Question Flashing new firmware with ODIN without loosing data - Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra

Hi, my phone is branded by 3UK so it takes a little longer than usual when a new OTA upodate is available.
Is there a way to update phone via ODIN but without loosing data?
thx

Sure, just take care you use the "Home_CSC...." file and NOT the "CSC...."

With the S22, The above mentioned method is somewhat a hit or a miss.
Usual Method -
Patch the AP tar and flash in Odin using the Home_CSC,
Not the regular CSC.
With S22 - This fails sometimes.
So make sure to backup before you attempt anything.

it worked
I hoped it would solve the SMART CALL isuue but it did not... The IMEI of my phone is registered as Thee UK on Samsung servers, and unless I insert a 3UK SIM, any other SIM will disable the Smart call switch...

[UNLOCKED] SM-G935T / T-Mobile

Hi community,
A question for many of us in regards to 'unlocking' or "how to unlock" from our carriers, I have done a very simple and silly way to unlock my phone from T-Mobile.
I am currently under SM-G935U Firmware (4API3), coming from SM-G935T's 4APIA Firmware.
Follow these simple steps in order to unlock from your carrier.
***NOTE: THIS METHOD ONLY WORKS IN STOCK FIRMWARES. YOUR DEVICE WILL BREAK IF YOU TRY TO INSTALL UNDER A CUSTOM ROM***
1.- If you have previously installed a custom ROM (Echoe, Tekv2), say bye bye for now. Using Odin latest version (3.12.3), flash Stock Firmware '4APIA'. After set up enable developer options and USB Debugging.
2.- Download SM-G935U's official firmware from SamMobile or Samsung-Firmwares (Make sure you download the TMO region firmware)
3.- Create a new folder on your desktop, copy and paste BL & AP files from the SM-G935U firmware you just downloaded. From the SM-G935T stock firmware you downloaded, copy and paste CP & CSC_HOME files.
*Basically you will have BL/AP from G935U and CP/CSC_HOME from G935T*
4.- Flash these files through ODIN, but WARNING: After flashing your phone will reboot. Go into recovery mode and wipe cache/data + wipe data.
5,- You will get to see a dm-verityverification failed, no mount blah blah blah. Just ignore it. After deleting cache and data reboot again into download mode...BUT THIS TIME ONLY FLASH CP file from G935T while the CSC_HOME you will flash now will be the official G935U file.
6.- After reboot, done.
I was able to install Google Voice
Sounds promising going to try this when I get home, was having all those issues with dm-verity.
Have you tried just wiping the cache and not wiping data with success? (Dirty flashing)
Or we all starting from scratch?
since root with eng kernel makes my phone burn up and kills my battery, even with all the remedies. The g935u is an option I would love to play with.
But how did you unlock the sim? You have the unlocked versions firmware so less bloat and no carrier garbage but the phone itself would appear to still be locked to TMO. Splain.
Hi there. This firmware is so much better than the stock TMO firmware, everything works excellent. I used stock tmo firmware first APIA, next tmo G935U API3 next. I tried your way first on a S7 Edge with bad IMEI and it wasn't working. I used another S7 Edge but this time I flash all the G935U API3 firmware, it work flawlessly with one simple try. Just put AP/BL/CP/CSC and flash with the latest Odin, you wouldn't have problems. My 2 other TMO S7 Edge are on stock G935U and saying official.
Hey can make a video like you did please.

Yes indeed it is. G935U feels great, faster response, no lag at all and for some reason I get 4G LTE even with Roaming (Mexico) I am still with T-Mobile...were you able to UNLOCK the SIM?

Hey bori,
Every time I flash a custom ROM or even going back to stock, I always wipe cache/data. It is just the way I like to do things on my phone, not keeping any traces from previous ROM/FIRMWARE.
Make sure you download the official Firmware from SamMobile or Samsung-Firmware.
I heard updato is a fast download Firmware site.

Well i tried last night but ended up with the same results. Goes perfect in Odin. But boots straight into recovery even though I wiped everything and reflashed cp and home csc from g935t files.
For the TMO and other SM-G935 firmware, check out THEANDROIDSOUL.COM . They have about 90% of all firmware.

