Hello, I been using MIUI for a little while on my Poco X3 NFC and the battery has been really good but now that I unlocked my bootloader I wanted to root my phone and run some software on it that needs root access.
I used ArrowOS for a couple days now and it's really not my cup of tea, battery drains 10 percent after about 30 minutes, it gets a little hot and sometimes the screen just freezes so I don't know.
If anyone could recommend me a ROM and a Kernel to flash together so I can have the best battery life with a mix of good performance that'd be appreciated, I wanna stay on a ROM and not constantly switch. Thank you.

besides stock EUI rom, AOKP MM has the best battery life and stability. only downside is bluetooth audio does not work. im testing out MIUI 8 but battery does not seem that good.

My Le1S displays the same erratic battery behaviour...It all started after the 19s update...Don't know whether it was a coincidence and if I have a software or hardware issue...Battery charged to 100% - would then drop to 40% within a few hours - then jump to 20% in another 1 hour - and then would start discharging at the rate of 1% every second and finally shut down...I tried every battery calibration method mentioned on this forum; did a factory reset numerous times; nothing helped...
For long, I've been thinking of downgrading to EUI 14s using one of the links in the Leeco forum...Am even thinking of flashing the 23s chinese version another link...
This was a beautiful when I had bought it...Not sure why things took such a downturn that now it has become a nightmare...I literally have to keep it connected to a charger most of the time...Pls let me know if you find a solution for this issue and if a battery change helps you...If nothing works, I am planning to move to the Redmi Note 4 soon...
The issues come from the source used i believe. Every nougat rom has battery drain. Every non-EUI based marshmallow rom has bt audio issue. Don't know issues with lollipop ones. EUI roms i have used all have this notifications issue, sometimes phone wont receive any even if every battery saving feature is disabled.
Best marshmallow roms for those who don't care about Bluetooth audio, AOKP and AICP. I would gladly go back to EUI, even miui or flyme, without those notifications and Bluetooth issues.
Use the CM 13 ROM (either LOS 13 from the xda forum or the cm 13 by bule from bbs.ydss.cn) which gives the best standby time even with all apps running in the night the battery drain is about 1 to 3% all night. I use the eui 26s rom which battery backup is also good I have no issue like you mentioned.

Fast battery drain on the Mi5s occurs when the fingerprint reader is active. Disable it by removing any fingerprints registered in the security setup (in other words, don't use your fingerprint reader option) and reboot. You will notice the phone runs much cooler and the battery lasts much much longer. To permanently resolve the issue and regain use of the fingerprint reader, you must root the phone or find some other way of disabling com.qualcomm.qti.biometric.fingerprint.service.
Until about four days ago, I would never consider taking my Mi5s out of the house because it was useless unless I wanted to drag a power bank with me. A comment by someone got me motivated to dig into this issue and I found other people at xiaomi.eu reporting the basics as I've stated above. Yesterday I removed fingerprints, fully charged the phone and today I have 50% battery left and a cool running phone. Normally, it would be less than 20 % after sitting idle overnight. I've asked Xiaomi to consider an app with root permission to fix this. I am not holding my breath.
Im on custom rom everyday i get around 12-15 hours continue backup excessive usage with wifi and gps on. And even vpn is on because im in china so need vpn for google, facebook and youtube.
Look this I havent locked my phone since 2 hours and battery is still 83 %

I cannot post direct link here, but search "lehehe bm37" on Ali. I use this one. It has the same capacity as original one and temperate sensor is working.
Battery Perfomance before and after flashing a Custom Rom!
Flashing a custom rom and used a different rom Everday or week can harmful your battery in phone, this happend to me before when i'm always flashing a new custom rom like aex aosip, havoc and pie, everyday, or week in my redmi 5A and then in 2 month my battery get worse than before, i just can sot 6-7h only, before the problem happend i can sot 10-11h.
The Problem is always flashing a rom and cause hardware got a big problem or sick. I Have done with calibrate my battery, but it still bad. I also make a look and conclusion for my friends phone and after all of them always flashing a custom rom, battery got a drain problem and cannot sot 7-8h again just 5-6h and this totally are bad for us to keep flashing and hack our phone system.
Now i'm using a redmi 4x about 5-6 month, i don't unlock my bootloder and never flashing a custom rom, because the cause of hardware problem after used many rom.
Now i can get 11-12 h sot, do you trust it??
I also never push the update for miui, just use old miui version. Because it also will cause drain problem for our battery life.
In conclusion, just used our phone carefully, don't going to mad, making your phone like iphone 6+ because your phone are miui and are xioami phone.?
I have been using the OP6 for a while and tbh OOS is great (I use it with RZ Kernel and a few Magisk audio mods)
But everytime I update the phone, I got some kind of soft brick and every time I need to use MSMdownload to fix, tried how others update and still got the problem. Updating to 9.0.6 and still have that problem so I'm thinking about going the custom ROM route.
My main concern is battery life (and preferably OOS camera too cuz I need the Pro mode) and stable enough to be a daily driver. As for the battery, I'm getting estimated 6hr30m SOT average for 100% calculated base on the SOT of 60% drain and Accubattery give me 2870mAh (87%) for battery capacity (I know it may have been proven to be inaccurate but I want to give as much info as I can)
I hope anyone can give me the combo you are using and your SOT (I do understand that it's based on the how you use the phone) and whether you game or not. Or at least how to update without bricking my phone cause this A/B system is driving me mad.
Currently considering Havoc, Syberian, Treskmod/Omni but can't test them all cause I need a stable phone to work everyday.
Thanks a ton!
With oos i always had SOT 4 hours/4:30 (gaming, whatsapp, youtube, twitter, klwp etc) stock rom, stock kernel (don't know how but there's people that can reach 8 hours SOT), standby till 2 days (no usage)
Now i'm with havoc from two months and the battery is giving me same SOT and same standby but i'm with havoc and blue_spark kernel and i'm decrypted (don't think this last one is really influencing over battery), havoc is the best rom you will ever find here for this phone, it's super stable and super fast but not with its stock kernel so try smurf or blue spark. I've even tried so many other roms (aospExtended, lineageos, pixel experience, omnirom, liquidremix, aosip, carbonrom) but none of this it's better than havoc in my opinion.
Hi guys, I bought my P5 a month ago but I'm not very satisfied with it.
I mean, it's a fantastic smartphone but battery drain is very strange: when I have screen on it drains slowly but when I lock it, it drains faster.
Obv I tried to change every settings like 5G, 90Hz and also freeze some apps (pixel ambient services, digital wellbeing...) but didin't solved at all.
Now I'm on LOS 18 and seems to be a bit better, but I would ask you if you have seen big improvements using a different kernel.
Thank you, waiting for suggestions!
I've been on stock ROM and EX kernel for almost a year and my battery life is outstanding. I just had a stint where I went two full days without a charge. I do not have facebook or other known battery eaters on my phone, nor do I play games. I also set almost every app to battery restricted so they don't run in the background. But EX kernel is the real deal.

Absolutely agree with you.
After posting this, I tried ElementalX & stock rom for the first time and it's insane compared to stock rom & kernel.
LOS & EXKM is still the best combo but Gcam is a bit worse so I will keep stock with ElementalX.
Did you set something special in EXKM?
I appreciate a lot your answer, thank you
Well, every battery cicle for me is about 2 days with over 10 hours of total activity with podcasts and music and 2 to 4 hours of screen. That's stock, and never dipping below 35% or so.
The 5's battery life is quite good for this size just as a baseline.
