Question Stuttering on scroll when 90hz mode activated - Samsung Galaxy A22 5G

Using 60hz the scroll is normal (web browser, apps, etc) but when stitching to 90hz more of the time the scroll is horrible, stuttering a lot. Sometimes it fixes rebooting and clearing the cache, but after a while it broke again.

Hi, just got this phone from work. Same behaviour... 90hz basically unusable.

I'm so surprised there is nothing about this on XDA nor reddit except this topic. I literally tried everything

put the phone on 3g, the problem gone

Despite that it looked very unrelated, I tried. Needless to say it did not fix the problem at all.

[Q] General Interface Lag

Hello everyone!
I have just received a brand new T-mobile branded Z3. I am coming from a Nexus 5 which I absolutely loved minus the camera and battery life. So far I am really enjoying the Z3 and most everything seems to run great, other then just general interface navigation. It seems that scrolling, web surfing, facebook, or anything that requires lots of scrolling, just seems to be extremely laggy compared to my Nexus 5. I have tried Nova, Google Now Launcher, Stock Xperia Launcher, and everything just seems to have general lagginess about it.
Does anyone experience this as well? If so, any suggestions for what I might try? I'm not running in stamina mode and see no difference in general interface performance between the two modes. I really want to enjoy everything that the Z3 has, but the lag is getting to me and maybe I am just expecting too much. Thanks in advance for any details or suggestions.
Seems pretty fluid till now, no lag here.
Seems odd have you tried a full reset?

Yea, I find it odd as well. I am proceeding with a full factory reset to see if this helps out a bit. I will report back. Thanks for your suggestion.
No lag at all for me, although I have the standard D6603 model, but I am running go launcher ex which is quite intensive - what's your running/outstanding RAM within the apps section of the settings menu? I'm also running CM (Clean Master) Battery which gives you an option to close the most recent app within that app's settings. It's a one click feature that flashes up whenever you exit anything that doesn't close automatically, and it's not overly intrusive.
Did you disable triple tap to zoom? Mine was off by default but some had it enabled and it caused lags.

Well, I performed a factory reset and that seems to have helped and my battery is noticeably even better from what it was, which was already great. It appears that triple tap to zoom is disable for me. Thanks for the suggestion!
Glad things worked out.

YouTube / Video playback Issues for anyone?

Anyone having Video Playback issues like on youtube or Videos from whatsapp.. Few seconds into playing the videos the video gets stuck and quickly the audio and video goes out of sync. Am i the only one with this issue or there are other people too ? if i see more people having this issue i will reach out to HTC.. else will do a warranty replacement for mine.
Note- Phone is not rooted, so no magisk module is present to cause this problem
Update- Sorry forgot to update this info, I had reached out to HTC and as per them one should try clearing app cache and restart. I did clear the cache using various methods including by booting into recovery, that seemed to fix the problem for sometime, though this kept coming back.
I've watched a bunch of YouTube videos since my U11 arrived 1.5 weeks ago and never had this problem at all. Never watched WhatsApp videos yet, as I don't get those very often.

Thanks for your reply, seem like an issue just for me(Unless other people also report the same), will probably need replacement.
The Facebook app has crashed for me several times when trying to play video, not every time though. Haven't had any problems with Youtube or VLC.
All of this sounds like software issues in my opinion, personally I would try first to clear data/cache of all apps affected, uninstalling app updates and reinstalling them and also a factory reset before going for a replacement.

According to HTC the solution is to go to Recovery mode and wipe cache partition, it worked for me.
Here is what i did and the below excerpt is taken from HTC's link which they sent me
With the phone powered off, follow these steps:
Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button while powering the phone on.
Continue to hold the VOLUME DOWN button until the Bootloader screen is displayed.
Press the VOLUME DOWN button until Recovery is selected. Press the POWER button to select.
The phone will appear to reboot and the screen will appear black for 15-30 seconds. When the recovery screen is displayed, follow these steps:
Hold VOLUME UP button and then press and release POWER.
Press the VOLUME DOWN button repeatedly until wipe cache partition is highlighted on the screen.
Press the POWER button to select.
Press the VOLUME UP button repeatedly after the process completes
Press the POWER button to select reboot system. The phone will reboot normally.

Just to chime in, mine lagged and skipped frames and was it was obvious when it happened. I just forward and rewind the video and everything went back normal. Will apply the fix if it becomes persistent.
Thanks for the cache wipe solution, do let us know if your video playback has anymore problem after a while after applying this fix.

Turns out the sound mod I had installed may had been the cause of my lip sync issue. It was the Viper4Android magisk module.

