Hello everyone!
I purchased Xiaomi 12S ultra 12GB 512GB variant from Giztop and it came with google apps preinstalled and with english language. All the other apps from my google play store library work fine except all banking apps. They can't seem to properly detect my sim card somehow.
Sim card detection works fine on apps like whatsapp or other apps that read verification code automatically.
In attached screenshot above, I have tried to verify my sim 1 number in one of the app but it has always failed. I can't figure out why this is happening.
Another issue I am facing is my Whatsapp contacts revert to unsaved phone numbers automatically and I have to manually refresh my contacts to restore them.
Could this be due to some configuration I haven't done in phone's setting? Will flashing with EU ROM fix this issue for certain?
Please suggest me anything you can think of regarding this issue.
You may need to change permission settings in app info, because MIUI doesn't allow 3rd party app to read phone number written in SIM card in default.
Settings->Apps->Manage apps->Your banking app->Permissions->Get device info->Always allow
It seems in addition to this, my phone was sending messages from sim #2 for verifying sim #1 for unknown reason. I didn't see any option to set default sim to send message (default sim for call and data is set in settings but no default for messaging) and that was the reason for my 6-8 hours of pulling my hairs out..
I had to take out sim #2 from phone, then the outgoing message number matched with number on sim.. and I got it to work. This seemed like one of the silliest mistakes after I noticed all the outgoing messages were from sim #2. I noticed when I tried sending myself message to see if I have balance to send messages.
What I tried:
1) giving the app permissions for read and send message, read service message, get device info
2) withdrawing the consent for MIUI Security app, clearing data / force stopping
3) reset mobile data, bluetooth and wifi network in settings for each sim card
4) factory reset my phone
What worked:
take out the other sim, and try with only single sim in the phone.. worked for me.

Did it work with Indian sim cards? Any issue so far and did you flash custom rom like Indian version or it still have CN version? Camera better than 11 ultra or not?

Camera is truly impressive (see detailed reviews and comparisons on youtube). It works fine with Airtel/JIO after above mentioned changes. I would suggest wait for 13 Ultra to launch globally. They have made minor upgrades that may interest you.

Could you please help me solve this problem?
The icon on your tablet in the right corner shows: There is no card inserted.

There is a Windows application for smartphones that can change the IMEI number, MTK DroidTools, but I'm not sure that it also works for this type of tablets.

It doesn't work, 'cause Ampe A10 3G or Sanei N10 3G has a different chipset.

In the meantime I managed to get my 3G working by a simple hard Reset. There is no need even for PP widget, it works out of the box, after setting the APN parameters.

Hi there, can I check whether you are having the Ampe A10 dual core 3G version? If yes, I would like to know which country you are based and whether your operator checks on the IMEI?
I have a connection issue with my Sanei N10 3G (similar to Ampe A10 3G). I am able to make calls but I cannot seems to get a 3G connection. If possible, can you let me know the process that you took (step by step, cos I am a noob) and what APN parameters that you had applied.
I have been scratching my head over this problem for the past few days. Your help will be truly appreciated. Thanks

Hi!
I'm from Hungary, and I don't know whether my operator checks the IMEI or not. I don't even know my IMEI number.
I have rooted the tablet, then inserted my 3G SIM card. After the card was detected, I went into Settings, done the automatic detection of my Mobile network, then properly set the APN (you have to ask for the exact details from your telco). You have to set especially the APN, MCC (mine is 216) and MNC (mine is 30).

Sanei N10 3G did not recognise SIM Card
Dear Friends, I have a new Sanei N10 3G version, it worked well the first 3days with the built in 3g SIM, all of a sudden, it stopped recognizing the SIM Card. I have inserted several other SIM Cards but still did not work. I tried to reset to factory default and still did not work. i found two IMEI Number listed, the first shows numbers, while the other displayed just "00". I have tried all I could to reset it but cant fix it.
Please, help me, as 3G is the only option I have to connect to internet, because Wifi is not a common thing here in Nigeria.
thanks...
I also have one Ampe a10 dual 3g, and it's loosing SIM connection or whatever. I've tried any reset combination and afterall it was always the same. My tablet has guarantee which means its probably somewhere on a ship to China.
I have two of them bought at the same time and one is working well (FW is few numbers lower) and second as I mentioned (newer FW).

Hello!
I have been experiencing a similar problem with my Ampe A10 dual core...I tried to hard reset as you mentioned, pushed a needle into the slot for 10-20seconds, but it did not help!
The date and other things of the tablet got reset, but it still fails to detect the sim card!!
Is this a software issue or a hardware issue?
Had the same problem, turned out the origin was hardware.
When I opened up the tablet, the connectors of the SIM were unsoldered. I fixed it by glueing the SIM card enveloppe to the material under it.
Hope it helps

There's no option to either show or edit the number there.
AFAIK, there's not any way to edit it supplied within stock android and it would need to be a third party app.

