Bug in PE ROM - Moto G6 Guides, News, & Discussion

May be it isnnot the right pleace, but I'm supposed to interedused something so https://wiki.pixelexperience.org/ rom for Moto G6 Ali, has a bug sim card is always in airplain mode, so the problem is in the meta inf folder. To make it work who wants to use it same OS as Google Pixel devices shoud to change meta inf folder with the same from https://sourceforge.net/projects/co...e-ali-UNOFFICIAL-20220601_142755.zip/download , in ProtonPlus-SnowCone-ali-UNOFFICIAL-META-INF\com\android\metadata is the place where no Moto G6 users shroud to exchange the divece info with the same which they used.......Moto G6 in Republic of Bulgaria, excuse me if the problem is because, Google Cell isnnot still here.
The battery drains quickly, instantaneous sanctioning by the network, in my opinion.

[Q] How is the Network Operator determined?

Hi Android-Guru's,
I need some help to research a weird issue that is happening for me on almost ANY custom ROM - mostly CyanogenMOD based, but it is consistent as well throughout all current KitKat builds including AOSP and MOKEE.
What happens is, regardless of which network operator I am connected to, the phone in status-bar and settings menu will always show my SIM card operator (Telekom.de). Even when I go to manual network selection menu and the list of operators is retrieved, I get a list of 6 x Telekom.de
Now the argument is correct, that this is cosmetic, it becomes tricky for me when I go abroad - which I do on a daily basis. So selecting the correct foreign network operator is crucial to save on roaming charges e.g. LUXGSM may be cheaper than TANGO, etc. however, I have no way to properly determine that, since the list will simply show 5 entries with "Telekom.de".
I have a XT925 (RAZR HD) and this works perfectly fine on stock. It works also perfectly fine on the early (10.2) CM releases. At some point starting with 4.3 firmware iterations, I started seeing the "wrong" - I researched google for hours and was directed to compare various eri.xml, spn-conf.xml and decompiled the framework-res.apk to see if maybe the methodology for displaying carrier name had changed between working and non-working builds, but couldn't find any difference.
So, since there are probably enough XT925 users out there, what are you seeing? Could this be related to my sim card which is fairly old (4-5years)? Where do I find the code behind carrier display in android?
appreciate your help,
Stefan

thanks for the feedback and the suggestion, Dorian - I tried it, but takes me to the regular network selection screen in the settings that just displays the list of "Telekom.de's" but good thought.
I wonder, what is different with my setup - might this be a baseband or modem issue?
I realized, that my phone number in status screen shows as "unknown" as well - but IMEI shows correctly, not sure if that is related.
still looking actively for an answer.. I tried to go back to stock with RSD Lite to see if any of my baseband or modem files is screwed, but I couldn´t get RSD to recognize my phone.. probably an indication that my device has some kind of issue!?
Anyone any ideas?

[Q] Moto G and Moto G 4G LTE - WiFi problems, bad signal and no internet

Hey guys. I'm "new" here on xda. I've been using this website from the shadows for years, but today I just can't solve this problem by myself.
The thing is, I owned a Moto G 2013 (16Gb) 2 years ago. Stock 4.4.4 KK, no problem at all. And I decided to OTA update it to LP 5.1.1, and after that, apply the NX ROM. Everything works just fine, not a single problem.... until my brother got a Moto G 4G LTE (1st gen) this Christmas.
He was 4.4.4 stock. The phone was from GB (not our country), Tesco version and it said it had no update to Lollipop, so I updated it with TWRP with original OTA firmware. Everything, again, okey (strangely, there is no 5.1.1 update available, anyone correct me if I'm wrong).
THE PROBLEM starts when we both use our phones at home, over the same WiFi network. If I have WiFi ON, and he doesn't, my phone internet is working. But if we both have the WiFi ON, randomly, one of the two will have working internet and the other will not.
I thought it's our ROMs the problem. I reverted to stock, recoveries, firmwares, radios, EVERYTHING. I got crazy finding a solution (I searched for solutions on Google in 3 languages). And right now, I just have the two phones, one next to the other, doing a web searching comparison, and as said:
- imagine my Moto G is "A" and his Moto G is "B"
- "A" and "B" with WiFi on
- Searching for Youtube with Google Chrome app
- "A" works, "B doesn't"
- I turn off "A" WiFi, and instantly, "B" internet is working again
This drives me crazy, because we live in the same house, single router. We have a 50Mb real WiFi connection, set at Auto channel, channel width and 11bgn mixed mode. I tried using fixed channel, 20Mhz width channel, only 11n... nothing works.
We have other devices, a Samsung, a Sony and 4 PCs, and everybody has good internet, except our Moto G's when used at the same time. We have no neighbourgs (the only network in 50 meters is ours) so no channel fload from other WiFi signals.
I'm sorry for the wall text, but it just pisses me off that I have tried it everything, for almost a week, and no solution.
Thanks in advance!
Could this be a MAC address collision? Can you see both phones on the router?

