MY S22 ULTRA, 5 months old, began 48 hours ago to show the background of the lock screen (active display with a black background, in a very oscillating dark green color.
It only happens when the active display is activated, and sometimes inside with a dark background when it tries to adapt the brightness to the environment, it occurs as a kind of almost imperceptible flickering.
Internally the navigation, videos, photos and others are all perfect.
Things I have already tried:
Wipe Cache
Toggle between all screen resolutions and display options etc etc
With the mobile turned off while charging, if I press the power button to see the percentage of charge, that green is also seen.
I was reading that it may be a screen failure, but I still refuse to leave the phone in repair (150GB of internal information already copied), I don't know whether to wait for an update or what else to try.
Any suggestion?
Sorry for my english
I don't have answers for your issue, but I had exactly the same issue. I damaged my screen and it started appearing right after the damage to the screen. I don't use AOD, but mine did the same thing when it was put on charge.... no black screen, just the weird green. I turned off adaptive display and it disappeared. Had 2 updates since then and put back adaptive display and now the green is still gone. Not sure if was an update or the adaptive display change that fixed the issue

No, only official android updates, last 1ยบ august
I had that problem in my note 8, had to send it to warranty to replace the display circuit and the display because of burn in pixels.

Can it get worse or will it always stay like this?
I just replaced the screen protector and it's still the same sometimes, not always, it seems to improve things but it only appears if I force the situation with dark environments.
How do you explain if it was a screen problem, within the android there is no display problem in photos, videos etc etc
It only affects the active display and while the adaptive display is active, that's why I don't want to send it to warranty so soon, I even hope that with Android 13 it will be solved!
To those who had to change the screen, did it come under warranty and the fault has been recognized without having to pay anything?
Obviously, if it were the screen, it would have to be some sensor or sector of the screen that only acts under certain conditions and I don't know at the hardware level what it could be, if any sensor or sector of the screen is internally damaged, it is very strange.
Thanks for answering.

It was everything free, they replace the display circuit controler, the display and battery (mandatory on note 8 if you replace the display they replace also the battery).
The problem was stable, no true black, allways greenish, sometimes flick and turned true black for couple of seconds and returned to that greenish black. Was horrible, my luck was i had 24 months of warrany and this happend on my 22th month!
Hi, I have same problem for 2 weeks now. Seems to occur when in low light placed and adaptive brightness is on. Did you find solution?

is there any way at all to disable the screen from dimming on backgrounds with too much white? i think its ridiculous that they built this functionality into the phone without an option to turn it off, is there anyway to tweak the registry? i got the phone because of the screen but if i cant enjoy bright backgrounds n what not theres not much point
There is a option for that. "Screen brightness", switch from Auto to Low/Med/High
no thats not the issue, i have it on high with auto off, yet it still dims when theres too many white pixels on the screen, apparently its built into the samsung driver for the screen, really considering returning it due to this

I immediately noticed this effect when testing an Omnia 7 in a mobile phone shop here in Switzerland and I found that quite annoying.
Try moving from page to page in the Office app. You'll notice a decrease in screen brightness when more white pixels are shown. At least that seems to be how the built-in algorithm works.
I prefer the 4.3" screen of the HTC HD7.
Recently my screen has started developing strange shadows of apps that i use for longer time, like browsers, keyboard etc.
Even youtube after using for more than an hour or so give shadows on screen.
The issue is more persistent with the keyboard, as i am a heavy internet user (7-8 hrs online) and most of the time keyboard stays on the screen, the screen is showing me a persistent shadow of keyboard, initially just after using it for more than an hour the shadow is very clear and it stays even in the brightest apps and screens , later after sometime it starts to fade but never really goes away, its there always faintly.
What should I do?
Attached screenshots but i don't know if you guys can see them or not.
Edit : its on the screen (hardware)as screenshots don't have shadows, don't know if my screen is faulty
Screenshots are no good, take a picture of the physical phone screen instead.
Screen Burn-in Tool could help, it's designed for AMOLED, but it might end up having the same effect, and there should be no risk (except maybe some wasted time ).

