VPN client for WM6.5 that supports open vpn?

Hi,
As the title suggests, I am looking for a vpn client that supports open VPN so I can tunnel all my traffic through it to get around chinese IP blocking. I've dl'd the one found here but it won't open on wm6.5....anyone get this or any other client working to route web traffic through a vpn service? THANKS!!!

because I am in the same situation. I guess other people from other countries too. maybe we start a new thread with this title to discuss about it? Note that I am German, but lived here in Beijing now for 1.5 yrs, always annoyed by the blocking..
I tried everything:
Proxies: I could add proxies in the winmo network config, but it seems either China Mobile blocks proxy connections (is that possible?) or it's winmo's fault. I tried many proxies from various websites and lists..
Windows VPN: Thats what I use on my PC to use Twitter/Facebook/Youtube and blocked news websites. Got my server in Germany running 24/7, and its really fast and stable. On windows mobile: no connection possible. It connects for 5 seconds, but as soon as I try to access internet or mail, it just disconnects. could be the slow EDGE network which is just not supporting constant data tunnels. But I tried with WiFi and it was the same, so.. Mabye I am stupid or my WinMo is. I hope the second, hehe..
Open VPN: The client is 2 years old and I guess thats the problem. Tried it once, but already a while ago. Didn't work as I remember correctly..
Other: There's clients for cisco vpn out there. My university WAS supporting this protocol, and with a cracked client (don't remember the name, just google it), it was possible to connect. At least in Germany. But EGDE/3G/WiFi, all no problem.
So I am in the same situation. I wanna use Twitter, Facebook and maaaany news websites, bought Kinoma Play but CAN'T PLAY, .. so if anyone has an idea here how to route traffic constantly through a different country, please share!

have you found the resolution of wm already? i am using i8000 omnia II with windows6.5. can't find a vpn working method.

openvpn service with ziggurat29 client official support
I've been looking for an open-vpn service which can be supported by an open vpn client for wm.
The only thing I found is the combination Witopia service, with ziggurat29 openvpn client
It looks good, but the only drawback I've found, is that the annual payment is the only subscription option, not suitable for testing purposes.
All you have to do is to first configure the service on a PC, then copy the configuration files to a new configuration file to fit the open-vpn client for Windows Mobile

[Q] Changing IP Address

I wanted to know if there is a way to set from what area your IP shows up as when you connect to the internet on your Android phone?
For instance, I have a T-mobile G2 and when I connect speedtest.net or an IP finding website, it shows the location of my IP address. Usually its close, sometimes its far away.
Is there any way to choose a static IP or range of IP's to narrow down where my IP is located? i.e. can I choose to spoof my IP to show me in another state? I'm rooted running CM6.1 so I'm down for things that need root access.

Its going to show the location where the IP should be.
maxmind.com is a good lookup to see where the IP should be coming from. (background- they are designed for charging websites, your IP says you are in Nigeria, or Flordia, or wherever, but you are having your order shipped to Washington, so we need to check for fraud more carefully, or hulu and not allowing to be viewed outside US - but same applies to any country)
Especially on celluar, its going to depend on the cell network, your phone likely is behind their NAT. If the NAT is in the same city you are, its going to be really close.
Example Rogers in Canada has 2 cities as far as I can tell with equipment in Montreal and Toronto (when I was getting external DHCP addresses it was one of these 2 cities) Now that I have a static external address, I allways show as Montreal even when I'm on the West-Coast. When using the NATted addresses (10.x.x.x) it would allways show as Toronto (or Greater Toronto area) might have been Markham.
To spoof your IP to show you're in another state, I believe Giganews offers a VPN that will be comptable with just about everything, west coast US, east coast US, one in Asia and one in Europe.
This is going off memory, if I'm found incorrect, I'll edit the post.

So basically the VPN settings on Android can accept any VPN address/info that I am signed up for? I don't really know if I wanna pay for a VPN and I know there are free alternatives, especially considering that I dont need any more services than what a free one offers.

Any and all of the free ones I've seen, are designed for computers, PC or Mac, they require software installed.
The reason I mentioned the Giganews VPN service, was because it is the PPTP standard vpn connection, so supported without a software application.
I am interested if you know of free ones that offer this.
Additionally, you also have to check to see if your provider blocks VPN connections on your phone. Rogers does unless you pay extra for a non-NATted IP. So its a trial and error. I know a few providers in the US have a VPN APN, which is designed for people using VPN services. I don't know which block VPN connections by default.
It should be compatible with PPTP and IPSEC VPN services.

Ok so I figured I would post my question here as this thread is already created and has keywords that pertain to my question/problem
Now I provide support for several end users and I need VPN access to their network/machine at a glance for the type of support I provide. I was thinking of something along the lines of something software based that would allow me to access their network (shared files mostly) but I cant think of anything that I can setup one time and not have to worry when they take the laptop/desktop home and their IP address changes or if their firewall is not properly configured.
Any solutions to this particular problem?
I was thinking of something Hamachi like but I do not need remote access I just need file sharing access and network access...