I'm not a big fan of stock roms, custom is the way but this TMO G935U FIRMWARE IS THE ****TTT !!!.
The last time I used a stock Rom was from HTC EVO 4G, after that was the Sprint S2 and I never USED ANY PHONES WITHOUT A CUSTOM ROM TILL NOW.
This TMO G935U FIRMWARE, I did a ANTUTU BENCHMARK LAST NIGHT after flashing the firmware. Mennn! The score was higher than the note 7 N9300 by 4000 points, I couldn't believe it. I did a second test samething. The battery performance is excellent.
All mine said was applied multi csc now I get lte+
Nah I didn't try to unlock it yet, I have to get an AT&T sim card or simple mobile card and see if it ask for codes. If that works that will be great for everyone ?.
Which U firmware are you guys flashing and what would be the differences between them? I'm currently on the T-Mobile U firmware.
tried this... asks code also ... but anycode can give message "network successfull".
BUT its not unlocked... still "invalid sim card inserted error" is there.
So this method works or not? I want to know before I take the plunge. Also Dm verity error doesn't sound good either. I had a note edge with that error and it was a major headache.

i was able to flash g935u firmware totally.. but didnt work for me.
Hi all. As far as I can see, the U firmware unlocked the phone. I inserted a SIMPLE MOBILE CARD into my G935T running G935U firmware, the phone boot into like recovery mod but the screen go BLUE and it configures SIM UNLOCKED SYSTEM, then it reboot and walla the phone have service on SIMPLE MOBILE NETWORK. I was very SURPRISED it works because the phone is locked to T-Mobile and only the DEVICE APP to unlock it. So at this point I'm only using the G935U firmware on my G935T, no more T-Mobile firmware bull crap. Next I'll get an AT&T SIM card and try that for 30 days.

I know this is a late response but it's good to know. SimpleMobile has been running under T-Mobile Network, whether your T-Mobile Phone is locked or unlocked it will work when a SimpleMobile Sim is inserted.
network unlock code????

After Nov 1 Samsung security update lost Total Wireless US data connect

G930U phone. Nov 1 Android update from Samsung, installed as normal. After reboot got the typical hung phone problem with switching SIMs. So rebooted in menu mode and normal boot, no resets, which fixes that first issue. But now no data connection on Verizon network with Total Wireless. TW tech support is useless. Anyone else?
Could be that the update broke your CSC somehow, which is where all the carrier network settings come from.
Try going to updato.com, finding the right firmware for your phone, and flashing just home_csc via Odin, there is a flash guide on the site. If TW has their own firmware variant, use their CSC.

Thanks for the response. Always appreciate the input. I should have mentioned I'm on pure stock, not rooted, so re-install firmware would be a biggy for me.
Turns out after over an hour on chat and phone with TW and Samsung the fix was to do turn off mobile data, "Reset Network Settings", then "Search Networks", reboot and turn on mobile data. LTE popped up on the status bar and there's joy again.
Hope I remember this after the next update from Sammy.
No worries glad it's sorted.
For future reference in case you run into a pickle, flashing via Odin doesn't require root or trip Knox, and won't break warranty. It can be used for 100% stock flashing in the event you have issues, or want to upgrade/downgrade.
Flashing home_csv specifically also doesn't wipe your phone.

That's very good to know. I've done no flashing of roms but what you just described could turn me into a "flasher", uh, so to speak...
Thanks.
Update: Not fixed. Now I can either use calling or data, not both. Samsung said the update reverts APNs back to default. Apparently that removed the Total Wireless APN, but there's no way to manually enter or edit their APN. Auto select network doesn't solve it. Still looking for an answer.