Thanks but i think its better to get the screen replaced because the burn-in tool is a temporary solution, it again comes up after few hours and usually goes away in the morning as i don't use phone at night..
Also screen flickering is visible on very close inspection of some dark screens and checkered wallpapers
Yesterday i noticed something strange in my OP7p and i'd like you to check whether something like this occurs in your phones. Issue, which i will describe occurs only when i have 90hz refresh rate set and the low brightness of the screen with the auto adjustment of brightness turned off. The easiest way to see that is on youtube application with a dark theme. When we start a movie on the full screen (horizontally) and watch it for a few seconds, then go back to the vertical position, there is something like weak but visible blink of the screen, or a minimal colours change. It can be noticed in other apps, e.g. on facebook. Seems to me this is a software problem, beacause the same phenomenon doesn't exists when we set 60hz refresh. I would be very grateful if you can check it on your phones and give me a know about it.
I don't usually start videos in full screen mode and never noticed it but yeah definitely does a white flicker.
This is the highest brightness I could get it to do the flicker at.
Thank you for an answer. Personally i am able to see this flicker on a little bit higher screen brightness, but maybe its because im sitting in a dark room now. I was worried cause sometimes i see it during the normal usage of phone, and if only my OnePlus would be affected by this flickering i could still return it or exchange for a new one. It isnt very disturbing however interesting is whats cause of it.

this is usual for EVERY Oled screen and is called jelly effect...
You might want to try the DC dimming option in Settings->Utilities->OnePlus Laboratory.

From what i know jelly effect appears while we scrolling some content and propably that's not what i meant in my first post. Also flicker in my case is only visible on 90hz refresh rate.
I have galaxy s7e as a second phone and that effect doesn't happen there.

Am facing this from one ui2.5 wherever i turn off aod and unlock the phone display goes to the Yellow but if aod is on then everything is fine no problem but i need to turn off AOD for better battery please help me guys
I did factory and hard factory reset.
i don't think its a hardware issue am heavy user with aod turn on i can use it whole without any problem no display issue ...
Hey,
I wish I came across this post months ago. Damn, I wasted so many weeks searching for the issue.
Anyway, I agree with ya mate, I keep my aod off as well. Just that during my debugging today I found out the culprit and ended up choosing to keep "tap to show for 10 seconds" as a workaround for now..
Basically, my aod is always off until I need to unlock my phone without yellow tint. Then I just tap on the screen once to show aod and unlock it.
You should post this aod & yellow screen connection in Samsung forums. People are still blaming Google book's night light and adding random codes in their phone app to solve this (I know I did XD).
I changed the whole display (they changed whole front with new frame speakers sensor and finger print) sir it costs me 10k inr (6 months of Warrenty)
Hello, after several years with my mi mix 3, I unfortunately dropped the latter several times and the last one got the better of its screen. So I no longer have any display on it after having had a few color spots.
Having searched for some screen replacement videos on youtube it turns out that changing the screen seems easier than on many other phones. So I decided to order an oled screen to replace mine as well as the accessories needed to disassemble and re-glue it.
Following a longer than expected delivery time, I therefore have a little more time to find information concerning this screen change.
By doing further research on the forum I found that some are faced with a bootloop problem after performing the screen change.
Could you (for those who have carried out this repair) confirm that this is not always the case?
Indeed today I have no display on my phone and it is therefore impossible for me to make a backup of my data (not to mention that I would especially like to completely recover the configuration of the phone once the repair has been carried out) .
Thank you in advance for your feedback on this repair. Is the bootloop of the phone after repair a compulsory passage?
Irecived my screen today an replace it without problem (minor scratch to hold the screen in the begining)
No bootloop problem for me, the phone restart like it was when my screen scratch, but I notice the screen have not the same calibration than the original one, try many settings on miui (not many setting for this) and can't really have the same screen color calibration, the dolor was punchy and contrast is not good (many dark field on black and gray....)
is someone here know an app that can have more option than miui parameters to adjust contrast, brightness and colors??
I come to you today because after changing the screen of my xiaomi mi mix 3 phone (under miui 12) I have a problem with the display....
indeed despite having been in the display settings in order to calibrate this one as well as possible, my screen is always extremely bright (even at minimum) and the contrast seems to be very poorly adjusted (dark scenes lose a lot of detail)
What means would I have to allow myself to adjust the brightness and the contrast more finely (the adjustments allowed in the parameters being quite insufficient)?
