How to update to c.16 without losing root - OnePlus 8T Questions & Answers

Hi,
Ive a rooted 8t with the c.15 version.
I just saw that there is an incremental update to c.16.
How can I update to it with magisk without losing root.
Also I cant use my google pay, most likely because the root , im trying to find it in the hide section in magisk but cant find it, is there another way how to hide it?
Thanks

You could try the OOS 12 process I've suggested in https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/guide-root-and-keeping-root-options.4387977/
If you use it, let me know how it worked.
Have you got the modified USNF Magisk module installed?
Did you enable Zygisk, DenyList, and add Google Pay to Configure DenyList?

Also, regarding Google Pay see https://forums.oneplus.com/threads/oxygenos-12-c-16-update-for-oneplus-8t.1574300/ where it says "There is a known issue that Google Pay might fail to work after installing this build." That post also has some suggestions.

Rooted OC3 update to OG9 & Samsung Pay

I am rooted on OC3 with KNOX intact. Is there currently a way to upgrade to OG9 while keeping root and not tripping KNOX?
My main motivation is in using Samsung Pay.
With Android pay, I can uninstall superuser (unroot) and Android pay works. then if i need to do something that requires root access, i can re-install SU and do what i need. will something similar work with Samsung Pay?
will i simply be able to sideload the Samsung pay APK and Framework APK? or will i have to upgrade to OG9? is there a way to upgrade to OG9 and keep root & KNOX?
what are those of you in my same situation planning on doing?
thanks!
In the same boat. **** up the creek without a paddle.

Same as you: Stock (OC3), rooted, Knox intact.
I had successfully installed Android pay. Disabled root with SuperSU. Activated my cards. Re-enabled root. And I was able to make android pay purchases! I was a happy camper....for about 1 day.
Now every time I go to pay I get the message: "This card cannot be used right now." I have tried everything I can think of short of permanently removing root or removing SuperSU itself: different cards, disabling root, rebooting, etc
I was just in the Play Store looking at root cloaking. Has anyone had any success with non-xposed root cloaking? I was looking at the app: Rootcloak Plus / Cydia Substrate. Don't know if that would work on our devices or if that would screw up knox. Anyone know anything about it? I don't have an up-to-date backup so I'm not going to try it just yet.
Here is to hoping someone finds a solution....
do yo have a link for the samsung pay APKs? all the ones i have seen on XDA will not install.
also, did you install the framework or just the samsung pay APK?
thanks!
Samsung pay finally showed up for me on Google play. It downloaded and installed. When I open Samsung pay I get a message that says a software update is required. When I click the update button, Samsung pay closes and I get a pop up that says unfortunately Samsung pay had stopped. Will installing the Samsung pay framework fix this?
From all I've seen, you have to be on OG9 for Pay to work. You could try installing the framework as well, and see if that works. It would be installed automatically in OG9.
for me, samsung pay was more important than root. it was one of the main reasons i got the phone as i tend to forget my wallet a lot...lol. as mentioned by others, when trying to install samsung pay when rooted, it would ask to update. so i unrooted via SU and updated to OG9. as of now, samsung pay is installed and working. however, does any know if i can still get root? i read somewhere that you just have update the ping pong root app and reapply. however, i've also read that ping pong root will not work with 0G9.

There is currently no way to get root on OG9.
OE2 is the last rootable firmware version.
Is there anyway to downgrade OG9 to OE2? Accidently upgraded..

Pixel 2 Safety Net issue

Hi everyone,
Firstly, I'd like to state that I have researched before asking here!
So recently I had issues with my phone and thought the system was modified somehow, thus invalidating safety net. I reflashed today with a fresh download of the July update from google to try to fix it, but to my amazement with magisk uninstalled the phone still could not pass safety net and samsung pay for my gear s3 wouldn't operate and the play store was still not certified.
I noticed that there was a recent issue that topjohnwu fixed so I tried magisk beta to see if that helped but I'm stuck on the same issue. Is there an ongoing issue that I'm missing here and it is a matter of patience and updating?
Thanks kindly in advance for any input as my research has led me nowhere too useful.
need a bit more information... is your bootloader unlocked? If your bootloader is unlocked, and you do not have magisk installed to workaround safety net, you will not pass safety net without magisk installed unless you relock your bootloader...
building off what djer34 said, if your bootloader is unlocked, in addition to magisk, i believe you also need a patched kernel that can hide the check for if your bootloader is unlocked. my safetey net passes with root + flash kernel + bootloader unlock + magisk

Netflix after Bootloader Unlock & Pass Safety Net Check

Hello,
has anybody managed it to get apps like Netflix back to the PlayStore?
I have my European version of the Realme 5 Pro unlocked and rooted with Magisk. I installed some modules to pass Safety Net Check.
But I still can't manage to get Netflix back to the PlayStore.
I installed Netflix via an ApkMirror, this works, but is not my preferred solution.

How do I hide root from the Google pay app?

I have a pixel 3, rooted with magisk. I hid root from Google pay and Google play services through magisk but when I try and activate NFC for wireless payments it says I can't because my device is rooted. How do I bypass this and user NFC payments?
Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place. This is my first time using XDA so I am unfamiliar with the website

Question Google Pay issues

I have the Edge S version. I have tried both EU and China ROMs (via TinyScript) but no matter which ones I use Google pay gives an error message. See pic. Bootloader is unlocked, and for what it's worth When I've tried to sideload ROMs via ADB I get an "unrecognized error messages.
That message constantly returns regards if I delete the file within the .android folder, revoke access in developer settings.....Lastly, it was rooted previously, and currently shows as unrooted.
Any thoughts? If it's just an unlocked bootloader, how do I relock it? How to I revert to comes ROM as if it's 100% BNIB?
You need install magisk to root
set zygisk hide root
install safetynet module to pass safetynet to use google pay

Google pay must check if the bootloader is unlocked i guess, as well as checking for root
I managed to get google pay to work by using the magisk build.prop module and just made it spoof that it is another motorola phone, then just make all google play and pay apps hide magisk and wipe all their data

I have the Moto g100 with the North American firmware. I oem unlock mine both Google pay and PayPal apps work fine. The only thing I did notice. Was in the Google Play store under settings and then all the way to the bottom where it says about. It said device not certified
I enabled It with sucess. You need to install TWRP + MAGISK ... Use magisk to hide root from any app. You should install safatynet.fix module inside magisk and Reboot ... After that try to check If safetynet is certified using safetynet test apps from play store. You will be happy like me ... It's working NFC well!!