I'm on a KK ROM so meh guess it's added in. I don't think it actually makes a difference if it shows up or not in Settings > About Phone > Status > Number, though.
It does for a few random things. In my case, I have a Femtocell (signal booster) that will only work with my number, which exchanges sim data on handshake. Without the number being correct, it won't work.
There's also reports of some mobile banking apps that call the number from the sim.
I assume your on some form of cm ROM? They have the ability to write, but stock doesn't.
I can't be arsed to flash a different ROM just to change it, loving Android L too much!

Dunno then, I guess try and look for some sort of root application for it.
And I'm on my own ROM.
All the old applications that used to do this no longer work. Maybe there is a xposed module? If not, you'll have to flash a custom ROM temporarily.

We're talking about writing the phone number to the SIM card

Modern phones can't write it. Some older Nokia phones can do it. Had the same issue, solved it by putting my SIM to very old Nokia phone (don't remember which) and writing it from options in Phone book.
Dont know about Hangouts, but in regular SMS APP in older android version, when I set up my SIM phone no then my photo showed up in my sent messages automaticaly.

Yes they can. The only issue is Google do not build this function into their AOSP code. Many custom ROMs have this feature though in dialer > settings > additional settings

this module worked for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/themes-apps/app-sim-changer-change-registered-sim-t2106490
but I don't think it is the method asked for here as for app @rootSU is right It works on android testkey signatures 3-party ROM only
if you have to keep(?) L installed the solution I guess would be to use another device with the appropriate setup to write number on sim...
Thanks for everyone's input. I ended up just flashing cm and changing the number, then flashed back.
Irritatingly, the reason I did this was to get my femtocell to work, and it still doesn't!

I would have been surprised if that fixed it. That number is not transmitted. Its only visible as a text field in the OS. Its not used for anything. Android uses it for "my number" and that's about it.

More info.
The method involves flashing a custom cust.img. Or replace codes in local.prop.
Then sim1 and sim2 can be switched on an interface that any 1 use 4/3/2G the other stay with 2G.
Does not release more frequencies to any sim.
Does not support both sims on 3/4G. 1 must at 2G.
Update: did NOT work for me. I am on 2.3. Maybe need 3.0 to make it work.
yeah,it works,nice feature.

power off the phone, enter fastboot mode (while holding volume down insert usb cable and wait till fastboot screen appears), flash cust.img from link provided hereinafter using fastboot.exe and restart the phone.
all flashing at your own risk. original thread states it is for b310 and factory resets should be done before and after flashing. I did not do any resets, also I am not on b310 and it works w/o problem

Activate 4G on second sim without flashing cust.img
Important update on this hack !!!
I don`t know much about programming, but this is what I did to activate this option WITHOUT flashing the cust.img provided.
I edited local.prop and added the following lines at the end:
Code:
ro.config.dsda_single_rild=false
ro.hw_sglte_shareantenna=true
ro.lte_gsm_shareantenna=true
persist.radio.svlte_psshock=600,4,1200
persist.sys.dualcards=true
ro.config.hw_dts=true
ro.config.hw_nxp_eeapi=true
hw.npm.asyncntp=true
ro.config.distinguish_hspa=false
ro.config.hw_mirror_chip_v9r1=6
As I said, I don`t know much about hacking, maybe I added some extra lines, but those lines seemed related.
I also copied the file SUPLConfigParams.xml from the above cust.img because it had some LTE, GSM parameters modified. I have added this file to the post.
I confirm that the dual-active function is working.
So , for those with more experience about this, please update the above experience and tell us if there is something we should leave out.
maybe 2 line of codes are resposible
In a post many peaple experimented to change 2 line of codes to activate 4G on sim2. They succeeded.
http://bbs.anzhi.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=9563906&fromuid=25626505
in cust\unicomelectric\cn\prop\local.prop
Code:
ro.modem.type=6260
persist.sys.dualcards=true
It did not work for me because I am on 2.3. Has to be EMUI3.0.
@mihaipi one code in your lines. Are you on 2.3 or 3.0?
@Zentachi you can try.
.
@soma, I read that chinese thread. do u understand it that both card should be able to have 3g/4g in same time or one will always be 2g? than it would be just easier way of switching 3g/4g from sim1 to sim2 and vice versa compared to flashing cust.img...

