Might be,but before to be sure please try flashing stock Cos13.1x through fastboot.
probably both but software may fix it. Try SultanCM, he rewrote the drivers of the TouchScreen. It worked for me long ago, i cannot live without it anymore
I have the same problem.
For me, the problem appeared after I flash XOSP 7.2 rom, I reported the problem in the thread but have not had response yet.
I'm a little busy now but as soon as I got something I'm going back here to tell you.
Anyone try this? For me it fixed the touch bug and also seems to have fixed the latency!

Edited: reports of bootloop issues on stock rom, will want to avoid it unless on a custom one

It effects all android roms based off of android 8.1
It is an 8.1 bug and not a bug related to any specific device

Do not install if on stock. You will bootloop.

How do I test this is working? Honestly LOS 15.1 on Essential Phone has been so smooth for me I can't tell the difference. What metrics did you use to test touch latency has improved?

I've been facing touchscreen on my Whyred and found other users facing that too, so after searching some forums, I found this Magisk module and flashed it. Now the touchscreen issue is completely gone and everything is working fine.
So I'm just sharing it here to help others, I'm not the owner of this Module.

what was the problem exactly?
Flashed this module and got bootloop/stuck at bootlogo.
This problem present on Pre-May security patch. Google fixed this from May security patch!

I would not search forums for hours if I really wanted to update to latest MIUI, I don't want to join the Anti Roll Back Squad. Btw you could have simply uninstalled to module instead of uninstalling the whole Magisk.
What about Touch Panel FW? Mine is on 0x16 and there seems to be some issues. Supposedly Miui10 fw updates TP fw to 0x22, does it make any difference?

where did you check the touch panel fw?
What touchscreen problem does this fix?
I'm on LineageOS and my touchscreen randomly stops responding until I lock and unlock the phone. I haven't see anyone else complain about this problem though. Will this module help?

I faced this issue many times when playing pubg.
i can,t control the charachter , The touch is like fully gone
and in a second its will work fine.But this error ruins my gaming experience.
so i want to know that is this module work fine without any bootloop in miui 10 stable version.

That's exactly the issue I'm talking about but I'm not sure if it will work on miui 10 or not as I used it in resurrection remix rom and its working fine.
ZTE Blade 20 Smart, Android 9, v7.1 Russia stock firmware here. I think it works, no bootloop, no hangs. Thank you!
EDIT: I think it worked for some time, but then stopped.

Did you use SOD killer?
It usually works, but causes excessive battery consumption.
There's no way to fix that I think. I've tried many AOSP based roms but no success, there's always screen delay in each and every rom sadly. Post here if you find a rom without that issue

lineage 18.1 unnofiial does not have this issue.

Flash GSI's. They dont come with on screen delay. Suppose you want Havoc 9.0 for G610F but it comes with screen wake up delay. Flash the Havoc 9.0 GSI and the problem won't be there. All same features,only difference is its a GSI and the flashing process will be different.

Coz i can't switxh roms again and again it's very time conauming and i don't wanna waste much time on other things.

I double that. Gotta sort it out at last. I have two SM-A127F/DSN phones: the first made in India and the second made in Vietnam, the first one has no lock-screen problem at all, works like a charm with LineageOS, the second one has the problem. But both have no problem whatsoever when using any of the stock firmware.

I have just looked around. The kernel isn't for a127f, it won't work at all. If there's anything new about it, I'll let you know.

If you are on A125F, warhamer will fix the TOUCH ISSUE ON GSIs, if you are on A127F flash physwizz kernel.
After flashing the Warhammer kernel on my SM-A125F...the touch screen issue is fixed but I start getting random reboots after every 4-5 minutes
