Question Android 12 Performance on A32 - Samsung Galaxy A32 5G

Just wondering if anybody has noticed a significant performance drop on the A32 after the 12 update? This phone was never a speedster, but now I am noticing significant latency waiting for the keyboard to come up, background apps re-loading more when I bring them to foreground, etc. I am using Nova Launcher, wondering if that has something to do with it..

Nova doesn't help. Factory reset and reload may help. From everything I'm reading 12 is no gem.
Google is getting crushed under their self imposed new OS release every year policy. They should name Android 13 "Veal"

@blackhawk - thanks for the reply! I disabled Nova and am using One UI (yuck) and things are better but not great. I'm sure things run better on a $1k flagship than my $0 A32. Still, interesting to see how much difference an OS release can make. Have a great weekend!

Lucky you guys have Android 12, I'm still stuck on A11 with Cricket Wireless (AIO).
Try getting F-Droid and look for an app called SuperFreezZ, kind of works like the app Greenify but I like this better for non-rooted phones. (Put apps to sleep).
SuperFreezZ App stopper | F-Droid - Free and Open Source Android App Repository
Entirely freeze all background activities of apps.
f-droid.org
I also used Shizuku ADB Rootless interface to debloat system apps, but be careful on which ones you debloat. Look up a thread in that before doing so.
Shizuku
Let your app use system APIs directly
shizuku.rikka.app
I managed to debloat a bunch of junk from Samsung and cricket stuff that's always running in the background and yet the system still uses 1.3GB RAM .
Hopefully this helps with the lag/ram usage on A12.

You could consider rolling it back to 11, many have on many Samsung models because of 12 puking on them. You take a performance hit with scoped storage, no way around that on both 11 and 12. Nova may not be fully updated for 12.
Some are satisfied... WYSIWYG!
I run two stock N10+'s, one on Pie, the other on Q. Neither will likely ever be updated... that's what I think of 11 and especially 12. I never update a OS that is fast, stable and fulfilling its mission. A lot to lose and little to gain. Security simply isn't an issue, but updates are!
That said a new load needs to be optimized to run well. Turn off global power management and deal with power hogs on a case by case basis.
One UI is sweet if you use all the stock customization available. What's not to like?

I haven't noticed any performance drop between Android 11 and Android 12, but I had a bad experience (explained here) updating my T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy A32 5G from Android 11 to 12 (on both OneUI and Nova so it wasn't due to the app launcher).
Warning: Google screwed up on upgrading Android 11 to Android 12 on my Samsung Galaxy A32-5G

I updated to Android 12 yesterday and the performance is relatively the same, which I didn't expect. There was only some lag when the first booted after updating Android but a reboot fixed that.
Generally, my experience with Android 12 has been positive. One thing that I didn't like was that Samsung's Material U implemention isn't that good. The colors that it picked were darker than I wanted and not pastel like I had expected

I finally got A12 update for my A32 on Cricket Wireless, so far I do not see any performance bump, pretty much the same stuff besides customizing the slide down menu colors and some minor camera update .... Really wish I could get GCam installed for this device but it's impossible to root this phone now

I install a new app on average once or twice a day because I enjoy testing them out.
Pretty much, I know the best app out there for any particular task that I've done as a result.
And none of my apps are Google based or have ads if I can help it, and certainly I pay for none since I find the best free apps out there, usually FOSS.
Just ask if you need to find the best app for any task but bear in mind I can't root my Samsung A32-5G due to the bootloader version so they're all non-root apps - and every single one is free - and only one or two have ads - but still they're all best that exist for the tasks I've done.

Oppo r15 Pro Android P

Anybody got it to work?
I'm over Coloros already (sick of the security, want vanilla android)
I downloaded Android P but it says Flash Failed when I try to flash it in (Coloros) recovery.
Yeah, I have it running on mine, but it's the first beta, so a bunch of stuff isn't working, hoping they will release a new rom soon...
What version of the phone do you guys have? Mine is the Australian one from Optus. I assume it doesnt automatically update the beta version like my Nexus 6P did when I enrolled in the program?
I also am getting annoyed with ColorOS as it has broken so many simple things my previous phone did e.g. Google Photos no longer wants to sync, calendar doesnt send me reminder notifications, googles alarm clock no longer works etc.
Would love to flash to stock android that automatically updated and be able to ditch ColorOS as overall the phones hardware seems very decent.
My main concern is the instructions say only Chinese phones should use that upgrade process and its impossible to revert without sending it to service in China. I am an IT Professional but I have never tried to flash with a custom rom in the past so a little wary of bricking my brand new phone =P
My model is CPH1831

