Question S908U firmware question - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

I have a quick question for someone about my S908U. I bought a S22 ultra from Verizon and kept their services for abut 4 months. I am now with AT&T. I would like to remove all of Verizon apps , so I thought that I would flash the AT&T firmware on the phone. My problem is, there are a lot of firmware out there to choose from, so my question is ,which firmware do I choose to be right?
This is what I come up with; SM_S908U_ATT_S908USQU1AVC8_fac.zip, OR SM_S908U_ATT_S908USQU1AVA6__fac.zip
which one is right or are they both no good for my application ? If they are both wrong could some one point me in the right direction.
Thank You for your time,
Scotty

Make sure that you are not on bootloader 2 since you are trying to flash firmware that is bootloader 1. You can only flash the same bootloader and you can't downgrade. Once you decide what bootloader flash away

Thank you for your quick reply.
It sounds like good advise. Everything seems to work fine
on the phone and I suppose I could always use ADB to get rid of the bloat. I dont think ADB will get rid of the " sim isn't from verizon" notification which is annoying, but I can live with it.
Thanks again for your advise,
Scotty

Possible to convert flash SM-G930U firmware on a SM-930P?

Hey guys!
Yesterday I got a Sprint carried S7 SM-930P as a gift. The only problem is that although it works flawlessly on my sim cards (I'm not in the US), I found out that the 930P won't get the 7.0 update. Is it possible to flash the G930U firmware without messing my phone up?

I wouldn't do it unless your absolutely sure, I wouldn't be so sure if it's for a different model number. If they were able to have the same firmware flashed Samsung would just release it, they obviously didn't because it requires extra effort, pointing towards the conclusion that the firmware is not flashable on 930P

You can flash it, i have done it myself. There are many guides over here that tell you how. All S7s in the USA are the same exact thing hardware wise, only the software (firmware) is different. Am currently running SM-G930U firmware on an SM-G930VL S7. @op the sprint s7 (SM-G930P) already has android 7 as of last 3 weeks

Hey guys. I was able to flash the sm-g930u firmware downloaded from sammobile... the problem I have now.. I have a blank csc. No product code.. and on software updates it fails to register my device. Also in settings . I have some weird options. Which some of them are repeated. I will upload screenshots.. Also there's a system UPDATE option and also software option. Which one of them fails to register and the other only works with Wi-Fi. Should I revert back to my stock sprint firmware. If so do I need to wait for a firmware with same build date or newer. Because on sammobile haven't uploaded a firmware with a build date on par with the current install. Then I would have to wait right. ? If using a older firmware it will brick or do something to my phone ?

Thanks for the reply. Already solve.. what happen i flash home_csc. So ir was like that. But then i made a back up.. and flash again using the csc file. And all work perfect. At first phone was with the SPT csc.. then after i restored phone and pop in my sim it did something.. and now I'm with XAA csc. Works perfect. And could receive updates (phone registered). Just waiting for the july security patch update. Btw phone works better in every way.. battery even last longer..

Hey Buddy. I would recommend doing a full back up on your phone., using Smart Switch app
It saves all your numbers, message, etc..
Then proceed to flash the latest firmware for the Region or Provider. Using (CSC) not (home_csc) which means flashing the csc will wipe your phone data. Phone will be like new again. Proceed tru set up. Loggin in gmail. Proceed to update smart switch app if not found in apps. Then restore from the back up file. And good to go.

actually all S7 are not the same hardware fyi. The Sm-g930p has chipsets snapdragon and uses cpu procesaor quad core but the sm-g930F has the chipset Exynos8 cpu is octa-CORE the chipsets vary from these two. Flashing firmware for one chipset to the other may cause major problems bot to mention bootloops.. but I looked up sm-g930U and it uses the same processor as the P model.snapdragon

He said all S7's in the USA are the same, which is correct. Exynos/930F isn't sold in the US, only way to get one is to grey import.
You can flash any USA model's firmware onto any other USA model because they're all the same hardware.
anyone running the 930p with current update how did you get around the binary 6 lock all the 930U firmware versions I can find are binary 4 I think t-mobile is 5. Anyone got links to a firmware we can push to sprint variants that are binary 6.