I know that Windows 7 and Server 2008r2 have a dial-less VPN that can be setup, the computer will connect to your VPN service, anytime it is on, and you would be able to share the files that way.
Or users dial the VPN whenever they log in, but that would stop you from connecting remotely after a reboot.
Ideally, they should be connecting to your server, and saving all their files there?
Not enough infomation to actually give you any other ideas, can PM me with what hardware and software you have to work with, mobile devices or not, ect.

What is this?
This is a DHCPv6 Client for Android.
Motivation
Google doesn't support DHCPv6. See: https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=32621
This is an issue for a lot of people especially for corporations and universities because they need control over the IPv6 addresses they distribute.
I did some research and found out that Fairphone already has support for DHCPv6, they achieve this by implementing the wide-dhcpv6 client and added some own scripts around it.
This gave me the idea to play a little with this client. I did so and the result is this app.
Basically it is an implementation of Fairphone's DHCPv6 solution for every rooted Android phone and not just Fairphone.
Workflow
Broadcast Receiver for CONNECTIVITY_CHANGE (invoked when connectivity is changed)
Check if /system/bin/dhcp6c <interface> is running (this is the master process) if not then invoke it
Sending a signal with /system/bin/dhcp6ctl to the master process to get an IPv6 address (dhcp6ctl -C start interface <interface>)
Why is root required?
Root permissions are required for the DHCPv6 client to work because it binds to port 546.

hostname/domain name support?
Installed this on my android TV media box, and it now connects to my DHCPv6 server as expected, and a lease is registered, however it does not supply a host name or domain name. The domain name is advertised by my router, and also supplied as option in DHCPv6 scope.
Are these an android problem, or the DHCPv6 client?

Thanks for the app. Android really needs this. I'm trying to use it on Motorola XT1058 running Lollipop. I can see in the packet capture of my router (OpenWrt) that the DHCPv6 transaction is working and my router is giving out statefully assigned IPv6 addresses to my phone. Unfortunately, these addresses don't get assigned to wlan0 interface on Android. I'm still seeing only stateless addresses on wlan0. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you, as a system administrator it was crazy annoying to not be able to enforce a an IPv6 range for android devices

This app doesn't work until I adb shell into my device and run dhcp6c wlan0 as root manually.

Hello geniuses, ( and I mean that literally, you guys are amazing) I have Direct TV and just got my hands on there Cinema connection kit witch allows me to connect to an internet source wireless-ly. Anywho, the error I am getting is asking for my default gateway, and my DNS, and that is way over my head. Can anyone assist? I am running a rooted Turbo. Thanks in advance!

Hello and thank you for using XDA Assist.
It's unclear what Android-related specific problem you have but if by "Turbo" you mean a Verizon Motorola Droid Turbo, there is a forum specifically for questions about that device at http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-turbo/help where you may want to ask Turbo-related questions.
That said, if the Direct TV device simply needs information about your internet connection, you would need to know the address of your WIFI router (it'll be something like "192.168.0.1") and your default DNS server (maybe "8.8.8.8" for Google DNS?), something whoever installed your internet connection should be able to provide.
If all else fails, try posting with all relevant details in the general forum at http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/general where someone might be familiar with your specific situation.

I appreciate your reply... and yes I was referring to the droid trubo. The internet service I am referring to, however, is my Turbos hotspot. I figured anyone running 4.4 or 5.1, no matter the device could possibly help. I know its possible, and I came very close last night to getting my Direct TV to connect to my phones hotspot. Everything else in my house is connected to my phone, not sure why this won't. I am certain its an address issue, and the default gateway and DNS is the culprit.

Hello again.
If you are connecting though your phone's hotspot feature, then you have to use its address. That information depends on your phone, ROM and which and how many other devices are on the local network you establish, among other factors, but it's probably in the "198.162.?.?" range mentioned earlier and you can probably set "8.8.8.8" (Google) as your DNS provider. One simple way to determine your default gateway's address is to use whatever other phone, tablet, or computer you connect to that hotspot and execute a "traceroute" command. The first entry will be the gateway. I'm afraid I can't tell you how to do that specifically for your device/OS but most all operating systems have a similar command.

Question DNS over internal VPN ?

Hello everyone,
I'm a newbie so, my bad if my question is a non sense to you.
I'm currently renting a server where I installed PiHole and PiVPN. PiHole is a DNS sinkhole that I use for blocking add, and the PiVPN allows all my devices thanks to OpenVPN to get all my traffic through a personal VPN to reach my PiHole.
On PC it's great, even for laptop, because battery life is enough to support the "keepalive packets" that's allow OpenVPN to stay connected to my server even if I'm not using internet directly.
However, on Android, it's the main problem, since I'm using a VPN 24/7, and my battery is melting like snow in the sun. So the question is the following :
How can I setup an internal VPN that's redirect DNS queries to my PiHole (my server got an IP adress that's correspond to my personal DNS-PiHole) ?
I know some applications can work like "that", like AdAway (for non-root smartphone) or NetGuard.
I'm by the way rooted, and already using AdAway which is making the job, but it's more for technical challenge.
