When I got the phone there wasn't all the apps on it. Now if I boot and clear the cache, re mount and reboot. It still has all the apps like bixby etc. even though during the setup I skip all that. WHat can I do. This is a US ATT locked phone which I could never send a mms or sms over 1mb.
I don't care if it is a ATT image. I don't need all the junk apps, but the advance messaging needs to work.
Quick Debloat ATT (SM-711U1)
No for non-rooted/stock/bootlocked phones This is my debloat list, simply copy paste into ADB. I still run some Google and Samsung services but this takes out all the carrier, Microsoft, Facebook and Samsung garbage that they lock into the...

I had LAGGING issues with my ATT S7 EDGE. This might help some of you.
I observed the below things on my ATT S7 EDGE:
1. When I first bought the device, I used google's app backup restore from my previous Note 4. I setup everything and but I felt a lot of lagging.
2. Later I reset my device and setup my device as a new Device. Installed all my apps. Phone works like a charm, No lagging at ALL.
3. Unfortunately, due to the multiple attempts on the fingerprints, my phone got automatically reset to factory settings. ....Then again I had to install all my apps. So i used Google's backup again and restored everything. I see too much lagging again.I tried clearing all the caches from recovery but no luck
4. Lastly, I reset my phone again, cleared all the caches and set it up as a NEW DEVICE...installed all my apps one by one....Setup everything phone WORKS LIKE A CHARM. NO LAGGING AT ALL!!!!!
My Conclusion - ""By Setting up as a new Device. I see no LAG AT ALL.""
FYI, in all the above steps I did use package disabler pro and disabled most of the att bloatware. Attached Screenshots of my disabled apps.
I have around 100+ apps running all the time in the background and I see NO LAG AT ALL.
I have 8 gmail accounts and 2 work Emails lol....NO LAG AT ALL!!
I also use Greenify widget to hibernate the apps sometimes.
LOVING MY PHONE !!!!!

