In addition to the annoying camera problems, now this crazy GPS that keeps connecting and disconnecting non-stop. I am extremely annoyed at paying dearly for a smartphone full of annoying problems. I get even more annoyed because Samsung doesn't release software updates to fix this. The last update for my version was released in Feb.

No won't suggest any resets, clear cache, reinstall or OS.
There an easier answer.
Your screwed! The reason I say that is cause the march update came out a month ago and they releasing April now. Did you root it or change it in a way that will affect it getting updated?

It sure does show up under data used, so I assume that it will be counted against you data plan.
Is your phone rooted? Showing symptoms associated with.
AGAIN
Yeah I have no idea what this update is ? This is like the 5th time it failed on me, so forget it.
I am rooted.
When I got the update, I had just gotten the phone. The update went through just fine, the day after I rooted my phone. So maybe rooting had something to do with it. I don't see how that could effect it but maybe.
I think it's time you detach the umbilical cord to the OTA update Update using Clockwork. (Just a suggestion).
I am in the US on an unlocked S7 G930U.
Earlier this week I received notice of a Software Update.
I am always hesitant to install these updates until I know what they are and see what people are saying about their performance.
I havent seen anything about this here (am I missing it somewhere) although on GSMArena there is a scary sounding thread with people installing a recent update and having major battery issues.
Is there anyway to see what this update is before it gets installed? Any ideas? Thanks.
BTW - the update is ~452MB.

I'm kind of new here, but after reading up on the Samsung support forums apparently G930U will only be receiving quarterly security updates so this update is all of the regular updates the carrier versions have received since September rolled up into 1 large package. It's still 6.0.1, and so far, I haven't seen any adverse effects (although I'm not rooted, so no clue if it effects anything along the lines of the boot loader) Also, during my internet search on what this update was, I came across this site that lists out the firmware (and Android level) of every release for a Samsung product, which confirmed not the nougat update. - can't make a real link since I'm new to posting on XDA, so search Google for "live-samsung updates"
Hope that helps!

I updated my G930U and have had no issues. Took it off the charger this morning at 8am, it's now nearly 1pm and battery is at 97%. Obviously I haven't used it much but there's certainly no unusual standby battery issue so far.
Anyone else get an update yesterday?
Yes, got it on mine last night. No clue what it supposedly does yet. Probably just the July security update.
The update notes said it fixed something with corporate email performance and integrated typical android security updates....took it today, i dont notice anything new.
I cannot install the update on any of my rooted phones (which isn't a huge surprise to me). However, the update has been out for a few days, and I haven't seen anything about the update here on the forum until today. I'm hoping someone posts an update method for those of us with rooted phones.
Does anyone know can we use BT firmware from S6 onto S7? I have problem connecting my car hands free system, thought no such problem with S6
BQG1 improves network speed.

Got the BQG1 update on 7/29 and after stabilizing for an hour ran speed test via WiFi. I had noticed a drop to around 140Mbps on my Comcast service with the last update and couldn't figure out why. With BQG1, my downlaod speed is back up to 230Mbps and running very smooth. Don't know what VZ did, bit it works!
Hope that helps.

I wanted to give a quick update.
Following suggestions I found on a few threads here, I went ahead and updated all three of my rooted phones to firmware QH1 on Friday, and they are all still rooted.
I used ODIN to re-flash the stock firmware (using HOME-CSC to keep my apps and settings intact. I downloaded the firmware from one of the links I found here on XDA.
I then re-rooted using the procedure in the OP.
I had two issues (that I can think of):
1. A few of the settings (lock screen settings, specifically - maybe one or two others?) were cleared in the process - and I had to set them up again.
2. One of the phone (the one *I* use, of course), rooted okay, but SuperSU was missing after the reboot. Installing it from the Play store appeared to break root. So I just re-rooted it again.
Other than those issues, I think everything else went pretty smoothly.
I hope this is helpful to others.
After the whole unlock and January update scare i've been pretty cautious to stay at 8.1, and download all my aps from APkPure and places like that. But man it's just a quality of life thing at this point. What makes this more complicating is that Titanium Backup stopped working a month ago. So i'd like to do this without a system wipe. Though that would probably be my best option. I dunno. What's my best plan of action here?

It's not really clear what you're after here. Are you wanting to update to the March update? Are you on Verizon and worried about your bootloader getting locked if you update? If so, updating won't lock your bootloader. In any event, you need to be a bit more clear about what you're wanting to do. At least for me. You didn't really explain what the download pending bug is. You can't download from the playstore? Maybe something to do with downloading an update for the OS? You never did say. Can you clear these things up for us?

Oh sorry. Yes I'd like to update to March, would not like to wipe for whatever reason. I had a pretty widespread bug where Google Play would say it's finalizing install, in my case 2/3 but would never progress. I seem to have fixed it by booting stock and updating to the latest Play Services. I still can't install anything from the play store, but at least that's not in any bar anymore.
Hey,. Is there something wrong or What,
I dont understand,. My Device is SM-986USQU1CTL2, their have been no software updates or security batches since December 2020. Anyone with infos
I would say you'd have to talk to your carrier, but maybe you can try submitting issue report on Samsung Members app as your fall back plan; attempt software update > immediately submit issue report on SM app.
I suggest you back up your device in case you have to flash with a latest software... flashing will delete all info in your phone so... backup backup backup
If it's running fast, stable and fulfilling its mission... leave it be.
You don't need no stinking updates.
Updates can break it especially major firmware updates. On my Note 10+ I'm still running happily on Pie. No updates in a year and a half. Zero issues... because I worked them all out. Don't add new problems when you have none.
The security vulnerabilities are just not a concern unless you do something stupid.
No saving dumb bunnies...
Always be fully backed up and ready for a factory reset at anytime though.
Pie and post Pie Androids rarely crash or get malware that requires a factory reset, but it can happen. Be prepared.