Thanks guys, this is indeed very interesting for many users, ie. those travelling often and needing to swap the cards physically often for having 3G connectivity. I can't see why on earth the option isn't built-in in the settings, if it's possible to swap hardware-wise..
I assume root is required for editing those lines. And then simply search that file and edit those lines. Is that it?

This is a very essential option for people travelling abroad or people who needs to switch off one sim at times (typicallly people who use one sim for work).
I really don't understand why it's not built-in, I am let down by Huawei.

same effect. Only one sim can use 4/3G, another keep 2G. Advantage is that you can switch 2 sims via the interface. Otherwise one need to switch phone off, switch sim cards in 2 slots, turn phone on. kind of burden.

Flight mode and then switch the card then flight mode off, so no need of switching phone off completely. But still it's something you'd rather avoid, especially when the hardware is made for it and Huawei left the option out.. Cause that Sim slot cover looks like going to tear apart..

What's the point in having 2 sim working in 4G at the same time if you can only use data from one sim at time?!?
Hi,
I am using Freedom Mobile in Canada and bought the Sony XPERIA 5 III 5G XQ-BQ72. This is a taiwanese dual sim.
The basic services work but the enhanced services don't. I checked before hand and knew that to be the case but having read forums I thought I might be able to get it working.
First I tried @Gigio755 advice here https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/xq-at52-volte-or-wifi-calling-in-canada.4128611/
Where you dial dial *#*#4636#*#* and switch Vowifi on. But the thing is greyed out
Next I tried was @BSPI advice here
https://www.reddit.com/r/freedommobile/comments/bg5x3c
That's where you text *#243203855# then choose GLW, but I get MMI error.
I've also tried @f1v12 advice here
https://www.reddit.com/r/galaxys10/comments/dbf1lj
Where you text #272<your phone's imei number># but also get MMI error
To fix the MMI error I tried following https://www.technobezz.com/fix-connection-problem-invalid-mmi-code/
These didn't work, but specifically I couldn't try method 3, Turn on IMS over SMS because my IMS is not registered
Following @sooki99 here
https://www.reddit.com/r/freedommobile/comments/c331l5
I tried to register an apn type ims, but got an error saying Freedom does not allow adding apn type IMS.
I've contacted tech support with Freedom, they said they registered my IMEI. They also said they don't need to provision my IMEI so I'm not sure what registering they did.
So, I'm wondering what the next thing to try is. Is there a way to fix the MMI error so I can at least send dial codes?
I was thinking of flashing the US firmware next, does anyone know if that works? I know I'd loose the dual sim support (on a side note, why is that?), but does anyone know if that would help?
I have also the problem with wifi calling feature with Israeli operator. The feature on the network side activated, and they checked it with the phone number. They told me they don't need IMEI for wifi calling, and if the phone supports it, the option should appear on the phone''s menu, but it doesn't appear.
I got the phone from UK, it's dual sim model XQ-BQ52
Any ideas?
Hi @dima_vy
First thing to try would be the firmware flashing. You can do this without rooting or boot unlocking.
Get xperifirm and newflasher. There's a few customizations for XQ-BQ52 you can try without messing up your phone. I have the XQ-BQ72, and when I tried the 52 firmwares, the phone works but the modem connects and disconnects continuously so I doubt you'll find a working solution from the 72's.
But...

it really looks like you need:
The phone having the necessary MBN files for the mobile carrier in question
The SIM having VoLTE provisioned by the carrier in question
It really seems you need Sony to include these files on their updates, which they are unlikely to do in countries they did not release the phone. BTW, if you ask Sony they will blame the carrier.
So, I think the next thing to try is with a root, following @astracd guide for the onplus 5: https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oneplus-5-5t-freedom-mobile-wind-wifi-calling-and-volte.880807/
You need to root, and try replacing the mbn files from the pixel 4 (assuming they have the israili customizatins). It's an older modem. but that doesn't seem to be a problem.

I couldn't get my superuser to work (so must not have been rooted properly), so I couldn't continue testing other mbn files. I'd love to hear if someone has success with this method though.

mbn file must be for the phone with same chipset.
Pixel 4 uses Qualcomm SM8150 Snapdragon 855 and Sony Xperia 5 III SM8350 Snapdragon 888. So pixel mbn file will not work with this phone.
OK, I see guys, thank you for advises. I don't see any Israeli versions on any other models... I will try to do more research.
PHHs AOSP GSI based ROMs will have a way to force VoLTE and WiFi Calls on any way. If You can live with AOSP, that will BE the easy way (possibly)
I read today about android 12 coming to Xperia 5 iii, may be it will fix the issue
I just checked again, and there is a global version for XQ-BQ52 with CID 23365115. Is there a way to check what firmware i have exactly installed?
Android 12 didn't fix VoWifi issue
Hi,
I've seen there's now a USA customization out. Does anyone know if that will work on Freedom in Canada?