Sorry for the delay answer. I think I need to configure the xda notifications thing...
And mate, you are bloody right. The problem was so visible and simple, that I couldn't even think about it. Indeed, both phones have the same MAC adress. How is that even possible? Both phones are from different countries, and I never messed up with the WiFi settings... Strange.
Now that I know where resides the problem... how do I change the MAC adress? I know it has something to do with the "persist" folder, but don't know how to properly change it. I use ES File Manager PRO, and root explorer is set to r/w so it's all ready.
Thanks for the fast reply mate, I already have half the problem solved :fingers-crossed:
Cheers!

Only in my Moto G, but that was way before he got his phone. And the only thing I did was delete the folder and put the one from Lollipop (had the 4.4.4 one, and wifi wasn't working after ROM install).

That pretty much solved my problem! I used Notpad ++ and modified the file on the PC, as apps from PlayStore with hex editing couldn't detect the "persist" folder for some weird unknown reason.
But if anyone gets to read this post, you only have to change by 1 ONLY the last number. If your MAC adress ends in "e6", change it to "e7" and so on (4 times as in the file). The rest let it unchecked.
Thanks again mate. WiFi working properly, as it should. Made a quick test and no WiFi drop. You rock! :good:

Epic GPS not working problem, on MT65xx devices after flashing, can it get a fix?

So you already tried everything that's available on the web to fix your Chinese phone GPS after a stock/custom ROM Flashing, and problably your device is a MT6572, MT6577, MT6582, MT6589(T), MT6592, MT6753 or any other media tek.
You already tried:
1 - The classic method, that shouldn't even be mentioned in a case like this, and felt like an idiot:
* DOWNLOAD EPO AND ENABLE AGPS.
2 - The Plan B Method: Used Faster GPS app to create or manually changed your GPS.config file.
3 - The plan C Method: Deleted mtkgps file and restarted.
4 - The plan D Method: Searched for a NVRAM file on the Web and tried to restore it using MTK Tools.
5 - The plan E Method: You downloaded/replaced the file libmnlp_mt6572 in your system/xbin folder.
6 - The plan F Method: You Downloaded/replaced the files mtk_agpsd from bin folder, agps_profiles_conf.xml from etc folder, android.hardware.location.gps.xml from etc/permissions folder, gps.default.so from lib/hw folder and mtk_stp_gps.ko from lib/modules folder.
7 - The plan G Method: Perhaps you tried some African ritual...
8 - You climbed Mount Fuji to get some signal, and had to keep your screen ON in the GPS APP during 2 hours.
9 - You tried some Native Indian ritual...
10 - You hacked you GPS Antenna, building a custom one as it is shown YouTube tutorials, and it works... for the guys who made the videos.
Your GPS was working before flashing, even if weak, so you know your hardware is not broken or something.
11 - You tried to transform into Mumm Ra the ever living!
12 - Like me, it's been over 1 week since you decided to fix this issue, and you're about to pull all your hair. In my case I'm spending hours on this, I'm really trying to get a solution.
AND NOTHING WORKED AFTER DELETING, REPLACING, DOWNLOADING.
You even learnt and tried using EXPELLIARMUS!!!
Still didn't work...
And your GPS still can't get a lock, even with all the network aid, all the tutorials you found in the web. If you religious, you even asked Jesus to help you (At least that was my case). But your phone is still the same.
Now you feel like an idiot that is never, ever again going to buy another Chinese phone anymore in your life, but you don't want to discard your phone, what you're going to do?
Well I -- STILL -- haven't found a solution, but I found a clue that may lead to a solution. Since I'm not a smart ass programmer that knows basically everything about Androids, I humbly come here now to open this discussion and see if we can finally find a solution for this problem that I believe it already annoyed at least 1 hundred people around the globe.
My clue is:
1 - I saw some people saying that when they restored their NVRAM backup after flashing the stock ROM, they got their GPS working again. So it is related to NVRAM, but with what in NVRAM?
2 - Today I was testing some hacks, when I disabled my SIM card, I the GPS TEST app could not find any satellites anymore, and I was using wifi, so it makes no sense at all, I mean, could the GPS be using the 3G/GMS/WCDMA band?
I believe the GPS device is operating in a different frequency, probably the same as the SIM CARD, and that's why people can't get a lock.
That's related to NVRAM. Perhaps with the 900/2100 and 850/2100 operator frequencies.
Let's discuss and see if we can find a definitive solution for this case, please.
Found this in another forum:
we were discussing this point also in the thread regarding unlocking the 3G bands.
it seems that neither the NVRAM nor the ROM alone has much effect regarding to the GPS, but it seems that if either one does not match the other you can also have trouble with your GPS.
how it's connected i do not know - actually as you said it should not be connected at all.
but it's pretty much clear now that the 850/2100 and 900/2100 phone have at minimum different radio hardware.
We were not able to determine how the bands were locked/opened through the firmware (since it would make sense that in theory both are available but can be turned on or off by the manufacturer, because its more expensive for MTK to produce actually different radio hardware) so that suggest that there is a hw difference. that could be connected to the GPS also.
in other threads people had reported that by upgrading the firmware they nuked their NVRAM (lost IMEIs, changing MAC address etc.) and most of them had problems with the GPS afterwards.
better safe than sorry. if you really want to try this out, please make sure to have a working backup of your NVRAM beforehand.

