I concur. Seems like this forum is oriented to newer phones. I have a J3 and hope to be able to load a custom OS on it.
Did you figure out how to unlock the bootloader on your phone? I'm still trying to get to the "hidden" OEM unlock in the developers options. If you were able to figure out how to do it, please share.
If you haven't unlocked the bootloader, a custom rom will be impossible to load.
You need turn on OEM unlock. You go to settings, about phone, software information, you tap on "build number" 7 times. This unlocks Developer settings which should be at the bottom of the settings page. OEM unlocking should be one of the options, but be aware iirc it should factory reset your device so back your things up. Thank you for taking the time to reply. I have been trying for weeks to get OEM unlock to appear in my Developer Options. I've tried reading every article and watching every youtube video on how to do this, and none of them will unhide the OEM unlock.
I appreciate you sending me the link. Maybe I missed it, but that appears to be telling you how to install TWRP using Odin. Are you suggesting installing TWRP with the bootloader locked?' Or was that intended to be done after the unlock was successful?
All the articles I read suggest setting the time back a week or so. That might work if you just bought a phone, but mine is about 5 years old. Nevertheless, I have tried it many times and it doesn't unhide OEM unlock.
Is there another way to unlock the bootloader? Any idea why Samsung made it so difficult? I tried calling Samsung support and of course they were zero help, telling me that OEM unlock was for level 2 Samsung technicians and not mere mortals.

Hi, when the "OEM Unlock" option is invisible, you need to search update, disable and re-enable developer option.

I don't understand what you meant by "you need to search update".
If you meant to click on system updates and then check for an update, I tried that, then I disabled and re-enabled developer option. OEM Unlock is still missing.
If you meant something else, please explain. Thanks for helpling.
I've heard there can be a 7 day lock period for some Samsung devices to unlock OEM, or even just straight out unavailable in certain regions. Worst case scenario you could flash the OS from a different region.
Well, I'm about to give up on this phone. I haven't been able to find any Custom ROMs for it. So there is little value in spending more time trying to figure out how to unlock the bootloader. I think the OEM Unlock feature is not available to USA customers.

I cant figure out how to unlock my Huawei Mate 9 model MHA-AL00 Chinese phone. The ABD tools don't seem to work. There is no enable OEM unlock option in the developer options. I have the unlock code. Can anyone help me? I really want to root it.

I had the same problem with my MHA-AL00. It just wouldn't accept the code no matter what I did. I did a lot research and finally found the solution. Surprisingly simple once you know it. I mean....it literally only takes 2 secs to fix.

Did you enable USB debugging in developer options? You might have to toggle it a few times until you get the approve dialog on your phone. Make sure USB is plugged in.
As far as I know you only need that for AL00, there is no OEM unlock toggle.

I tried all that to no avail. However finally I found the solution... for some reason it cannot work if you have this "Find my phone" enabled. Once I disabled that and restarted my phone it worked. It is know to cause this problem.

I have a Galaxy S7 that is now in FRP Lock after I rooted it, as I didn't know about ticking with "Allow OEM Lock".
I also have a Pixel that I rooted and so far is doing fine. I'd obviously like to avoid FRP Lock with my Pixel as well. When I went to the Settings to turn on "Allow OEM Lock" that option was greyed and I can't change it. It says "bootloader is already unlocked".
Does it mean my Pixel is safe from going through FRP Lock or... I need to do something about it?

So that is grayed out because it is already unlocked. It keeps you from sliding it while unlocked which can lead to a disaster if you have to re flash.
I am confused, your post is the first time I have heard of FRP lock from rooting. It is only triggered from resetting a phone, or flashing it, and not properly removing the Google account. You can get back in with the same account. It's only an issue if you don't know the original account info, like you buy it used.

So I want it grayed and to stay like that? This what keeps the phone from going into FRP Lock?
I don't recall flashing the S7. The Pixel went through a lot before I figured how to root it. Then I switched to the S7 and already had some more concrete knowledge how to root it. But... maybe I have done that with the S7 as well. It was a few weeks ago. It took some trials and errors.
Since then I turned off the S7 because I was out of the country and needed a new SIM Card to start using it, so it was just off ever since the root and some data transfer from the S5 (that I'm still using). But...certainly, it's not a used phone. I bought it brand new from Amazon. Unlocked but new. So never had issues with the Google account. Maybe I didn't remove the Google account in one of the times I flashed it? Anyhow, it never asked for my password before FRPing it. I just found it this way when I came to install the new SIM Card.
Or maybe this means the phone wasn't brand new...?

So got my S7 back up and running.
On the S7, from what I was told, to avoid FRP Lock, I need to set "OEM Unlock" to be On.
My Pixel is still greyed out.
Any idea why the difference between the two units?
From your post I understand keeping the "OEM Unlock" on can be dangerous.
So I'm a bit confused.

Once it is unlocked, do not relock it. Once you slide it to allow OEM unlock leave it there.

