Mi 10 Pro global rom with China theme store, want Eu themes - Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro Questions & Answers

Hi i have a Chinese version (M2001J1C) mi 10 pro. I tried saving money by getting a mate to buy it from China for me. The price saving was great but unlocking it was a pain and since then I struggled for a bit and finally unlocked it and installed a Global rom as soo as i got it, but the mi themes store is the Chinese version still so parts of the theme have Chinese and sometimes they do weird things but the text coming up is Chinese and i'm Aussie, so i'd REALLY like to find a rom that installs the Eu version of the theme store that i loved and used on my previous Eu version Mi max 3. Or is there a way to install the other store or get it to switch region and access the other theme store?
Any help would be much appreciated, i've been living with this a few years now and it's finally getting to me as well as increasing it's frequency at which weird theme popups are happening that change the background and lockscreen settings, so it's gotta go!!! Thanks

Thanks for replying.
I had a look at both of those links and it seems they both link themes to this site https://zhuti.xiaomi.com/ which is just like the themes my phone currently links to, full of 1/2 English/ 1/2 Chinese mixed themes so there's Chinese characters for various things. I'd rather have full English so i can understand it all, also the Chinese themes can be pretty gaudy and not to my tastes. I think this is actually the rom i'm already on, but it seems stuck on 12.5 and has not had any updates for about a year now.
I hope i don't sound ungrateful, i do appreciate help finding a solution that suits me

Unlike stock ROMs, access is not limited to theme, AOD, ringtones, Wallpaper, fonts.
The gobal or EEA roms are very limited at this level.
You can easily edit a theme or Aod to remove Chinese terms.
the choice is simple few or many choices with some Chinese terms.

It looks like I'm already on the Xiaomi.eu rom but it's stopped updating. It's been so long since i installed it i had to refresh my memory.
It's not just that there's some Chinese characters that i can change (although not something I've ever attempted before) it's that the choice of themes is entirely different and very Asian flavoured compared to the themes that were available on my mi max 3. And on top of that, the phone's been unlocking in my pocket lately and opening themes settings in chinese and it's messing up my phone and pissing me off. So I'd like to find a new rom that the CCP isn't climbing around in if possible

You mean the famous update supposed to include "3D Buildings" and "Text to speech"?
That would be cool.
Installed.
Sorry, I don't like it compared to the official "2577" folder I had previously on my HD2.
This version is less complete. It does not include the useful "Quick Menu" for instance....
I think it's actually an old version. Isn't it?
Thanks for the heads up!

Don't know if its an older version or not, it seems to include more voicers, and I prefer the colour of it, dunno how you turn off the start up voice which it says u can...

The last version (once updated via CoPilot Central) was 8.0.0.557 which suggests that this .659 version is newer, not older I think.
Actually it's the old interface. The one I had cooked in when I bought my HD2.
Since Copilot has totally revamped the interface, including a better menu and also a convenient quick menu which is launched at start up.
the version posted in this thread misses many features. So it is maybe a new version for HD2, but i is old compared to the regular version available on ALK website.
No comparison.
You will find that the quick menu has only been removed as it conflicted with the Navigation Panel and other features on the HD2.
I use the Navi Panel, and before if you clicked HOME on it, it would open Copilot, but thats it. It would stop on the quick menu.
Now it loads up your home favourite, so you can just click go.
ALSO, it now works with Footprints, so you can click on the footprint coordinates and it will give you directions to it. Again, this didnt work before.
Finally, Device screen orientations now works. Before I had to set it, now it rotates to either portrait or landscape.
These are all things that didnt work for ME before.
So in all, there are a few fixes there. I also prefer the black menu, suits the HD2 more.
Thank you for these clarifications.
Never had any issue with the regular version
Text to Speech
Can anyone confirm if Text to Speech and Traffic now work with this version?
Actually, I noticed a bug with this update.
It switches on automatically the bluetooth (and of course doesn't turn it off when I leave Copilot).
Anyone else noticed it?
I spoke to ALK support and they said that the HD2 needs it's own specific update to make TTS and Traffic work.
I am hoping this is the update, but as I'm not due to drive anywhere over the next few days it would be great if someone could confirm it works.
I'll also ask ALK if this is the update they were talking about.
Many thank for the info JetMouse.
I heard that on the Iphone version the TTS was not very good, and also that you have to select a male voice to have it working (don't remember the name)...
Will try tomorrow.
Please, regarding the bluetooth, anyone also has the same problem as me (automatic switch on)?
Thanks
Just had a reply from ALK:
"This version should indeed allow you to use TTS and the Premium Services".
Will be interesting to see if it's any good!
Thanks for the update, tried it and didn't like it.
Was using the latest standard v620 one, TTS and Premium Live Services work great as it does on this current one, but I hate the black theme and I really miss the startup screen which asks me what to do.
Plus I found it to be buggy, tends to randomly crash during startup which the official standard one does not and I found the HD2 version to have very sluggish menu transitions while the standard blue themed one runs silky smooth.

