Themes / Apps / Mods [MIX Fold 2][MAGISK] Global ROM-ify module collection [Add translations, Google Assistant, Android Auto] - Xiaomi Mix Fold 2

I decided to create a module sharing thread here.
If Magisk is enabled, all modules will continue to work after the OTA update. (use "Install to Inactive Slot" method)
If Magisk is disabled, the module also loses its effectiveness.
Add official translations from Global ROMSince MIUI China ROM doesn't have translations other than English or China-related languages, I created Magisk module to add more languages.
I extracted official translations from MIUI Global ROM.
If there's no official translations, it will be showed in English (like search bar and some options only for China ROM).
This module also enables Google Location History & Nearby Share.
[MAGISK] Add languages to MIUI CN - Enables Google Location History & Nearby Share
I want to use the original MIUI Chinese version as it is, so I created a Magisk module to add the languages! The translation is extracted from MIUI Global ROM for Xiaomi 11T Pro. This module also enables Google Location History & Nearby Share...

Global ROM Flag Patch
This Magisk module changes ROM flag to Global.
You can't change region, but some settings and VoLTE icons will become Global version.
Please note Global version has less features than China version, so you can't see some settings like enhanced keyboard.
This module doesn't contain translations and patch for Android Auto or location history.
You can install both translation patch and flag patch.
Please note this module can cause bootloops!

--- If you want to use flag patch with MIUI optimization turned off (optional) ---
Please note if you disabled MIUI optimization, you'll get duplicate Package Installer (MIUI and AOSP) and it will cause bootloop.
Please don't disable MIUI optimization before installing this module, and disable one of the Package Installer to prevent bootloop.
So for installing flag patch module, you need to do:
1. Install above translation patch and reboot
2. Enable MIUI optimization and reboot
3. Install lite module and reboot
4. Disable MIUI optimization
5. Two "Package Installer" app will be available so disable one of them (I recommend non-Xiaomi logo one)
6. Reboot
-------------
If bootloop happens, run this:
adb wait-for-device shell su -c "touch /data/adb/modules/xiaomi-miui-conv-lite/disable;reboot"
Enable Android Auto
Here's the guide for enabling Android Auto.
You have to uninstall Android Auto first, then install Magisk module, and set permissions in AOSP settings (use "MIUI Hidden Settings" or something)

what do we need to do to get OK GOOGLE working after we install the module? I installed the module, now can activate assistant and trained the voice assistant on the phone. it still does not respond to ok google if you say it though on my phone with the screen on or off.
I have battery restrictions on google and assistant turned off.
also, I think the links to the first two modules point to the same place above? I can't find the correct link for the first module

Thank you for creating the Google Assistant module. Prior to installing the module with Magisk I had installed Google Assistant, but I could only activate voice commands by tapping on its icon. Now that I have installed the module, when I say "Hey Google" or "OK Google" the green microphone icon appears at the top left of my status bar, so I know Google Assistant is 'listening', but when I give it voice commands it doesn't respond. If I tap on the icon and then speak it obeys voice commands, but I could do that before the module. I am rooted with Magisk and have only installed the universal saftey net module, your (full, not the lite CN - Global) module, and your Google Assistant module. I have given the Google app and the Google Assistant app all permissions and unrestricted battery, and have set Google Assistant as the Mix Fold 2's default digital assistant. Am I missing some steps to get Google Assistant to respond to my voice? (I have MIUI optiminzations turned off)

@knives of ice @frcraig
It looks like "magisk-module-miui-cn2global-lite" is needed to make it work as MIUI China has Xiaomi's assistant (I was checking assistant with lite module).
For the OK google in lock screen, it seems we need more work...
The assistant seems to hear the command but does not appear in the foreground.

@AndroPlus, thanks so much. I hope you can figure out how to get ok google working. almost there it seems. also, any chance we can get google smart lock working?
also, this is what confuses me on the 2 magisk modules you link
1.

2. "Lite"

when you download them they both have the same filenames as you can see above and when installed they appear as the same module in the magisk modules listing of installed modules. shouldn't there be 2 separate modules appearing when installed?

