Hi all, I have a problem with my phone.
The touchscreen isn't working anymore. The OTG is not enabled (so I can't connect a mouse). The USB debugging mode is off. The phone is not rooted and it is locked, I think I can't enter to the fastboot mode. My recovery is the stock one, but the any option I choose is asking for the password, so I can't enter.
I have a lockscreen that is where I'm stuck. I can see everything. It is very frustrating.
What can I do? I want to recovery every data, even my WhatsApp chats, etc.

I'm attempting to flash clockwork recovery and can't get the phone to respond to fastboot devices when in fastboot mode. I've tried everything I can find with regards to the drivers (pdanet, usbdeview, etc) and I can get google's and pdanet's drivers working fine with the phone booted normally (responds to adb devices). The problem seems to be that windows appears not to even notice that the phone is plugged in in fastboot mode and does not appear in the device manager, making the manual installation of drivers an impossibility.
Anyone know how to fix this?

in the main setting, application, developer settings.. is usb debugging enabled?

When I first set up ADB and Fastboot on my pc, I was getting a response when writing 'adb devices' in the console. However, 'fastboot devices' returned absolutely nothing.
Solution (with phone connected to pc and usb debugging cheched):
1-shut down the phone
2-press and hold Volume Up key + Power
3-once in bootloader interface, in the pc command prompt, type 'fastboot devices'.
Voila!
By the way, don't mount the phone as usb storage device.
Thanks for the responses guys but yes, USB debugging is enabled and yes, I've used that way to get to fastboot mode as well as adb reboot bootloader

easy way to set up fastboot

Have the same problem: locked bootloader, not rooted 4.1.2. In ADB everything is ok, drivers ok (in device manager), can get it through "adb devices". But when I boot in fastboot (adb reboot bootloader), I hear the ti-da windows sound (usb unpluged - from adb session), but no ta-di when the phone re-boot in fastboot. No exclamation mark in device manager, nothing. The USB receive nothing when in fastboot. Is it possible that the fastboot image is corrupted? Can I reflash it? Or any other advice?

EDIT - SOLVED - at least this step
The problem was the famous "broken power button"! I knew that I had problems with the power button (didn't work - that's why I try to flash a rom (4.2.1 or customized) with sleep tile in notification area).
I thought that the button is all the time OFF and don't switch to ON, but I finally understood that when when I boot in fastmode it freeze before installing device on the PC (I also had no volume up / down navigation in fastboot, a sign that it was frozen). So I ended to consider that the power button was permanently in ON position. I opened my phone and I measure the impedance on the power button. I had ~ 4ohms in off position of the button and 1.8 ohms (cheap multimetter.... probably should be almost 0) in on position. I measured also on volume switch where I had ~ infinite on off position, so I concluded that the button if blocked. I tried to see if I can resurrect it but no choice, so I took it off (unsoldered). I put the battery and the USB cable and boot it. From ADB I reboot it in fastboot and voila! The device popped in device manager! One problem solved! BUT...
I tried to use the Nexus Root Toolkit and it boots in fastmode and try to unlock the bootloader, but it asked me on phone screen if I agree for unlocking. I was able to use the volume to select Yes but I couldn't choose it with power! I had no option but to take the battery off. Starting from that point it was almost impossible to power it again. When I plugged the USB it shown the battery icon (charging). I tried every trick that I found on web, but nothing worked (even to fast plug / unplug many times the USB to overcharge it, but nothing). I was able only by pressing on the middle of volume (so Up and DOWN in the same time) and plus the USB to get to the screen of unlocking bootloader, but without the options YES/NO on the screen. Seems that it saves this state between boots, but why no option? Finally I was unable to boot at all, and it is like totally bricked

OK So I am in the exact same situation.
Nexus S, Broken power button, adb can see the device, fastboot cannot. fastboot cannot be navigated with the volume keys.
I also want to put an other rom onto it, but firstly I want to put TWRP recovery on it, as it supports touch, CW needs the power
button which like mentioned does not work.
I would rather not unsolder my power button to get into fastboot, any suggestions on how that might still be achieved?

Yes, it should have been better for me to have also a possibility to enter in fastboot with the power button blocked in ON position, but I didn't find. And now I know no way how to power it up...

I need help getting a Droid Pro working again.
1. I broke the screen so I ordered a replacement and was able to replace it and the phone powers up no problem but it is currently stuck in a bootloop after SBF.
2. The volume buttons, although physically working, don't appear to be recognized in software for some reason. As a result, I am not able to access bootloader (Vol Up + Vol Down).
3. I can access Stock recovery, but again because the volume buttons don't work as they should, when the stock recovery comes up the only thing I can do is select the option that is highlighted by default. The volume buttons are used to highlight options and the entry that is highlighted is to reboot the device. I am unable to highlight the option to factory reset.
4.Because I SBF'd, the USB debugging is turned off by default since the phone bootloops and I am unable to boot into the system to turn on the USB debugging. Therefore, without USB debugging turned on, I can't use ADB to send some commands from my laptop.
I am stuck in catch-22 hell. Someone please help me out. Thanks.

