Dear all, I'm wondering if anyone has the same problem that I have been facing since I got my S22 Ultra. The checkbox is always invisible after I selected something, and it affects every UI where there are checkboxes. This affects both the light and dark themes. Anyone has a solution?
That's File Manager?
They are actually selected though, right?
Does it happen in safe mode?
Try clearing the system cache.

Yes that's file manage. It doesn't matter the app though, it happens in every app that allows selecting multiple items through the checkbox (e.g., Gallery). I just tried it in Safe mode and it's the same. Yes, the files are selected, but without the indication, it is kind of difficult to see what has been selected in some of the apps.

Something is screwy with the UI.
Was it always like this?
Did a third app start this?
Try clearing the system cache... it clears up all manner of bizarre behavior sometimes.
Try clearing the One UI Home and the Samsung Experience cache. Clearing the data will lose a lot of settings.

From what I remember the UI has been like this since I received the phone. I thought it was just some bug that would go away with software patches but it has been there for the last 6 months.

Boot menu.
It's possible the rom is corrupted. If your near a Best Buy that has a Samsung Experience center you can have them look at it. The can reflash the stock rom if needed. A factory reset might fix it but don't count on it. Unless a 3rd party app did it a factory reset is probably a waste of time.

Thank you so much for your help. I have wiped the cache partition to no avail. I guess I will have to bring this down to a Samsung centre to check it out.

I've got the same issue and no solution as yet. I think this started a month or so ago and only affect Samsung apps as the check box appears in others. Actually, the check briefly shows in Samsung apps too but then disappears only leaving dark background. I've got used to it. I suspect, in my case, a combination of changes I made to phone including good lock modules

Genius!
Maybe it's an issue related to a theme you have applied.
Try to apply the default theme and check if the issue still persist.

I have it on 0.5x all these time. When I set it to 1x, it does get a little funky. Some apps seems to be ok while others seems to be screwy.
I set the animation to off and it completely resolved the problem!! Thanks so much!!

True; not all themes will be compatible. Same applies to icon packs. They usually run ok but you need to sample them first. I've run the one default theme for years with a custom icon pack and wallpaper.

Insightful. Good save
Developer options can cause mischief. If you're using them you need to bear that in mind. Normally turning off all Developer options then enabling them again clears errors.
Thanks for that reminder too; normally they work so well you forget you're using them.

Hi all,
I'm totally stuck with this one, I'm using NovaLauncher as my default home app, at least i want to, but it keeps getting reset / reverted to the Huawei Home app no matter what i seem to do whenever i reboot the phone and nobody seems to have an soloution, that i can find anyway.
I've changed default app (apps > settings > default app settings > launcher) and (default app settings > special access > write system settings) switching NovaLauncher to Yes / Huawei Home to No. I've also tried "Aggressive Desktop" in NovaLauncher Settings > Advanced, none of which solve it.
I've read before that having Bluetooth enabled can cause this, mine just happens whenever i reboot, it's EXTREMELY annoying. I've only noticed this problem after i had a few OTA updates. I'm currently on the latest update it's giving me which is BLN-L21C432B377.
Really hoping somebody has a method to fix this, it's drivin me crazy
Thanks!
Strange. I am on EMUI 8 and no such problems. Maybe try reinstalling the app?

FWIW, I'm having the same issue. I feel like it started with the August (July?) security update. I haven't tried a reinstall of Nova because I'd rather have to take 1 minute to set Nova as default with every time I reboot vs. take the time big hit to get all my other preferences (desktop, icons, etc) sorted following a remove/reinstall of Nova. But yes, it's driving me crazy, too.

Well bugger me sideways lol, sometimes you end up doing all the more complicated things and neglect the most obvious! I reinstalled Nova Launcher and everything has been fine since, rebooting etc, working like it should, cheers Mannan :good:
Hey hereusethis try reinstalling too and yeah i'm sure it started happening around the same time frame for me too! Don't worry it's painless, in the Nova Launcher Settings scroll right to the bottom you'll see Backup & Import Settings. Make a backup there, uninstall the app / reinstall and go back down to Backup but this time choose Import, all your settings etc will come straight back
So far so good, hope it sticks, like i said though it always reset the launcher after rebooting the phone, hasn't done that and i rebooted plenty to test it. Thanks again :good:
Glad to help.
My note 20 ultra is having an issue where certain times when I go back to home screen, the app I was on leaves a ghost image on the screen. Only way to seem to get rid of it is to reboot device. Have to do this once a day. Tried with Nova and One UI but no dice fixing without reboot.

Did you set your phone up from scratch or did you transfer data from another phone. If you transferred from another phone there's been numerous post here about bugs and they were fixed with a FDR.
From the boot menu clear the Sytem Cache... this cures many glitches.
Find the app doing it and clear its cache and data if need be.
If that's the only issue with that load and nothing gets it done, disable the pop up notifications/overlay permissions for that app. Not sure how it's displayed in settings on Q.

Could the MS apks be the root cause?
I don't use any of the MS apks, in fact they're all blocked.
If you do a hard reset and it comes back, you'll have gained nothing. Most times it's a settings issue or a misbehaving 3rd party app.
Have had the most trouble with 3rd party launchers. Best to avoid them as they can goof up a lot including boot up.
>Keep playing with it< and try some Google searches as others will many times have the same issues.
Try package blocking suspect apks and see if that ferrets it out. Use Device Manager to see what apps are loaded in the memory cache when it goes nuts.
I've used this to track down a nasty one, once I cleared the data on the right system apk all was good.
Best of all if it happens again, I know what to do.
A last resort before a hard reset is to do a setting reset however this is a global settings nuke.
Again, clear the system cache and then suspected apk caches however sometimes you'll need to clear their data as well. PD MDM is a better option to clear apk caches/data in as it leaves no nulls or something that clearing the same in settings DOES.
Sounds skewy but been there, done that.