@knives of ice
hmm, something went wrong since I set different ID for the modules...
I reuploaded lite module with different file name:

So I went into Magisk manager and removed the full version module and installed the lite.zip, but when it prompted me to reboot I'm now stuck at the mi screen and my phone won't boot up.

You can enable both full and lite module.
As I wrote in OP, duplicated Package Manager causes bootloop when you use lite module and MIUI optimization off.
You can enter into safe mode by pressing volume down key to disable all modules, or
adb wait-for-device shell su -c "touch /data/adb/modules/xiaomi-miui-conv-lite/disable"
to disable lite module.
So for installing lite module, you need to do:
1. Enable MIUI optimization and reboot
2. Install lite module and reboot
3. Disable MIUI optimization
4. Two "Package Manager" app will be available so disable one of them (I recommend non-Xiaomi logo one)
5. Reboot

I can boot to fastboot, but can't use adb commands because Windows no longer sees my device. Can you explain how to enter safe mode to disable all modules?

I think you couldn't enter into safe mode, maybe you have to try changing the timing of pressing.
You can try booting into recovery and press safe mode option too.

Did you do it in unfolded state and right after you force-shutdown (not in mi logo screen)?
It's strange...

So I tried it in unfolded state and was able to get to the recover screen. However when I click "safe mode" the phone reboots to the mi logo and the bootloop continues. I must have done something wrong in replacing the full CN-Global module with the Lite version. Within Magisk manager I had "removed" the full version module, and it then had a rid line through it in the manager. I then installed and enabled the lite version at which time it prompted me to reboot. Perhpas next time I will reboot after revoving the full version and before I flash the light version.
End result is the same- I'm stuck in a bootloop.

been there, hope I never have to go back. at least you got to recovery with the folded screen. I don't know why your device isn't recognized in fastboot though. It would be horrible to have to wipe data but you might have to.

I let the battery drain completely (same effect as removing battery in older phones) and then plugged my phone in and immediately pressed power on plus volume up and was able to enter recovery mode. I had to wipe everything, but at least I'm still unlocked and rooted with magisk.

Thank you for renaming the 'lite' module. Having the full version and lite version use the same file name was confusing. When you have time would you be able to update the translation in the lite version to match that of the full version (MIUI 13.1), because several of the settings options that are needed on the Mix Fold 2 don't appear.

sucks to have to wipe data, but sometimes there is no choice. I still think it is insane that recovery only works in unfolded state. I can't believe i learned that an hour after paying $40 to get my phone to book with edl method cause I couldn't get into recovery but never tried it unfolded.

[UNOFFICIAL][11] LineageOS 18.1 w/ microG patch for Pixel 4a (sunfish) (20210610)

