Perhaps the drivers for the Xperia XA driver do not work well on your Windows, as it appears from the description that they are for Windows XP.

Quick question on rooting, fastboot and USB drivers

I want to root my HTC Magic very soon but I need help at the very beginning. I have the Android SDK R3 and USB drivers installed. My question is, does the device have to be "recognized" in fastboot mode? When I type in "adb devices" with the phone in normal operation, it returns the serial number just fine. In fastboot mode, I don't get it in the list of devices. Drivers are installed for both modes. (please see photos below). Is this normal?

Does: fastboot devices
.. show any devices?
Shows nothing at all. I took the first picture, then turned off the phone, fastbooted, then took the second picture. I blurred out part the serial number from the first "adb devices" command, but the second one I type is as it appears.
Does the command:
fastboot devices
.. show any devices while device is in Fastboot USB mode?
Ahhh... yes it does. It shows my device with the same serial number. So I'm good to go now?
Yes... boot the recovery rom now.
All the best.
Thanks xyzulu for your help, I'll give it a shot later tonight. Have to put my daughter to bed right now. Work before play I suppose.

stuck on flashtool ?
Flash tools method doesn't work for me aswell so i did it the official way
Install Flashmode, Fastboot, and Device drivers you can find flashmode and flashboot drivers inside the C:\Flashtool\drivers directory in your Windows pc by default as for your phone driver first install your Sony PC companion app and then connect your phone and wait and see if it installs the drivers, if not go to device manager in Windows and see if it says your phone is detected and then install manually if it is not something along the lines of "Sony ADB" name.

empty ADB device on CMD windows 10

hai guys, so i'm using windows 10 and trying to copy file using adb push to OPO via fastboot but the CMD not listing my OPO as i type "adb devices" during fastboot mode
I'm sure that i do a proper installation because my PC detect it during normal mode (MTP and USB debugging)
my device manager detect the adb interface (i'm using samsung driver as i follow driver manager guide on OPO toolkit 2.0 but i use v1.5.51 since it's newer than suggested by the guide)
here is what i got as i type "adb device"

I know this is not problem from the OPO but from the windows 10 but any of you facing same problem like me??
Last I checked adb shouldn't work in fastboot. It works while booted up and can also work while in recovery but fastboot mode is for fastboot commands so that should tell you where to attempt adb push. Use fastboot devices and you'll notice the device is listed while in that mode

Help me get boot.img for Sony Xperia Hello

Hi!
I would post this in the Sony subforum, but there is no section for Xperia Hello, so here I am...
Recently I got my hands on a Sony Xperia Hello, which is a weird robot which basically consists of an android phone with some peripherals bolted on top. It's running android 8.0. I managed to get the bootloader unlocked (with the Sony developer site), but I am now trying to get Magisk onto it and get root access. The reason I want root is because I would like to basically control the hardware parts of the robot through my own stuff - currently this is limited to a Sony app.
I've managed to download the stock firmware using XperiFirm and tried following this tutorial: https://www.droidwin.com/extract-sony-boot-sin-get-stock-boot-img-file/
Problem is that tutorial mentions using boot-xxx.sin file, but there is no file with a similar file name anywhere. This is the list of files in the extracted FW:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I've also found a tutorial saying to unsin the kernel.sin file using flashtool and then rename the extracted elf file to boot.img. But if I try to then boot this (using fastboot boot) it just throws "remote: Dtb not found" error.
So, what am I doing wrong/missing?