Back up everything to Samsung cloud and do a FDR. If that doesn't fix the issue just restore and you're right back where you were.
There have been several reports of bugs on this forum and they were mostly due to restoring data from another phone.

3rd party launchers can put you in boot loop hell.
Had it happen twice in 2 weeks.
Was thinking it might be another app but on the 3rd reload I stayed with 1 UI...
2 months later still stable as a rock.
If a launcher is acting even a little slow or twitchy... ditch it.

I don't like the bloody white icon labels...
1 UI is fast and the most stable. After seeing all manner of screw ups on 3rd pretty launchers and 2 back to back reloads... done.
Got rid of most of the bloody white except the page indicator. Samsung morons... even with only a home page it still shows, jeeeeezse!
Nothing in the Good Lock apps to remove them either.
Grrrrrrr....
This problem has been going on for about a week. I have 5 folders on my home screen and the apps in one folder keep getting rearranged. I'll fix it and then after a few hours if changes again.
Additionally the bottom part of the homescreen with the default apps (these aren't in a folder) gets rearranged too.
Not sure why this is happening. Has anyone encountered this? Is there a fix for this?
Thanks!
I just reported a similar problem with the default icons rearranging themselves at the bottom of the home screen to Samsung support. This is despite the fact that I have the Home Screen layout locked in Settings. I thought that it might have something to do with the use of the Good Lock Home Screen app. Are you using this app too by any chance?
Did you lock home screen layout?
The only way the folder content should alter if this is enabled is if you package block an app in that folder.
Clear system cache.
Yes, I have my home screen locked. I have several folders on my home screen, but I haven’t noticed if the icons in these folders are also getting rearranged. Are you using the Good Lock Home Up app? I read somewhere that this can cause this problem with icon arrangement.

I have a lot of things blocked, can't for the life of me think of which one it is haha. I'll check with the locked homescreen and see if that works, if not I'll have to turn on each thing one by one, and test, which will take forever because its' totally random when it gets rearranged.

Starting with Android 10 Samsung added dozens, maybe a hundred or more small system apks to modify that wretched OS's behavior so One UI be functional as before.
I have two N10+'s, one running on 9, the other 10.
My package disable list for the 10 version is nearly identical to the 9 in spite nearly having 100 more new Samsung system apps. I ignored these new system apks as they don't seem to impact performance. Most likely are needed.
I recommend not touching these as erratic behavior may occur.
Sound familiar?
Go after apps that are known to cause trouble ie excess battery/internet usage and leave the rest alone. Dependencies... some are obvious, some maybe not so much so. Take a more cautious approach.
Many of the Samsung system apps just sit there and do nothing unless needed.

Not sure, I'll have to wait and see. As I said, it's totally random and sometimes only changes after 24 hours. I'll report back. Naw, doesn't happen when I close and reopen the folder. Seemingly random. It was originally the folder, now it's those default apps on the bottom of the homescreen.

You might be able to get some clues using Device Care>memory and seeing what apps just cache when it happens.
Or see if clearing it has any effect. Then see what apps pop up. You get the idea.
If you got more than 100 packages disabled you might want to rethink it down to about 80 or so.
Only ones you know aren't needed.
Thanks man, looks like the problem has bene resolved with a screen lock. I will take a look into your suggestions though, as I've never had to lock the screen before to prevent apps from reorganizing themselves within a folder or a dock.

Which settings?
Clear system cache.
It may be a system or 3rd party app that has permission to change system setting. If so find it and deal with it directly. Clear it's data or revoke permissions although that could cause other side effects.
Try clearing Google play Services data, a prime offender...
There's also the possibility of malware as this is abnormal behavior. Find the cause or do a factory reset. Be careful what you install and download...
Two settings that have done this. First is the display which reverts down to 20 seconds and the other is the bluetooth. The display is the worst one especially when I am on a business call and I need the screen on for the keyboard usage.

You need to track down the app responsible.
First try clearing the system cache from the boot menu. It will cause no harm and can fix all manner of erratic behaviors. I do it about once a month (or if needed) as part of routine maintenance.

It happens when I shut the app down or reboot and I find that the phone is not doing what I set for the app. I open the app to check the settings and it has all been erased like new. If I keep the app open it runs all the settings correctly and saves them but as soon as I close the app or reboot it some of those apps default like it is a brand new app. Any thoughts?

No that doesn't appear to be that either. I checked all the apps that seem to be having this problem. Unfortunately that isn't it either. Thank you for the suggestion! IDK if a reflash without wiping would help?
I have never seen this or experienced it. Have you done "something" different? Tried to root, or install a ROM, or...???? If it keeps happening EVEN to native/default/system apps then I would recommend a factory reset with a low level cache wipe...if it can be done on this phone.

I would go for the reflash, and in the end, go for a clean flash.
I didn't experience this problem, but I did have an issue where every time I set a conversation as a priority, the second I left that screen, it reset back to default. I don't have the issue now, but I've also reflashed since then.
I have fixed it by wiping the affected apps data and then uninstalling them and readding the settings. Thanks guys!
