Question CarPlay on fyt headunit - FYT Android Head Units

Hi all does anyone else have an issue with apple carplay showing pixilation and artefacts on the screen?
Seller is not much help with this issue.

did you resolve the issue? does restart the head unit help?

No couldn’t resolve the problem. Restarting the headunit or phone would clear it but it kept coming back. I’ve since changed to a Teyes cc3 and haven’t had the issue

Thanks for the quick reply, I have the same pixilation problem, not as bad as yours, still useable. just want to check if there's any solution

I did try everything but just couldn’t sort it. Not much on the internet about it but some merc users had it but was fixed with a reboot of the phone.

There is a lot to find about "apple carplay pixelation" on the apple forums like "I pressed the home button and then Apple car play again and the screen went back to normal without losing the route map." Of course this is only a work-around.
Next to that: keep an eye on new releases of the carlink app. The latest version (multiple links in this forum) solves a lot of issues.

Thank you. I did try multiple versions and the seller was sending updated carlink apks but none worked. I also bought a dongle which showed the same issue unless the software was set to software mode and not hardware. Once I did that the CarPlay screen wasn’t as high res but didn’t show any pixelation.

Mine freaked out like that a few times.
I made sure it wasn't on Satellite view, used 5G wifi, and it mostly took care of it. sometimes all it took to clear was pulling down the menu on the head unit or dismissing the lower menu bar or similar.

And you both tried it on wireless and via USB?
I can imagine that wireless is the nicest one, but if a USB cable solves "everything", I would still use it. Maybe not for a 5 minute drive, but certainly for over an hour. It takes just as much time to connect/disconnect as to use one of the work-arounds during the trip (and maybe multiple times).

Yeah tried wireless 2.4ghz, 5ghz and wired with different cables.

Mine never connected via USB. I think only one of my USBs alllows that, and I chose the wrong one when piping it through to the front camera (i'd have to connect to it behind the glovebox)
I don't use carplay anymore since getting a DPI changer to make google maps actually usable on the screen. Before it was too small. wish I could set resolution by app or some kind of zoom mode for maps.

I agree about the dpi. I’ve changed mine to around 622 so that apps are more useable on the road.

Yeah, I had that too. Mine has 3 USB connections, but one seems not functional (or is that one the OTG? I did not even try, to be honest). 2 are in the glovebox and the 3rd behind the glovebox connected to my DAB+ antenna.

File transfer over USB?

I can't seem to get MTP working with the phone. Whatever cable I use, including the OEM cable, the phone just starts charging. USB settings in Settings -> Connected devices are greyed out. On every other phone I ever used, when connected via USB, a notification shows up asking what to do with the connection (charge, MTP, PTP, etc.), said notification is not here. Anyone else having the same issue?
Edit: googled around, might be an Android issue. Nice. I guess I'll have to use the 3.5mm jack to listen to music in my car now, great.

And a few more. The only solution apparently *maybe* is to buy a 3rd party cable.
Edit: after writing this post I decided to try again and lo and behold... It works now. For reasons of I don't friggin know. All cables that didn't work before now work just fine for charging and data transfer between my PC and the phone. Unfortunately my car HU keeps disconnecting and reconnecting the USB, which is a bummer because that's the reason I actually care about file transfer.
I am using Android Pie on my Mi A1 from Christmas 2018 and I never had a problem with MTP, it worked fine with all monthly security updates.
Works as expected here for me at least, with the prompt and everything.
Just tried it out for myself on my work laptop. Connected via a 3rd party micro-USB cable with micro-USB-to-USB-C adapter (so one of the more "fragile" ways to connect) and it directly popped up the question of whether to allow file transfers. After that, the phone was normally browsable on the computer and the USB connection notification that allows for mode-switching is present.

Perhaps actually more with the unit in the car.. From my understanding the buggy file-transfer is between the phone and the car's unit?

OnePlus 7 Pro - Cast to Windows 10 "Connect" App - Immediately disconnects

Has anyone had an issue connecting the OP7P (or any other phone) to the Windows 10 Connect app for casting? I've done this with other phones in the past and it's great, but it doesn't seem to be working now.
Everything is setup the way it should be, but when I hit cast and pick my PC, it shows (on both ends) that it connects for a second or two, but then disconnects.
Looking at a logcat, it seems to have something to do with the wifidisplayhals module, but I'm not an expert at reading these. I have the full logcat, if someone thinks they can help.
Some info:
- Windows 10 build 1909
- Current Broadcom Bluetooth drivers (phone won't stay paired to PC either)
- Current wireless drivers
- TP-Link M9 mesh WiFi
Thanks!
Did a quick search. It seems like the Miracast support in the OnePlus 7 Pro doesn't work. There are lots of users with the same issue. https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/screen-mirror-miracast-broken.1158039/

Thanks for the reply. I saw some of those threads, but they were usually in reference to casting to a TV. I honestly defaulted to it being a windows issue, lol. I can't even connect to my PC via bluetooth. It does the exact same thing.
Well, hopefully the cause is related and hopefully they fix it.

