Unfortunately, I am posting this question from a tragic loss of a dear friend earlier this year as his wife gave me his phone to see if I could unlock it for her as it contained so many details of contacts and photographs of her family she does not have any more.
My main question is this; How can I unlock his phone without any data loss if I do not know his pin number?
I have tried all proprietary software solutions but they all wipe the phone clean and or are not up to date with this phone, even tried some off-beat YouTube solutions to no avail.
I have looked at SDK solution also but for the novice this is too daunting and worried I could brick the phone so any advice would be warmly welcomed or point me somewhere I can go!
(by the way I have all the receipts for this phone and IMIE number etc so this is a genuine request - not a lost or stolen phone)

I need help with a hacked possibly hidden root phone attack & i really don't know muc
I felt my phone was 'hacked', it was echoing during calls, getting really hot, passwords & secret questions on my emails were being changed, FB password changed & picture login disabled etc. etc. I BELIEVE my device Samsung J1mini is rooted HOWEVER somehow hidden cas most apps say it's not rooted but I found a hidden /root file & Superuser was only to be granted access with 'android.permissions', ok explaining it best I can. I also have PC Acer Laptop. USB ports disabled won't charge my phone. ESET picked up a virus but it disappeared b4 I could press Y to delete. Renamed I believe. The top of windows go green when I click in them the same person said Crypto something which he explained as ransomware but I've had no demands & drive has been wiped so many times there is nothing to hold to ransom. I seriously need help. Just bought a Huawei Y9 Elite LYO-02 but it's only 4 weeks old, got a new sim with new number & EXACTLY same things are happening again. So I factory reset it (whilst off) cas a password I didn't put there prevented me from phone factory resetting it. Now I'm stuck on the gmail screen & NONE of my emails work. I've watched you tube videos on how to bypass this screen but no success yet. I asked someone I didn't know very well to help & he installed Terminux/Linux on my phone & told me it was just underneath my phone he accessed, what I now realize is he was most likely setting it up so he could remote control it from his PC or IPhone 6 & he had to install Linux. I hate liars.... now wondering instead of helping he saw an opening & made the hole bigger & this guy does IT. HELP! Please be kind. I wanna boot whoever is in out & take control by rooting phone myself. And taking admin privileges back on my Acer. I am administrator but u wouldn't think so. It's running Windows 8.1.
Urgent replies please. This whole thing is doing my head in. But I'm smart & willing to learn. Someone patoent please Show Me the Light lol
Hi there and welcome to assist,
Unfortunately there is nothing about your question/device on XDA forum. Try a Google search first or contact the manufacturer for stock firmware and flashing instructions.
You'll have to create an account to post in the main forums if you have any other questions.
Good luck
Hi all, after being screwed over by The Android Doctor, a remote network unlocking site (they messed with my IMEI leaving me unable to make/receive calls/texts or use mobile data), and pulling my hair out, trying how to get round their malicious behaviour without having to spend out more money, I stunbled across another thread on this web site with one out of many solutions. (This may well be the most full proof though). The original post referred to a Galaxy S3 and was posted by Nev of Innsbruck, Austria on 4 November 2015.
Well my problem referred to a Galaxy S5, but as Nev rightly said if you download and fire up Samsung Kies, head for tools and select firmware upgrade and initialisation before connecting your phone, Kies will ask for your model number and serial number and then download all the various files it needs to reset your phone to original factory conditions but with the latest firmware for that particular model/serial number. From there on it's just a question of following the on-screen prompts, and stand back in amazement when normality is restored once again. Initially I thought this would undo the network unlock I paid for, but nope my phone is still unlocked, but fully usuable once again. This will obviously not work for a black listed IMEI phone. I have started this new thread in the hope of getting this answer out there, as finding a actual solution that worked, was like looking for a needle in a hay stack...
I've been wondering lately, is there any solution to make a lost/stolen phone really unusable even after flashing etc?
Yes i know a couple method about google dashboard or google email verification, but as a flashing junkies, i look at that method is easily crackable.
I've been wondering too, is there any tech to make the phone unusable via IMEI blocking (user requested)? Unusable means like maybe the phone will no longer getting SIM services even after switching to any SIM cards -or- better if it still locks the phone and showing user editable lockscreen info - both even after flashing/changing email (since IMEI will still intact even after flashing unless you format the EFS which will resut in blank IMEI = no SIM services).
Then the phone manufacture support it by making an imposible (or hardly possible) IMEI changes, it can do via software or dedicated IMEI chip hardware.
The point i'm trying to make is if there is a tech like that, it will surely making a higher chance of someone retruning an accidentaly found phone and wishing for a reward afterward rather than having a thought of flashing it then re-use/sell it. The cost of making a locked lost/stolen phone usable again should be high enough that people wont bother to do it.
Well i believe i'm not searching enough to found the answer, but i guess there isn't yet exist any techonlogy to make a lost/stolen phone barely/fully unusable even after changes via software/hardware. It's been almost 10 years since android cames up,
I think we should push this to google/phone manufacture.
It's just my opinion, let me hear what is your thought.
And i'm wishing too somebody get inspired and take an action (since i'm just a lazy guy)
PS: sorry if there is a grammar mistake.
Can do nothing with IMEI there are many easy ways to change IMEI number of android device ???
I am trying to recover a deleted (not archived) FB Messenger chat for my friend on her Samsung Galaxy S6 Verizon SM-G920V, G920VVRU4DRE1. Her husband does not believe her about something and there was a record proving she isn't lying in a chat with someone else but both her and the person she was having the conversation have deleted chat history . She is really hoping someone can help her recover the chat history on her phone to save her marriage.
It looks like there are apps that supposedly help recover (no idea if they actually work) but they require root. From what I can tell, her phone has a locked bootloader and no one has figured out how to unlock it on XDA. If I could unlock the bootloader, there may be a possibly of rooting it and trying one of these apps. But from what I can tell, even if it was possible to unlocked, it would require formatting everything before putting a new image so that doesn't do her any good either. But than again, maybe was can back everything up first then unlock the bootloader. Anyone have any thoughts? She is certainly willing to pay someone if this data could some how be recovered.

