PIM backup woes- HELP anyone who knows programming....

ok i deleted my PIM backup file on accident. i did however recover these files using a data recovery software that i found. here are the files [names] that I recovered:
appts_20071027.pba
contacts_20071027.pbc
custom_20070903.pbx (i assume this one is old and i dont care about it)
custom_20071027.pbx
msgs_20071027.pbm
PIMBackup_20071027.pib
speeddials_20071027.pbd
tasks_20071027.pbt
i could NOT recover
clogs_20071027.pbt
so my dilemma lies in that when i try to run PIMBackup file or contacts backup file i get this message after "Analysing file structure...":
"invalid contacts backup file type, Nothing done." or if i try and select the PIMBackup file it just gives an error and wont even let me attempt the backup. the error is entitled "PIM restore error" and contains "The format of the file "\My Documents\recovered\PIMBackup_20071027.pib" is invalid."
is the main backup file invalid because i am unable to extract the clogs file? can i delete that entry or section of the file? why cant i just restore my contacts only? this is driving me insane i REALLY need my contacts this is VERY important. please anyone i will be indebted to you for life if you can help me i am desperate here...
**edit**
oh and fyi i can provide teh files if needed theres nothing copywrighted or proprietary, if you think you could help i would be more than willing to present them. thanks in advance for any help.

restoring sprite backup on different device

Hi All,
I need your help.
I had to send my HTC Haiser to service and I did a backup with Sprite Backup.
Today I received my phone back. They exchanged mainboard, so when I wanted to restore data it gave me the message that it is different phone and it needs some "upgrade files" - i don't have them - and the restoring did not work - my first mistake
Recently I had to reinstall my pc and after, I didn't synchronize with phone - my second mistake
Reasuming: I have a backup file, I want to restore my contacts. I've installed sprite explorer and recover pim.vol file but don't what to do with it?
How can I get my contacts back???
Please help!!!
Thanks
Piotr

Hi,
Sprite BU can only restore data to the same phone with the same OS. Even an upgrade fom WM6 to WM6.1 is killing the backup. Best thing you try is sending the backup.exe file to your PC and try to open it with Universal Extractor .

Hi,
Check the properties, and try to open it in Notepad. Look at the structure and see if you can save it as *.csv which can be imported in Outlook and then synced by AS.

If the PIM file has been extracted, should it not be the case just to copy to the device?

How to recover my clockwork backups

First, let me say that I am new at this (which will become very apparent). I renamed my clockwork backups so they could be easier to decipher (I kept the date but deleted the numbers at the end which I assume is the time) and when I tried to recover I received an error message saying MD5sum do not match. Is there a way to go in to that particular back-up file to find the original name so I can match it back and do a proper restore? Thanks in advance.
I'm afraid recovering the original name from the file itself won't be an option. You however can check if there is any logging from your backup software that contains the original name of the backupimage. Also you can rehash md5 and paste the checksum (hex) over the existing hash, is there some sort of recover file that calls the checksum ? If so, you need to overwrite the checksum there.
After reading the post above it looks like your f-ed.

There is a way around it that "sometimes" works. Its a long shot but better then no shot!
* Create a new backup (doesn't matter what off just do it)
* One you have created a new backup open to view the files in windows
* copy & replace the old backup files with the new ones
* Boot back into clockwork & try restoring with the new backup you just created.
Basicly what your doing is after making a new backup is replacing the files in the backup folder with the old files. This has worked a few times for me when I first started making back-ups & never realised that renaming it would be a bad idea.
Hope this helps you get your back-up back!

Restore Squid (Papyrus) Notes from files

My phone recently died and I have to factory reset it. I managed to use TWRP to recover some of my data first which included the Squid files.
According to their website rooted users can backup the database file and the required pages but it doesn't mention restoring them. I've tried copying the files back to the Squid data folder but they don't show up. I've also tried editing a papyrus.bak file (it's a zip) and adding my database/pages but when trying to restore them using the app it says restore failed.
Any ideas how I can do this?
I've got slightly further now. I managed to get Squid to load the database file after copying the backed up files to the data file. When I load Squid it shows the correct number of notes but they're all blank.
Yay! I fixed it. Apart from one file but I'm happy with that. The database I was trying to restore was looking for one extra page which didn't copy across when I was wiping my phone. Loaded up SQLiteBrowser, removed the entry from there, inserted everything into the papyrus.bak file and it restored them. Yay
hello i have a problem i save my note from squid becfause i reinstalled my rom but when i want to restore papyrus.bak it say wait for restoring datyabase... but it don't restore i waited all the night and it stay in that message.... is there another way to restore my data thanks for the help...
its very not good becfause i writed my journal of what i do in the journay and so i lost 1 month of journal..... i'm sad.... but i have the cfomplete papyrus.bak file it make 66,7 mb when i open it in a text software there is lot of text but i don't know what it say xd
Did you make a manual backup of the papyrus.bak file? And that's not working when you try to restore it with Squid?
The papyrus.bak file is a zip file with a database and other files so you need to rename it to .zip if you want to open it.
Thank you very much i restored all with winrar i repaired the papyrus. Zip and with the .pages and root explorer i renamed the blank squid notes with the pages from the papyrus. Zip and i restored all my Diary its too cool and without you i never can do it thank you and have a good day!