No problem. Yeah from the quick searches I did, it used to be supported in 6T and below very well but was left out of 7 (or poorly implemented, not sure). Unfortunately it's one of those features that not too many people use, but the people who use it find it very valuable!

I agree. I have tried several apps to mirror my screen on the PC, as I'd like to pick up the phone as little as possible. I don't think it will be a perfect solution, as with the other apps I've tried, I couldn't interact with the phone while the screen is off. I've been using the Microsoft Your Phone app, which is actually pretty good... but seeing the screen on the PC would be amazing.

Bluetooth auto-reconnect issues

I have OP7 PRO running android 10 and stock Oxygen OS (not root).
When I pair my device to my car bluetooth set everything works fine, but once the connection is lost it will not auto-reconnect the next time i'm in my car.
Moreover, in order to connect again i need to do the pairing again (not just select the device from the existing devices list).
I saw tons of threads online about this with no solution, some mentioned they think it's an issue with android OS and not the phone itself (this is supported by the fact that my wife just got a new Xiaomi and have the exact same problem).
Does it make sense that this is a global Android issue and has no fix for such a long time? did anyone experience it and managed to fix it?
I would guess at an issue with the car Bluetooth. May be theres a firmware update for that ?

That was my first thought, but it seems that the issue is on the device side as i can see that after connecting the device doesn't appear in the previously connected devices list.
As if the phone forgets it for some reason.
I've had occasional problems too. I'm using Launcher 10. Just last week, I turned on my wifi before starting my car as usual. It connected, then disconnected 2 times and then was stable. There's been times where I'll restart my car to fix it. It's irritating but who knows what can be done about it.
I have a rooted stock op7pro and I have a Samsung active2 watch that randomly disconnects and reconnects once or twice an hour. I have battery set to all Samsung apps on my phone to not optimize battery usage and I have no idea why it does this.
Sent from my OnePlus7Pro using XDA Labs
I have understood that it's also possible that it depend on the order in wich you connect.
You should first have to connect the car to the phone instead of the phone to the car.
Iow have the car lookup the phone
Yes, i head a lot about people with flaky connection but i hope that was the situation, for me it won't reconnet 100% of the times.
Changing the order of connections didn't work.

[Junsun V1] Unable to use CarPlay over USB

Hi all,
First, thank you for all the job everyone does here. I'm new to this forum, so I hope I am posting in the right category and I respect the post format.
I am posting here because I recently bought a Junsun V1 (non pro) for my Mazda 2 on Aliexpress, but after one week of back and fourth with their support chat, I am unable to use Carplay over USB (not even talking about wireless).
First, I wasn't even seeing their "phonelink" app icon, which is needed to use Carplay over USB. After some exchanges with the support, they suggested me to "show" the icon using the secret menu 8888 beucase it was apparently hidden by default. And indeed, it was. So I was able to get the icon to show on the home screen, but every time I tried to open it, it would show "loading..." for ~15 seconds then close itself without saying anything.
I am using the original 4-pin USB cable, and also tried with the 6-pin one, without success. I also tried several lightning cables, and even with another iPhone (but my actual phone can use carplay in another car which had built in) but I can't manage to get it working. I have tried messing with the advanced USB settings, enabling carplay in the "engineer menu" (code 8877) enabling debug, but nothing works. I have also tried doing a factory reset, and the Junsun support sent me a firmware update, which didn't solve the problem.
I have found this post on XDA Developers of somebody mentioning the same kind of issue, but they seem to have fixed it by doing a factory reset, but in my case that didn't change anything.
I'm a little desperate to find a solution to this problem and even wonder if my unit doesn't have the necessary hardware to run CarPlay as apparently, the non-pro Junsun V1 didn't support it previously.
that's why I came to see if anyone has already had or seen this problem and would have a possible solution to give me. Otherwise I will turn to buying an external CarPlay dongle.
Thanks in advance and best regards !
Is it an MTCD type device, post Android system info with MCU version.
Don't hope, have a read through the forums.

Question Bluetooth connectivity issues

I have been experiencing issues connecting to devices over Bluetooth. Sometimes it just works, other times it doesn't work at all, and some times it kinda works but not right.
All of these issues are resolved by restarting the phone, but that isn't a solution because the issue comes back.
3 Devices I have been having issues with
1. S Pen - Sometimes it won't connect to the phone, I get an "S-Pen Missing" message and it will not connect. If I t ry to connect to it manually via nRF Connect (The Nordic Semiconductors Bluetooth App) it tells me that the BLE device has a GATT error. It happens semi-randomly but I can always make it happen by doing #2
2. Car Stereo - This is the weird one, it will connect and play music, but it will not do "calls" if I connect to Discord it won't recognise the car as a Bluetooth device it can route to.
3. Raspberry Pi - This one it appears it will connect to ONCE, and then after a disconnect it will not connect again.
Again, each of these can be fixed by restarting the device, but they happen again after a while. The pen & RPi use BLE, I don't know what the car uses for calls.
Turn off global power management completely in Device Care.
Network reset, reboot and clear system cache from the boot menu.
Ok, I've done a network reset, and cleared the cache partition. I checked Device Care for something like global power management, and I couldn't find anything. Most of the pwm settings are off except the "optomise daily" setting.
I'll let you know later if I have the same issue again.
These, this is a N10+ running on Pie.
To check if you have disabled global power go to Developer options>standby apps, all buckets should show as active otherwise power management is enable.