I'm trying to root my Shield K1 (Android 6.0) since hours, without success because:
I have no acces via adb. Im using the latest adb and also the right drivers (see picture) but I alwas get the message "unauthorized" in adb.
I can't boot my tablet into fastboot mode. When I press the power button + volume up to come into the menu and I select fastboot protocol, the tablet just starts again into the same menu - so i don't get into the fastboot mode. Pressing the powerbutton + volume down don't works either.
I have tried already almost everything: uninstallig drivers/reinstalling it, factory reset on my K1,...
So how I can root my phone without adb or fastboot? Can anyone help?
Even the recovery mode is broken I think, after booting into it, the green android with an red triangle is shown.
Is there something wrong with my K1?
PS: In the menu, which is shown after pressing power + volume up, is standing:
[nvtboot] (version UNDEF_BUILD]

You need to enable USB debugging in the developer settings and then allow debugging access from your computer by accepting a popup on your tablet.
Yes, I know this and I did this of course. But there never poped up something on my tablet.
So I also resetted the debugging setting, wiped the tablet, but nothing helped.
1. Sometimes the micro USB cable you use can be bad so I would suggest trying a different cable (especially since you have a K1 which doesn't come with a charger or cable).
2. Fastboot mode is that screen with the menu, that's why "fastboot protocol" just takes you back to the same screen. Also, recovery mode on the stock tablet just shows the android icon and triangle, so your recovery mode is fine.
I would suggest booting the tablet into android (so not the fast boot or recovery mode) and connect it to the windows PC using different cables until the authorisation pop up come up.

I was able to get authorization from the computer, no issues there, however fastboot will not find the device and neither will adb when at the "fastboot mode."
I'm trying to get fastboot so I can flash a recovery, but no luck to this point.
Anyone have any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks so much mate! :good: That's the sentence, that helped me. I didn't know this menu is already the fastboot mode. So if one know this it's quite easy to proceed.
Problem solved - tablet already rooted
The adb access is still "unauthorized" but doesn't matter anymore.
No problem, glad you you got it sorted.
It's odd your ADB access is still unauthorised, but at least it still works.

Just as an FYI....I got mine working. Needed to reinstall the nvidia drivers... Got authorization, etc... so assumed working and as we all know assuming is bad!

OK, I have a Z5 E6683.
Unlocked bootloader.
ROM is Moonwalker 1.6.0 (TWRP 3.0.2.0) - 6.0.1
I have a pattern lock screen.
The screen is cracked making all touch input impossible.
The phone has been freshly booted meaning that it requires manual input to unlock which of course I can't do.
USB debugging is enabled. However...
When I connect using adb, it says "unauthorized", which is odd. I suspect that behind the locked screen, it's asking for authorization with a security fingerprint!
Getting into Recovery I managed once but annoying TWRP only allows touch input, not control via the volume and power keys.
I tried ADB when in recovery but it said that there's no phone on USB. (Not surprised given how funky Sonys are!)
I have tried an OTG cable both in Recovery and at the main screen - no joy - the mouse just doesn't work.
On the positive side, I can get into flash boot and fastboot, but from there my options are a bit limited.
What I'd like to do is simply backup the phone. I'm thinking that with flashboot, fastboot, usb debugging and an unlocked boot loader I must be able to do something, but I've hit a creating brick wall!
Any ideas? As I say, I just want to back it up. (Before repair.)
EDIT: IGNORE! OK, I'm a numpty! I needed to start the phone with the OTG cable already plugged in. When I did that, the mouse worked and I was able to unlock the phone. Job done!
this was actually usefull, with xperia z3 it works right away, but with Z5 i had to restart the phone with the otg cable on. i had to use the yellow reset button on the side next to the card slots, cause it seems impossible to shut down the phone otherwise...

I rooted my phone successfully, then I wanted to unroot and before flashing factory from I enable bootloader and now the phone screen is
Security error: This phone has been flashed with unauthorized software & is locked. Call your mobile operator...
And at the top of the screen, there is
Only official released binaries are allowed to be flashed : vbmeta
I try to enter in download mode volume + volume - USB cable and nothing.
I can't exit this screen to flash factory rom.
Any idea how to exit the screen?

Make sure yu force reboot your phone then swith to download mode fast to enable download mode
Fixed, needed to move the USB cable to the PC from USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 and it worked, I was able to switch to download mode.