Introduction
This is my personal build of LineageOS 18.1 for Pixel 4a with the microG patches applied. If you do not want / need to use microG, it may be a better idea to use the official build available here: https://download.lineageos.org/sunfish. This build is exactly the same as the official build except for the microG patch.
For discussion about the official build, please use the other thread instead: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/rom-official-sunfish-lineageos-18-1.4255751/
Installation
Before installation, make sure your phone is updated to Android 11 firmware on both of the slots.
Whether you are installing the ROM for the first time or updating the ROM, please make sure you reboot to recovery again after `adb sideload`-ing the ROM before installing add-ons such as Magisk and GAPPS.
1. Download `boot-XXXX.img` (this contains the recovery needed for initial flashing)
2. Download `lineage-18.1-XXXX-UNOFFICIAL-petercxy-sunfish.zip`
3. Reboot your phone to fastboot mode
4. Run `fastboot flash boot boot-XXXX.img` from your PC
5. Reboot your phone into recovery mode (`fastboot reboot`, then press volume up immediately)
6. Erase data
7. Select Apply Update -> Apply Update from ADB
8. Run `adb sideload lineage-18.1-XXXX-UNOFFICIAL-petercxy-sunfish.zip` and wait for installation to finish
9. If you do not need to install any add-ons (e.g. Magisk or GAPPS), then just reboot into system
10. Otherwise, if you do need to install add-ons, reboot into recovery again (this puts your phone into the recovery of the newly-installed system), then install the add-ons using sideload. If you want to use GAPPS, they must be installed here before you boot into system for the first time (this doesn't apply to microG).
11. Enjoy
Updating
1. Download the newly released zip and reboot your phone into recovery
2. Select Apply Update -> Apply Update from ADB
3. Run `adb sideload lineage-18.1-XXXX-UNOFFICIAL-petercxy-sunfish.zip` and wait for installation to finish
4. If you did not have any add-ons installed before update (e.g. Magisk or GAPPS), then just reboot into system
5. Otherwise, if you did, you need to reboot into recovery again at this point before rebooting to system and re-flash every single one of the add-ons you had before. If you do not re-flash them before rebooting to the new system, the boot will fail and your phone will switch back to the old system automatically.
6. Reboot and enjoy.
Note: You don't need to update official firmware manually while LineageOS is installed by flashing latest official factory images. This LineageOS build now ships with latest official firmware updates which are tested to work with the ROM. Please avoid flashing the firmware manually while LineageOS is installed to avoid unnecessary issues.
Known Issues
- Use Magisk v21.4 or later if you want Magisk
- Some applications require microG to be installed in system partition to function, in which case you can consider using the Magisk microG module
- The eSIM manager only works with either GAPPS or microG installed. Without them, you can use eSIM, but you will not be able to add / remove / rename / disable your eSIM. The eSIM manager will also crash once or twice on first boot without GAPPS or microG, but after that it won't crash anymore (the system automatically disables it until you install microG or GMS)
- Disabling / Enabling eSIM may hang even with GAPPS or microG. However, rebooting normally fixes the issue and makes your action effective.
- I provide no guarantee for SafetyNet status or compatibility with any app that requires SafetyNet. Google has been tightening its SafetyNet verification and there is really not much we can do about it, and frankly most apps that require SafetyNet should not have done so in the first place. If you need SafetyNet, you are on your own.
Downloads
Note: This build has compatibility issues with MindTheGapps (just like the recent LineageOS weekly builds). It will be fixed in newer official weekly builds, but since this build is for microG users, I am not going to upload a new microG-patched build just to work around a GAPPS compatibility issue.
20210610: June 05 security update; sorry for the delay, LineageOS had some issues while merging this month's ASB.
This update also fixed some long-standing bugs, such as the initial crash dialog of the eSIM manager (when GAPPS or microG is not installed), and the extraneous battery percentage option in settings -> battery. Read the LineageOS changelog for the full update.

Yes you can, but that flash-all script only flashes it on one slot, so to guarantee you have A11 on both slots you'd still need to manually switch the slot and execute that script a second time. The reason why you need A11 on both slots is that the recovery installs the new ROM to the inactive slot, so if the inactive slot is not also on A11, the ROM will probably not boot properly.

10 hours so far and everything is smooth, great ROM, but I've noticed the battery consumption is less on SuperiorOS, need couple of days to confirm.

Considering call screen doesn't work on other Lineage pixel ROMs, this wouldn"t be any different.

Do you have Play Services on it? I assume they use the Biometric API for that feature. And I assume that requires Play Services. Or a locked bootloader, some Trust Zone thing... basically it probably isn't designed to work on a ROM that doesn't have some integrity check or secure thingy access.

I don't use play services, but biometric unlock like autofill I think doesn't rely on play services, its part of AOSP? Both my Tab S5e and previous pixel 4a builds were LOS17 with no google services or microg installed and I have Biometric support in all usual apps
jawz101 said:
Do you have Play Services on it? I assume they use the Biometric API for that feature. And I assume that requires Play Services. Or a locked bootloader, some Trust Zone thing... basically it probably isn't designed to work on a ROM that doesn't have some integrity check or secure thingy access.
info:
Login with Biometrics on Android | Android Developers
In this codelab you will add biometric authentication to your app as part of your login process. You will not replace your current login process – users can still log in with their account password. Instead, you will augment your login process, giving users the convenience to not have to...

hmmm it's also not available in my Keepass2Android. I'll look into this later -- I don't think fingerprint support is part of Play Services.

