[Q] Who owns a Chinese OnePlus One?

Hello Everyone,
I'm currently residing in China and have purchased a Chinese OnePlus One. From my understanding the only difference is that I cannot use LTE and some 3G in America. Is everything else the same? Can I still flash any of these roms on this Chinese Version and not have any problems?
Please let me know any thoughts on the Chinese OnePlus One. I also heard that the yellow screen problem doesn't exist on the Chinese variant.
Regards,
Viper

As far as I've read the only difference is the frequency bands, you can still unlock the bootloader and flash any ROM you like. Not sure about the yellow screen issue on the chinese variant, thought it would have affected all (or portions of) all variants as they would be manufactured in the same place.
With regards to the frequency bands, the below thread is worth a look.

Hello Gsmyth,
Thank you for the quick reply. That was one of my only concerns. I'll cross my fingers and hope that there are no problems upon its arrival.

Hey Guys,
i'm still interested to hear from anyone who owns a Chinese One Plus though. I want to know their own experience with the Chinese variant.
Regards,
Viper
I am using chinese version.
I flashed almost all rom..hehehehe
I'm using the Chinese version, same hardware, everything is the same, i have touch screen issues just like half of Oneplus community. So this confirms that both variants been manufactured at the same place with the same hardware.

Samsung S8+ Hong Kong > US Samsung Pay?

Hello! I am looking to import a Samsung S8+ 128GB/6GB varient from Hong Kong. They have rolled Samsung Pay over there, wanted to know if anyone has had any luck using it in the U.S.
I know several methods have been implemented to get Samsung Pay to work. Seems to be hit or miss depending on where the phone is from. Does anyone have any experience with a Samsung device from this region? Thanks!
BUMP
Any ideas or opinions would be appreciated!

How did it turn out? Did Samsung pay work for you in the US?

Turn SM-G9708 (chinese S10e) into global?

Hi everyone,
I got a chinese S10e SM-9708 recently on my trip, since it has the superior snapdragon 855 compared to the exynos version sold here in europe. (plus its a bit cheaper there)
Could I just flash the global snapdragon 855 ROM (e.g. unlocked US ROMs) onto it and expect it to work flawlessly? using "official" tools like Odin or do I need to tinker around more? Will it support OTA then?
Sorry if that is a trivial question, i am pretty new to this.
Thanks in advance!
Hey,
I am not sure but I really want to know how this works. I want to root my S10e but I have a 970U model, so I can't. Honestly it's out of boredom and the challenge.
I am looking to trade for the Chinese\\HongKong one with a snapdragon if this is possible.
I hope you find out -- if I do I will post and let you know

you might be able to flash a Hong Kong SM-9700 ROM because they have the exact same hardware as the SM-9708 apparently (at your own risk, do research). US phones, even unlocked, have differences from the SM-9708 and 9700 (different: dual-sim, dual frequency GNSS, bootloader).

Flash the hong kong rom that has play store.
I’m using G9708 now. Unfortunately, there is no way to flash Chinese-unlocked/Hongkong rom by Odin without bootloader unlocked. Fortunately, she almost supports the global network as long as you don't use ChineseMobile SIM-card. Simultaneously, The official system comes with google serivers, so the GMS can be setup by yourself, you only need download them form APKmirror or other Open source networks.

Help please - can you flash s8+ to allow switch to Visible carrier?

Sorry If this seems stupid, have been reading but really don't understand very well how it all works:
I am switching from Sprint to Visible - my S8+ was compatible (model sm-g955u) , but wife's S8 Active was not compatible - so I purchased a used s8+ online.
But because the s8+ I purchased is a factory unlocked version (model sm-g955u1), it's apparently not compatible? Is there any way to flash the s8+ so that it can become compatible with Visible?
Otherwise I now own 2 perfectly good phones I can't use? Thanks in advance for any help that is offered!

CFW / FW for Chinese SM-N9860?

Hey!
The more I research the more confusion it creates.
The problem: I ordered the note 20 ultra from trading shenzhen and the Playstore doesnt work + lots of areas are still in chinese language.
So I was wondering if anybody in here changed the firmware / rooted a N9860 from china?
Thanks for your time and answer!
Stay healthy and take care
With kind regards
Chris