I agree with this. Did not like this HD2 version neither.
The interface of the latest standard one is indeed really better....
Also I found some bugs in this new HD2 version (for instance the "More Options" button, which does not work).
Update successfull,everything works fine .

To do this go into the More Settings and then click on Sound. You should see a tick box where you can now turn off the start up sound and even the button sounds.

CHUWI Hi8 SE Tablet Any Good?

Anyone have a CHUWI Hi8 SE 8-inch Android 8.1 Oreo Tablet?
I was looking on Amazon and the specs seem pretty good, but I've never really heard of the company.
Are they any good?
Reliable?
I'm tempted to buy one.
I just got one today, haven't had much time to try it out yet. I'll write more next time.
In the meantime, I also have a few questions regarding the Chuwi's Android flavor (for anyone that might know the answers):
- With the default setup/launcher, is there really no way to customize the toggles in the notification area?
- Is it possible to use gestures instead of the bottom row 3 buttons? Haven't found the related settings anywhere yet.
I bought this tablet recently. It is a great value for the money!
Great screen, vanilla Android 8.1.0, no bloatware, 32gb storage.
My only complaint is that I'm completely unable to format SD card as internal (it has the option) or move apps to SD (there is no option). It's really weird and I'd like to figure this out!
I love it so far. Using it mounted in car for Waze navigation and Amazon music with everything automated through Automate Android app.
I agree, it's a great value for money, and unlike some (?) Xiaomi devices (which are actually great as well), it comes without bloatware and the kill-me-now privacy policy (and I can pretty much disable all apps I don't need, which was impossible on my last Xiaomi "trip").
And their support is even more responsive than that of my bank.
Other than that, I miss gestures (the bottom 3-button row on the screen is the only way to go), and I installed Nova launcher because I didn't really like the default one.
One more thing... the recovery mode is in Chinese - can someone post a translation of the first level menu?

It's not a bad tablet. Build-quality is pretty good and for the money, it is a good value. My only problem with it is that it doesn't recognize any of the Micro SD cards I put in (cards are fine as I tested them in other devices).
Came across some weirdness in one of the two system updates sections - namely, every now and then, the checking for updates fails, and the status line says
Code:
Failed to connect to fota5t.xxx.com/0.0.0.0:443
(see the screenshot below)
Sometimes it gets resolved correctly in the same session. My guess is they (Chuwi?) have issues with DNS or are attacked occasionally.... I mean, why in the world would the update URL end in xxx.com (the 0.0.0.0 IP is probably one of my blockades, on the other hand).
Hi. Is possible root this tablet? Thanks you

CHUWI Hi8 SE performance
The performance is very poor. The interface is not moving smooth at all. It cannot play 60FPS (neither 1080p nor 720p) clips in YouTube app. Chrome frequently freezes in use for 1 or 2 seconds.
Touch screen is very very poor. Is not calibrated and very insensitive.
Disappointed!
Any possibility to root the device?
TWRP or root solution for this device?
Very good price from BangGood
Managed to find its base ROM on Chuwi's official forum.
It'd be great to be able to root it or, even better, to have an Android 5 ROM for it since Oreo (8) is a bit laggy. ~
I recommend it ! :fingers-crossed:
Android 9
Any news with Android 9 for this device ?
Thanks
One of two bricked,
I bought two for my kids, one of them just died after 6 months, haven't figured figure out what yet, suspect battery. As I bought from banggood it's no point claiming warranty, cost to much time. Bought new in Europe, lesson learned.

