Where is the device MAC address stored? - General Questions and Answers

I think I've accidently wiped a partition - maybe nvram - possibly through an overzealous use of SP Flash or mtkclient whilst trying to install a GSI ROM. However it happened, I now have no device MAC and a generic serial number. Can I manually recreate them? Either with a 'setprop' through adb or hex edit on a dumped/reloaded partition? I've dumped the nvram partition and it's all zeros, so I'm guessing it's the one I need to rebuild/recreate.
The device is a Lenovo M7 tablet, and I've restored it to stock with Lenovo's rescue tool - that didn't restore the device MAC, and I get that. It's working fine but it has a new device MAC address on every reboot. I think what is happening is the system software is giving out a random MAC because there is no device one. The serial number is no big deal, but I'd like a fixed MAC if possible.
Edit: Android 11 Go

Ok, bumping with a related question.
In which partition/image is the device MAC stored?
I'm only guessing it was in nvram.
(Btw, I tried a factory reset too but that didn't restore the device MAC either)

[Resolved] [Q] Huawei U8860: MAC address lost after reinstallation of file system

Hello,
after "debricking" my U8860 by copying a complete file system into the device,
I lost my IMEI, SN and MAC.
The IMEI and the SN has been restoreable - the MAC isn't.
Now, every reboot gives my device a NEW generic MAC (pattern: CC:BB:AA:so:me:no).
Help me, please...

My ip address and wifi mac address is constantly changing with every reboot. Help.

Hey guys,
So, I recently got my phone flashed due to some errors and now there's another problem with my mac id and ip id. It changes after every phone reboot or wifi on/off. I even tried resetting but it was all in vain. Consequently, I'm having a tough time connecting to my ISP, since it's bound to a specific mac address.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Try to downgrade your device software
I am pretty sure that your NVRAM partition is corrupted (this is where the MAC adress is stored). I haven't found yet a solution to fix this for our device...
Refer to this threadhttp://forum.xda-developers.com/sparkle-v/help/karbonn-sparkle-nvram-wi-fi-mac-imei-t3362687as the NVRAM is erased because you upgraded the firmware with the Format All + Download option that erased all of your mobile data.

Need clean NVRAM.bin from Vonino dual SIM smartphone or manual fix of IMEI MAC SN

Hello,
I need clean nvram.bin from Vonino dual SIM smartphone preferably with 4G support
I deleted by accident ID information of my vonino zun x and I need to restore - SN, IMEI1, IMEI2. WIFI MAC, BT MAC
I am asking for nvram.bin, because I have no idea how these IDs are stored on phone, but read that this info is inside nvram.bin
If someone knows how this info can be manually entered in phone ROM, by modifying files or engineering mode this will be best solution for me.
My phone is currently working because I entered IMEIs via terminal command in engineering mode, but if I reset phone this info is cleared and also SN. WIFI MAC and BT MAC are not restored
Please help!
Thank you in advance

NV partition gone

Hello , yes i erased the nv partition by a mistake , but, i still have the box with 2 dual sim IMEI and ither 2 codes on it, someone told me i can repair them but dont know how exactly. Should i use Maui meta or Sn writer tool? Do i need nv backup of another redmi 9 to do this? I remember many years ago i did it but i really cant remember how
The /NV partition not only holds the IMEI but other important data, too, such as SN, Baseband, product code, BT/WiFi mac address, RIL calibration files, DRM info and some other data like language, timezone set by your provider.

Ty for helping, can i ask you wich one of those Is foor Google authentication? I have SN , imeis and others, but seems like i cant use sn writer to writer those, my NV partiton Is erased, i tried to flash nvram and nvdata with no luck, tried with SPFT gives errors, tried via fastboot but there Is a protection and doesnt work.
Now i flashed twrp and installed magisk, i wonder how i can remove those protection that wont allow me flash those partitions.
Aniway only thing not working Is the signal ( but detects Sims) , and Google , seems like invalid Mac address too
IDK
what exactly does not work with SN Write Tool?
"It allows users to flash various options apart from flashing the IMEI only. It supports Barcode, BT Address, Wifi Address, Wifi EPPCopy, Mac Address, DRMkey MCID."
the funny thing is you did the same stupid mistake like years ago..
I get errore messages, seems like my PC fails to connect, i do t know if needs CDC drivers, but i cant Install them because my PC wont Install unsigned drivers even if i try to disable that with CMD, changing boot options, or tools to allow that, maybe because its a light, modded version of windows and Is missing many services and sruff, aniway i fixed It by using Maui Meta winth a ENG rom, second IMEI was ok but had still the dm Verity corrupted, then i installed Magisk and disabled Verity check teough Fastboot when flashing Vbmeta.
I still have invalid Mac no serials etc, but everything Is working indont really Need to write those, i can Remember using SN write tools before with another windows
, Will try when i change OS, thank you

Did you write Mac address?

I did not, i can ONLY use Maui Meta v 10, i dont understand HOW and if i can use the NVRAM editor to write that. I researched a bit but found nothing about that
I think you need to select proper baseband from database, then just enable one more checkbox for repair Mac address, thats it.
Or do you mean SN Write Tool isn't working at all? The flashing procedure is same as for SP Flash Tool, you need VCOM preloader drivers installed and device powered off.

[Help] Finally fixed IMEI, how MAC address?

Hello guys after formatting everything with SP Tools, i was desperated but finally managed to fix the second IMEI on a redmi 9 Lancelot. I used Maui Meta 10, the latest version , because its the only one workng for my phone, i am on an engineering Rom , and was finally able to fix the second IMEI
Now the problem is that i still have an invalid Mac Address starting with 0 , and in engineering rom i still see the error "nvram error =0x10", i believe because of invalid MAC
I can fix this error and the mac address by flashing a Nvram.bin and Nvdata.cfg , but since they contains 2 IMEI, the SIM signal will not work, because first IMEI should be Null.
If i flash NVram and then ii open Maui Meta, and i try to write 00000000000 on the first imei, it still doesnt work, because thats is a number even if is 0, to work it should be Blank, but if delete first IMEI leaving it blank, it will not write anything, and will remain the IMEI from the other Nvram.bin
That means if i write the second imei on erased nvdata and nvram partitions, i will have SIM signal, but not the Mac Address, and if try to flash Nvram from other devices, i will have valid MAC and no errors, but i cant use the sim card because the first IMEI is not blank.
I dont know what to do, i heard you can fix the MAC address after flashing the stock rom too, rooting the phone. Is that true? And will this fix the RAM ERROR = 0x10 too?
Do i have to write the barcode too to be able to use google account again? Or its just impossible? Thank youu