It might be an issue with the LineageOS source tree when I last synchronized. I checked some of my other devices with LOS built on the same date and they all don't have the fingerprint option available in apps.

I came from this build, https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/lineage-18-android-11-for-pixel-4a-sunfish.4199889/
And there it worked fine
I first installed with MicroG, then went with Gapps, and neither work

[GUIDE] OOS 10.3.8 degoogled, debloated + MigroG

I have successfully degoogled and debloated the latest OOS (atm 10.3.8) and have a working microg setup using nanodroid package. Battery life is nice. 45hrs with 10,5hrs SOT on the first go! Not any unwanted background data moving, success I'd say! So for anyone interested, here are roughly the steps I took.
I couldn't deodex the services.jar with VdexExtractor so I used FakeGapps from Edxposed. Works!
In following guide we will first get a factory state OOS with twrp and root WITHOUT internet. Then we uninstall system app 'android setup', allow internet, get Edxposed working and FakeGapps installed. Then we install Nanodroid package from twrp to get a working microg and setup it and debloat. + Disable trackers using App Manager from F-droid repositories or github. Get it ready for sideloading or use adb. Support the developer!
General guide (everything gets erased):
1. Pure factory installment using MSM tool for 10.3.8 from Oneplus 6 unbrick tools. (XDA forum)
2. The phone starts, go through the initial setup bypassing everything you can. DON'T SETUP ANY WIFI!
3. Immediately switch off mobile data from quick settings, just in case. We dont want android setup to update any apps.
4. Enable unlocking the phone, reboot to bootloader
5. Unlock the bootloader (fastboot oem unlock)
6. Do parts 2 and 3 again (choose Oneplus slate font at this time if you ever want it to work)
7. Enable USB debugging, connect to computer, check 'adb devices' to get the window to allow the computer to appear. (The daemon needs to be running)
This all was to get the phone into pure factory state without automated changes, bootloader unlocked and adb working.
8. Install twrp and magisk. Boot up the phone.
9. Remember! No internet connections yet! Uninstall the system app 'Android Setup'. I used sideloaded AppManager for that. You'll know when you have uninstalled the correct app when the notification of android setup disappears.
10. Reboot
11. Now you can connect to internet.
12. In magisk, install Riru core, (mandatory reboot here!) and Riru Edxposed (2nd reboot)
13. In Edxposed, install FakeGapps and activate it. Reboot.
13. Now you can connect to internet.
This was all done to setup the phone for Nanodroid package and get safely to internet without unwanted updates.
14. Download a nanodroid package from github. I used just the microg version. Flash it from twrp. It should debloat some necessary google stuff, install aurorastore and aurora services and straight up working microg.
15. Check if microg is working and do registrations and enable cloud and location stuff. Reboot.
16. Install any app that uses google cloud service for push notifications and check from microg settings that it shows in the list. Don't continue installing any such apps until it does. Reboot or troubleshoot if necessary with microg related info.
17. Back up current setup from twrp for fallback.
18. Debloat to your heart content, except only disable and force stop the play store. In my case the app is still the official one. Don't use.
19. From AppManager, run disable all trackers, including system apps from 1-click ops.
There! Use some time, and if everything is to your liking, make a backup. Remember to disable trackers from every app you install after you have configured it.
Sidenote: Aurora store did not work when installed systemlessly, but worked fine as a user app
Reserved, just in case

How To Install Magisk On Poco X3 NFC ?

