How to remove data icon?

Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone knows how to remove the data icon circled in the screenshot below?
The reason is that I don't use data on my phone, and it's been blocked by my SP at my request, so this "no data connection icon" shows on my toolbar SO I just wanna get rid of it.

hmm, thats an option........ but I figured there would be a reg tweak possible instead of installing a program just for this purpose... thnaks for your response though..
anyone else come accross a way to do this??

I was thinking that I should post it there first, but I wasn't sure, and considering it is probably a reg tweak needed (I noticed that in a few ROMs the icon doesn't appear (Alex's is one)) , I decided to post it here. If the MOD would like to move it over there, then so be it.
I noticed you answered the same way in another post, maybe sirens should sound with every one of your posts? (forum police) lol

Haha, no not the police, you'll notice i still answered the question and suggested where the post might get more attention. I just think that if everyone posts where they're supposed to it might make it easier to find what we're looking for. I also looked around to see if i could find any information related to your question, but was not successful. Did you try asking alex how he got rid of it?

hehe, yea, i was just joking.... and your probably right, maybe this should have gone in the other forum, but I really wasn't sure.
I haven't asked Alex how he did it, if he doesn't answer to this thread, I'll PM him tomorrow.....

you could possibly edit the data connection icons so that its completely blank. the icons are stored in shellres.96.dll i believe.

I am having trouble copying the dll from my device. I am getting an Access Denied error. Do you know if there is a way to copy it off my device so I can extract it and edit it?

check some of my threads and you will see at least 2.

yea, mine is named the sammmething. I guess the only way to do this is edit the file from a dumped rom and then copy it over the exiisting file in the windows folder? can someone upload the file shellres96apps.dll from their windows folder if they can copy It off there device? it would be much appreciated
(and I already have the software to edit the file, I just can't get the file off my device.)

[Q] Requesting help with the acquisition of an insidious application.

Good afternoon dear forum dwellers,
I find my self facing a very steep obstacle related to an application. My agricultural family requires the application in order to conduct normal work. The issue i am faced with is two fold. I am unable to download/install the application due to either region restriction or phone restriction.
The notorious application is this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yara.checkit
So i request the aid and wisdom of those of you that possess far greater abilities than i, in solving this perhaps simple conundrum. My request is the following: Would it be possible for someone to download that application and sub sequentially sent me the .APK file of it so that i may install it manually. Alternatively i am open to any and all suggestions regarding the resolution of the above issue.

you could most likely use 4shared to get the apk since its free.

i might be, other users upload it, if theres lots be careful what you get because people are bums and they could load it up with Ads or a survey you must do to unlock the app. so you said you talked to the app developer? why not ask him for a apk file?

I did ask them for the apk file they had no idea wtf i was talking about. I got 2 women one on the regular support line one on the "computer service desk" they seemed very surprised anyone was calling them at all, and neither wanted to help. So i don't think the support is going to be the way to go for this.

[Q] How to be seen as a different/new device?

Hello! I've looked for a week for an answer to this question : how to be seen as a different device?
Basically, I need to be seen as a different/new device so I can get limited bonuses on a game that is using referral links to do so.
So far I've tried :
-xprivacy
-Android ID Changer
-Andy and Bluestacks
-Factory Reset an old device
-MAC spoofing
-Flash a new rom
And none worked. I don't know what to do to be seen as a completely different device. Is there a way to "VERY HARD RESET" (LOL) or something similar to an Android simulator/emulator?
Needless to say that I'm rooted.

No. These games use your IMEI to tell what device and those can't be legally changed.

Shouldn't it be possible on a rooted device to alter whatever api is used to retrieve the imei number so that you can spoof it to enquiring apps? That shouldn't be illegal as you're not actually changing it.

It is because then it is sending out an improper IMEI which breaks the cloning laws. Also as it controls everything from the IMEI it could also cause you to lose all signal.

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know they used IMEI number.
But what about wifi only device such as some Android tablets? They don't come with an IMEI number as far as I know, so do they use the serial number instead? I'm asking because I managed to get one bonus from my tablet and I'm wondering how they could identify this device without the IMEI.

In cases of tablets then they might use the serial number that is hard coded into the system.

Sending data to the MFD

Hey,
Does anybody know how to send data to the MFD (Multi Function Display)? I have a Corsa D. I get a "Welcome!!!" when it starts up.
I've tried decompiling a few apps (MTCCanbus, PCRadio) to see how they do it but it's pretty convoluted since you don't get the original variables and class names when decompiling.

I think someone may have done it in the very similar MTCB/C headuntis a few years back. You would also have to know all the code for your car's CAN Bus system as well I think

The bluetooth audio player already tells the MFD that it's playing through bluetooth, but I wanted a way to send the actual song/artist info to the MFD.

Sorry, my point was that the code exists somewhere on one of the system apps in the rom. I've decompiled a few but couldn't find anything useful. I was just wondering if anyone knew a starting point.

Yes, it exists, but you need to find it and work out how to make it say what you want, I think it has been done to some extent for VWs, but I cant remember where, so youve got 3 years of MTCB forum to search through including the massive megathread that existed for 18 months before we got our own forum.

Sure. In MTCMusic, you'd override the SendCanbusinfo(int, int) method in com.microntek.music/MusicActivity to broadcast the com.microntek.canbusdisplay intent action with extra time set to something other than the current playing time.
Of course this would only work for MTCMusic. If you wanted to use a 3rd-party media player, you could construct the same broadcast intent and pass the same info.

Hello everyone, I don't know if there is a question like this already but I would like to know : How can I write a text/ personal message on my lockscreen please?
I had this on my old LG V 30 and I can't find it on my Fx2 pro.

I don't know if that is possible at all, I've never seen any options for that. But what you can do is display a text on your AOD.

The weird thing is that when i changed my V30 for the Oppo the backup from Google restored evne the text on my lockscreen but now i can't find a way to change /delete it .

That's true, I've had the same thing happen to me when I restored a backup from my old Samsung. While then option clearly exists on standard Android and thus also is part of the backup routine, Oppo simply seems to have chosen not to implement the option in ColorOS. I wonder if it would be possible to somehow access or change settings for that via ADB commands.... ?

Has anyone figured out how to change this? I too restored from another phone (Oneplus 7T) and I can't change the (incorrect) lockscreen text I have!

Nope, there is no option available. I have the same issue.

I spoke to Oppo customer support today about this and they confirmed there's no way to change it and said "they've already let headquarters know about this and there may be a fix in a future update".
I wouldn't hold you breath!
In the meantime this must be stored somewhere on the device!