You can't get around it. It is currently impossible to "downgrade" the bootloader binary version. All US carrier variants are version 4, except Sprint that is 6. You are stuck.
The only way it would ever be possible is if (a) one of the carriers, in a future software update, increases their bootloader version to 6, or (b) if someone figures out how to unlock the bootloader for the Snapdragon models.
Neither of those options is likely to happen, ever. You might get lucky and hope the G930U unlocked version has a higher number (it hasn't been released for Oreo yet), but I wouldn't bet on it.

Blame Sprint; there is really no reason for them to do what they did except keep users from switching their phone to another carrier. This isn't a Samsung thing. I don't believe you would be able to do this with any other Android phone, either (i.e. go backwards in bootloader versions).

[FIRMWARE] G950U1 Unlocked AT&T QK2

As of this writing (11/29/2017) this is the latest firmware for the G950U1 att unlocked S8 . I'm leaving this here for reference so people can return to it if/when they need it.
Download, extract, remove .md5 file name off the end of each file, flash.
G950U1UEU2AQK2 (This WILL update your bootloader so after this, no going to QH3 or before. Not that you'd have a reason to)

If I flash unbranded FW on a carrier specific device, loke tmo or att for example, would it sim unlock the phone?
If I flash tmo FW on an att s8 would it in turn allow me to use the att original device on tmo? I ask these questions because I feel like it would work for both my questions since flashing the FW flashes both boot, kernel and baseband/radio. The which is needed for signal. Just some theories but would love to know the answers.
Btw, I have a F model S8+ and was planning on buying some US branded devices so I was curious.

No, it will not unlock the phone (Note: Verizon phones are factory unlocked and remain that way after a firmware flash)
Yes, you can flash any carriers FW to a US S8 and use it with a different carrier.
So I understand, your saying if I flash att FW to a T-Mobile s8 I can use it on tmobile? If that is the case, to me that's an unlock of sorts tiny book lol. Just wanna make sure is all

Just realized the typo.....what I meant was, if I flash ATT on a TMO variant I can use ATT while locked to tmo? I'm very unfimiar with combination fw and always opted for the UK models for alot of reasons. Sorry for the confusion of my op question. I know on the s7 and edge if you flashed the US unlocked firmware it not only removed AOL bloat but it unlocked the device. So that is why I ask.

I had a TMobile S7 edge and flashing unlocked firmware never unlocked the device. That's handled by TMobile servers so...
Flashing unlocked firmware will give you just that. The smoother, bloat free firmware from another device but not the actual sim unlock.
I bought an unlocked device and wanted wifi calling so I flashed the g950usqs1aqf7 att firmware with Odin and it worked to enable wifi calling but I'm unable to get any ota updates and I hate the bloat. Is it possible to get WiFi calling with an unlocked firmware like this one? Also what is the difference between the U and U1 firmware variants?

There are plenty of threads on this, but I don't think anyone was ever successful. I flashed att Oreo to my u1 and got the options, but can't get my company to change my imei back.... My personal phone sim works fine. Quit at that point since it's an Ims registration error. You can try merging the wifi calling apks, but I'm pretty sure it's baked pretty deep in the os. The Verizon guys got some of it working. You can try their threads and see if any of it applies to us.

