After installing the unofficial ROM CherishOS 3.6 of my phone, I had a sound problem and it led to a decrease in ringtone or even a multimedia program. Even after the official flash ROM, this problem continued. Did the phone have a hardware problem? What should I do to solve it?
This sounds like a hardware issue.
I guess to temporarily fix this, you could attempt to root your device via Magisk and get your hands on ViPER4Android to fix such issues with the speaker (like amping up your speaker's DBs, for example)

I've seem in many related thread, people suggesting using volume + to address the problem. There is an improvement to the speaker volume indeed but no difference to the in call volume or when using headphone (listening to radio for example)
Anyways, my questions is that is there absolutely no way of implementing a fix through kernel? Are the all the kernel devs not experiencing this volume issue? I remember back then when the HD2 was ported from windows mobile to Android, the volume was a problem too but it was eventually solved by the kernel fix. Can something similar be done for the sensation?
This is just a side note. I have another Desire HD and the sound is awesome. By comparing the back, the Sensation's speaker grill is much bigger too.
Just an FYI - In Volume+ there are settings for headsets and an In call setting - this one is in experimental
the volume + settling for speaker works fine, the setting for headset works when playing music of movie via stock media player. (haven't tried compare 3rd party media player) But when listening to stock radio, it doesn't make any difference.
just hope there will be a permanent kernel fix soon.
When stock, unroot and unmodded, bluetooth playback to my Logitech Mini boombox and Motorola S10-HD headphones was decent. I did notice a few pops and clicks every so often, but nothing like what it is now that I have rooted and flashed the latest ViperXL stable ROM, ElementX 5.2 kernel and the German 3.17 radio. I've seen a few scant reports of this same issue, but I'm guessing not many stream audio via bluetooth, hence why the issue doesn't get as many mentions as it should. I can confirm it is NOT a hardware issue as the streaming of audio via bluetooth was fine on the stock AT&T ROM. Base ViperXL emitted this issue before ever adding the ElementX 5.2 kernel or flashing the radio, so I'm thinkin' the issue may be with ViperXL.
The static/crackling/popping sound is unaffected by volume changes. Turning the volume all the way down allows for only the artifacting to be heard and turning the volume up doesn't increase this sound, but at least puts the music on part with it so that you can at least drown it out with other ambient noise. It's horrible and only stops when you stop playing the audio. It sounds like clipping that occurs when an equalizer is set too high for the DSP or output device. Is there something written in these ROMs to alter the stock levels? I'm not talking the EQ options such as BEATS, Dolby or Sony Xloud 'cause toggling those on or off have absolutely NO effect on this issue.
I did come across a few posts in the ViperXL thread claiming to disable some chinese variant of the Dolby sound enhancer, but that functionality seems to be gone with newer versions of the ROM, such that I am now on. Disabling ALL sound enhancers does not resolve the issue. I know there's others out there havin' this problem. What would it be in third-party, sense-based ROMs that would cause this issue to exacerbate? Please post your experiences and possible resolutions.
Flashed 2.20 RUU and the issue went away. All signs pointing to the ViperXL ROM...
UPDATE: Issue didn't NOT resolve, but lessened under stock ROM. I've isolated the crackling to fluctuations in CPU clock. When locking the speeds to one clock rate, the crackling goes away. As soon as I allow the governor to adjust speeds, the crackling recurs. I'd really like a dev to chime in here and advise how this could be resolved. I'm going to flash back to ViperXL to see if these same variables have any effect.
Hi,
I've got a strange problem which no amount of searching and experimentation has fixed...
Whenever I start playing audio the media volume reduces to zero / mute by itself. I can then turn it back up and all is well, until the end of that song / video at which point the problem repeats. This occurs in all my media playing apps.
This only happens when using my wired headphones that have a builtin microphone. I don't get the issue on speakers, with a non-microphone headphone / external speaker, or with a bluetooth device.
I've tried the headphones on another phone (not OPO) running the same version of cm13 nightly, and the problem doesn't occur.
So I'm fairly sure that its a software bug/setting issue, but I don't know what.
I've tried making sure all other possible audio players are not started at boot and force stopped to make sure its not some weird app/clash.
Would appreciate any suggestions!
Thanks...
+1 for that issue I thought it as due to faulty buttons .......

Glad to hear its not just me! It even does it in safe mode.
I guess the only thing to try is a different ROM...
The best thread I've found that describes this problem is:
https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/3jkilb/oneplus_one_volume_automatically_decreases_to/
Sultanxda's comments describe whats happening nicely.
So in a last and final attempt to fix this I tried some different ROMs. I tried the latest cm13 stable, sultanxda's latest and even went back to good old kitkat! But all had the same problem....
It would seem this is a hardware issue that is only getting worse. I've had instances now where the volume will mute whilst playing a song). Sometimes it mutes and then turns on Do Not Disturb!
Oh well.... time for some bluetooth headphones.
This issue is all over the airpod subreddit. Apparently the newest airpod pro firmware update screwed up the volume level for Android. It cannot be fixed anymore by disabling/ enabling media sync. Wondering if any of the devs can find a fix or maybe a mod to restore the volume function.

Volume drop issue doesn't happen often with my AirPods Pro. If it happens I disconnect my airpods forget them and reset them by holding airpods case pairing button. This fixes issue for me. Had this issue once since last OS update, was disappointed, because update log clearly stated that they fixed it. :/
go to settings/sound&vibration/Earphone mode
and Disable bluetooth absolute volume
As you know this issue is very widespread with no 100% solution available yet. It is definitely related to android and something in the kernel or whatever because I can pair with other android phones or even flash different roms and sometimes the volume is super loud and other times super quiet. However the latest trick I had to use on my OP7pro running Android 10 / Oxygen 10 STOCK was to pair my airpods to my windows PC first (external bluetooth dongle), which allowed me to ramp the volume up so high it hurt my ears, then just repair to OP7 and finally it understood the volume could go higher than what the airpods were being locked to.
Very annoying and everyone has their tricks, so try mine and see if it works.
hi, ive been putting together my own custom ROM for S905X based boxes and have almost finished, just a few things that are bugging ne and need some help getting the last of these bugs (annoyances) ironed out
Rom Link
https://apkpure.com/amazon-prime-video/com.amazon.avod.thirdpartyclient/download?from=details
So already fixed a bunch of issues including power standby issues, Wifi & Bluetooth drivers, Modified system apps to replace icons ect...
Things that need fixed
1. Issue when there is delay between the video starting and the audio starts, same with any sound there is a delay (happens with any sound if its been quiet for 5-10seconds (The issue wasn't there on the factory ROM so ive ruled out hardware)
2 Bluetooth audio volume is too loud (it sounds distorted and i have to reduce the (Android) Volume to 50-70% to remove the distortion) i have looked at various files in system/ect (audio policy volumes.xml ect...) any ideas what could cause this
I have attached some files from my ROM that might be useful