If they deleted the history from Facebook itself, as in, the online entity itself, then its gone, even from their server/system as far as you or the user is concerned, that can't be recovered by either of you at all. If this is the case, then the only place that I personally can think the chat history could "possibly" be, is in cache on the device that was used to delete it, if that activity was retained in cache, but if the device has been rebooted or used heavily since then, its probably gone for good.

Hi, this is my first post here, after many years as a lurker. I have recently encountered an issue for which there doesn't seem to be a solution.
I have lost data (mainly photos and videos) after I accidentally deleted them, when I set up my cloud account, a long story that I won't bore you with..
In every single instance of similar issues over the years with all my android phones, [starting with the mighty HTC G1, and through many HTCs and now finally to the Huawei p20 pro],I have come up against a data loss that is genuinely non-recoverable.
All other android phones will allow 3rd party sofware access (sometimes with a small quick root install) to the phone.
The huawei is the first phone I have encountered that deliberately inhibits this. In order to get root access, I have to factory reset the phone.
This is a major issue, and one that I think would have put me off purchasing this phone had I known about it.
There simply is no way to retrieve lost data on a phone if you had not rooted it prior to the data loss.
How frustrating it is, to know that due to me being a silly billy and setting my cloud to delete local pics after upload, (then deleting the cloud thinking I had local copies), has cost me dearly.
The pics are still there to be recovered, but i can not ever get access.. to my own data, on my own phone, due to the firmware.
I think its time to finally go Samsung.
Please someone tell me I've missed something obvious, and that there is a way to retrieve these pics?
Tal.
I want to get my bootloader code first