Thanks. Some threads made it sound possible but inconclusive. I'll just assume it doesn't work.
BTW, can you link to the att oreo fw? And what do u flash that with Odin or comsey?
The thread right below this one entitled Oreo ota has all the details and it needs to be side loaded through adb. Not Odin. But you will need to Odin the 950u base to get off u1

Ok thanks. I need to flash anyways because I'm having terrible battery issues and just debating whether to go to a newer version of 950u or back to U1 and losing WiFi calling. In your opinion is oreo beta worth it
So just to confirm, I have read everything, but I am just a bit confused. If I flashed the unlocked firmware via modified odin on a locked AT&T S8 it will remove a lot of the carrier bloat and give my my wifi hotspot back, but remove wifi calling. Similar to when I flashed the T-Mobile firmware on my AT&T S7 and got rid of a ton of the AT&T bloatware but was able to activate my wifi hotspot but lost wifi calling. I stay locked to AT&T which is fine that is not my purpose for flashing

The links don't work. Any chance you've still got the firmware? I've been overseas since october. I have an unlocked AT&T phone that I intend to keep using when I get back, so I want to keep it AT&T FW.
Hi.
I have a G955U Galaxy S8+ AT&T Factory Unlocked on Android 7.0
Baseband Version: G955USQU1AQD9
Android Security Patch Level - April 1, 2017
I no longer live in the US, and currently in the Philippines. Phone works great and the signal is too and all, but I cannot get OTA updates.
Can I just download the firmware file in this thread and flash straight through ODIN, or do I need to follow another guide?

What is the difference between the G955U and the G955U1?

I have a G955U1, is this ANY different than the G955U? Besides the name, I mean. Can I flash G955U firmware on my G955U1? Thanks.

but in G955U1 the bootloader is locked

I have been asking a lot about this myself. i am on tmobile. not sure if i want to make the leap to unlocked. want to keep visual voicemail, wifi calling, rcs support and what not. but i want to get in on the beta for pie. running drl7 now but the video bug with netflix and what not is annoying.
The u1 is bootloader locked. The u firmware is bootloader locked
If you own a u device and it is not sim unlocked the only advantage u1 firmware give is carrier bloat.
The u1 firmware can be flashed on a u device. But other than listed above no other perks come from this.

I can semi-confirm this. From the recovery menu I can select bootloader and it boots to SOMETHING.....but it looks like it's booting to their downloader version and not what people would traditionally see from a normal bootloader screen. I do know this screen does NOT work for having the phone detected by Platform Tools so no way to use that at all as far as I can see. UGH. I swear I should have just bought a Pixel 2 when I had the chance. GODS Samsung is annoying. :crying:

When you click reboot to bootloader it takes you to what as known as download mode which is how we flash stock firmware. And maybe a couple other things but yea mainly for stock firms. Its used by a program called odin and the latest is 3.13 i believe.

Yea hopefully someone will respond to my main question in the noobie thread. Or maybe you would know. So I know Odin is the program Samsung uses to load new ROM on a phone. And I thought I read somewhere that there was a modified version of Odin that someone made that could install new/different ROM's. But I also saw in another message that either the current version of Odin, or the current version of the modified Odin could still load other ROM's and that someone had tested this. So that was my original primary question.
Is there a way I can use one or the other to load a Stock Android Pie ROM like what might come with a Pixel so I can avoid all the garbageware from Samsung? Or is there a chance doing that, that I would have some of my hardware features disabled since that seems to be an issue loading a ROM from another phone? And if so. Has anyone made a ROM for Samsung phones with all the garbage programs removed? Or is it still too early in the release of Pie for Samsung for that to be a reality right now?
Thank You for the info.

There is a pie beta I don't know if it is official yet. If you flash the unlocked firmware I've read you lose features like WiFi calling and volte. But I have not tried pie or unlocked firm ware on mine. There is a thread on installing safestrap then doing a rooted system images then from there depending on the flashed image if you do debloat. Again I haven't tried the new root method. I'm still on a really old revision from end of 2017

Ok thanks for the info. So apparently right now it's just a bit too early to be trying to find a Pie ROM that would work with my phone and not loose some hardware features. Which I guess makes sense since Samsung is only just now releasing it for S9's I believe in european countries I guess primarily to make sure how they borked it with their own software and tweaking didn't totally screw up their phones. Heh.
Oddly enough I got all excited when I saw it said there was an update today, but all it was for was a security update to bring it up to "Feb 1st, 2019" Android security level.
Thanks for the info about things. :good:

When you click reboot to bootloader it takes you to what as known as download mode which is how we flash stock firmware. And maybe a couple other things but yea mainly for stock firms. Its used by a program called odin and the latest is 3.13 i believe.

