I recently received my Xiaomi 12S Ultra and I see that the screen comes with a protector pre-installed, but it also seems that it has a camera lens protector pre-installed? Can someone confirm if this is the case? This way I wont have to worry about scratches, or buying a protector.
I received my Xiaomi 12S Ultra a few days ago and I also noticed a pre-applied front screen protector and there's definitely something on the camera lens. I can see there's an outline that doesn't make contact with the gold ring but am struggling to peel it off as it seems quite hard (either that or I'm just being too careful).
I would expect the lens to have gorilla glass protection though?

I see that outline you are referring but dont want to mess it up. I cant find any mention online if the lens has a protector installed or if it has gorilla protection. I ordered a case that protects the lens just in case.

I spent 30 mins trying to peel it off but in the end, decided to leave it as I didn't want to risk it either.
I bought the $40 official Xiaomi black leather case and it has a noticeable circular ring at the back to elevate the camera bump even when it's placed on a flat surface, so that'll do.
Where is JerryRigEverything when you need him .
But from the way I see it, there isn't any protector on the lens. Factory protectors are usually plastic, which are easy to scratch. I already have tiny scratch on the display protector. None on the lens.

I ordered a case from AliExpress that covers the lens and has openings for the cameras and sensors.
I also emailed Xiaomi global support hoping they can confirm if the lens have some sort of protection (film protector or Gorilla glass protection). Waiting for their response.

I bought this on Taobao for my lens and found it fits the phone perfectly.
I did some search and it seems the cap only sold in China. I can only find one without logo on Aliexpress:
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001488602004.html?spm=a2g0o.seodetail.topbuy.1.5c2011ae5g8j4l
I am sure this is the same one I bought and they removed the logo due to legal issue to sell it outside of China. I am confident that you may ask the dealer to give you one with logo. This is a high quality cap meets Leica standard IMO however you need to use the xiaomi official case for the 12s ultra, otherwise the cap won't fit.
I received a response from Xiaomi Global regarding the lens protection and it was useless lol:
Dear Sir/Madam,
Hello, Greetings from Xiaomi Customer Support! This is Grace.
We at Xiaomi value your trust and we apologize for the inconvenience. Rest assured that we'll assist you on this.
We would like to inform you as of now we have no official information regarding whether the camera lens have Gorilla glass or similar protection. All the official information we have learned is listed in the below link:
https://www.mi.com/global/product/xiaomi-12s-ultra/
If you wish to know more details, we suggest you to contact your local point of purchase.
We hope the above information helps you.

Thank you very much for the link. I will contact the seller and ask if they brand this protector with "Leica". The 12S Ultra original case is already ordered and on the way.
JerryRigEverything comes to the rescue:
It doesn't say what type of glass is, but his steel knife couldn't scratch the lens glass, so I'm guessing the back glass doesn't actually have any type of protector, but it's made of glass with hardness of level 6.
Most steel knifes are mineral level of hardness of 5 - 5.5.

I was wondering if anyone knew where I could buy a tempered glass protector for the lens of the S6. The camera lens sticks out quite a bit, and I have my phone in my pocket with keys and other objects.
On past phones such as the Note 2 and 3, the glass has always been scratched, to the point on my Note 3 where it hindered the sensor.
I bought the full body and it came with a full camera lens and hole cover. All the other full body kits leave the hole uncovered.

Yea it's plastic.
Dude you aren't going to find anyone who will manufacture such a small piece of glass, they can barely create a good fitting one for the front screen.

I was just asking because I know that in the past, Niilkin used to make glass covers for the camera for the OnePlus One, and for the Note line.

Not quite glass but a aluminum might be a solution.

I am researching a protective cover for the lens glass cover. I just had to pay $65 for a new cover, and was told at the store that this cover is very prone to breakage in the Galaxy S6. They replace them all the time. Anyone know of a clear protective cover for this?

Just bought one. We'll see how it turns out. $0.99 isn't too much to lose if it sucks.
Sorry i'd post pics of it on the phone but I don't own an S6 anymore. Mine was a tiny metal ring around the camera lens. I felt safe enough to use the phone without a case with it on. The only thing is you gotta align the protector properly or it might block the camera.

Let us know how it goes. The only issue I can see happening is it impacting picture quality / focus / etc, but I'm sure it has been at least slightly tested before they made it

I doubt it. You could just get a cheap $1 screen protector for any old phone from ebay (not an anti-glare one) and cut it to fit, however you risk losing some functionality of the heart sensor if it is obstructed.
Alright. Finally got the thing in the mail. I use the Ringke slim case and the Nillkin glass screen protector, and I am very happy with the look and feel of the coverage and protection. Adding this thing on was a bit of a disappointment, Without the case, it is like wearing a ten gallon hat on your knee. Painfully obvious. It sticks out and leaves a gap between it and the phone. With the case on, it isn't so bad. It stays beneath the lens protecting "bump" of the case and it doesn't interfere with photos. I have ttached pics with and without the case to illustrate my thoughts on it.

