Hi,
I have a question. I want to look at my apps on ubuntu and have installed the android sdk and can get it to boot. However, i cannot install any applications on it. I downloaded a system.img which I think I need to move to the .android folder and specifically into that avd folder.
However, where do I find this folder in ubuntu? I know where it is put for windows and can do it on a windows operating machine.
Thanks for the help
In nautilus (the file manager) click on view > show hidden files. This will allow you to see all the hidden directories. In linux, directories that being with a "." are hidden.
Description:
Emulates Pentium PC for Android. It can run x86 OS.
It was compiled from stable relese 2.5 (11/27/11) with modifications for Android and my own implementation of sound output via SDL. It uses SDL(from mamaich).
It is slower than QEMU, but is rather stable so is preferable in case low requirements for HW.
Requirements: Android 2.2+.
How to install:
1. Install apk (attached)
2. Extract content of SDL.zip to /sdcard/SDL folder on your phone
3. Put hdd image to /sdcard/SDL folder and rename it to c.img (or modify bochsrc.txt)
Possible issues: The programm exits right after start and there is no bochsout.txt in /sdcard/SDL - check bochsrc.txt for errors:
-wrong path to images (check cAsE)
-bad symbols were added to file
If you have bochsout.txt after start, then it should contain description for the issue. In most cases it is unsupported format of disk image
Control:
- It emulate touchpad on touchscreen and left/right mouse buttons on volume
You can also click touch screen to generate mouse left button click.
- Back = BackSpace, Menu = Enter, left-upper corner click generates TAB
- left-lower corner click popups keyboard
Additional features:
- (warning it is experimental so can damage you file system) direct access to NAND of your phone
modify bochsrc.txt the next way
ata0-slave: type=disk, mode=vvfat, path=/sdcard/HDD, journal=vvfat.redolog
where HDD - folder in /sdcard root
- Sound support via SDL
modify bochsrc.txt:
sb16: wavemode=1, dmatimer=500000
OS should have installed SB16 drivers
example of bochsrc.txt is attached
I've got a problem, cause when I wanna to start system i have No bootable media.
And there is a second problem, I can't mount cdrom.
Can u do a qemu app?

Windows XP SP3 Fundamentals
Dear geeks,
Finally, Windows XP SP3 Fundamentals is running under Android Bochs. It is very very stable. Works great with mouse and Windows XP On-screen Keyboard. The only problem on 500 Mhz processor in HTC - takes 1,5 hours to start. And very slow. Fast mobile required.

can you tell me how did you prepare .img file?
how to prepare img file
Not difficult actually. You need to use Bochs Disk Image Creation Tool. For XP SP3 at least 1500 Mb must be allocated. You need to install Fundamentals on real PC (otherwise you wount type ctrl+alt+del on first logon, and wount change display resolution to 640p), then transfer image file to android.
Yesterday tryed Microsoft Office 2003 - works extremely slow.
Can u post sp3 img?

The compressed image is 1.1 Gb. It includes bootable Windows XP Fundamendals Service Pack 3. I will attache also src text file with pc configuration. It is compatible for both PC and Android. Windows boots full color display 640*460 interlace drop till 320*240, 80 Mb RAM allocated, so it is still 40-50 avaliable for common Android applications. XP recognizes Pentium 4 processor operating at 7 Mhz. The forum limitations doesnt allow attaching that big files. If someone can give me an ftp or whatever like that and publish a link for everyone, i can provide files.
Sweet!! Contact the OP

You don't have bootable disk images according to log. Did you place c.img to SDL folder?

Hello sir,
please can anyone help me to install DSL (which stands for DAMN SMALL LINUX)/XP/win98/win95)'s .iso file into a .img file (which is a virtual hard disk flat .img file). I just wanted to run DSL/XP on my android ICS tablet using 'bochs'.
Here i am following the foot print of tutorial about install windows xp and run into android http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1465365.html
firstly I am using DSL's .iso intead of windows xp's iso,
I created .img file of 1gb using bximage.exe succesfully,
in qemu manager- created new virtual machine,
into cdrom I put dsl.iso, and into hard disk0 I putted c.img which I created with bximages.exe.
click green run button and DSL insttaled/running fine, but when I check back c.img file to copy into my android, crap... it is unused/untouch by qemu maneger as befor it was. what is the problem with qemu manage that it is not installing the os into c.img file ???
why c.img file is untouched yarrr even when I selected the c.img as hd0 why it's not writting OS into the virtual hard disk image file.
please give me answer as fast as it can be give. I am just crazy about to run other os's on my android tablet
well firstly I'll use DSL and after that XP etc.
hope someone will help me. :'( please explain
a few days ago i installed Bluestacks and immeadiately realized the entire computer is not viewable
so i started looking for a way to make it so i found a bunch of ways for previous versions but with this version and its altered windows regestry archeture i was unable to impliment them
so i decide to try a simple directory junction and it worked heres the method i used
it uses junction points
okay there are ultimately 2 ways to do this
one is with a utillity (i use Link Shell Extension) and the other is through command
you need your file system to be NTFS however if you are running Vista or 7 you are already on it (its the default)
im not sure if its the default on windows XP (if your using fat or fat32 on XP use the following CMD)
Code:
convert [driveletter:] /fs:ntfs
example convert c: /fs:ntfs
for more info visit the following knoledge base artcle support [dot] microsoft [dot] com kb/307881
for my example i am going to link "my music" to bluestacks through a folder that is rarely used but read by bluestacks
Close out of bluestacks
so to start install Link Shell Extension and allow it to restart explorer (i cant post links so you will have to google it, the developers web site ends with [dot] at)
now navigate to your user profile (paste the following in the explorer address bare to go right there)
Code:
%USERPROFILE%
Right Click on "my music" or "music"
Click "Pick Link Source"
now go to public pictures
Code:
C:\Users\Public\Pictures
right click in pictures
hover over "drop as" and select "Junction"
open bluestacks
launch your file browser and navigate to "/mnt/sdcard/bstfolder/PublicPictures"
and music should be there
this can be adjusted for as many folders you want except C://", "C://Users", "C://Users/public", "C://Users/Public/Pictures" (as those would create an infinate loop and may crash bluestack and or your computer. i haven't tested this, nor do i intend to) just link them all to "public/pictures" instead of music use the other source
Can anyone advise of how to locate the vendor folder on Android TV Boxes? I would like to export a file in the same folder so even after a clean wipe up those files remain there.
Also what will be the best way to connect the boxes with Windows laptop and transfer the files to Vendor folder? Is there any particular tool or will it be drag and drop into the folder?
Apologies being a naive and thanks for all your support.