OEM unlock has nothing to do with FRP. I don't know much about the galaxy series but if Knox is still integrated then rooting may have upset Knox and for some reason triggered FRP (just a theory I have no way of backing up) as far as on the pixel FRP is to prevent activating someone else's previously activated phone after completely wiping it. It simply asks for the password of a previous Gmail account on the device. As far as bypassing FRP I believe there are ways to do it but I've never tried it
So I just ordered a Pixel 3a today and it's the T-mobile locked version. Now I think I might have messed up because I just read that the T-mobile version cannot be bootloader unlocked or even flash factory images (or beta?). This honestly didn't even cross my mind because I thought Pixel devices were always fully open and is a main reason why I wanted it.
My question is if there is anyway to bypass this restriction and run the Google factory image? When I got a T-mobile OnePlus 6T there was a tool that allowed me to flash the factory image and then enable bootloader unlocking. I've been searching online but finding conflicting information that is outdated from a year ago.

My pixel 3a is the T-Mobile version. I was able to unlock the bootloader with zero issues. What seems to be the hangup on your end? I've talked to a few people who have had similar issues, and they stated that OEM unlocking was unavailable in the developer options menu. Is this where youre getting stuck? Or does the problem occur in fastboot when you actually attempt the unlock?
If the issue lies in the developer options menu, there's a workaround that I'll have to find for you. But i *think* what is happening is when you do a factory reset, it installs the generic image -- but as soon as it boots up, the Tmobile Sim causes carrier specific settings/software to be overlayed and effectively blocking the "OEM unlock" setting from being toggled. Without researching it, I believe the solution to your problem is to remove the sim card, then do a factory reset. Boot it up, go through the setup without the SIM physically installed. This should theoretically keep the the option to enable OEM locking available to be turned on.
I bought mine through T-Mobile, used it for 3 months and then asked to have it sim unlocked, which they did. At that point, I installed the verizon Sim card, did a factory reset, and the option to unlock the bootloader became available. So the method I laid out above, should work for you. If not, I'll actually dig around and get ya set up.

Is device leased from a carrier, e.g Verizon? AFAIK by default this phone has OEM Unlock option in Android's Developer Options.

This device(all of the US models) doesn't have the OEM unlock option. As far as I know, these devices have to be unlocked via a paid service from a 3rd party.

Device has been paid off. It is also network unlocked as well. The device was originally leased from Tmobile. I am aware that the setting is supposed to be in developer settings. I am telling you, it is not showing up for me.

May I'm wrong but the fact that the client have covered the contract, doesn't mean that the carrier do that, if a special petition was not presented to them, then, they don't care about. If the device came with a firmware that came with that feature disabled, so it, also, ends its "normal" life with the same featured included (or not) in the firmware by default.
But you could make advantage from the network unlocked condition, switching to a different firmware it would be possible, and, the option may appear.

This - The 'U' devices do not have OEM unlock by default.

This may be just a kind of starting point, to have in mind, but that need more research though, I did it in my GN8 but with your device, things may be different.

I know already that this might not be possible but I have to ask anyways. My father recently passed away unexpectedly and he has just recently bought a galaxy flip 4 (before he had a galaxy S21).
Now he still has some photos on there he recently took (Google backup is off).
I already tried unlocking the phone via Samsung find my phone but I always get the message, that the function is not enabled in the phone.
Same goes for the S21 which I also can not unlock.
The time between unlocks is already at 48h because I've tried all the numbers I could find around the house.
Is there a possibility of either:
1. Unlock the device by rooting or patching a file in recovery mode or someway else?
2. Is it possible to enable the unlock function for find my phone somehow?
3. Is it possible to reset the counter for failed unlock attempts? Because I have the feeling it has no upper limit and will just double in time forever... I may find the correct pin eventually but I need more tries.
If any of the above is possible for the S21 then this would work too because he just switched phone 2 days before he passed and the files are still pretty much identical.
If you can help and need proof of possession or anything from me to proof that this is indeed the phone of my dad please write me a pn.
I would really love to have the last pictures taken ...

I've recently had to bypass the FRP Google lock and after many hours of research, I was able to finally find a reliable program that was free and free of viruses. I've tried this tool but I can't get into the engineering mods by entering the code into the emergency call pad.
Therefore the tool doesn't detect my phone.
It is also not recognized if I go to ADB update in the recovery menu.
How did you do it?

I have a z flip 4 5g and I'm locked out of it and I cannot factory reset it and I do not have on USB debugging. Is there a way to enable USB debugging on locked z flip 4?

I thought the whole idea of this post was to save the data? Everything mentioned here pretty much is gonna wipe the phone. Which leads to all that's trying to be done is bypass factory reset protection. If you have death certificate you can get Google and samsung to release the locks accordingly and it can be factory reset from the recovery menu.
From there. Frp bypass is a very gray area on xda and most people will not help.