I think this is ugly and looks cheap.
I'm HOPING to find a tempered glass protector that doesn't have halo and isn't cut this way.
If not, I would prefer what I believe is PET (I just know that I don't like thermoplastic polyreuthane).
Normally, I would just end up going to eBay and looking at the cheapest ones on there which generally met my needs in the past, but are now all being cut like the above.
Has something changed recently that prevents manufacturers from having a more precise cut?
Can anyone help me find what I'm looking for?
It's weird, there's tons of properly cut ones for the edge but not the standard S6. I found a couple though.
How about this?

Is it odd that all these protectors are being cut this way or am I the odd one for caring?
Try these, not glass but almost perfect fit and good price, I would have put a link but i am not allowed to not having enough posts yet anyway its on amazon UK Anker® High Definition (HD) Screen Protector. the other option is the tempered glass screen protector from Remax with the thin black, white or gold line around the outside. Nope I'm the same. I also wanted a screen protector that would cover all the metal and I don't understand why they're not cut to cover all around the speaker and lens. At the moment, I've got a cheap protector on. It still means that the top area of metal is exposed to potential scratching.
Another, eBay item no 331539692284 from China.

I am the same as well. I got spoiled with my OPO and my tempered glass protector only had a cutout for the speaker. It looked very much like nothing was there. I am not a fan of these glass cut's where they have these giant ass cutouts at the top and bottom. I know you can close it out the manufacturers just don't because it requires much more precision I guess.

I also think that the screens of the devices also require some sort of attention; there needs to be special cutouts so the protector can lay properly. I'm not sure how it works, but you are most definitely correct. I know that with the iphone 6, my wife had difficulty getting one that would lay right; mostly because of the curved edges of that phone.

Great stuff Do report back with your findings, like if it's easy to fit, does it stick down or stay stuck down all the way to the edges, and does it cover both screen side edges completely. These seem to be the criteria that people often complain about. If so, I'll get one myself.

You might want to consider another protector though.
I asked the person who bought it if it's any good and he said "It stays down but the sticky adhesive doesn't go to the edge so has caught dust unfortunately. I'd probably give it a miss though the cutout is perfect fit.. Shame really"
Moshi tempered glass protectors are the only things I'd use on my phones. For iPhone 6, Galaxy S6, Note 4, etc, they're always edge-to-edge with professionally-looking cutouts. These are sold at AT&T corporate stores.

Looks great but I'm having trouble sorting out exactly what this "Camera lens bezel skin" does. This covers the lens bezel. Is the idea that it keep the round back circle around the lens (the bezel) from scratching or does it also offer some protection to the camera lens itself? Thanks.
Im guessing the area around the camera glass. A lot of people have been noticing how easy it is forbthat area to get scuffed up. But i would think this would also help a little with the actual camera lens from getting scratched since the skin would prob lift it off any flat surface a little.

Yeah lol. I just re-read the op. I guess I had it in my mind the outter bezel is what he was referring to since I've seen more people complain about that area.
Only thing I've seen is this. The reason lens protection is so hard to come by is because it can obscure pictures. Especially anything with an adhesive back (like the one i linked). The residue can cause images to look "hazy" especially in low light situations.
My lens glass has cracked on both my G4 and my V10 and I blame the poor design of having it protrude from the rest of the back. It should have been the opposite. Unfortunately this causes very ugly light streaks in dim settings when taking a picture. The only thing I've found to remedy this by buying a replacement which was surprisingly cheap. $10. However, the auto-focus and macro capabilities never seem to be the same afterwards. Sigh.

Hello,
I am just about to order an H961N from Ebay and since my main priority for it will be it's camera, I intend to protect it using a PDair leather Flip Case.
http://www.pdair.com/index.php/lg-v10-flip-wallet-case.html
As you will see this case fully protects the rear of the camera but still allows it to be used in a hurry when required.
Having used one of these on my Nokia N8 for the last 5 years (yes really!), I know it is both well made and effective. My N8 still looks like new and takes good photos
albeit not now up to V10 standards.

I can't find anything about the poor quality, being too small is not about quality, the buyer just got the protector from the wrong seller, I got 2 set from two different seller, one being too small, I think the seller just wanted to sell them and sold it as a V10, the second set is the correct size, fit's exactly within the size of the V10 lens.
have anyone tried this one? a little expensive i guess http://www.amazon.com/Martin-Fields-Overlay-Screen-Protector/dp/B0198T4AA4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1463978276&sr=8-1&keywords=lg+v10+camera+protector
Just get an Obliq case. It's very functional, looks super cool and is just high enough to protect the bezel without obstructing the camera function
eh, it looks like it would have no real protction. i dropped my gs5 and broke the glass that covered the lense. i would love to have some kind of extra glass screen to go over it.

