Is there such a thing as Open Source Android TV OS? I was looking into getting an opensource streaming box and Android TV would have the most apps since it supports all Android Apps.

Hi
how to use android tv apps with latestversion on box.
thanks
I have a Kogan KALED55KU8000SZA 55-inch Smart TV (or a "Mstar Android TV" by "Mstar Semiconductor Inc." according to the Web-based version of the Google Play Store)... It runs Android TV 5.1.1 with 3.41GB of ROM space (2.16GB used) and the "Android TV" side of things is pretty average to say the least.
According to Wikipedia, Android 7.0 ("Nougart") introduced some changes to Android TV and whilst the other versions of Android don't list any obvious improvements, it would safe to say that there's probably some "under the hood" changes...
So my question is, what is the possibility of upgrading Android TV on my television Android 7.0 ("Nougart") or beyond?
It is possible to achieve this and if so, is it worth the effort? Is it safe (well, as safe as custom-flashing can be)? How would I do this?
Hey Community,
is there a way to install Android TV OS on the MX10 box?
I couldn't find anything on google so far, I really need a version of Android TV for it, because otherwise it is useless for me.
I just want to use the Remote control and don't want to use any mouse or keyboard.
Btw. if there is no chance to install a Android TV OS for it, is there a way to start some Android TV apps like netflix, without a error message (Device is not supported)?
Thanks
Regards

Hi,
I have the same TV Box and I need it too. So +1 from me.
Hi guys
Is there a way to force the android TV apps to run on your phone?
I want to use my broken phone as android TV basically.
Some apps as them bundled together in apk, is there a way to grab the android TV version?
so, my goal is to run waydroid (android on Linux) and be able to cast YouTube videos to the YouTube app for android tv. waydroid is essentially, an android compatibility layer for Linux. It runs atop lineage, and allows you to run android apps on Linux. my goal is to be able to cast youtube from my phone to my linux computer via waydroid, and lineage. Not sure about what the simplest way of doing so would be. would it make sense to spoof lineage to an android tv box? can that even be done? is there a way to install android tv specific apps onto lineage? the linegae os build i'm using comes with GAPPS, but i don't know how to install the youtube app for google tv.I've even thought about building lineage from source, but i'd only do that as a last resort. Again, i'm trying to cast youtube from my phone to essentially a stock android lineage, rather than casting from my phone to a chromecast. I've thought about using smarttubenext, and some other similar apps, but i want full youtube cast support, meaning not having to pair with a tv code.
Does anyone have any idea on how to install youtube for android tv on top of a semi-standard lineage build?