I've unlocked bootloaders, installed Magisk and installed plenty of custom ROMs on different phones,
but this Poco X3 NFC has been just a bit 'annoying' from the beginning (ie. I had to try many different ways * before ability to 'register' for unlocking the bootloader, and then had to wait 7-days to actually do that )
Now, I just want to know how to get Magisk working ?
Currently I'm on MiUI ROM (but I will install AICP or CrDroid, in a few days),
and trying to install Magisk on this now.
I've got TWRP installed but Magisk doesn't have flashable .ZIPs,
because Magisk has moved to the .APK manager now.
So, in Magisk Manager, it asks me to patch a file, but which file would this be ?
How to get Magisk v23 installed on this Android 11-based MiUI ROM ?
Thanks.
*
I had to:
- register a Xiaomi account (this must be logged on the phone)
- put in a SIM card, with data activated (this must be enabled, to get the Xiaomi account working)
- send a SMS, to verify the number (Xiaomi checks/logs/records multiple levels of my identity)
- download a Xiaomi tool to unlock the bootloader (Xiaomi's tool did not work & I had to find one, from Github (and XDA) )
I have unlocked bootloaders on Samsung, Motorola, Oneplus, Asus … and Xiaomi is the most annoying, intrusive and cumbersome unlocking.

You just have to rename magisk.apk to magisk.zip and flash it via TWRP without wiping cache

Very good.
Yes, thank you.
I tried this and it was easy,
ie. to go into TWRP (by Brigudav) --> Advanced Options --> Install Magisk
Simple and effective.
My next issue then, was finding out,
that in TWRP, if I wanted to install TWRP.img (in phone's storage) ,
all files/folders in SDCARD were "encrypted" but I don't have lockscreen or PIN pattern turned on.
What causes this 'encryption' ?
Same here, it's the default on recent Android systems, it seems -- and can also be checked by entering the following in a terminal:
$ getprop | grep encrypt
You need to reset to factory setings in TWRP after removing any types of pin, or pattern lock.

I meant in terms of hardware, My A13 uses the same exynos 850 & Mali gpu as the A12.

What is this?
Pixel Experience is an AOSP based ROM, with Google apps included and all Pixel goodies (launcher, wallpapers, icons, fonts, bootanimation)
Our mission is to offer the maximum possible stability and security, along with essential and useful features for the proper functioning of the device
Based on Android 12.0 (11 is available but 12 has no difference in terms of issues and is faster an the better ui and everything else of course)
Disclaimer:- This will void warranty.
You will need to unlock bootloader.
*All your data will be lost*
Read all the steps correctly
BUGS:- bluetooth ear/headphones do not work workaround- ( go into phh treble settings misc features and enable force-disable a2dp offload (thanks to @Lil_Boudy for figuring it out!)
If bluetooth crashes your system disable media recommendations under Sound & Vibration > Media > Show media recommendations
mtp not working (mtp does work in twrp and in some custom kernels the one linked here does not fix mtp as it is not changing too many things compared to other custom kernels which brick some phones)
sim 1 incoming and outgoing does not work (you can revieve calls and call but you wonth hear anything nor will your mic go trying to fix) (workaround is to put your sim into slot 2) (i have heard that other people dont have this issue so i guess try your luck)
DO NOT let the phone die of battery you will not be able to boot you can get back by holding volume down and power (workaround- in magisk install acca https://github.com/Magisk-Modules-Repo/acc and install this apk after installing https://github.com/MatteCarra/AccA then set profile to default (this will shut down the phone at 5% hence removing the risk of your phone not booting after hitting 0%

Increase performance without any battery impact or (by feravolt and gloeysik)
Step 1
- Uninstall ANY OTHER KERNEL MANAGER app including smartpack/Ktweaks to avoid conflict, since this app uses AI and machine learning to dynamically boost performance when needed
- Install FDE AI Magisk Module to make it a system app, thus it will work better and removes all kernel locks from OEMs (I'm looking at you, Samsung) https://github.com/feravolt/FDE.AI-docs/releases/download/12.4.1m/FDE.AI-as-system-app.MAGISK.zip
- Update FDE AI to the latest version by downloading the latest APK here, since the fde ai magisk module will only install fde ai 12.4.1, not the latest version: https://github.com/feravolt/FDE.AI-docs/releases
- Move to the bottom of the screen and select AI Chat, then type /advancedai (no space, no uppercase letters). This will going to make the AI more effective, without you having to do anything.
- Go to the settings tab and use the AUTO settings for FDE AI.

If the phone is turned off, will the data be deleted?
Can you explain more for beginners like me?
I turned on the phone screen in this video. See the delay in execution.
