Best supported tablet by XDA community? - General Topics

Hello, after getting disappointed by two different tablets (one with no support from producer and another without Android Auto support), I was wondering which is\are the most supported tablets by the XDA/modding community in general. It would be nice to have a wider view for me and whoever is striving to buy a new tablet more for the community support and hardware than not for the performance or unique features. So what do you think?

[Q] Which Android tablets can count on XDA developers support

Tablets are here to stay.
2011 is going to show an incredible amount of enticing Android tablets hitting the market.
We all know by now that the success of a device strongly depends on its popularity amongst the Android developers community.
N.B. One of the reason I like my HTC Desire so much is that so many devs own one. Therefore, one can rest assured it will sustain ROM developments and upgrades much longer and much more frequently than other models, thus keeping my mobile up to date much longer.
Back to the topic of upcoming tablets:
At the moment I believe the most promising high-end tablets are:
- Notion Ink Adam (ok, it is about to be launched, but on paper it is impressive)
- Archos 10.1 (high spec, light weight)
- Archos 70 (huge storage space, very portable)
- Galaxy Tab (already hugely popular)
- Other?
I myself am strongly considering buying the Notion Ink, but would be hesitant to do that if I couldn't count on substantial XDA support.
So my question is this:
- Which tablets do devs intend to purchase/support?
I would appreciate if only devs would enter the poll.
No need to contaminate the results with enthusiastic future customers/users who still have to ask what a ROM is.
Thanks in advance.
P.S. I have never set up a poll before so bare with me if it doesn't work right away in this OP.
P.P.S. Feel free to reply with other high-end tabs if you feel they should've been in the poll. In case of overwhelming enthusiasm for certain devices we could always address the omission in the sticky below.

Ok.
Just 2 votes and no comments.
Looks like no one has made their minds up re which tablet they're going for.
BTW Orb3000, which tablet were you thinking of?
Look at the Viewsonic G Tablet. Other than no source it's really good.
I am thinking on this one, not so new but I prefer that OS for a tablet

Archos does make some nice looking kit.
5hrs battery life seems a bit low for a tablet don't you think?
Btw Orb, wouldn't mind adding the Viewsonic to the poll.
Archos 9 unfortunately is not Android, so cannot add that.
Do you know if it's possible to change an existing poll or do you need to issue a whole new one?

[IDEA] xda-phone with Android?

Hi, I'm seeing in many chinese pages, like m8cool , many manufacturers of smartphones with Android, it would be feasible that we try to reach an agreement among us, by voting, to choose the features most compatible with the custom roms, and present this proposal to that small chinese manufacturers , and make us a good price? It would be the xda genuine phone , free , unlocked, and fully customized
Greetings
Nobody likes the idea? , chinese manufacturers are improving, in "m8cool" there are several examples, "W700" for example have Tegra2, 720p video, 1500mah..
Im sure that we can make a good phone, best one
no one dares?

Fishlabs Galaxy on fire 2 Little Android support

Hey guys I have been monitoring Fishlabs forums for galaxy on fire 2 and turns out they believe that the android market is very unfavorable in profits that there is little support from the android community and may not be doing any future releases to android, That IOS is their only reliable source of profit
there is a couple of reasons why this is a bad thing
1. very few future updates and bug fixes
2. No DLC support
3. No porting of any of their other titles(no point to do so wont make them money)
4. IOS is better then Android and they will continue dev for IOS but not Android
these are just a few reasons i can think of off the top of my head
I dont know if this bothers anyone but i like to see good developers support android devices for future releases
if this bothers anyone else show some support hop on their forums and show them that the Android community is a good as IOS for developing
This sucks!!!!!!Love the game on my ITouch

Suggestions for Most Dev Friendly Budget Models in past 1-2yrs with 6in+ 835+

Due to so many more phones in the past 1-2 years coming with additional layers of security such as bootloader lockouts I wanted to ask the communities opinions on some of the best model phones to compare with the following requirements:
Developer Friendly - (i.e. Straightforward Bootloader unlock / Quality Roms available with developer support)
Recent Models only 2017+ with 6 inch or larger Display / Snapdragon 835 or higher (or similar)
Here is the kicker... budget friendly. Able to be easily found for $350 or less new or used
Interested in user opinions and devs suggestions to compile a list.
Thanks for your reply!

Any thoughts guys? What models have you worked with in the past year or so that have been well supported by developers and community members with roms/mods guides.

Which manufacturers have the best OS support for low/mid - range products

Hello. I'm looking to buy a new Android Tablet. I'd really like something that has regular security patches for as long as possible because it will contain a lot of secure apps such as banking, 2FA, etc.
Which manufacturers have the best reputation for support beyond their flagship models?
Thank you.
I would say Xiaomi. Given that they allows for bootloader unlock, you can get security updates and bug fixes even for more years after the official support is dropped. Nowadays every manufacturer support is around 3 years.
AFAIK Google and Samsung actually grant 5 years support.
Don't think OEMs of low / mid-midrange products will also offer this support: the costs simply would be too high.
Thanks. I think for the money I have I'll have to stick with Samsung. Does anyone know what Lenovo is like for support? I often see their tablets but know little about how well they are supported.
