Is there an app for Android that works like the Outlook on the PC, that allows user having a POP mail account, to keep his Inbox and other folders containing the relevant messages in the Smartphone’s memory, for offline consultation, responses, etc, without need to retrieve them from Google/Yahoo or other Web service provider each time he needs to use them?
When you use the default e-mail app, you should be able to use mail offline. The app has an option the check for e-mail manually. I use it with my microsoft exchange account at work.
Search for a mailprover which support IMAP. Your mail stays at the webserver, but you can view it offline in you mail app.
what email app is widely used as a replacement for the standard one from Android ?

ehm gmail app is only for gmail I guess I wonder what more general-use email app many ppl use (and like). It needs to connect to my own email server (POP3) etc.

Besides the native e-mail clients pre-installed on my phones/tablets and K9 this is the only mail app I ever used.
IMO the best.
Every other app I tried had a few flaws I didn´t like.
Kaiten is my choice.

Only con's : interface is not still adapted for ICS (no dual pane like gmail)
Kaiten is in fact the best, has all the good features, but there's no free version.
K9-mail isn't tablet adapted, made for vertical view, doesn't have dual panel view (most efective on tablets).
Other option is MailDroid, it's free, has all the goodies including dual panel viewing.

Check the options and help in the gmail web interface. I have it fetching mail from 2 accounts and sending using their SMTPs. Not synced with the accounts though, so mail not removed there, nor sent mail stored except in gmail.
You may want to look into Moxier for Tablets and there is one other that has a tablet-specific version of all apps (Email, tasks, calendar, etc)... They are not free, but have free demos available (2 week fully functional demos) - I always end up back with the stock apps for one reason or another though... But, if you need to sync tasks, etc with Outlook, they are a nice option since there is no tasks app in Android by default....

newton is really the best email app aver, it's very simple, great design, lightweight, and free. You can subscribe to a premium features, but even without them the app is just amazing. It's used to be called cloudmagic.

Read it. My favorite (Alto) is not secure!
K9 mail is not good enough. Aqua mail is limited to 2 accounts in free version. Mail Droid contains ads. What's left is [email protected] mail which is new to my ear. Tried it and [email protected] mail seems fantastic. A lot of features and customization. And secure too.
I'll use it side by side with Alto for next few days before I decide which one is better.

It's a good mail app but now it forces pay premium to use, unless it is not load new emails! 50$ for 1 year, too expensive to use with premium feature. I must uninstall it after 2 year using. It's a stupid Newton Mail development team.

I always prefer Gmail and recommend to others. It is free and very easy to use. One of the best things is to login to multiple accounts on a single browser at a time.

Apart from that, you can also use NoxApp+, which can not only run multiple accounts for emails but also for many other apps like whatsapp. facebook, or even games, without even switching or quitting!!

In some europ. countries using g-mail is not permitted without written permission of your partners: E-mail addresses and the mails itself are sensitive personal data and must not be stored on servers outside the EU without permissions of all who it may concern...

Now there are advertisements even in pro key versions. Not ad-free anymore... See comments in play store.
FairEmail as an alternative has an more honest developer.

Last version of AquaMail without popup advertisements, when opening an attachment, see below. To use only with legal pro key of AquaMail.
This apk is signed with ZipSigner, so there won't be a request to update anymore.
Although many users complain, the Aquamail company does not want to remove this advertisement mentioned above from the paid and ad-free called version of Aquamail.
It is now installed from version 1.17 onwards.

I'm currently using Spike (formerly Hopmail) for my Gmail(s) and Swing Mail for my Outlook. Both have very good conversation UI and reliable push notifications. Swing Mail has another plus : it can handle Twitter DM with push notifications

I use spark. Nice interface and smart inbox feature.
Gmail has a well rounded ui, comes with the phone (is not uninstallable), and just works great, with different email hosts as well, so I just use that.
AquaMail is the best IMHO.
I use Samsung own email. I think it's fantastic. Very fast and perfectly integrated with Samsung calendar app. Far superior to Gmail IMHO. In fact it only works on Samsung devices and is one is the key reasons I stick with Samsung devices.
I use Microsoft outlook. It has email and calendar in one.

I used aqua on 3 phones and must say it is pretty darn good.
I use Gmail since it will automatically sync with all the Google accounts I logged in, and I don't want to install another app just to read my emails

gmail for my main account,
yandex for 2 of my business accounts,

I use Samsung email as they have been improving it over the years and I have never had any issues. Plus it comes pre-installed on Samsung phones.
Microsoft outlook. One of the main reasons I tend to stick with Samsung is the amazing synching and overall integration between my outlook contacts and calander with the Samsung native calander and its own phone/ contact list. Same for e-mail.
One thing I always wish for is S-pen integration with outlook calander. Anything I write in the Samsung calander never synchs and therefore doesn't show on outlook calandar. I'm not sure if this is something lacking from Samsung's end or microsoft's. Either way I really hope it'll be implemented soon.