I have EXACTLY this issue, has been like it since I received the phone and before installing any of my own apps. It seems a little intermittent as doesn't happen on ALL videos or streams but does on most, including videos take by the phone itself - really irritating - it's not the app I'm playing back on either as it happens on all three apps installed.
Did you resolve this with the cache clearing method? I would be interested to know if it worked before obliterating my app data.
Clearing the cache partition solved the lip sync issue for me. I didn't notice it before on YouTube. Maybe it was after today's maintenance update, but I can't be sure. Anyway, it's ok now.
I also have this problem.
U11 with 6gb/128gb. I have the problem when I use Google photos to play a video shot with the camera.
If I use VLC to play the video, no problem.
It's quite annoying.
Same issue here. I play videos from websites such as news websites and the sync is terrible. I will try clearing the cache partition and see if there is any difference. It already been factory reset!
I just wanted to chime in that I'm getting the same issue. I'm going to try the cache clearing and I'll let you know if it works. All video tends to be behind by 2-5 seconds, which makes anything beyond music playback impossible.
I think the VLC app may be the culprit here.... I deleted it after I noticed a post here that mentioned it and so far it seems to be working.

I was having this issue too and it drove me nuts. It only started happening recently so I traced my steps and figured out what i did that caused it.
It was the Magisk Module that fixes 60fps video recording and slow motion video for the GCam. Removed that module and instantly YouTube was back to normal.
Hope this helps a few people.

Do you have viper4android installed? It also happens when I have Bluetooth power enabled in v4a
Nope.
I also noticed that in some recorded videos, the sounds ends sooner than the video.

January 2020 security patch

I just received this update.
Me too! Now let's wait for Android 10 next month
Feels smooth. Its like ui fps matches with screen refresh rate.
But ui vibration lowered i guess.
Nothing new, same s..t. still have problem with proximity sensor during call (open lots apks)
No dt2w either (or at least the option).
Took a while to install, 105mb as well.. wonder whats changed.
edit: yeah, somehow scrolling feels smoother.
So it's not just me. The phone is smoother and faster in opening apps.
Update January 2020
Hello,
I have problem, when I want to install the update. The update is being downloaded, but an installation problem is reported during installation. I tried to restart my phone and again but all the same

I feel RAM management has gotten worse. Opening apps (especially Facebook ones, such as WhatsApp or Instagram) takes longer and some times it even fails.

Yup, and I usually do not have many apps open (Gmail, WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram and Chrome with 2-3 tabs).

The orientation sensors fail way too much, when browsing Google photos this morning and alternating between portrait and landscape the phone refused to rotate and stayed in the same orientation. It's really annoying.

I feel gps still takes time for locking position
Update.
More responsive, but fast become hot when playing pubg on wifi (flight mode).
Pros:
Great update. Smooth, fast, great battery. Faster in Pubg than dragonhearth kernel.
Cons:
Gps takes looong. I will try a magisk module I found in repo.

Auto rotate animation stuttering

Anyone noticing this? This is most noticeable when watching a youtube video. Doesn't matter if it's 60 or 120hz. Not sure how to describe it but it's just like when you're playing a game then suddenly the FPS drops like the performance is being throttled. It's just not smooth as it was like on my Redmi note 4x or poco f1.
I thought the first system update yesterday resolved it but apparently it's still there. I'm also noticing this when scrolling through previous apps but not as noticeable as the auto rotate animation.
Yes, same problem here. Seems like it drops till 60hz when is rotating.

Actually, fps and refresh rate drops to 30 after a few seconds of not touching the screen. This causes the not so fluid animation when you rotate the screen.
Edit: Did some testing and seems like it only happens in YouTube app(vance/official) once you play the video. It doesn't happen when playing videos in gallery or google photos
Another bug....
I can't seem to get auto rotation to work at all actually. Anyone else having this issue? I'm on the latest version of the software, and auto rotation button is blue in drop down, and selected in the menu.

It also happens on official YouTube and other apps such as the Vivaldi browser
no problems with stuttering in vanced/youtube or alltogether, however its very sensitive, tilting the phone a little often rotates it.
My poco x3 rotate screen when is flat on the table - how I can fix this annoying issue ?

Question Is your phone as quick after the "GOS" FW update as it used to be?

Hey there,
yesterday I got the famous "GOS" firmware update and after having it installed my phone feels different. It happens in apps but not only that - for example as I switch from one screen with apps to another it slows down for a fraction of a second, a kind of micro stutter. Before the update it was butter smooth. I checked if the animations are still set to 0.5 (yes), 120Hz (yes) and wiped the cache but it is still the same.
Anybody else has the same problem, or even better, a solution? Thanks
Not got the update, but I manually disabled GOS, while I noticed it was smoother in various games and apps, I did notice some lag / stutters in places when it was enabled it was smooth.

Thanks, what is strange I didnt even disable it. I just got the new update but this bad result remains the same with GOS on or off regardless.
If anyone ever finds this and wonders how it ended - all my problems (when it comes to the phone) seem to be solved after a factory reset. The phone is much smoother, GB5 results good 20% higher and battery SOT time has gone up to over 8 hours. It was probably some artefact brought over via SmartSwitch that had caused the problems. Happy days now.
