the past and I think it all went wrong when I replaced my Modem.
Any ideas what else can I try?
Do you think maybe the Lollipop update will fix this annoying issue?
Thanks!
Forgot to mention (I guess it is obvious) - I can't connect to any website or run any network connected app when I'm "orange" (I know it means I'm not connected to google services).
Tried also to change my Wi-Fi channel. still not working.
Doesn't anyone have an idea what is wrong here?
This is really frustrating ... :crying:
Well, I'm kind of talking to myself here, but in case someone else is facing this annoying issue, here is what fixed it for me eventually:
Configure a static IP to my phone in the router configurations ! :victory:
Before that, I also tried to disable Wi-Fi optimization in the phone Wi-Fi settings, buy it didn't seem to help.
The phone constantly resets when trying to connect to unknown networks that require a password. It took me ages to figure out what was causing it and it's a real pain. You could just be walking down the street and it'll try to connect to a WiFi network that will kick off this constant resetting. You have about a second to turn WiFi off, before the process starts again.
Anyone have any ideas on a fix? I mention EE as they have their own software variant that enables WiFi calling in the UK, not sure if that's relevant?
Whilst I mention WiFi calling, that's pretty rubbish too, constant interference on my end only - didn't get it with iPhone 6?
Thanks in advance....
Flash with stock 5.1.1 ROM via odin.
Just about the phone and went straight into update while setting up. Everything downloaded fine, update apps etc. Seemed to be doing more updates in the background. Had a few random power offs that I had to plug it in for and would show 0% at 1% I would turn on and it would go back to 100% instantly. A few touch screen issues that seem to have gotten slightly better
Now my big problem I use my phone strictly on wifi but now all wifi connections are showing up as 'limited connection' the issues is the phone not the wifi. I have it on every wifi I've tried and my laptop has no issues with them. I'm trying to avoid a factory reset just to end up with the same issue
Thanks
You've tried all the basic stuff right?