You can't trust random brands on ali express to be honest. The item quality is mostly hit or miss, unless you read lots of reviews and pick carefully.
You can find the Mofi fabric cases unbranded like this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/-/32908110384.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.1f582e0eEFAUuW
As of the leather case, I bought this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/-/32915942532.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.1f582e0eEFAUuW but I'm still waiting for it to arrive.

Since the time (several years) I buy on this site, this is truly the first time I'm so despited. The second flip case bought is good and useful with a good price. Our reviews will help to choose carefully, this is the man goal of this post.

I got a cool looking grey case with a nice texture the other day. The camera bump is appropriate and the price is low. Nothing to complain about so far except I don't think it's very water or sweat proof. Link: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/323406914151

Thanks for this return. The picture does not seem to correctly protect the camera, could you please post a picture ?
What I can recommend are the GKK 360 cases. I am not allowed to post a link yet but you can look it up on AliExpress.
If you put a 9H screen protector on the Display and then put on this case its like a full body condom for your phone^^

Hello,
The quality is good. More if you consider the price.
The fit is perfect, good feeling in the hand.

Hi, a couple of questions.
- Is the case slippery?
- is the camera bump protected properly?
thanks.

Hello,
- As it is not gel, it is more slippery than the original in the box.
- The hole for the camera is a bit big. The glass of the camera is not totally protected, it protrudes very very little from the right side. But this case protects more than the stock case.
Sorry for my English, regards!
@hugomoya
Is it only in black colour? I have gold version and i don't want to cover it in black.
Could someone recommen me the case (with good camera bump protect) wich transparent/clear color? No flip cover.
Hello @vgran
Only in Black, Gray, Red, Dark-Blue.
Maybe Nillkin TPU Case is a good choice for you:

Or Mofi:

I bought a Mofi fabric case for my Mi A2 and my camera lenses are already scratched up because this case doesn't have the 'lip' the original TPU case does that protects the cameras, good thing I applied a camera tempered glass when I bought the phone.

Greetings. Does the fingerprint scanner work well with the glass?
Cheers, I've got a random tempered glass off Amazon, for about 9€ for two pieces. It doesn't seem to affect the fp-reader. Though I get mixed results overall. I hope going to eu rom improves the reliability. It feels a bit hit or miss. But thats not the glass' fault
I bought Nillkin XD MAX Full Coverage Screen Protector.
Looks good !

Yes it is cover, and case friendly.
Maybe slightly smaller at the corners (~0.5mm)
Hello
I've used "A-VIDET temperd glass Mi 9T" on Amazon (ASIN : B07SM81G7Q) and no problem ! They give an "oil" to prevent white edge !

Hi all,
did anyone find a full-cover / 3D protector that doesn't cut away some pixels at the edge of the display? Seems all of the full cover screen protectors have this issue. I wish there was an alternative. I'm using the official case so I don't mind if the screen protector is a bit rough at the edge since it will blend over to the edge of the case anyway. But loosing a few pixels on every side of the display is a big no for me.
Thanks.

Agree, a big no for me too. I ordered one from AliExpress and was very disappointed, fortunately the seller was reasonable. I suggest you take a look at https://www.protectionfilms24.com/c...-sort=bestResult&searchfield=Xiaomi+Redmi+K20 > I've ordered a few through the years for different phones and was always satisfied. Since the screen edges are round, it'll be hard to find edge-to-edge protector, but if anyone manages to find it, please respond (with pictures).

I totally agree. I'm using this one myself. Easy to apply, good fit and hardly visible when applied.
Got bubbles after applying? Don't worry within 24h they are gone.

Bro i replaced my old tempered with hydrogel film for best fit, unlike the tempered glass i used before, it is not fit so well due to the screen is slightly curved. ???
I bought it on shoppee. ???
Bought a screen cover from here, https://www.ebay.com/itm/For-Xiaomi-Mi-9T-Tempered-Glass-Screen-Protector-CRYSTAL-CLEAR/183856074868 incredibly bad doesn't cover the edge of the screen just hangs in there. The hydrogel I bought is on the way but takes a long time to deliver and I'm hopeful about its capabilities. If its quality the structure should be really resistant to damage but not so sure about cracks. Also bought another glass protector will test that out also soon if it arrives.
Hydrogel is best solution because it stretches and can cover curved edges, BUT it is much worse to the touch. I had it on my honor 9 for two years. And playing games with hydrogel is unpleasant because fingers slides with difficulties (on glass it slides easy and smooth.)
Hydrogel is good for about 6-8months, then it is better to replase with a new one because it becoums blury and you can see glue under protector. Buy one with tool for easy apply. Hydrogel is harder to aply thannold style screen films because it stretches.