VoLTE/VoWiFi device model spoofing when device not allowed by carrier

Hi,
I've got several devices with VoLTE/VoWiFi capacity (like Xiaomi mi 9T Pro, OnePlus 8T, Xiaomi Mi 9 SE, Google Pixel 3...), but that are not supported by my carrier (Orange France). They only allow it for the devices on this list, according to tests they performed in their lab to ensure there aren't any issues to register them on their network :
https://reseaux.orange.fr/famille/appels-wifi
However, the other carriers in France I tested (SFR and Bouygues Télécom) are allowing these devices to have VoLTE/VoWiFi (I used both sim slots, and I have LTE data access on both. It's always the non-Orange SIM which can make LTE or Wifi calling).
Does someone know how to fake my device model in a carrier perspective ? I tried Device Faker plus and Android faker (on this thread : Android Faker) Xposed modules (on different LineageOS versions with Magisk installed and Riru/LSXposed loaded), but it's quite hasardous to make any random changes, without being sure which one could be effective to change.
Thank you in advance if someone has a solution !
Hi,
I'm sorry to answer so late but i just subscribe to orange, and i have a poco f3, i think this device isn't compatible with this carrier, and i want to know if you find a way to get it work.
Thank you

If the carrier doesn't support the device, there is nothing you can do.
No, sorry, I didn't find anything. It seems all you can do is related to play store, and so on. I was able to fake my phone model to be able to install certificates from my company (for emails sync, through exchange), but that's it. It seems it's handled directly by the chipset, and you won't be able to change that within Android.
A year later, I'm on the same boat. Is there anything new around this?

Question Network and finger print issues

UPDATE: $20 TO HOWEVER CAN SOLVE MY NETWORK ISSUE (WITHOUT ROOT)-- AND IF YOU SOLVE FINGERPRINT THEN GOD BLESS, XDA IF THAT'S NOT OK PLEASE ADVISE!
Hello ya'll, just bought a used rog 5 phone 16g/256 it is the I005DA, I updated it to the latest firmware manually and this is what it reads 18.0840.2111.200, the build number starts with WW_
the main issue is the the unstable connection, I have t mobile and I keep getting very slow internet, and sometimes the whole signal drops , and it keeps switching between E,H,3G and 4G and never 5G even though other devices in the house have very stable 5G connections , and they're on the same plan as I am. Also, the fingerprint option is messing ( not the main issue)
Solutions I tried for the network issue:
1-contacted T-mobile and edited the APN settings to the preferred one's
2- Dialed *#*#4636#*#* and tried changing the network preferred network type, the device has it at NR/LTE I tried GSM only
3- Turned on 5G and set the preferred as 2G/3G/4G/5G
4- Read some stuff about changing the network band, but I couldn't figure that out
5-VOLTE is turned on
Nothing Worked, Please help with this issue I'm very close to loosing my mind on this.
In regards to the finger print, it shows under biometrics but it's greyed out.
Kindly give detailed answers as I'm not a tech savvy person, and may need further explanation. Here are a couple of pictures showing the the issues

On the back of the device, What's mentioned ?
Tencent Games or Republic of Gamers ?
A photo will help too. I feel like it's a bad CN to WW convert, as I've seen fingerprint getting disabled in incomplete conversions.
Network issues can be solved with the correct MBN file.

I searched a bit about the MBN on XDA, and your name popped up, if the process is even remotely close to what you were trying to do on that thread, then I guess I'm better off getting another device, I didn't even understand 5% of what was talked about, I guess I rank as -1000000 in noob level, rest in peace ROG 5, I dream that didn't come true
UPDATE: SELLING IT.
after reading multiple threads on this, looks like if you have the I005DA version, then you're out of luck in regards to phone network, it has very limited 4G coverage and no 5G, at least in my area, the max download speed I got on band 4 700 MHZ is like 17 mbps. So I'm selling mine, as I bought it for Performance/ connectivity/anesthetics and batterly life NOT GAMING, selling it for $450, shipped within the U.S if anyone wants, it will make a great gaming device.

Hey, Sorry - I was offline for a few days.
So you have a CN version which is converted to a WW firmware - which explains why your fingerprint function is disabled.
Also, You'll need the correct MBN file to be uploaded to the device NV folder to access 5G / VoLTE.
I have a MBN collection - let me know your country and operator name - I can find it for you.
If you have decided to sell it, By all means - go ahead and get a WW device.
The same place where your device says Tencent games - a proper WW device would say Republic of Gamers.
Those trouble - free and you do not have to bother with MBN / conversion etc issues.

I really appreciate your help,
I have it listed on ebay, no bidders though
If the network issue is fixable I'll definitely keep it.
I live inthe U.S and my carrier is t-mobile.
So how complicated is this process? FYI, I'm noob level when it comes to this kindastuff? Is it a one time thing, or do you keep updating the files? And do the device need to be rooted?
Thank you so much for your help.
