My phone is jacked up. I'm trying to install a ROM off of a micro SD card with a phone only. I have no access to a PC. I don't care if it's a custom ROM or factory rom. The main thing is I have no access to a PC. Only my j337v and a micro SD. Can anyone point my n00b ass in the right direction and walk me through it please. I'm willing to pay for help. Thank you

Okay...maybe it's not the stupidest question, but it's gonna be right up there.
I bought an Aria today. Let it be know that I've had HTC phones for 5 years and was very active in Windows Mobile ROM development. I'm not daft. But I feel like I've been dropped into the middle of Bangkok with Android, so please forgive me.
I've rooted and have Clockwork installed. I'm attempting to install ATTN1's Liberated Aria (Eclair) ROM.
And here's the stupid question:
How the FORK do I copy the downloaded ZIP file to my SD card?
I know, I know...it's stupid. But I can't seem to find it anywhere. My phone has USB debugging turned on. It's running in Disk Drive mode. But when I navigate to it, there's no folder for the SD card, no hint of the SD card anywhere. What am I supposed to do? Go buy one of those adapters so I can stick this microSD card into my card reader and THEN copy it?
If anyone feels like convincing me of exactly how idiotic I am, I'm ALL EARS!

So I'm just guessing that this is what you're confused about. I apologize if I'm telling you what you already know.
When you put the phone in disk drive mode, the folder that comes up for the disk drive IS the SD card. Disk drive mode is the same as taking the SD card out and putting it in your computer, just without the hassle. You can't access the internal memory through this method.
I'm no expert either, but doesn't it download to downloads folder in the sdcard. You could use something like astro to check the folders. Or are you trying to copy it from pc? Try downloading on the phone.

Hmmmm... I suppose it would make sense that the drive I see on my laptop as the phone is actually the SD card. And when I went into Recovery to install the ROM, I did see an option to install SDcard/update.zip. However, I don't think that was the ROM because I still got the AT&T animations. So I guess I'm back to square one. I'll attempt to download the file directly on the phone....
Perhaps...just perhaps...I have succeeded! I had to download from the browser on the phone. Copying from my laptop to the SD card did not work. (Or, at least it did not provide me with the option to install the zip file from the SD card until I had downloaded the file directly onto the phone using its browser.)
If you use the option to install update.zip, keep in mind that your rom must actually be named 'update.zip.' Once you put the rom on your SD card, you should have selected the option that allows you to choose the zip file you want to flash. Just for future reference.

Ha Ha! Now you know what it like to be a noob. Sometimes things are so obvious and routine to us that we forget that it can be confusing to others just starting out. You have to be patient and sensitive to peoples questions.
So, i was trying to pull my micro SD card out on the subway, and it flung away and into oblivion. Could not find it. It was an 8GB card that had nothing really important on it, accept for my clockwork mod and all my root-stuff/nandroid backups.
I'm currently running Prime 1.7, but if I buy a new card, will I have to re-root my device? I dont want to loose my setup..
No, you do not have to root your Transformer again. Just buy a new SD-card, and use it. That's all.
Do I need to move any files onto the card? like CWM and such? Does it need any type of formatting?

You can format it if you want to(it's optional but I always format a new sd card) but no need to move anything to it.
Good idea to run a nandroid backup since you lost all that with the old card.
I always keep backups of my Nandroids on my PC. You might consider that for the future. If it had been your phone or tablet that flew away you could just flash back on a replacement.
A little advice plz. I rooted my phone & am running several different roms thru boot manager so i'm not new at this but i haven't switched from my stock 8g card that came with my inspire so i'm not familiar with the process of switching my data to the 16 gig card & partitioning it. Or when to partition it, before or after i add my data back onto the card? Can someone plz help me switch to my 16g card correctly plz? Sorry for the bother but i just want to do it right. My cpu is down so if there's a way to do it without a cpu that'd be even better but if not, i'll find one. Thanks friends! :')
Edit: since my cpu is down i was thinking of letting AT&T transfer my data but didn't know if they'd be able to see that i'm rooted or if it's all automatic thru their system...

Att doesn't care. They just won't let you exchange it if its rooted. But for you card you can just transfer over what you want and then pop it in. You should be able to add partitions even when it has data on it. Would be a good idea though to keep a backup of your sd card on your pc so that if something does go wrong you can just drag stuff back over.
Use a friends computer to copy the card.
Thanks alot guys. I did it the long way by using root explorer to copy the files from sd to a folder, moving it to the internal storage, popping in the new card & moving the folder back to the new sd. Long process but seems to be working great & i still have all my original data on the 8g card Thanks for the reply guys! :')
Hi all. I'm flashing from Froyo to ICS, using NexusHD2-ICS-4.0.4-CM9-HWA V2.1. I've flashed new radio, MAGLDR etc... with no issues, but when I've come to actually flash the ROM, my SD Card has chosen this second to give up on me. It wouldn't transfer any files etc... using the MAGLDR USB mass storage mode, and now refuses to format it.
So, I assume the SD card is screwed (unless there's some weird setting I've missed?) - basically, my phone obviously won't boot into anything now, it's half past midnight and I don't have any more SD cards on me.
How can I flash this ROM using a bootloader? Is that possible? I vaguely recall using a Bootloader to flash to Froyo from WinMo, rather than an SD card.
Any ideas? I need to get this running very soon, so my phone will work.
Cheers in advance.
(also, I did a search, but I couldn't find an answer. Sorry if it has been answered already).
Alternatively, does anyone know of a NAND ROM with a daf.exe loader? Any will do, just so I can get my phone functional until I get a new SD card.
Thanks.
Fixed it, by going into clockworkmod, partitioning the card, formatting it within CWM, mounting the SD card, then mounting USB storage. Seeeeeems to have worked.
So, feel free to delete. That said, would still be interested in finding an alt. solution to this.
Hello, I am having a bit of a problem with .obb files and my internal storage, and any help you can give would be appreciated.
To begin, I must say that I am pretty much a complete novice when it comes to rooting, modding, and anything else having to do with nay unconventional use to android tablets, although I am an experienced pirate and know how to install modded games/apps and where to find them.
That being said, I did download adb, and I figured out how to use it to make a 128gb micro sd card function as internal memory - and as my only current tablet is an ASUS Z300M with only 16gb of space (and most of that taken up with bloatware), I am happy about that. But I have run into a problem - while I can install or move apps or games to the Micro SD card, the .obb files remain in the main hard drive of the tablet. I like to download lots of games, so this is killing me.
I have heard that I can use Magisk to move the .obb files into the Micro SD card and have the tablet actually recognize them there, but honestly, I have absolutely no clue how to do that, and all the guides I have seen on the web just send me down rabbit holes talking about twrp, flashing, fastboot, and other things that make it seem like anything I try will wipe my tablet completely or direct me to a site where they want me to take a survey and steal my credit card information. Can some kind person please walk me through the steps on how to use Magisk (or anything else) to get my ASUS Zenpad Z300M to recognize obb files on my micro sd card so I don't run out of space multiple times a day anymore?
Thank you n advance for any help you can give.

That isn't how it works here, we don't lead anyone by the hand step by step and we don't spoonfeed anyone. You do your own searching and reading and then ask questions about what you don't understand.
First, as the guides instruct, you can flash TWRP custom recovery onto the device and then flash Magisk to root the device using TWRP, then make your modifications to your .obb files.
Or, you can flash a modified boot.img and then install Magisk to root the device, then modify your .obb files.
Choose the method you are most comfortable with, research how the method works and then ask questions about the parts of that method that you don't understand.