Are those the only three devices you connect via BT? What other apps do you use that need to use BT (i.e. Galaxy Wear, Apple Music, etc.).
You mentioned "Nordic Semiconductors Bluetooth App." I looked it up. Why do you need a third party generic BLE connecting app? It seems to me that could be the problem. You shouldn't need a third-party app to connect your BLE devices. The S22U's native pairing will work with any BT device that adheres to BT standards.
Try uninstalling the nRF Connect app and see what happens.
The only other Bluetooth devices I have are other in-house hardware, running on SiliconLabs BGM13P chips or NRF52840 chips...
The NRF app isn't a replacement for your bluetooth pairing app, its a debugging app... it can connect to BLE devices and show their GATT profiles, update devices that have Nordic's OTA update code and copy a devices GATT profile to act as a BLE Server.
We use it for testing and debugging.

Ok. I recommend uninstalling nRF Connect anyway. If anything, to rule out the app. How old is your car and the Raspberry Pi? Even though BT 5.2 is backwards compatible, sometimes older BT devices won't work with newer devices. That doesn't account for the S Pen issue though.
I uninstalled nRF connect, and changed all the settings you both recommended. Exactly the same behaviour when I went to leave work. My car stereo would do music but not calls, then when I restarted my phone, it worked. Then when I got home, my S Pen would not connect to my phone, then I restarted my phone and it worked.
Its not a problem of not being compatible, its a problem of something stops working.
Please also note that these devices worked fine together in the past. I am concered that it is either a change made by an update or a Bluetooth chip that is faulty....
OP- Have you debloated at all and if so maybe you've removed something relevant that might be causing these issues?
No, stock image, no OS modification beyond the things that Samsung offers (GoodLock and Stock customisation)
I have our in-house apps for interacting with our equipment (over Bluetooth) installed, but #1 they shouldn't affect anything if they are not open and #2 they don't do this to ANY of our other test equipment.
I would just like to say, that I appreciate the assistance that you are all offering! I have used many forums over the years when looking for support on things and I rarely find a place that is more ready to try and help than XDA forums!

I've seen the issue of the spen disconnecting but only a couple of times and the issue worked itself out within a couple of minutes with me not having to do anything.
I've also have had a couple of wonky issues when connecting a new Samsung phone to my car. I've narrowed down my issue to the fact that when I transfer my data & settings via Samsung smart switch, it includes the details of my Bluetooth pairings. To fix it, I have to go in and delete my Bluetooth phone settings from the car and from my phone and re-pair them.

As cool as I think Smart-Switch is as a program, I actually never use it when moving from one phone to another. The junk that Google drags with me from one phone to the next is already too much, I like to use a new device as a chance to do some housecleaning. So no old-data oddities here.

Hmmm.. Ok. You're probably right about the suspect causes. I know there is a code you can dial to get into diagnostic mode, I just don't know what it is.
The only other option you can try (as a last resort) is to factory reset it. If it is update caused, a factory reset MAY fix it. If you take it to a service center, send it in for repairs, or do a warranty replacement, they're going to factory reset it, or have you reset it.
have you tried running diagnostics in device care ?
or check with this dc
android
Bluetooth test*#*#232331#*#*

Bluetooth Test Mode*#232331#
I still haven't done a factory reset, but I continue to have the issue.
I have run the BT Test in device care, it always reports good.
I tried the codes, neither of them work as the first one is for vanilla android and the second is for older versions of Samsung firmware.
I've tried completely unpairing from the car radio and re-pairing, disconnecting and connecting from the other device to no avail.

I'm not entirely sold on the idea that it is a hardware fault. It could be a hardware limitation; meaning you cannot connect to more than a certain number of devices simultaneously. I don't know how many BT devices you can connect to at once. I know at least two simultaneous connections (I've only had two simultaneous connections at a time).
You said you have other BT devices in your house other than those three your having issues with. How many are there? How many are you connected to at any given moment?
Is it possible that you have too many simultaneous connections?
When you try to connect to your car.. Did you check under BT connection (your vehicle) to make sure both audio and calls are checked..

Unless having multiple connections causes the BT to fail completely, no. Even after turning the car off and walking away, it still will not connect to the S Pen. The only BT devices I use with that phone regularly are:
S Pen, Car (Music & Calls)
At work I develop devices that use Bluetooth and I sometimes connect to them, but only ever one at a time.