Hey there Vyviel,
I have the Oppo R15 Pro CPH1831 also and purchased it outright from JB HiFi a couple of weeks back now - carrier is Telstra.
This is my very first Android device after having shifted over from a 6s Plus... I will say that I personally don't mind this ColorOS business ATM but then again I am unfamiliar with any of this custom ROM business... You are right about the hardware though... for let's say $600 AUD less than the Samsung Galaxy S9 it stands pretty tall in the spec department for the price of $779.
I am also in IT... that is to say that I have been tinkering now for about 15 years and at present I have 4 and a half units remaining on my Bachelor of IT degree.
Like yourself... I have not flashed a custom ROM, rooted an Android based device or recovered back to out of the box state in case one might need to get that all important warranty back in the game if the process manages to kick you in the proverbial sack... so we are in the same boat in not wanting to create a mid range in the expense scale paperweight.
I would really like to know how to do all of this in the safest way possible though and to be quite honest am finding it somewhat difficult to find a great deal of info on this phone.
I'm willing to share a few links that I have found in relation to flashing a ROM on one of these things if you wanna send me a PM (I'm unsure of the legalities of posting links here as I have only just joined XDA)... I'm not 100% sure of what to trust when it comes to the links (one is a Vietnamese site I believe) and all of these processes in general but it would be good to get a second opinion.
Anyways... this post is starting to read a bit like a book so I'll leave it at that for now.
Cheers mate
PS: Nothing against the Vietnamese people intended whatsoever - peace out

You aren't only here buddy, tried flashing my phone as well. Didn't work, got the same error. I think it's for the Chinese version of the phone, I'm not entirely sure.
Agreed, bought phone outright. No carrier/network lock. I've had it a week and also I am over the colour os!! I have had a bit of trouble with compatibility with my other home devices like screen mirroring, cloning/switching device data, Wi-Fi stabilisation etc... But have discovered that most option menus change and have slot more options if you have developer mode active whilst browsing through the setup menus.. Especially with device connections!!
But all in all I think I just want a normal android rom that will look like every other android menus but will utilise this devices nice hardware specs considering it bang for your buck price point!!
Sometimes you have to relise expectations and reality get clouded by hope...
Need Link to firmware - Oppo R15 Pro for latest Android P Beta
I happened to have the Chinese version (I believe). Can anyone post the link to the firmware being discussed on here?

Because the Pixel phones are an absolute ripoff for mediocre hardware. Google lost their way after the Nexus 6P.
Next time I will go for a OnePlus =)
Is it possible to use new android P on the ' OPPO R15 ' ? (not the pro version)
my phone (oppo r15) runs on color os 5.0 so i thought i could update the android version to ' Android P ' so that the chinese version will be gone.. so i can finally use the google app and services, guys does it work on the oppo r15?
Yeah i'm wanting to know this as well! ColourOS seems to be a pretty big limitation although judging on the firmware difference (CPH1835 vs CPH1831) i'm unsure if i can flash Android P yet.. anyone have a definitive answer?

i believe it's because of the money...
I've had the May 2018 P Beta on a R15 Pro Chinese since... forever. It's pure trash, 80% of apps don't work due to mysterious crashes. It has not received an update at all since May 2018.
So now we either use trash ColorOS on which it is impossible to install GPlay on because of weird proprietary security, or we use near-stock but almost useless P beta. Either way it's almost a brick.

now you can get Coloros 6(https://www.coloros.com/topic/coloros6.html)
which has completely different UI from Coloros5.2/5.0, enough of too many bugs in Android P beta also , but things got changed now
They sure are taking their time with coloros 6. Im reading it should have been released in May but still nothing confirmed. I will never buy an oppo again as this is bad. Android Q (10) will be released soon and oppo is struggling to release android 9. What a joke.
Agreed #perryano. Their hardware is fantastic, but this ColorOS BS just destroys the whole experience and controls everything you want to do like the PRC. If I could just run vanilla Android, I would be a happy camper.

Vivo stock experience

Vivo seems to be at the cutting edge of hardware in terms of their biometrics,(in screen fingerprint) and pop up camera tech
But what is the stock software like ?
Do Vivo provide regular support with updates ?
Are their any beta programs ?
I have the Pro and it's been getting quite regular updates so far, but that's to be expected for a newly released phone. Funtouch OS in the V15 is quite good as well, there's some adjustment if you're coming from other flavor but not so much. My main gripe is all of this alternate android like FT, MIUI, etc. seems to be very aggressive with their memory management and goes out of their way killing processes, even when specifically told not to. Also because of the closed source nature, virtually no ROM customization and root is possible

[Mi MIX 3] MIUI 11 and Android 10

Hi, i think almost everyone here heard about the upcoming MIUI 11 update (rolling out from middle October in China). I'm pretty excited about that, but i have a question i cannot answer myself. Will the MIUI 11 come with the new OS Android 10 or will it come just as it is without OS update? I'm asking that because of two things:
1) I've read somewhere that Xiaomi already confirmed Android 10 for our device.
2) Instead the MIUI 11 Beta, avaible in China, is actually based on Android Pie
So...what are your toughts about that? Feel free to answer!