Flashed U firmware to a U1 but no Carrier apps

I have a sm-g715u1 with latest android 11 firmware and flashed the verizon G715USQU7BUC1. Both are latest ota firmware.
Odin (3.141) showed a succesful flash with all 5 bl,ap, cp,csc and userdata put in. The csc file was non home. However, I dont see any verizon apps installed. There were changes and it does show the U version software installed but no verizon apps. I saw no errors in odin and flashed it twice but no change. I did a factory reset from phone app before flashing a second time.
Not sure what i did wrong . I left the SD card in but dont think that matters.
It has verizon splash screen on startup but thats it. The phone is functional but no different than U1
Is this version (3.14.1) of Odin ok for U1 to U flashing?
Should i have factory reset before flashing? Flash from recovery and not the phone software?
Any ideas will be appreciated.

I see that i can no longer access special menus via the dial pad like I did before the flash. Its like a partial install of the userdata file or something.
So things i noticed after the vzw flash: I didnt get the full verizon bloatware and lost some of the samsung unbranded advantages. I have the vzw 4G icon and Hd voice icon during calls and had the video call option. Video calling didnt work and had to call vzw tec support to get it turned on. A ticket was opened to have it done and its now working fine. Before the flash i was told it couldnt be done so flashing to vzw must have helped here. One thing i have noticed is reception in fringe areas after flash in terrible by comparison. It now enters extended network or no signal at all where before it stayed on lte even with 1 bar and could text and call. This must be a PRL difference or something. The unlocked, unbranded version is way way better for fringe areas. In town i noticed no difference.
At this point i could try to enter recovery and wipe then direct to flash the vzw firmware again to see if i get all the bloatware but to be honest the poor signal and tower handoff with the vzw firmware has convinced me that the U1 firmware is better for me overall even if i lose the video calling after switching back.
At least with the U1 version its a little easier to experiment to see what works best.

Question Samsung S21 VZN need unlocked or converted to ATT. Tried odin.. Maybe I am an idiot.

Hello.
Got a free phone from a buddy S21 5G. I am wanting to swap it for the S10* 1tb I gave my wife to use it was a bit expensive. So I'd rather ti go back in the box.
Popped the sim in it, it works makes calls sometimes, sometimes not. Texts seem to always work, I am currently on ATT I would prefer to have that firmware as I live in the stick with ho cell service. ATT has wifi calling which is pretty much a necessity here.
So what exactly do I need to do to get this off the VZN fir
Hello. Could you all provide me the links for what I need? Found a link that had a patched Odin plus the firmware. I installed in booted how I was suppose to. Tried to install in and it errored out. Also. I do not know what file to select for the user data selection, I do not mind deleting all data as it 8s hacked up and can put ti back with smart switch.
Hello, did you manage to flash the phone?, I'm stuck with a similar case, mine is a factory unlocked unit from Verizon, it turns out that even if it is factory unlocked, is locked after a few minutes by verizon, I have tried everything to get rid of the VZW firmware but it seems that Verizon locks the bootloader so I can't flash it (it passes om odin and everything but the firmware doesn't change)
I even paid SamKEY credits to change the CSC but it didn't change either.

Question Is it possible to in-place flash? As in, flashing the same firmware already on the phone.

Hey, first post so sorry if I say anything off lol.
I have a G996U purchased from Verizon that I flashed to U1 firmware like 2 years ago when I first got it, and have had no issues since. I had a OTA software update the other night that seems to have triggered a carrier lock in my phone. The phone works fine for 5 minutes, then I get a popup telling me the phone is locked and to contact Verizon, despite the phone being from Verizon and running a Verizon sim. I went to them and unfortunately nothing they did could resolve it (new SIM, eSIM, etc), so they shipped me a new phone via insurance. I'm wondering though if I could save myself the hassle of transferring everything and do an in-place flash on the phone to see if that clears up the issue. I am already on the newest firmware (G996U1UEU5EWB1), so I can't upgrade, but I was wondering if I'd be able to flash the same firmware already on the phone while keeping all my data. Thanks.
Yes, just flash with home_csc.

Thank you, just also want to ask bc I'm actually not sure which software to go for. I thought I had flashed XAA long ago, and I'm definitely on U1 firmware, but when I check "Service provider software version" in settings, it says VZW rather than XAA. Is it safe to download XAA firmware for a reflash or should I just do VZW to be safe?
You can flash any csc firmware.
