hello all,
as part of you just know Huawei has disabled option to set third party launcher on chinese variants of phones.
Just now if you install another launcher you don't have enabled the option to switch "HOME" stock launcher to another one because you only see their laucher option there.
Both ADB commands to disable or uninstall stock HOME are disabled here.
Do we have any trick to bypass this idiot limitation ?
Just using Huawei MATE XS 2 ( PAL-AL00 ) with HarmonyOS 2.0.1 here
Harmony OS has been developed by taking Android as a reference, however it is not dependent on Android, hence it does not recognize its methods and functionalities.

Emui on chinese devices are the same.
This is a limitation only on chinese variants.
Try to find a solution for that

Try switching the launcher from System Launcher to Huawei Home although not 100% sure this will work since we aren't living in China
Much appericated for your prompt response.

If that's the case I suppose it won't work. I picked up this phone (from China) and got rid of almost all of the apps that were installed by default. I can't see a reason I would want a Huawei ID....

The best way would be waiting for HUAWEI to release a stock Englist ROM and flash that...
All the chinese variants comes with preloaded chinese apps, I think you should be able to uninstall them easily from Settings > Apps. I never really tried a chinese ROM, so don't know if they are uninstallable, but most of us gets bloats in our /cust partition, from which we can uninstall them.

Some of the default apps can be uninstalled, but I am hoping that at some point there is an English version of the rom for FRD-AL10 released.

Yes, maybe, if some dev makes it.
I get the same Huawei ID location error on Europe Honor 7. I don't think its anything to do with the rom being Chinese.

There is a EU rom here for FRD-L09.

Thanks for this. I downloaded it, but I will wait to hear if someone else has flashed it on a FRD-AL10 first! Right now the phone is too new and I don't want to risk bricking it.
EU ROMs works on EU variants only, don't try it on Chinese variant, unless you debrand it.

Download this official Oreo Stable and flash it using MI Flashtool.
Then use this to root and Magisk

Here you go, simple install
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/development/tool-aosp-8-0-ql1515-dec-8-2017-t3722184
It has been pull out officially due to bugs.
The tool recommended is working okay and I am grateful for the work, but you cannot lock the bootloader without issues after using it. Therefore I agree with the recommendation of @RAJEEV And would also highly recommend to use either the MiFlash tool or one of the by Xiaomi provided scripts for flashing.
More information can also be found here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a1/how-to/ota-official-fastboot-image-n2g47h-7-12-t3728929

So, OpenKirin already supports a handful of phones equipped with Kirin 659, is possible that in the future our MediaPad T5 will be added to the compatible devices? There's any interest in this device by the team?

It's just an academy question
There is no doubt in the fact that unlocking the bootloader is the first step needed to flash Custom ROM. As far I know, there is no way to get unlocking code for MediaPad T5.
Well, I read in this forum that unlock the bootloader is possible with the "BLK method", but this requires opening the device and pay a third-party for the code.
I honestly have no idea about what this BLK actually is or why you need to open the back of the tablet.

Because you need disconnect the battery and short test point. You also need two things to flash with testpoint - Board firmware ("DC-Phoenix" or "easyfirmware.com" - paid services) and Huawei flash tools "IDT" .
Unfortunately, Board firmware for MediaPad T5 is not available (not supported device).
So it's just an academic question again

My fault, I didn't enough research on it. Thanks for all the infos!

Now that unlocking bootloader is easy, does anyone installed openkirin?
Any feedback?
Thanks!

It is not officially supported, however, since it is a kirin 659 with emiui 8 openkirin team says it should work.
I've tried a couple of their builds, and only lineageOS16 seems to be booting among those.
It's working well, just disable HW overlays in the dev options to get rid of the annoying blur and it's all good.

there is this thread describing the experience:
- camera does not work
- some problems with Netflix DRM
* must install an older version + some system mod
* (haven't tried it) use third party app like Kodi with Netflix addon?
- must install custom Audio EQ app and disable the included AudioFX
- some 5GHz channels might not work ( must use channel 44 for example)
....
Hi Guys, are there any version of a degoogled rom for our HV10? (latest version possibile, 11 or 12).
I really like to use it without gapps package
thanks a lot!
I don't think any de-googled rom is available. Honor after restricting the bootloader unlock killed all the development for this device.
You can try removing Google apps via debloating using ADB

I agree with you, unfortunately this device is not only old but hard to unlock (I used DC an paid for this :\ ) and this make the HV10 a scrap ... for me it's a shame, because I found this a great device now that's running an ASOP
anyway, thank for your answer
Hello everyone, my friend has this phone (Honor magic V and I would love to know if is it possible to port a rom from another phone with the same soc to this one, I once have ported rom from Mediatek to another Mediatek device but I have never tried porting on Snapdragon based device, can someone please enlighten me?
The main reason for this is to get Google services working on this device as I have searched everywhere for the way to install Google apps to no avail
Anyone?
To the best of my knowledge, it's not possible to install Google Play Services on that phone.

I have honor magic vs (chinese version sadly) its still on android 12 magic os 7 and cant install play store but for sure global rom(magic os 7.1 ) has gms integration possible. Now the problem is if chinese devices will get an update based on removal of global restrictions or not. chinese people don't use google for obvious reasons.
ping me if you have any update. I am also trying my seller to get international rom for mine.

I will, but I am losing hope as no one is willing to guide me on how it's done (the porting stuff) on snapdragon based soc, I have been doing it on mediatek but I am totally new to this snapdragon world