Unlikely. Sony does not have Wi-Fi Calling on AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon.
They only had Wi-Fi Calling on the XZ1 Compact on T-Mobile. Literally just one phone on one network in all their history.
There is a version for global market for XQ-BQ52. May be this one will work?

Problems like this make it harder to consider future Xperia phones. I would happily buy the Xperia 1 IV but no volte means it's not worth buying

The main issue that in some time mobile operators will shut down the 3G networks, and phone without VoLte simply won't work...
Thats exactly

That's exactly the issue we face. I have the Xperia 1 II and flashed SEA firmware to get volte working but I don't think I will have the same success with Xperia 1 IV.
I would definitely buy the Xperia 1 IV if I know volte will work. It's an expensive phone and having no volte will make the phone useless once 3G network is shut which is imminent now

I have now Xperia 5 iii, and I'm not sure that there is any firmware that will allow me to use volte and vowifi in Israel. According to Sony, as they don't sell phones here, they won't provide firmware which will support these functions in Israel... Israeli ministry of communications allows operators to shut down 3g networks in 2025 I think. I expect this phone to work more. My previous Xperia x worked 4.5 years.
So I just hope that there will be a way to use Sony phones in the future
If the Xperia 1 IV doesn't have success I will get the Pixel 7 Pro as that is locally available which volte/ WiFi calling will work out of the box. However I prefer Xperia 1 IV but not going to pay for a phone with limited features. 3G network will start to shutdown this year for Australian network operators
Hi.
Today I ported all my things from P5 to P7Pro and I noticed a very annoying thing.
In every call, after a minute or two there beggins cracking/squealing, like it's a bad connection.
I updated the phone to the latest Android version (screen in att). I tried restarting, with another SIM but the same ...
No problem at all on my P5.
Anyone else facing that?
I'm really disappointed that this disables the basic use of the phone and I don't even know how to start reporting a bug considering I'm using the phone in an unsupported country. :/

Thanks for your help.
Strange one, not something I have nor read anyone else having. I'd suggest you have a faulty handset if you have tried another sim from another sim in it (presumably from another provider).

Do you have clear calling enabled? Not sure if it would make a difference, but I did see one or two people report that their connection was worse with it, although for most I think it's better. Not sure they reported crackling/squealing though.

I read about CC, but in my version there is no such option for now. Waiting for upgrade ...
Hello I have the same issue with Italian PosteMobile.
Where are you from?
It starts after 5 or 6 minutes in call.
Same phone but with other operator I have no problems.
Is your operator a virtual one? Full MNVO?

Hi!
Not so great for you and me, but great that I'm not the only one.
I'm from Slovenia.
Hm, strange, so something with operators u think? I'm on Telekom Slovenia, so biggest national operator ...
Idk but I know someone that works for my operator and they will try to understand what's the problem, in theory...
I'm also thinking opting in Beta Android to check if a newer rom fixes the issue.
If I have news I'll post here!

Hm, today I had zero issues up to now.
Yesterday in the evening I took out my primary SIM card, cleaned SIM slot with air pressure ...
I keep fingers crossed!
Same issue here but I only get it after exactly 20 minutes of calling. I'm using kpn Netherlands with a esim . I migrated from pixel 5 also with esim on same provider. I must note that after I disabled 2g calling from the settings that not all calls have the issue anymore.
Same problem here in Portugal after 15m in a call.
I must say that now after testing a couple of days with the 2g slider turned off, 90+% of the calls go without big audio issues. Only sometimes 1-5 seconds long distortion of some kind is left
Hello, problem still present after many updates and now on last beta.
Probably most of you solved it by switching to another operator, but I can't.
I opened an issue in Android Bug Report and discovered through logcat that there are some duplicate received frames.
If you suffer from the same issue I kindly ask you to post in this official issue link to let Android developers know that I'm not the only one with this problem!

Take a look to my answer number 6 to see the logcat :
On a Windows PowerShell:
adb logcat | find "F1:ERR"

If the problem remains unsolved I will sell my Pixel 7Pro, I can't work with this issue (and cannot change operator as it is the professional on that gave me my employer).
Thank you!
Same problem here
Hello, as of today nothing changed, just updated on beta 13 (T2B2.221216.008)
Annoying...
Same problem here!
After about 8 minutes of calling with Postemobile operator (Italy), the call starts croaking! More and more often I receive text messages from people who have looked for me, despite the fact that the phone was always under excellent signal. Postemobile still has VoLTE not enabled on Pixel7.