I have a Samsung S7 T-Mobile, G930TUVU4APK1. Nothing exciting right?
I received this phone from a moving sale and the people have since moved, and I've no idea who they were. The key guard was on, couldn't get in so I did a factory reset via recovery...well It is protected with Google Factory Reset Protection (FRP). I tried various things, RealTerm being one, and cannot unlock it. I downgraded the firmware to 6.0.1, and still can't get in. I tried to open a browser by copy/paste text, and I can sign into Google from the phone, but it's not a browser. I can only tap buttons and copy/paste items through the User Agreement browser. Chrome is installed as explained below. It will not sync.
So I thought i would try to unlock the bootloader by flashing it through Odin: Downgraded it from 7.0 to 6.0.1. in 'download' mode. Let it reboot when finished and powered it down. Loaded Odin again and flashed the AP part with Samsung_G930x_QC_Rooted_BOOT.tar. I then flashed SU from that link too. Success. It is rooted. I can get into a shell and perform shell commands and ADB commands. I can enable and disable packages, including Google packages. So i went in with ADB, disabled Google Play Services, cleared the data, renabled. Went and did that with the other 3 Google APKs hoping when you cleared the data, it cleared the account in FRP. I successfully bypassed FRP for a friend's LG phone by reading the User Agreement. It would open it in a Chrome tab and I could search 'settings' and get into the phone's apps and clear all the Google Apps data which would clear the account in FRP and allow it to be setup again with a new account.
Not this one. So I have full ROOT rights, the shell shows a '#', I can use full ADB, I can do everything except bypass FRP. I haven't found a package I can't disable, I just don't know which ones so I can to get rid of FRP, if able. I have no idea if the bootloader is unlocked or what the unlocked picture of a lock says "custom" means. Any help I can ge would be awesome!
Code:
adb shell
[email protected]:/ # pm list users
Users:
UserInfo{0:Jason S:13} running
That is my name. But I am not signed in? It says to have "owner of the device" to log in during setup.
Ok well...I'm inside the phone. I managed to flash root. I will try to post a step-by-step later, but right now I can install any APK, as long as it doesn't rely on Google Services. I did NOT bypass FRP yet. I have cleared data and or disabled all Google related services with no effect. I installed the SuperSU app but it says i don't have root. I just added a Samsung account I just created.
Like I can get into settings, disable apps, I even installed Nova Launcher. I just can't get past the FRP when I go to sign into any Google App.
Ok. I really didn't mean to have to start all over, at least not tonight, but I screwed up and well....anyway...Here is what i got so far.
I have not been able to yet bypass FRP. I have been able to root, and disable services of Samsung and Google, to gain main entry into the device.
1) Make sure phone is powered off.
2) Boot into 'download' mode by pressing and holding volume down+home+power. When the screen comes on, release the buttons then press the volume up button once.
3) Plug phone into Computer and launch Odin.
4) Download UFIRM_G930_Odin_Firmware.zip and unzip.
5) In Odin, add corresponding files to slots and click start.
6) Let it reboot, then power it down again. Reboot back into 'download mode'.
7) Went here and downloaded Nougat_S7_Edge_EngBoot.tar.md5.
8) In Odin, placed the above file in AP slot, and click start. Device is 'rooted.'
At this point, I am at the Welcome screen to select language. I don't do that. Phone is still plugged in, so I open ADB.
Code:
adb devices
List of devices attached
e436cea2 device
adb shell
heroqltevzw:/ #
heroqltevzw:/ # pm list packages com.sec
The shell command then pulls up all the packages related to setting up the device with their software. I disabled the Setup Wizard. I may have the exact package name a little off, as I am trying to do this post by memory. When you do this command, watch the screen.
Code:
heroqltevzw:/ # pm disable com.sec.android.app.setupwizard
(some amount of words followed by) disabled status: true
At this point you should see the stock Android setup wizard. I list the Google packages.
Code:
heroqltevzw:/ # pm list packages com.google
I disable the four Core packages, Play store, account manager, play services and the framework. I am using App Inspector on another Android device to get the core package names. When that's all done, I then go back, clear all the data from each disabled packages. Then I disable the stock Android setup wizard. When I do that, a pop up allows me to select a Samsung Launcher, I go with basic touch wiz. I now have access to the device in it's entirety. Then I install SuperSU APK and Nova Launcher via ADB. I set up Nova to make sure it is default. I power down the phone and reboot to 'download mode' again. Plug back into the PC. From here I get a script that will do the rest. When it reboots, tap on SuperSU app, done.
Now I have gone on and restored the Google play related apks, but even with the data cleared, it still reads FRP. So I can use this phone just like any other, just without using apps that rely on being signed into Google. I added my Samsung Account, but I just created it.
Ok so I rebooted this AM to try out something. I re-enabled Samsung's setupwizrd while leaving Android's disabled, along with the play services etc. I then downloaded and installed Samsung's official web browser 'internet'. This solved a lot of small issues. I couldn't use recent apps button so I was unable to swipe apps closed. Samsung wasn't syncing with my account. Other little annoyances. So I logged into my Google account through their browser. Google FINALLY recognized the phone. Before it would recognize it, but only as a new phone anytime I logged into Google. So 24 hours later (today) since I last tried to log in, I re enabled the Google services. It asked to update Google play (which I downgraded so it would have a harder time recognizing the previous account), and it updated. I went to settings, added my google account, FRP is GONE!
Since I logged into Samsung late last night, the phone synced with it's apps, my data/info and whatever else it needed to sync with. So I presume Google saw that today and was happy with it enough with the results, it released the FRP. The phone is officially working on all ends! Rooted and all
My mom decided to be a dumbass and keep a bunch of photos stored permanently in the text messaging app. Whenever someone sent her something, she wouldn't actually save it, just leave it in the messaging history and dig through the relevant messages whenever she wants to use the photo again. Now, she has a new phone, and she wants all of the pictures that are currently in the text message app on her old phone to be stored in a folder on her new phone, or at the very least to be on her new phone in some form. Ideally, what I want is to get a tarball of all of the messaging app's data that I can then cp *.jpg all of the images out of, and then I can email her the images. I am unwilling to try to root the phone because there are no backups of it, so I don't want to risk breaking anything.
The first thing I tried were the SMS transfer apps from the play store, such as this and this. In theory, these would be the easiest to use solution, and while they wouldn't be out of the messaging app, at least they would be on the new phone. I tried about 10 of them, multiple times each. Every single one would claim to have succeeded in transferring over the messages, but absolutely nothing ever appeared on the new phone.
The next thing I decided to try was LG Switch, since both phones were made by LG. Unfortunately, that didn't work out either. It wanted to wipe the new phone and basically set it up to be an exact copy of the old one. My mom has already started to use the new phone, so nuking the entire phone and copying everything over is not acceptable. Additionally, the radios on the old phone only work intermittently (one of the reasons that the phone was replaced), so I don't want to do anything that will take more than a minute or two over wireless.
Next, I tried Helium. The desktop app opens fine, but the app on the phone doesn't work. Sometimes, I get the application homescreen with a popup claiming that it is waiting for the desktop application and a cancel button that doesn't work. Sometimes, I get a solid white screen. In either case, the desktop app doesn't see it, the phone slows down and gets hot, and eventually I get a "Helium is not responding" popup. This has persisted across multiple attempts to wipe Helium's data and reinstall it.
The final thing I tried was LG Backup, which was buried in the settings menu. The old phone created a backup just fine, but the backup is in a proprietary format that I can't open on my laptop, and LG does not make it clear whether restoring on the new phone will keep the data that's already there or not. Additionally, this will still have the images trapped in a messaging app, except on the new phone instead of the old one.
I'm out of ideas. Anything else I can try? Any way I can fix the issues with something I already tried? Any way I can do this manually with ADB? In case it matters, the old phone is an LG G2 from T-Mobile (Model LG-D801) on Android 5.0.2, and the new phone is an LG K40.
Short store - installed firmware and now none of the OEM apps are on the phone. No ATT logo on bootup.
So months back my wife bought me an unlocked samsung note10+ that was new. I was using it via wifi fine but finally went to use with my sim card for att and learned it didnt work to make or receive calls. After investigating I learned I needed to flash the firmware with tmobile which would work for ATT. I found a video with instructions to reset phone, install usb drivers for window, run odin, load each firmware file into the correct boxes and then hit start and it said success and restarted phone. I can now call out and receive calls on the phone however the phone didnt boot up with the ATT logo not does it have any apps at all on the screen. I lost all my stock apps like the clock, calendar and all the oem ones, whether google maps, youtube and all that jazz.
Did I do something wrong? How do I get all those back as I need maps and youtube and definitely a clock to set alarms.
My apologies if in the wrong forum.