Yes it is. I have not had a single issue with it. After sideloading the OTA, there was a message about registering my sim. My guess would be it was looking for an esim, which I don't have, but after that my sim was recognized and all has been running smoothly.
works fine for me, the only issue I've found is with GooglePay, where it doesn't allow me to add a credit card.
On a good note, they implemented VoLTE services with my network provider (TIM Italy) not available on Android O/10

Exactly, Colors are all over the place, notifications are a mess, user friendliness has gone for a toss, android auto is ****, its almost begging users to switch to iOS, its a bloody shame, seems like no body is incharge, and everyone in all departments are experimenting forever.
Dont even start about play store!!
Apps look horrible forever. Believe me people will easily buy Pixel if only google appoints one person for whole os rather than army of different people with different ideas.

I regret installing the android preview. It is very buggy and for some reason when I use YouTube it starts scrolling thru the comments section without me touching the screen.
I have to agree, android has gotten pretty ugly. Remember Honeycomb? It was kind of rad in it own rights. Had a color scheme, they introduced the Roboto font, the wallpapers looked like they all belonged to a pack and nit just random stock images of bubbles. Holo kept everything uniform. It seemed to be the 1st and last time they had a clear concise vision for an OS.
Hell, the little android guy was a bee lol.

Why did you install it? IT'S A DEVELOPER RELEASE! You experienced exactly what is expected. The release is PRE-BETA and for developers and enthusiasts to test and report issues. In other words, you are suppose to experience bugs - that's the whole purpose of the release.
Did you even report your issues? Probably not. I'm sure it was just easier to come online and complain about your experience.

Question Pixel 7 Pro can't sideload apks

Hey so I have a bunch of older apks I prefer over newer ones from play store. I have them backed up. They have always worked on my Sammy phones. This is my first Pixel and I love it. I activated unknown sources and gave permissions to file managers and still it fails. I tried with a 3rd party manager (solid explorer) and it says app not compatible with this version on android.
But I have android 13 on my Sammy phone and it works fine. Anyone have a tip?
I also have play protect and device security off or deactivated
That sounds familiar. I recall some people on the Pixel 6 Pro claiming they couldn't sideload apps, but I never had any problem, and there were others who didn't have problems either.
Edit: You might want to search the titles of threads in the Pixel 6 Pro section for:

I had a nice read... but it's not exactly my issue. my apps are all paid. Maybe I'll just use the newer versions and delete the collection of old apks. is it a 64bit ARM app you're installing?
Does the P7P drop support for 32bit native applications? I recall something along those lines being talked about, but it was supposed to be in connection with the upcoming pixel tablet.
Confirmed: factory images for P7[P] drop all 32bit ABI's. If a native application lacks 64bit, it will not work.
Will look into it I just got off work here in Germany

First is from today. I got 3h sot. 3 hours. On the right is another one with a lot of playing Snap. But still, on my 12t pro i got so much better results, at least twice as much...
Any tricks? I'm on dual SIM. There is cleary something wrong with this battery. 13 is super efficient wieth gen2 chipset.
I dont want to return it badly, but those results are just ugly
Thanks a lot!
A lot of installed trashware... ditch the social media apps and see what you got.
FB is one of the worst sites on the planet.
But i'm using it. I was was using it on 12t pro as well.
Well, this is exacly clone od my 12t pro, apps etc. I got there about 40 procent at the end of day with that phone. Dont get this
Snap, Messenger and fb are using over 35% and that's not including what they're racking up on dependent services like Android services and Google play Services. You are what you load... consequences.

Idk, do you have issue with reading when im saying this is close od my old phone where i got WAY better results? With those apps like FB od messanger?
If you haven't, switch software to EU Rom. It solved for me. I had bad battery life with CN ROM and now it's fine. It does drain faster if you are using the phone in certain scenarios due to powerful cpu.

Agreed; either install EU ROM or debloat the one you currently have.
I got my xiaomi 13 a couple of days ago and I will be able to bootloader-unlock it in 72 hours.
Can I ask 2 questions ?
. I have a global (european) ROM, is it worth it to update to xiaomi.eu ROM ? would I need to flash CN ROM first ?
. is there a debloat guide somewhere ?
thanks !

Yep,
no need to flash the CN firmware, already included in the rom.
For the first installation your data will be erased.
Not many useless apps in these roms, but in case you use(outdated but works fine).
Note: This project is outdated and no longer maintained.