this is true for beta version, (mi-Globe / EUROM)
yes im already on MIUI 11, but it still based on Android 9 no doubt.
but the introduction of new features makes you want to use this ROM more and more (personal opinion)
system-wide dark mode still misses some notif/popup windows (its still on light)
AoD new styles are great, very artistic
they said MiShare is faster, cant feel it. but its not slow. i think it feels the same as V10
and the other features were there just before we hit MIUI 11. I guess this would benefit the stable users more.
its actually not a night and day change. you kinda appreciate those little adjustments. icons, stuff like that. not much for themes tho
its one of those regular updates that you want to jump into. and yea its kinda pretty cool.

Hi, thanks for the feedback. I'm sure i'll like it too! Just hope they'll push Android 10 before Android 11 lol. I'm okay with Pie, it works good and has a HUGE amount of apps and will support them for long time for sure. On the other hand, this device in Global version was born with Pie so...would be nice to see at least one major update. I've heard somewhere that Xiaomi launched Mi MIX 3 with Oreo in China so basically Android 10 would be the last OS update even in EU/Global version because of some strange thinking about their update politics

what's good about with Pie is that, stereo speaker mod is still working, and maybe it wont work on 10. still enjoying the mod
For now i'm not planning to mod my device, when support will be dripped, then il'll explore again the modding world

This is so true. I've learnt the lesson with Honor 8. They wanted to kill the device but after a lot of time and people's petition they finally released oreo. Now i'm at the first experience with Xiaomi but as i've read around they're used to update frequently their devices. Don't know so much abouth their policies about updates though, so we can say i'm just hoping that the "Two major updates" rule will be followed

It usually gets to a point when a device is dead unless community keeps it alive. And that is awesome. I actually choose my devices partly attending to their development support. I still have my old hammerhead, 5 or 6 years on, and it is running nice pie roms and surely some 10's will come. Last google firmware is marshmallow. That is really cool
Still, of course it is good and nice that a newish devices keeps being updated by OM.
In my case, more than android version I wish xiaomi updated kernel source, but that is way too far fetched I'm afraid.
Right now I'm using MIUI 11 9.10.11 beta version and it's based on Android 10. I'm on the MIX 3 Android 10 close beta group and get updated everyday. This rom is quite stable and the only bug I found is the incorrect display of RAM which has no influence on my daily using. Magisk worked perfectly and I got 68HZ display so smooth XD.

Best rom for newbie, with hopefully updates for the many years to come?

Hi!
So i have a Pixel 2, not receiving security updates anymore for over a year and it's probably time to do something about it. Never flashed it or any other phones for that matter. I use exclusively Linux (I don't have access to any Windows machines). My wife has a Pixel 3, so it'll probably need the same 'fix', though she uses a lot of apps for the play store, I don't much.
A few questions to start:
- is play store access kept?
- Any stupid-proof guide to do that with my lack of experience?
- Which ROM should I go for?
I use mainly some chat apps, Google 2FA, my banking app, some IOT original apps for setup with home assistant, google photos which i could probably replace (not a photo guy).
Thank you for your help in the matter.
I would say that Lineage OS would be your best bet but I would caution that some bank apps are very particular and you may want to think about moving onto a new phone if you are serious about longevity.

This. If you need working SafetyNet, your best bet is to continue to use a stock ROM. Since Pixel devices are only supported for 3 years, you may want to consider upgrading to a new device. I upgraded from the P2 to the P5, and upgraded my wife's P3 to the 5a. Google often has sales associated with new device releases; we paid $400 for my wife's 5a, then got a $73 credit for her P3.
I am also a newbie and was really interested in crDroid or ProtonAOSP. Does anybody have an opinion on that?

Question Will it be possible to get an AOSP Rom for galaxy watch 4

Will we be able to get an clean Rom, without Samsung debloat stuff. Similar to AOSP roms on phone ,pixel extended like but only for watch . I like the SG4 but it has to many bloat on it and since I don't have a Sammy phone and mostly run AOSP roms would be cool to see a complete Samsung free Rom ,without having to buy the pixel watch .
Well you can certainly debloat the watch using adb commands (or using adb app control) and remove a lot of stuff from the watch, but as for actually changing roms, it's very doubtful. @adfree is working on rooting the watch but it's really slow going and there's no official firmware or software released for it so if you brick it, it's done.
The Oppo Watch 3 Pro that I got last month, that runs the new 4nm Snapdragon W5 Gen1 runs off of AOSP. IMHO, beats every wear os 3 watch out there. The only thing I want/trying to do is to get Google services running off the thing. I currently get about 5-6 days of battery with normal use!

With Google services it would be 3-4 days which is the same as Galaxy Watch5 Pro and Ticwatch 3 Pro already have.