T mobile firmware doesn't have AT&T bloatware or AT&T specific apps and features(which you did not need and are not important anyway). As long as you are connecting to your network and can use the phone without issues, you will be fine. If you want the AT&T apps(including stock clock and calendar), you can probably find them online with a Google search and install them manually. As for the AT&T boot screen, it would require rooting the device to change that to AT&T boot screen. Maps and YouTube can be installed from Google PlayStore.
I have a N975U and and N975U1. AT&T brings nothing to the table I use. Both are nearly identical, I simply package block the AT&T apps on the one.
I use Samsung calendar and clock. Clock may not install for you as I'm running on Pie. Calendar won't upload here. Not sure why. It's 25mb, it should upload...

Motorola stylus 5g (2022)
I'm sorry to come here but I appreciate your help. I know the basics but not the inside of the phone. I had to get a new phone so I got a new number. I got the Motorola stylus 5g (2022). Free through Metro T-Mobile. Try to restart it a couple of times. I'm just wondering is it normal to have 440 system apps on your phone. I'm trying to sign in on my backup but not downloading the extra apps. Then I feel like it's throwing third party apps in there and there's so much crap on there and I'm just so confused and I don't understand why it's so difficult. I ran a test and it had system apps from Android 6th through 11. I think is odd but I could be wrong. I try to stay away from Google but I do sign in with a Gmail account that I don't use anymore. I was trying to get all my stuff moved over and saved on a different iCloud. I have a couple of reports I did if it's helpful I could try to send them. I try to keep Google out of my privacy but I know that's impossible if you have anything lying around. Maybe that's what's messing it up. Also this phone is supposed to be a 4G but it's connecting to five UC T-Mobile which is I know.
I'm pretty detailed oriented and I'm can follow directions easily but I don't always explain myself well.

You've come to the right place then. We appreciate you taking the time to find the right section to post in, when many new users don't.

I have noticed that my Pixel 5 automatically downloads Verizon apps after a factory reset, even though I've never used any of them. It's definitely possible in your case. However, they install as "user" apps, not system apps.

First off disable auto update in the Google store,
Second you should be able to go under settings and apps and disable all those unwanted apps you won't be able to remove them but you might be able to disable them.
As far as your connection type to the cell towers the phone might need to be reprovisioned or your APN is wrong.
You can try *#*#4636#*#* and make sure your band select is on auto there might be an active provisioning key near the bottom you can try using that too.
Sad to say since Motorola mobility was bought out by Lenovo and then the Chinese it's become one big trash heap
You should try to unlock your bootloader I believe it's 160 days of service I may be wrong and root it give you a lot more control over all that pre-installed stuff.

"Sad to say since Motorola mobility was bought out by Lenovo and then the Chinese it's become one big trash heap!"
This right here is right on it!I wouldn't buy a MediaTek device if it was the last device on earth! They're slow, and constantly have freezing issues!Tablet issues were the worst!
Moto phones are relatively clean, they only really come with gapps, carrier apps, and Facebook.
When you do the initial setup and sign in with a Google account, it will queue up a bunch of Google apps. You can stop the download from the Play Store or just uninstall them afterward.
MCM Client(check through your installed apps, MCM are the two with the icon of a queen chess piece) will enable any carrier apps and queue any that are not already baked into the rom. These can all be uninstalled or disabled.
You can also uninstall Facebook, but it has some hidden packages as well. Go into Settings -> Apps -> See All, select the three dot menu at the top right an press 'Show system apps', and search for 'meta'. There will be 'Meta App Installer', 'Meta App Manager', and 'Meta Services' that all can be disabled.
5GUC is T-Mobile's extended 5G network. If you just want 4G, go into Settings -> Network & internet -> Mobile Network and disable the toggle for 'Allow 5G'. It's normal to have a bunch of apps. Most of them are part of Android, customizations and apps added by Motorola, radio support libraries, and carrier support apps. Nothing to really worry about.