Yes you can flash the u1 firm Ware as long as its the same revision bootloader 5th digit from the last.
I think you have to flash the equal combination file first

I want to flash pie can I process?

Please help with switching firmwares, kind of a weird situation.

Getting a new-in-box Note10+ today from Swappa, so I assume it will be on some Android 9.0 TMO firmware. I need to get it onto the Verizon firmware.
SamFirm only gives the latest Android 10 firmwares. (It may be important to note that the VZW and XAA files both have the exact same filename: SM-N975U1_10_20200118102941_hj8esiossq_fac)
Is it safe to open the box > go straight into download mode > flash the newest VZW firmware via Odin?
Or are there other things I should do first? For example (in no particular order):
- first boot
- updating the software via settings
- flashing XAA firmware, THEN first boot with verizon sim already in phone per this thread, THEN flash VZW firmware
Thank you. Also any other suggestions are welcomed.

100% safe to immediately flash VZW firmware. The phone wont know any difference if you booted it first or not.

Thank you. And I just noticed this is the Note 10 forum not the 10+ forum (thanks google)...
What about concerns per the thread I linked where flashing VZW firmware is still recognized as a TMO device unless you boot the XAA firmware with the verizon sim before flashing the VZW firmware? Is that an old issue that's no longer a problem now?
The device won't mind that I'm jumping from an older version of Android to a newer version? What about the bootloader version, when does that get updated, as I understand it's currently on version 2 and how will that affect this process?
Thanks again, you post was short and being an $800 device I obviously am trying to have all my bases covered before messing with it.

you cannot go backwards in bootloader revisions, but you can go backwards in android versions as long as theyre on the same BL revision(not likely, but who knows? I didnt look yet). Also, the worst thing that could happen if you try to flash an older BL version is that itll fail in Odin and will still allow the phone to boot normally (usually, and if it doesnt, its still fixable). The only issue with booting it after flashing new firmware with your current sim is that itll install the carrier specific stuff on the phone so long as the CSC needed for that is in the multi CSC pack you flashed on the phone, and if it does install the carrier crap you dont want, just factory reset it and reboot with the actual sim you want you use
no problem man, thats what we are here for

Question Change Stock Firmware for T-Mobile F711U/1 US FLIP 3?

Hey folks, recently picked up one of the Flip 3s from T-Mobile on their magenta plan thing. I have desperately been trying to figure out how to change the stock firmware so I could hopefully root it, but nothing is working so far. I'd settle just for being able to change, not root at this point.
Using ODIN I've been able to flash different versions of the T-Mobile firmware, including from what I think is F711U to F711U1 and even a USC one I think, but any attempt at flashing XAA fails and I'm not sure why.
Does anybody know if it's possible to install non T-Mobile stock rom on this, or better yet, also root it?
Thanks in advance if anybody can offer any advice.
are you trying to unlock it?
i’ve got the device in the same plan too and looking for a way to unlock it so i can use it with another SIM
яno such an experience, but it could be useful for me. I am waiting for some competent answers here
Last I've read samsung locked us out. US devices cannot be unlocked
I used ODIN and flashed the Thom Browne firmware to my T-Mobile locked Z Flip 3 and even flashed to the Android 12 beta.

What ODIN are you using and I'm assuming it is on Bit 1?

I had accidentally gone up to bit 2 but using an odin that let me flash regardless of model mismatch I managed to get the most recent version of the stock firmware on it anyway. So now I no longer have to deal with the t-mobile bloat on top of it at least.
It's sad these things probably won't be rootable for a while but I can at least live with that.
Ok so you got it to U1 then?
