Assistant voice typing - Google Pixel 4a Questions & Answers

Is there any way to have the assistant voice typing advanced speech recognition to be installed on Pixel 4A?. I know that if this ever happens, it will be somehow slower than the experience on pixel 6 series because of the tensor chipset but I'll be fine with that for the time being since I'm not ready for any upgrade at the moment. Thanks in advance

Google Assistant and Android Auto

What's the opinion on how Google Assistant will work with Android Auto?
Will you be able to interact with the assistant through the car's microphone and speakers?
At the moment AA defaults to Google Now.
What you can do with AA seems to be a subset of what you can do with the phone. I don't expect that to change... but will let you know by the end of the month.
I'll also know by the end of the month, so snap I love AA but am constantly frustrated by its "not sure how to........" replies when I'm pretty sure google now on my phone would provide a meaningful answer.
I would be really happy if GA worked properly in the car.

Using Google Voice Match to unlock the phone?

I am trying to unlock / wake up the phone using google Voice Match. I can set it up in the setting but the phone will never wake up when I say "OK google".
Is there any way to get this working?
Using the latest stable MIUI global ROM (9.5.20. 0)
Thanks!
Unlocking your phone with Google Voice Match and waking your phone with Google Voice Match are two very different things. The latter doesn't work on many non-Google phones. For it to work the hardware needs a dedicated chip or sensor that can listen for voice commands while the rest of the phone is asleep. Without the right hardware a phone that is actually asleep can't be woken with voice commands.
That's correct, but it works on this phone using the Chinese ROM, so the hardware supports it.
MIUI offers the setting even in the Global ROM. It's just not working.
The setting on the Global ROM is the generic Google Smartlock setting for unlocking the phone with your voice. There is no setting specific to waking this phone with your voice. I have also never read anyplace that you can wake the sleeping Mix 2S using OK Google on the Global or Chinese ROM. I don't see why the feature would be included in the Chinese ROM at all since the Chinese ROM includes Xiaomi's own AI Assistant that has no English support.
It works with the Chinese ROM and miui's own assistant xiao Ai. The sd845 has the hardware to provide voice wakeup l, but it's not being utilized by Google assistant on miui. I wish some miui dev would take this problem and allow Google assistant to utilize the hardware.
Unfortunately MIUI doesn't integrate Google stuff well even on the Global ROM. The Google Trust Agent is enabled on the phone but there is no front end in MIUI to access the Google Smart Lock Options. If the Mix 2S does have the hardware necessary for Google Assistant to wake the phone when asleep maybe it will be set up to work with GA in a future update. The Global ROM for the 2S was released days before development stopped on MIUI 9 so the Chinese ROM had a lot more development. There was never even a weekly developer build for the Global ROM since it was released so late but there were weekly developer builds of the Chinese ROM. Hopefully the feature will be added but I don't think we're a priority for Xiaomi in terms of development resources.

Ok Google Not Working After v11.19.17.21 ?

I noticed recently that "Ok Google" voice activation of the Assistant was no longer working. It took me a long time to notice because I only use this feature when driving longer distances, something I haven't been doing much during the pandemic.
With the newer versions if I say "Ok Google" or "Hey Google" there is no response. If I manually launch the Assistant ie long press on Home button it comes up and I can press the microphone and it works. If I try to retrain the voice model it tells me it's having issues connecting, and I cannot get past this message. It's clearly not a connectivity issue because I can use other Google apps and surf the web just fine.
I was curious when this had stopped working so I did some testing:
10.97.8.21 original version that came with the OS update, working
11.19.12.21 working
11.19.17.21 working
11.21.9.21 not working
11.27.6.21 not working
11.30.12.21 not working
11.39.7.23 not working
11.43.8.23 not working
12.2.11.23 not working
12.6.8.23 not working
12.10.7.23 not working
Obviously I didn't test every single version available but it seems that it broke between 11.19.x.x and 11.21.x.x. I was not able to find a good 11.20.x.x to download and test, so I can't rule that version out.
For now I've reverted to 11.19.17.21 but I'm concerned about security running that old of a version.
Any idea what might have changed in between those two versions to make this stop working?
Anyone else have similar experiences?

Voice typing not working most of the time

I have a unlocked N20 Ultra, on T-mobile.
My voice typing (dictation) doesn't work most of the time - and requires a reboot to work again. Specifically, when I press the "mic" icon/button to activate Voice Dictation on-demand. It doesn't matter which keyboard I use (Gboard, Samsung keyboard).
I forgot exactly when this started happening, but it's at least been 2 months. I was hoping that the update to One UI 3.1 would fix it, but no dice.
Has anyone else experienced this, or any idea about this?

Voice input not working on Gboard

Hi all, I use a lot of voice dictation as input methods on my smartphones. The best one was the Pixel 7 Pro, but thi is another story. Now I have a Galaxy S23 and since May I've been facing a very strange issue with Gboard when "typing" text using my voice as an input.
First of all, I have to say what IS working fine
- Google voice "keyboard" as a standalone input method (which you can choose from the list of keyboards) works like a charm
- Also, If I set Google as default voice input method and use Samsung keyboard, things work fine: when I click on the microphone in the Samsung Keyboard, the system invokes the Google voice "keyboard" and everything works fine.
What is NOT working fine is Gboard and its embedded voice dictation. When I click on the mic, it starts listening but sometimes it types in what I'm sayng and some other times it keeps listening without typing anything.
I have already made a number of attempts under different contitions: good or bad Internet connection, wifi on & off, BT headphones or smartphone as input device, uninstall & reinstall the app, clear cache and data... Really I have no idea why this happens. Sometimes it works for a sentence and doesnt' work for the following one... Do you guys have any suggestions?
